This is "THE FIRST" Japanese restaurant where my fiancee ate EVERYTHING and he NEVER eats everything! He even ate all his miso soup and he HATES miso! LOL I guess that tells you something....IDK if this place is aware that they have 2 yelps up for the same HANA restaurant but I opted to go for the one with the more reviews but sadly one less star than the other=/ ANYWHOO....Tired of people comparing Japanese restaurants in the valley as oppose to the bay area...REALLY??? OF COURSE THE BAY IS NONCOMPARABLE lol but since we have no choice and live in the valley...well, we have no choice haha....First of all my Fiancee ate everything including miso and salad and that's unusual of him but he loved them both and our appetizer was pretty good, we had calamari which came out into nugget looking pieces and the dipping sauce was so good...HENCE I WAS STARVING AT THIS POINT. I got the assorted sashimi and it did not taste good but I was starving so I ate it anyway but my fiancee ordered the sesame chicken and beef teriyaki....MY OH MY the sesame chicken was THE BEST chicken I've ever tasted at a japanese restaurant before and even my son didn't eat his chicken teriyaki, instead he ate his dad's plate hahahaha. I was pretty upset about the sashimi (only the salmon was tasty) but next time I will try the hamachi sashimi because the assorted was gross and the last time I had nasty assorted sashimi was in Virginia. I was looking forward to my assorted sashimi thinking there would be hamachi in there but sadly there wasn't =(
I will be back and if the hamachi isn't fresh then this place would be a no-no but that's sad since my fiancee actually likes it but I'm a raw fish lover who bases how good a restaurant is according to their raw fish. HOWEVER, the restaurant in itself is a very pleasant experience and I love the background music and how quiet and unpacked it was even though there was a bday going on it was still very pleasant and I love the not so crowded areas and our waitress was extremely nice!

The food is delicious, service is good, waitresses are nice. The only issue I have is when the lunch rush hour hits, you get ignored. I waited a half an hour just to get a box and still no check. Finally had to get up and get the check myself. Hope it's not like this at dinner time.

I'd really rather give them a 3.5 but I chose lower cause I really didn't enjoy my appetizers.

Both the soft shell crab and calamari were too breaded for my taste and pretty flavorless. The calamari is served with some spicy mayo and dipping things in mayo is just disgusting to me.

We got the dragon roll ($10) which was pretty good. I got the spicy pork ($12)  with rice which came out on a sizzling plate, that was also really good.

Decent food for decent prices. It's really cute inside. The sushi is cheaper than cocoro but the servings are smaller so I don't think its fair to say its REALLY cheaper. I'd stick with the entrees, skip the appetizers.

Not the best place for sushi ....but they do have very affordable japanese food and lunch is the best time to get take out

I always order the bento box because i get to pick two items off the bento  box list - i love there sesame chicken its so crunchy tangy and not over sauced like other places in stockton, and portion wise is more then enough to feed to people (=

my second item of course was the sashimi .. i alway judge how good a japanese restaurant  is by there raw fish ...
the fish by far was not fresh but was previously frozen ..and my tuna was a little gray around the edge .. i got 5 good size piecesof sake and maguro... but the taste was very questionable ? i dont think ill order there raw fish agn but i do love the sesame chicken light crunchy and very filling !!! btw u get a bowl of steam rice and a bowl of miso with yur bento box

my boyfriend ordered the dragon roll ...very boring ..too much rice ..not enough eel... avacado was browning ...and sauce way very week

our waitress was quick and nice but it took her awhile to get us our  utensil.. by the time she gave it to us my miso was cold )= but kudos for food coming out quick - not the best place to go for quality raw fish and sushi ...but i will go again to try out the BOAT SPECIALS !!

I've always walked buy this place, but because i never could see inside the building i never went in...

until 2 weeks ago. it was quite, very well decorated and pleasant.

food: simple and to the point. not over sauced and fresh tasting.

i will be back for more because its closer to my living arrangements.

