I've only been for dinner.  The view is spectacular.  The food was good.  The dinner was very memorable because my husband proposed only an hour before!

If you are in Hawaii, and you are craving a view..this is the place for you! If you are over the age of 60 and like to dance..this is DEFINITELY the place for you. If you are in your 30s and want a delicious meal, great view and like to watch creepy people dance..THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! If you order a Blue Hawaiian, you will get a blue slurpee. Aloha! Great access to the rest of downtown Waikiki and great shopping. There is a dress code.

The Hanohano room. Swank, sexy, cool, and the view is incredible. The bar is sleek and very chi chi. I love it.

It's great to dress up, meet some friends for drinks and feel like you are in an episode of Sex in the City (Honolulu style!)

Skyline at the Hanohano room is the first and third Saturday of the month. Now while Honolulu isn't exactly known for a big nightlife, this is one of the big "must attend" events. Flash and Matty Boy have scored a hit with this one.

Get on their guest list, and get there before 11. And say "hi" to Christa (supercw) if you see her there.

Also, don't miss the "Pau Hana" Happy hour on Wednesdays. Cool jazz, great views, and nice company make it a perfect way to end hump day.

One of my favorite spots to come to party.  First of all, the view from the club is amazing!  You can see all of Honolulu.  Plus, the ride up in the glass elevator is spectacular.  Anyhow, this is a chichi place, I won't lie.  Girls, dress up; guys, you too.  The vip section is pretty darn big.  Fun to get a table with friends and chill.  They have a dance floor, and often feature fashion shows.  Wait, I should clarify, I'm talking about the HanoHano Room club night that happens 2x a month, Sat. nights, the 1st and 3rd Saturdays.  I have also been here for dinner, which was great as well.  Pretty romantic spot, I was impressed for sure.  We had oysters and I had fish, which was amazing.  Great service too.

Whack.
The music was as awful as a sulfuric acid enema. Please...if you want house music, stick to house music. If you want hiphop, stick with hiphop! The transition between tracks was horrendous, making dancing absolutely impossible. The $25 cover charge turned away a lot of locals, so the venue was pretty empty considering the hubub that this place received.

The venue was great. It provided a stunning view of waikiki beach. If only the promotion did a better job of planning and consideration for local attendance.

this placed sucked for a multitude of reasons.....

first, it was dead...and dead can be a good thing if the people who are there are all on the same page....ppl seemed stuck up, and in my opinion, had no right no be...

the go-go dancers were old and rythmless...

the drinks were average...

the girl at the host stand downstairs was being mean to people just because she could...

there was a $10 cover  for the guestlist (when have i EVER paid a cover?)....

so, we left....we went to Doraku, which was awesome...then Lotus, which was OK., then Epix which was OFF THE CHAIN! i LOVE house music!!

i think at one point, we went back to Hanohano, just to see if it had improved, but, alas, it hadn't...it was more crowded, but no one looked like they were haing much fun...i DID meet some nice people, tho, while outside smoking!!

if u went, i hope you all had a better time than i did!!

You ride up a glass elevator and suddenly Wow!  Who knew a tacky glass elevator ride could be so wonderful.  Once inside it  I was a feast for all senses... Incredible views of Waikiki, piano playing, mild aromas, everyone speaking Japanese...Service was really great...Even with the place booked for the night, the staff let us dine at our own (slow) pace.  Food was great, wine was also fine.  Expensive, but worth it!!!

So, remember back in the day when couples of a certain age went out to dinner at fancy places that were slightly tacky with fabulous views,  mediocre food, bad service, and an odd loungy feel?

Yeah, I don't either, but this is the kind of place my grandparents would have gone to when they were dating in the late forties.  Well...here and boxing matches.

Spectacular view of Honolulu (especially the elevator ride up). The food was pretty good, and the service was incredible. Remember to book far enough in advance and take extra heed of the dress code (no shorts, tshirts or any footwear that resembles beach).

I always boast about this restaurant to everyone I know!  Its my favorite place for dinner (filet and lobster!) and I can honestly say that out of the many times that I've been there, I have never been disappointed.  The ambiance of this restaurant is unbelievable.  The view is wonderful, they have live music (which is selected very appropriately for the occassion), every single table (even the ones that are not "window side") have a view, there are booths and regular tables, the wait staff is attentive and professional (and they give you lots of time to talk and dont rush you out like some places), and the restaurant is quiet.  I cant stand cramped, sit on your neighbor, noisy restaurants, where all you here is the clanking of the utensils and kitchen staff.  Hanohano Room is not that restaurant.  I can go on and on about this restaurant, but seriously, if you are looking for a romantic place to have dinner and dont mind paying a little more, give Hanohano Room a try.  I have three recommendations that are a MUST:  baked oysters for appetizer, the filet and lobster, and strawberry sabayon for dessert!!  They are ALL to die for.  Promise!

