Hannah works wonders with...

PUMPKINS...

CHEESECAKE- rich, smooth creme cheese goodness in every bite.

AND...

LOAF- light, fluffy, cinnamony cake topped off with a nice crispy crusty layer of walnuts, brown sugar and spices.

Simply delightful with a cup of java.

Bought 2 croissant sandwiches, a pumpkin bread, a carrot cake, 2 madeleines, and a strawberry danish (for $23 total).  They were all good but not out of the ordinary.  I felt like the price was a bit too high.  For example a cupcake is $3, a plain croissant is $2.50.
When I visited the store (Friday at 10:00 am), there weren't too many different kinds of individual cakes available.  Each item was saran-wrapped or placed in a plastic take-out container (to prevent them from going stale???)  It didn't give me the confidence that they were fresh baked, I don't know why.
I will come back to try those individual cakes sometime.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon - we wanted to check out what all the raves were about regarding the red velvet cupcakes.  We also got an order of hot chocolate and a strawberry french soda.  We left being disappointed and unimpressed.

Pros:
*Nice, clean atmosphere, outdoor seating, free WiFi (good study spot)
*Owner Hannah is really nice and works the counter herself

Cons:
*Red Velvet Cupcake - we wanted to try these based on all the other Yelp reviews and were very disappointed with these.  We were expecting something more along the lines of Sprinkles cupcake quality.
We're usually fine for paying $3+ for gourmet cupcakes but these were not gourmet (and they still charge $3!), these were similar to something that comes out of my own kitchen!

We also were not impressed by the hot chocolate and thought the french soda was simply ok.

Tips:
*If you come here often get a drink card - buy 10 drinks get the 11th free

Bottom line, I want to give this place a higher rating because the employees are so nice but that can only get you so far.  Hannah's didn't deliver on the cupcakes or the drinks - we'll be sticking to Sprinkles for our Red Velvet Cupcakes even if it means a drive to Palo Alto!

The quality of food and drinks here remind me of a watered down version of Starbucks.  Pretty display of desserts; but looks are deceiving, no?  Kudos on the pumpkin cheesecake, though (even though I suspect they're pre-ordered and not freshly made).

Hannah's is what a coffee shop should be all about! The staff is undeniably the most personable and friendly staff ever. Both mom and daughter pay attention to each of their customers with care and always have a genuine conversation with each person.

But it's not just the amazing staff, it's their coffee, food, desserts, you name it! My favorite is their turkey pesto sandwich for lunch...it's my staple. But their coffee is great, and they always have a ton of pastries and other desserts that are just mouthwatering. Everything is made on-site and it definitely makes a difference. You can taste the freshness in everything. If you're feeling really indulgent, try the truffle lollipops....outstanding decadence.

Overall, highly recommended!

If you haven't been by to meet Hannah and taste her red velvet cupcakes, then you are seriously missing out.
The owner (Hannah herself) is nearly always behind the counter, working away, but never too busy to greet her loyal customers and meet their every need. When the owner/manager becomes a pal almost immediately upon entering the establishment, you know you've found something great!
The coffee is good, the red velvet cupcakes make me crazy (and I don't even have a very big sweet tooth!) and Hannah is a tiny little sweetie pie. Go and make a friend!!

For a guy, I have a major sweet tooth and is not easily pleased. Due to the emptiness in my wallet I have to settle for less tasteful sweets. But on a Friday afternoon with two of my good girl friends we stumbled across this cozy little cafe off of yelp. All the pictures of the food were so appealing we had to try it!

First thing I noticed walking into the little restaurant was the cozy and very organized interior decor. Although the food selection was rather limited, it was DEFINITELY quality over quantity. I ordered the Smoked Salmon on a Lox Bagel and a Blended Milky Way Mocha which were both unique to the restaurant. As me and my company sat in the corner where the cozy seats were, one of the workers (which I believed to be the owner's mother) cheerfully brought out our orders. It was very well presented and looked OH so good to eat, so after taking a quick pic of the foods I took a bite out of my bagel sandwich. I LOVED IT! It was blissful in every bite! At first i was a bit skeptical about my drink being like most blended coffee drinks to be either too sweet, too watery, or just plain disgusting. This drink is just like its name, its out of this world!