This place is very good. It is small and cozy. The interior is very nice and well decorated and it is a quiet atmosphere. I would recommend this place for a date since it is really nice and quiet inside.
Their sushi rolls are alright and their fish is fresh. But the best thing here is their Udon! The seafood udon they make here is one of the bests. They load the bowl with seafood such as salmon, mussels, squid, mini scallops, and some salmon. There is also plenty of udon noodles and broth is delicious. I just wasn't expecting so much seafood! I would come here all the time just for the Seafood Udon. Their Monster Roll is pretty good as well. Very satisfying and good place overall.

Food: 4 star- There is always room for improvement.
    Service:5 Star-No explanation needed.
    Ambience: 3 star.

This is the old Yonedas after they moved from downtown and eventually closed.... I'm not sure when it became Hana Sushi... but my mom called me and told me to meet her at 'ANA Sushi'.  I yelped it... to no avail.  She told me it was the old Yonedas.  We drive up, and it says, 'Hana Sushi'.

And I think one of the previous yelps is an employee.  I'm not saying which one.

Very good sushi.  You'd never now that it's hidden in the Food Maxx shopping center.  The service was excellent.

    Ick.  Never again.

I told my husband, "Ok...we'll have sashimi and if it's good then we'll come back and try some rolls."  We made a big mistake of ordering the chef's special sashimi.  20+ pieces of pure crap.  I've never been so disappointed.  How can you screw up raw fish?  For one...it was obviously not fresh.  It was more like previously frozen fish which I'm okay with using for lomi lomi or ahi poke.  But, not for a sashimi order.  Freakin' nasty.  I'm feeling sick just thinking about it.

Ok WTF???? I know I wrote a review of this place. Where did it go?!!

Anyways, when we first moved to Stockton this was my favorite sushi place. It's small, quiet, food is really good and it reminded me of my favorite sushi place in San Jose....Minatos. Yum! I'm getting hungry just thinking of Minatos =)

I had to take off two stars cuz the last couple of times that we ate at Hana Sushi, the service was bad. The food is still good but I just can't see waiting over 30 minutes for a shrimp tempura roll. What did they have to go catch my shrimp??? Lately we've been doing only take-out but they can still be a little slow.

So, my wife and I were in Stockton, and so we put Sushi into our GPS, and we found this place.  There were quite a few people in it, and they had a good review of their restaurant posted in their restaurant, so we decided to stay.

Overall, it was not bad.  Their sushi was really good, we thought.  The entrees we had was not the most wonderful thing we had; my wife had a stir fry udon dish and I had a mackerel teriyaki.  We both thought they were just okay.  We both wished we had just gotten more sushi and skipped the meals.  ;-)

Overall, good sushi, but otherwise, would skip their meals.

This is one of the few traditional-ish japanese restaurants in Stockton, I'd say. Its very quiet here, slow mellow japanese instrumental music in the background, friendly waitresses in kimonos. I haven't gone here in awhile but I remember liking it. They use rib-eye for their beef teriyaki which is why its $15 but its so tender and yummy. They dont' have any crazy saucey rolls here, the "wildest" would be a dragon roll which is just unagi and avocado I think. I haven't been here in awhile but I plan to. Service is of course, very good and attentive, bar area is very small (only seats 4 I think) and doesn't get packed often but if you want quiet and peaceful, this is it.

Almost forgot, I love their calamari, comes with a delicious sauce on the side.

The hubby and i really like this place. The waitresses are always super nice and friendly. I think they have some of the best tempura. Crunchy but not greasy. The rolls are typical sushi restaurant rolls, however the unagi lovers roll is pretty damn good. They also have this spicy pork dish that is crazy good, Comes out sizzling on one of those hot plates. Its also a big plus for us cause its close by where we live.

The Sushi was really good. I got the monster roll but not deep fried due to health reasons, it probably would have been amazing the way it was intended, I also got unagi and though unagi is amazing everywhere there's was definitely one of my favs. Both my parents loved there sushi, we all agree that it is one of the best sushi resteraunts in town, and we love sushi. Out waitress Kali was super friendly and very helpful. AMAZING FOOD + AMAZING SERVICE what more could one ask for.