Several years ago I played at the Hanohano Room on the Perry and Price radio show a couple of times.  One of the times I had to sit right next to Price and he smelled.  I don't know if they still do the show, but in any case it was a weekly breakfast thing.  The food was pretty good but not interesting; just your standard continental.  The view of the ocean is just gorgeous.  I prefer the view during the day to evening, though the city lights are nice too.

I've been to the Hanohano room twice at night when it was a club (Skyline is only twice a month, I've heard - call to confirm), and a few times when it was just a regular restaurant bar/jazz lounge.  I prefer the jazz lounge because it's way more mellow.  My fiance and I have had some of our best dates there.  We went twice for Valentine's Day to have a light dinner and ICE WINE.  I loooove ice wine.

For the Skyline nights, I didn't have to wait in line either time because my fiance's friend bought a table (actually one of the times she rented out the whole middle section.  $$$!), so that was pretty nice.  The hostesses pack people into the elevator like sardines (or as Ellen Degeneres - spelling? - says, "like pickles".  She says pickles are packed more tightly than sardines.  Anyway...)

It was the release of the new Grey Goose Pear vodka the other night, so the dance/acting troupe "Iona Pear" were roaming around the restaurant.  I thought that was pretty cool.  I really appreciated the pear-themed decorations; the huge vases with stones, leaves, and pears were my favorite.  I tried all 3 of the Grey Goose Pear mixed drink specials, plus a dirty martini, and some random shot (I ordered "something easy, please" - the bartender was cool; she made it easy but I have to say it was gross too.  It was like a buttery nipple with chamborde; blech).  So I was pretty toasted by the time we left to go to Pearl.  Fun times!

If you're at the Sheraton, take a ride in the elevator.  In high school my friends and I would ride up and down.  See if you can keep your forehead on the glass ALL THE WAY down; it gets pretty scary.

Worst food in Waikiki.  I took my fiance there for his 40th birthday.  The food was horrible.  I ordered the special, Opah.  It was dry.  The sauce on it was dried out.  It looked like it sat around for an hour.  I paid $44 for it.  My fiance had the chicken.  It was ok.  I had been wanting to take him there for a few years now.  I saved it for a special occasion.  I was very embarrased and disappointed.

I guess I would recommend this place for a nice view and a cocktail.  I would not recommend this place for dinner.  $170 for 2 people is a little steep for bad food.

Our server was nice.  But, who cares if the food is bad.

Every once in a while, it's a good idea to spend the night ballin' out of control.

Forget about $3 beers and lounging near the pool table in a T-shirt and jeans. We're talking about digging deep in your closet for some duds that'll wow the opposite sex and that platinum credit card you only pull out for special occasions.

Once you're dressed to impress, consult a calendar to make sure it's the first or third Saturday of the month. Then jump in your ride and head for SKYLiNE at the Hanohano Room.

The brainchild of promoters Flash Hansen, Matty Hazelgrove and Komo Low, this biweekly party originally launched in 2004 as a monthly called TWiLiGHT.

Following in the footsteps of Low's successful Friday night Wonderlounge party at the W Honolulu and its offspring like John Dominis' Spy Bar, the Ocean Club's Piranha Room and the Hyatt Regency's Feng Shui, the Hanohano Room attracts a mix of the beautiful people -- Honolulu's sophisticated partygoers and those looking to show off a wardrobe that wouldn't (or couldn't) be worn anywhere else.

With DJs spinning a mix of house, '80s old school and jiggy-free hip-hop, there's a slightly more mature vibe going here than some of the other 'ultra lounge' venues in town.

Why spend all the time and effort to get dressed up and go out, just to hear the same music that's  on radio stations that cater to teenage listeners?

If you check out SKYLiNE, splurge and make a reservation for a VIP table. Prices will vary, depending on customer demand and table location, but it's the only way to go if you want the full rockstar treatment.

My only suggestion? Don't wait until last call to make your exit for the evening.

We got caught up in a horde of tipsy types waiting to get back downstairs, including a few who thought it would be smart to push and shove their way through the crowd to the elevator.

Even though they're all done up and wearing nice clothes, some people are still inconsiderate jerks once they've had a few drinks.

The service is impeccable, the food is divine and the view is one of the best in the world.

I made reservations weeks in advance, which is what I think it takes for a window-side table overlooking Waikiki and Diamondhead during the sunset. The view is amazing. You can't really describe it until you see it.

The Hanohano Room experience begins when you take the elevator, which is on the outside of the Sheraton Waikiki and has blue and red lights. You get an amazing view of Honolulu on your way up to the restaurant. And it's just really fun on the way up.

Once in the Hanohano Room, you experience a modern restaurant and a five-star staff. The Wine List is extensive and the entrees are excellent. I would recommend the Caesar salad that they make table-side as a part of your experience. I also recommend the desserts (any of them!) afterwards. Make this your big splurge in Hawaii!

