3 reviews for Hana Bay Beach
Maui is Wowie!
We had the pleasure of a family vacation here years ago.
The Black Sand Beach was probably my family's favorite
stop along the road to Hana.
The sand is black...it truly is black and stunning.
We spent a couple hours here, adventuring into cool
caves, playing on the beach and simply absorbing all
the beauty surrounding us.
There was a shaved ice stand in the park area;
nice refreshing snack.
For anybody adventuring to Maui, the road to Hana is
worth your while...take your time to stop and smell the
roses...or whatever flowers are along your path.
It is at least a one day trip; full day...
long, long winding road to Hana.
The Hana Bay/Black Sand Beach is a must see.
Some sunny photos are posted. You can see my foot in
the spectacular black sand...
can I be Elite now since I posted a somewhat recent photo?
:-D
sweeeet beach. Even sweeter is the breakfast place that opens up at 7am on the beach! I have no idea what its called but it's right across the street.
The black sand beach is definitely one of the highlights of the Road to Hana. Beautiful swimming beach. The volcanic sand is weightier than regular sand, so when you come out of the ocean, you feel totally clean, and have no sand in your hair. Whatever you do, don't bring Shaved Ice (the Hawaiian version of Snow Cones) down to the beach with you. This will attract oodles of fire-ants. We learned the hard way, which shortened our lovely nap on the beach :( The natural cave is fabulous, as is the park surrounding the bay.