I can't accurately describe out how great the food was other than my taste buds were dancing as my stomach smiled =]. We also ordered the VERY Yummy Banana Strawberry Smoothie and THREE Red Velvet Cupcakes. The smoothie was the best I have ever tasted and the cupcake gave me a taste of heaven! Hannah (the owner of HannaH's obviously) came out to greet us and made us feel so warmly welcomed there. I can definitely see that her secret ingredient is love.

I recommend anyone who is a coffee lover, has a sweet tooth, or just want a nice place to eat for lunch to come her and give it a try. YOU WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Sorry for my long review =P

The food and drinks are great, the atmosphere is fun, and the owner is interested in what people think!

I live nearby, so I was thrilled to discover a place like Hannah's!   She's always cheerful, the drinks are yummy (she makes a great Chai!), the sandwiches are all freshly made to order and very tasty, and the cakes and cupcakes ... mmm .. to die for!  And really good cheesecake too!

At the risk of sounding questionably hetero I would like to declare this little coffee house to be positively adorable (fabulous even)! The decor is warm, inviting and hipper than a pelvis. The drinks, pastries, and other sweet delights crafted by the charismatic owner are all done so with love. Hannah herself is a delight, (so friendly!) and does a great job of making everyone feel welcome and appreciated.
I find it so refreshing to see someone willing to take a risk like this considering the current economic climate. If you feel like satisfying your appetite for something delicious and being inspired at the same time then head on over and say hello to Hannah!

My husband and I passed through San Jose on the way home from SF and we had the chance to stop by this coffeeshop (due to the favorable reviewers that came before us!)

We actually came here because it seemed dog-friendly and we were happy to see some outdoor seating and a dog-bowl on the corner (although no dogs were allowed *inside* the cafe).  So our canine could enjoy breakfast alongside us.

We thoroughly enjoyed the bagels, ordering a lox bagel (with just the right amount of onions, cream cheese and tomato), which reminded us of the bagels we had in Israel (that's pretty impressive). The Hazelnut Latte was also delicious and reminiscent of our trip to Israel (it seems Israelis have a hard time making a bad cup of coffee). It was just sweet enough and nice and bold. So yummy. We also ordered the peach smoothie on Hannah's recommendation and it was delish in addition to everything else...

So, we were really pleased!!! Also, the little fruit garnishes were nice too. Sooo we wouldn't necessarily drive 600 miles there, but we'd come back if we were back in SJ ;)

After reading about the red velvet cupcakes, I decided to come out here to satisfy my sweet tooth and, I must say, I'm very glad I did.

So I came here after work with about 15 min left before closing. Walking in, I noticed this place is actually a little cafe with coffee, tea, and baked goods. I spotted the red velvet cupcakes on a cake stand underneath a glass cover and decided to buy 6 @ $3 a pop. The young woman who helped me was extremely nice and helpful. She even threw in an extra cupcake for me since it wad almost closing time. I left quite pleased.

As I bit into one of the red velvet cupcakes, my taste buds lit up with a moist cupcake and a delicious cream cheese frosting to match. It wasn't too sweet and completely satisfied my cravings. I only gave this place 4 stars since I didn't try their coffee or tea but I will definitly return to check those out.. oh and get more red velvet!

This review is for her awesome red velvet cupcakes.

So, I met Hannah last night at my friend, the famous photographer (ahem ahem)'s birthday party. I heard/ read about Hannah from his blog (http://www.junshien.com) and have been meaning to visit her shop ever since! To my delight, she was also invited to the party AND she brought her deeeeeeeeeeeeelicious red velvet cupcakes for dessert. It was so pretty looking that I almost did not want to eat it. Everyone around me was raving so much about it that I couldn't take it anymore! I had to eat the pretty looking cupcake...so I request for a picture with it (with the birthday boy too, of course), and then i INHALED it. YUMMMM =)

"I can't overrate it enough!" hahaha It was so damn good. I usually don't eat the frosting on my cupcakes/ cakes, but I ate the whole entire thing. Even licked the frostings behind the fondant "happy birthday" sign. (hopefully no one saw that haha). It was THAT GOOD!

Hannah is such a sweet and cute girl. She's sooooo funny too (!!) and that girl is a robot! =) Who the heck runs a shop by herself, man the cashier, prep and bake, close/open, talk to her customers, etc. etc.??? insane crazy machine. I'm looking forward to visit her shop to try her other creations!

RED VELVET CUPCAKES.

