4 reviews for Hampton Inn Ukiah
We have a small history with this Hampton Inn that is part of a major event in our lives. For several years we had wanted to move up to the Mendocino area from San Diego, and we spent 1/2 of 2007 and early 2008 coming up to the Ukiah area looking for a home. We were lucky enough that my husband had a job lined up already.
So after spending a weekend at a B & B in Little River one July [ nice, but too far away ] , then a very sketchy motel in Cloverdale in Dec [ hey, it let us have our dog !! ], we had the relief & pleasure of deciding to stay here for our next 2 visits in the late winter.
I can't tell you enough about the great beds-- fluffy comforter & pillows, silky smooth linens, good mattress. It was heaven... I didn't want to get up and out. But I had to -- house hunting to do!
One especially tiring & fruitless day we got back after a dinner out. Got into the PJ's & cozied into" 'that bed ." Just almost asleep & alarms start going off. I'm in the dark, hitting the clock radio and John says " it's the fire alarm." So the whole place marches down to the lobby in their jammies, then out into the parking lot for a few hours. It wasn't a false alarm, but not too serious.
Our room was quiet [ note alarms above ], clean, spacious. The breakfast was adequate... I didn't much care for the egg dishes, which were their hot entree's the mornings we were there.
But this Hampton Inn gave us comfort in a trying time, and now that we live in Ukiah, I pass by it and those days seem long ago.

The hotel is clean, comfy beds and a good size bathroom. We didn't get to breakfast until about 9:45am, so the eggs weren't looking good and there was no more bacon. Made my own waffle and had some other goodies..which were adequate.
My only complaint is that, even though, we were at the end of the hall...you can still here the ice machine in the morning. On the 3rd floor, there are refrigerators in the rooms and it woke me up several times plus we had to run the air conditioner, since it was a bit warm and that was loud, as well.
I really don't know where to begin on this review, so I'll just give you about the entire story.
From Sept 2004-May 2005 I was attending classes M-F until 10pm. In addition to that, I worked 40+ hours a week and had 3 kids.
After finally finishing school and having the luck to be laid off, I found myself with a nice 'package' and free time. I decided to take the kids up north to the redwoods camping. It would be just the 4 of us, but it was at a campground that I'd been to before. On the way up there it began to rain. Badly. Consistently. My dad told me camping in the rain would be fun (remind me to whack him next time I see him).
My oldest daughter and I got the tents set up but it was raining pretty hard. I ended up pulling all the seats out of my minivan and inflating the air mattress in the van so we could sleep in it. If we had to use the bathoom, we had to step in puddles. The next morning my vcr in the van broke. I went to check on the tents and they were full of water on the bottom. Apparently the campsite was a bowl and everything was wet.
I started crying because the trip to make up for a year of neglecting them was turning out so bad. We headed home.
I didn't want the entire trip to be ruined and really didn't want to go home to my husband (at the time's) ridiculing.
On the way home I passed the Hampton Inn in Ukiah and I ran inside. The girl at the front desk was young with long red-hair. I think she knew something was up when I almost started crying relaying the story to her. Then I asked if they had a room with a jacuzzi. YES! I still can't get over how nice she was. I swear she was like a therapist.
I took the kids up to the room via luggage cart. The room was perfect. a huge king size bed, jacuzzi IN THE ROOM (not the bathroom) with a couch, gas fireplace, tv and balcony. As soon as we got in the room the kids were in their bathing suits in the jacuzzi while i laid on the bed with the fireplace and tv on. I told the kids 'I love camping!'
We headed over to Applebees for dinner and then back to the room.
The next morning they had an all you can eat breakfast, which made it really easy with kids.
This Hampton Inn turned something so devestating into something wonderful. I've tried staying at other Hampton Inn's (Santa Cruz, etc) but none compare to Ukiah.

This place is very new and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. The complementary breakfast had several hot items, was well-stocked, and was the best of any Hampton Inn I've stayed in. But I'm downrating it because it's pretty spendy for Ukiah.
