Review from Nancy K.
Phoenix, AZ
I was so happy I accepted my daughter's invitation to work for Make-A-Difference this past Sat.(4-19). I have never done this kind of volunteering before and I have to say it was so rewarding. We worked at a school because it was a servicethon for schools in the Phoenix area. There were different projects we could choose from and they weren't just stupid little projects either. They actually had a stencil of the map of the United States that was copied onto the cement in front of the library and then they painted all the states in difference colors. It was gorgeous. We picked up litter from the grounds, some people worked in a garden, while others were in the pre-school room washing toys, table, and chairs. We were also cutting out different projects that the teacher never gets a chance to do.
I would highly recommend that you do this sometime in your lifetime and you will realize what you have missed. It is a wonderful opportunity to give back and help others. -

Make A Difference is a great organization for those who would like to volunteer, but aren't sure where to go or what to do. The organization has numerous volunteer opportunities throughout the Valley, and vary depending on your skills and interests. Their website is a great resource for all kinds of projects, special events and even courses you can take. They even have streamlined the process to become a volunteer. You can go to one of their scheduled volunteer orientation sessions or you can do one online. Once you've complete it, you are all set to volunteer.
I recently participated in their annual Serve-a-thon for Schools, and I was really impressed. There were numerous projects at schools around Phoenix, and it all seemed to be well-organized and a great success. All of the volunteers were ready to work, and everyone shared a common goal of giving back to our community. I'll definitely be participating in more events like these as well as some of their other volunteer opportunities.
If you want to make a difference in your community and in your life, definitely give Make A Difference a try.