Holy crap, I can't even find the words to describe the perfectness of these little bad boys. Let's just say that the cupcake itself was the perfect consistency, and the frosting she used on top was light and fluffy, not the heavy, super sweet stuff that you can commonly find in Sprinkles and Kara's cupcakes. If you're the type who can't take in super sweet delights, then you must try this place. And the owner, Hannah, is a doll!

First off, let me start off by saying that this is a COFFEE SHOP.  The shop owner does not advertise herself as a gourmet cupcake shop in any way and if you are able to make cupcakes taste this good out of your kitchen, more power to you.  You may be asking yourself why everyone is raving about the red velvet cupcakes here.  Are her red velvet cupcakes worth 5 stars on their own?  Maybe...maybe not.  BUT, is the shop in its entirety--with its great service, great prices, great tasting and freshly house baked croissants and danishes ( daily, mind you), and neighborhood like atmosphere--worthy of 5 stars?  I honestly and truly believe so.  I have tasted the Espresso cupcakes, croissant, salads, red velvet cupcakes, danishes, madeleines, cookies, cheesecakes, fruit danishe, strawberry shortcake, banana and hummingbird bread, bread pudding and also various drinks from this place (I swear I'm not a glutton...although it seems like I've tried everything there!  LOL).  I wouldn't give each of them individually 5 stars since I have my own preferences but it is simply amazing what she can whip out of that little kitchen in the back!

I too have had Sprinkles cupcakes and personally thought that they were a bit on the sweet side.  Unlike sweets at this place they are probably premeasured batter and premixed frosting at the hands of a minimum wage paid teenager.

All in all, I'd say make a trip out here if you're looking for a good overall experience, not if you're trying to cure some insatiable sweet tooth that most people have from overstimulating their palates.

HannaH = My new go-to stop before hittin' Cal Train

On a hunt to quiet my grumbling tummy and in a desperate attempt to squeeze in a coffee stop less than 15 minutes before my train was scheduled to depart, I flipped a U when I saw HannaH's coffee shop sign. W/ no wait in sight, I ordered up a latte and a sausage danish and was literally in/out within 3 minutes thanks to HannaH herself!

I wasn't sure what to expect w/ my sausage danish, but once I sunk my teeth in and had a few bites, I was sold. When I have breakfast, I love me some protein, so this was definitely satisfyingly delicious! The latte hit the spot as well.

The cafe is cozy, w/ a few comfy chairs and I was happy to find out that there's an ATM in the back, JUST what I needed for pulling out cash for my CalTrain parking.

I went back again today and had the same quick service. Perfect. I should also note that HannaH's friendly demeanor really gets my day off to an awesome start! She greets me w/ such genuine enthusiasm and sends me off on my way w/ a "Have a wonderful day!"

I'd love to try her velvet cupcakes & all her other creations sometime! This girl knows what she's doing. She's a graduate of the CA Culinary Academy, interned in baking & pastry @ the Palace Hotel, and has worked at Sugar Butter Flour in Sunnyvale.

This ain't no ordinary cafe.

This place is one of those places that anyone can overlook while driving by, but, people DON'T pass this place up!

You'll be missing out on good drinks and sweets.

And if you do pass this shop, you're crazy; not the good crazy either.

Hannah is extremely sweet, I love how easy it is to talk to her, and it was my first time coming into her shop.  Kudos to her for being cheerful and running the shop by herself, she seems to be quiet the busy bee.

As for the food I've only tried the red velvet cupcakes, just because they caught my eye first.  I'm a sucker for sweet little cakes, ahah.  Let me tell you, I took my first bite in the car and was like, 'OMG!'.  I was tempted to run back to the shop and give Hannah a high five.  Moist, subtle sweet cake matched with a not overly decadent cream cheese frosting.  HEAVEN.  It matched perfectly with the iced coffee blend (which was just perfect, too).

Hannah, if you ever read this:  you've got yourself another fan. :)

I can see how this place is rated so well, after all, I did not expect to be able to grab two delicious red velvet cupcakes 20 minutes prior to their closing on a Friday afternoon when there were no visitors in the cafe.

This place is under new management, so I can only assume that whatever was there before wasn't fantastic, but the 'new' management is pulling it together nicely. I cannot speak for their pastry or coffee/tea items, but this is one absolutely delicious red velvet!

