I also concur...hapa's are freakin awesome. Except when people think you're mexican and don't believe that you're half filipino/half irish. Why would I lie about something like that? Maybe because it's so awesome to be hapa!

I eat rice and mashed potatoes...at the same time!

I never knew I was asian till I went to Cal.  So many ppl with slitty eyes walking around with hello kitty backpacks stuffed with Black Lightning notes drinking pearl teas.  WTF!!!  And they looked like me . . . well, kinda.

Then it occurred to me that I was seriously screwed up.  Something went awry between the port aperitifs and the peking duck . . . I was no FOB or LA RAZA.  I was this mutant 5/8ths Chinese & 3/8ths Portugese mutt.  It actually had a name = HAPA.  Part Asian. Half Asian.  Mixed Asian.  Eurasian.  

This is my life as a HAPA child & why I'm brilliantly insane as an adult:

1) your mom makes kick ass spaghetti . . . in a friggin wok.

2)  your mom makes kick ass hashbrowns . . . in that same wok.

3) your Buddhist mom is passive aggressive about having to go to Catholic church on Sunday . . . and always runs 30 minutes late just to piss Dad off to the point he's first in line for the wine.

4) red envelopes with serious $ moolah $ INSIDE your easter egg instead of those crappy jelly beans.

5) you get TWO New Year celebrations EVERY year . . . the second comes with a epileptic fire-cracking, break-dancing dragon . . . cool.

The blending of 2 (or more ethnicities) is so exotic!

i lovingly refer to them as halflings.

why are halflings always so freaking hot? well something has to balance out the insanity that must be their manic depressive, bipolar childhood.

i know why theys hot. its the softness of the asian blood and the buh dunk a dunk dunk of the other mixed in.