I booked this restaurant through its website asking for a table on the Diamond Head side. An email reply came within two hours confirming my reservation and informing me of the dress code. My choice of seating was not guaranteed but sent to the restaurant as a request. The email tone was friendly, courteous and professional.

I wore a suit. I hurried by the Waikiki police station wondering if I'm going to get $10 fine for being that well-dressed. If it had been Aloha Friday I might have been arrested. LOL

There is an elevator that will take you directly to the top of the hotel without any stops. Since it is on the outside of the hotel you will have a panoramic view of Waikiki as you arrive and descend from the restaurant. ( Check my photo which has a picture of a mural beside the elevator. )

When we arrived we were escorted to a Diamond Head side table. What a spectacular view!  With this auspicious start I looked at the wine list. Cakebread chardonnay was on the list; things are definitely going my way tonight.

I started with a salad. I was amazed that such a simple dish could be bursting with flavor. We had the steamed Hawaiian onaga and the roasted chicken, both delicious. For dessert we had Cherries Jubilee. A spectacular table side show was presented preparing this dish.

The staff was attentive and courteous.

Due to the nature of this restaurant and high cost I recommend that it is best suited for romantic couples and special occasions. BTW a suit is not required, just be well dressed.

We came in for the lounge portion of the evening.

Great customer service.  They have an awesome Riesling.  The view from the 30th floor of the Sheraton Waikiki was awesome.  Lounge chairs were a black pleather material, but it was cozy and clean.  A nice selection of booth seats, couches, loveseats, or chairs.  Take your pick.

Dinner is also served here. Dress code is strictly enforced during those hours.

Very nice place for couples to go. Located on the 30th floor of the Sheraton Waikiki hotel, it overlooks the Waikiki beach and the surrounding city light. it is so beautiful whether its day or night!
I went for the lounge not the dinner. Dinner is usually where they have the view side seatings. but nonetheless you can still see everything from wherever your sitting at . (almost).

Make sure you wear formal clothes. as in long pants and collared shirts for guys. If you really don't have time to change or don't got no collared shirts, they will let you borrow and make you wear a complimentary black suit jacket. which is free.
the service iis exceptional. what can you say, gotta hand it to the japanese for great service. i love em!

Take off those shorts, tanktops, tshirts, flip flops, and baseball caps and put on your "evening resort attire"  ... Yes, this is still Hawaii.  The Hanohano Room is strict with their dress code so don't show up casually like we did.  They do, however, have pants, jackets, and shoes to borrow... If you're cool with that sort of thing.

The main attraction of this restaurant is the romantic atmosphere and the amazing view.  We dropped by for some appetizers and drinks.  However, the bartender said "no food! i'm working alone tonight"  ... Five minutes later, he stood there twiddling his thumbs, looked at us, and realized that maybe he does have time to serve us some food.  We had some wine with a cheese plate and ahi tuna sashimi.  It was a great start of date night.

This review is for Skyline which is basically the Hanohano room after 10:00pm.

It was over a 45 minute wait in line.  I was nervous after being rejected by the Pearl that we couldnt get in.  This snotty girl was whining behind us in the general admission line that she had to wait longer than usual because they didnt want to let us uncool people in.  She asked if she could buy a table to get in early.  They let the reservations and vip in first, and then they let us through.  They apologised sincerely for the wait, we paid a $15 cover charge each.

The elevator ride up was great.  The lights flicker off, and as you float up to the club you get to feast your eyes on an amazing view of the city lights.  When the doors open you're greeted and informed of any drink specials.  There isnt much seating for folks that dont have the cash to afford to buy the booths.  The booths go from 150. 300. and 500.  I loved the atmosphere, most of the people were very friendly and down to earth.  We met a friend there that happened to have one of the $300 booths - awesome.  The music was all uptempo and fun and i really dug the go-go dancers that were on the center tables.  It felt like we were in a movie.  We spent WAY too much dough on drinks though, i guess a budweiser isnt the same price everywhere.  The waiter was very cool, and we ordered two buttery nipples, a jaeger, and petron for Lani.  The waiter came back with two petron shots, he gave us one on the house because he said you shouldnt take a tequila shot alone.  But we had a great time, and i'd definately go back again.

this venue is on here 4 times but i love the reviews. they really get the feel for this skyline event.

the skyline event happens the first and third saturday of the month and i love it. it's a great night out but i'll tell you now--- you get out of it what you put in to it.

i've been to a few and witnessed some snobbery but it was usually from people new and not understanding how to have fun. they probably don't have fun anywhere.

the "skyline regulars" are friendly, upbeat, crazy-fun at times, and welcoming. the door people and security are fantastic and will call you by name after they see you more than once or twice.

this is a fantastic party.