First, it is not very commercialized. It has a home baked, made from scratch look and feel with a taste that is definitely some fantastic combination of rightly mixed homely ingredients. The frosting is buttery and soft, very well whipped and excellently portioned to compliment and not overwhelm the cupcake. The cake itself is EXTREMELY moist and delicious with a fragrant air of grandma's Sunday morning freshly made muffins kitchen.

Oh dare I say, I've found a cupcake obsession closer to home than SF :)

Made a mental note to come by whenever I was over this way; pleased to say that was today.  We came we saw we ate, and it was worth mentioning that we had a chance to talk to Hannah and she is a bubbly, down to earth gal with a great cupcake to boot. Since we were full from lunch we took our sweets to go as well as a couple of Americano's; even the coffee was good. Watch out Starbucks, Hannah's has a mean cup of Joe and the sweets to match.

My sister requested cupcakes as her birthday cake, so we stopped at HannaH to try it out, after reading about the shop on Yelp. I agree with the other folks in that the red velvet cupcakes are delicious. We also got the blueberry lemon cupcakes and cinnamon bread pudding. They both earn an A grade as well.

We're fans of Sugar Butter Flour and is glad that an alum has a shop 5 mins from our house. We'll be back to try everything else in the pastry case, and that peach smoothie in the photo.

I heart this place and pretty much camped out here for awhile during lunch breaks, since it had free wifi + sustenance and was just across the street from my work. The owner and her mother (who helps out from time to time) are super sweet and friendly and the snack, food, and coffee are all incredibly good. Hannah even gave me complimentary banana pudding once as I was chilling with my laptop. The only reason HannaH isn't getting 5 stars is because for desserts and lunch, it can be on the pricey side. I would love to stop by more often, but unfortunately, I need to exercise some restraint and conserve, as my meals would total at least $7 and I would often get hungry again soon after.

Recommended: salmon lox bagel + any of the desserts.

I was attracted to this place due to the wonderful pictures Junshien took for Hannah's (I mean who wouldn't think a tiffany blue ribbon around bread pudding, or pink bow on truffle pops isn't cute?!) I'm a sucker for cute bows :[ Besides aesthetics aside, the place definitely has some great flavors!

I had the ice caramel latte that had some chocolate syrup on top was delicious! Very rich in flavor. The Breakfast croissant was also yummy, the egg is slightly runny, and the cheese is ozzing out. There is even some strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry decor on the plate. How cute!

The red velvet is the cutest cupcake I have ever seen! It was definitely not too sweet and moist, very mouth watering yummy. You have an option of whip cream on top of the bread pudding, but i opted out.

Make sure to sample the entire dessert menu because they look fantastic!

A lovely lovely corner coffee shop. One that's sophisticated, yet, chill-back.

As someone who spent tons of time here, today was my first visit under the new management. The first thing I noticed where the new decorations. It's hard to revamp a place when you plan to use it the same way the old owners did. They did a great job.

The pastries (though I didn't buy any) caught by eye. I really kept looking over at them while I took my money out to pay.

I do miss the old painting on the West wall. I will be stopping here when I take CalTrain. It's cozy. I like it.

Decor and deli-bakery:
This place is very family oriented. The place is named after the owner. You definitely get a warm, comfortable, family- feeling as soon as you enter. I love her cooking and baking. My gosh! it is good. Have you ever eaten a cupcake and just rolled your eyes in ectasy because it is just the way you like it? Did it for me and my sister...oh and the coffee...I'm an avid coffee drinker and know a good coffee when I taste one...Hannah definitely also a great coffee barista, on top her cooking.

Just back from my first (but NOT my last) trip to HannaH

The shop is so cute - feels really homey and comfy. I knew we were going there for the red velvet cupcake - how could we NOT after all the reviews??

So - we decided to have our snack there and get coffees & smoothies to go - we snuggled in the corner to enjoy the beautiful cupcake - was so pretty was hard to bite into, but I got over that FAST!

The cupcake was light and fluffy and just to die for! I think I ate mine in 3 or 4 bites - no use savoring when I know I am getting more!!

The staff (Hannah and an employee?) were so nice and friendly! They brought our coffees to us and were chit chatty!

I just finished my swiss mocha and it was very light and flavorful.

I am already making plans to go back for the turkey sandwich with cranberry on a croissant - with cupcake(s) to follow!!!