Hana Sushi really does live up to its name. Hana means flower in Japanese, so hence the little flower design on their logo. The restaurant itself is beautiful to look at, like a flower, but it's not too kind on the taste buds, like a flower. (no I don't eat flowers)

Sadly, I have to compare this place to other sushi places I've been to, which means it gets comparisons to Union City, Hayward, and Fremont sushi places. Just because this place is in some ghetto strip mall of Stockton doesn't mean it gets a mercy star or two. The sushi here was a little ho hum. Me and the gf ordered a Giants roll, a Sake Lovers roll, and a Crunchy roll. The Giants roll was the best one actually, despite it being one of those novelty named rolls. Unagi in it had some pretty thick bones though. The Sake Lovers roll was alright, but despite it being full of salmon, I didn't really get too much of that salmon taste. And finally the Crunchy roll. Since this was my first time here, I decided to order one of my favorites from other sushi places. Wow I was pretty disappointed. I guess I'm so used to seeing the mountains of tempura flakes at other places (Mioki) that it was kind of depressing seeing a barely there coating of tempura flakes here.

Service is the only thing keeping this from being a 1 star review though. Service has to be damn good to get a star on it's own, and they waitresses here were great. Did their job well and looked happy doing it. Good job on that.

Probably going to try the other sushi options in town before making judgements on coming back here. But for now, it's looking like I won't be back at all.

I've been going here for years, although sporadically.

But lately it seems that business has slowed down, and I think I know why. The waitress we had last was fairly rude, and there was only one other group in the dining area. She did not come to see how we were doing, nor did she deliver our check after all the food and plates were taken from the table. We asked for Avocado on the side, which she said she couldn't do because it would be soft. Weird, because all other places were able to do it fine. It's not that we were being picky, but allergies really do dampen things.

Would I go back? Sure, but if things keep going as poorly as they have been, I may have to reconsider.

I gave the place two stars, because service is slow, but usually decent. Food is decent, and price is fair.

first of all, the service was HORRIBLE. three of my friends and i waited by the door to be seated for nearly 15 min. we were hardly acknowledged until about 10 minutes into our wait, and even after their recognition, they did not make it a priority to bus any of the tables which could seat us. we decided to wait 2 more minutes and when we were about to sit, one of the sushi chefs bussed a table for us.

the food was mediocre in comparison to other japanese retaurants in stockton. i had the ninja roll and the tempura appetizer, and i didn't feel full from it. i thought the rolls were sweeter than i would've liked. our food was served really spaced out, and i felt at moments we weren't eating together. one of my friends didn't get his miso soup until the end of the meal, even though they comp'ed it (i guess i can't complain about that).

    i won't be coming back.

When I was going to college in Stockton, I use to frequent here more often than Cocoro or Shomi's. It was very mellow, with Japanese music softly playing in the background and waitresses in kimonos serving you. We'd usually get Boat A just because it had a bit of everything and could easily feed a group of 4. We'd get it with chicken and beef teriyaki, Ca rolls, gyoza,  and tempura. Salad, miso soup and rice were also included.

I should have been warned when I walked in to pick up my take out and there was not a soul in the place.  Really, the sushi wasn't bad, but it wasn't all that great.  The sushi rice was very sticky and it didn't seem like it was fresh.  I'd say that was my biggest complaint.  I'd much rather go to CoCoRo.

Perhaps one of the worst places to eat sushi/sashimi. As always, not having learned, I ordered a chirashi. It was nauseating, that they could serve that quality of fish. As usual, I inspect the texture and color of the fish. The maguro was just awful, almost to the point of mushy. I should have smelled it first, as when it hit my tongue, i could already sense the fishiness. The fish was old, and should have never been served. Regardless to say, I did not finish my meal, paid for it asap, left NO tip for the appalling quality, and grabbed a bunch of mints on the way out to flush the disgusting taste out of mouth.

They also make the best Miso Soup that I have had in town! I would recommend this place to anyone. Its such a shame that it is hidden in a shopping center.