HannaH rocks! I've come here for lunch and coffee and tried something different every time; everything's been yummy. My favorite pastry so far is the bread pudding; crunchy, flavorful and not overtly sweet. You can just see AND taste that she puts lots of love in her goodies. Lunch is splendid too, with the salmon bagel being my favorite. This morning I found out that she's started to sell quiches, can't wait to try one of those!

Have you ever wanted to hang out at a coffee shop like "central perk" on friends?
HannaH is a really nice Coffee shop. Its clean, its trendy, and has free Wi-fi. Not to mention, the bake goods and pastries are at a good and reasonable price.
I know your thinking "'reasonable price', it probably sucks." Well, you're wrong. The pastries are very savory. I've recently tried chai creme brulee, mocha cheese cake, and a chocolate caramel mousse.
I've never had a chai creme brulee and it's nice to have it at a coffee and tea house. I would recommend pairing a nice tea (maybe CHAI) with the Chai creme brulee.
For those with a taste for cheesecake and mocha, the Mocha cheesecake has a good share of cheesy and mocha favor. I think this dessert would be good with a coffee.
The chocolate caramel mousse was rich and decadent. I really liked the texture on this dessert. It was smooth and had little chocolate chucks. This is very rich and anyone with a sweet tooth will love this.
If you ask me, I will definitely come back here. There are so many special items made by the baker, Hannah, that I'm dying to try.

Note: This review is only for the pastries and desserts.

I've been to HannaH's a couple times now when I am in San Jose and each time was excellent. The sandwiches on her fresh baked croissants were great ( I tried the pesto turkey and breakfast sandwich on 2 occasions.)  All of the pastries look excellent, although I have only been able to try her Madeleine's (which were way above what Starbucks offers in their prepackaged variety) and her Red velvet cup cakes.  The cupcakes were amazing and very stylish; it almost made me sad to eat it.  They were not overbearingly sweet like some cupcakes are.

I haven't tried anything but black coffee here so far, but it was brewed well, and she offered to brew a new batch because it had been sitting for a little while.

I definitely plan on coming back to try the rest of her menu whenever I am in town now.

Excellent coffee with excellent service.  I got a cold caramel frappaccino and it beats out any starbucks drink.  People are really friendly and inviting.  It's one of those places you can just sit, drink coffee and catch up with old friends on a sunny afternoon.

Since I promised 'him' some breakfast this morning I had to come through even after I realized I hadn't gone grocery shopping. So the original plan was to go to Blendz which is close to home but they don't open till 8 and I needed breakfast around 6:30ish. So I looked up some coffee shop/ juice bar places on my very reliable YELP and found HannaH. With great ratings, also near my home I decided to call ahead just in case. The super friendly girl that answered gave me an idea of what they had for breakfast, NOT a large variety but definitely sounded yummy. So I headed out.....I walk in and order my yummy croissants and Americano and while I'm waiting I hear her beating some eggs.......... OMG real eggs?! wow! So cool. The price was a lil more than my shrinking wallet was expecting to give up but I'd definitely rather give my few extra dollars to a mom and pop store than some commercialized giant chain store. A small lil gripe: I wish they would use real cheese, because I'm not a fan of fake American cheese but the rest of the sandwich was yummy and the place is not as far as I thought! ;)

Hannah's is a great way to start your day with espresso and fresh fruit or a breakfast sandwich. Then if you are hungry for lunch you can go back and enjoy sandwichs, salads or desert. That's usually what I do. Everytime I go to Hannahs she greets me with her smile. Hannah's sweet  desert creations are awesome. All of my co-workers love going to Hannahs cafe and rave about the cupcakes and bannana bread that she bakes fresh.  I enjoy Hannahs so much that when she is closed I go to Nearby cafes and it does not compare. Hannahs is the best place for coffee, breakfast and lunch.

Hannah's hummingbird cake is the best! She told us it's her own recipe and you can tell from the great combination of banana and pineapple with the right amount of light spices to not overwhelm the fruity goodness. And the croissant sandwiches are too good to mention because she seems to run out of them early because of the high demand, so I'm reluctant to encourage more of a demand for them. A really wonderful place for lunch.

We've tried every iteration of this coffee shop.  Finally, it seems the right owner has arrived.  Friendly, water bowl for the dogs, Great coffee, yummy smoothies.  Oh, and try the pastries (LOVE her homemade Madeleines).  I hope people go there so she makes it.  I'm thrilled she's here.
