Stayed here for two nights this past week during a work visit to Santa Cruz. Checked in about 6:30 pm - had a room on the third floor. Room was nice - although when I first got to the room - the room was way to warm and stuffy.

Fortunately, the stand alone AC unit was very effective in quickly cooling the room off.

Each room has an ethernet hookup to get on the 'net. As well as a large flat screen HD TV, a DVD Player (Not Blu Ray though), a microwave, coffeemaker, and refrigerator.

The bed was to soft and mushy for me. I prefer a firm mattress. My back is still hurting from the mushy hotel bed I had the week before in Chicago. The room has a decent computer desk, nice bathroom, and so forth.

The HD TV has about 100 channels - but only four of them are HD. C'mon guys! Let's make those HD sets sing! More HD channels!

One unfortunate feature is that the room doors slam very loudly if one lets them go - the second evening - someone kept letting the doors slam at the rooms adjacent to mine. I intentionally slowly and quietly closed mine so as to not disturb anyone else.

The hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast - very basic - baked goods, cold cereals, fruit, coffee, juice, etc.

It seems like it's one of the better hotels in the Santa Cruz area. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this place for one weekend night to support a weekend trip to Santa Cruz. We didn't want to spend $300 like at the Dream Inn or The Chaminade. So we chose this place. We have a 3 y.o. So being near the boardwalk and the beach was important to us. This place hit the spot.

They recently remodeled so the rooms are nice and have exceptional bedding, i.e. new down comforters and down pillows. They have brand new furniture which includes a large screen digital TV. The bathrooms have a large wooden counter top with a deep bowl sink and a very large antique detailed mirror. Quarters are tight, make no mistake, but the quality is good.

They provide complimentary breakfast which is pretty good. They offer a wide variety of items like cereal, eggs, muffins, etc. I don't recall what brand of coffee they offer, but I do recall that it hit the spot at 8:00am.

Internet access is free in the lobby. There is only one PC. So you may have to wait for your turn, but it is current technology and hardware.

Event though I was on a family local trip, I've traveled for the living in a past life. I would recommend this place even for business travelers. It's a quick drive or cab ride to downtown Santa Cruz for dining and entertainment. They have Internet access in the rooms with a nice, comfortable chair and desk. And who can beat complimentary breakfast when you're running out the door for an early morning meeting?

I'm convinced that this is one of the most cleanest and reasonably priced hotels in Santa Cruz. I have stayed here with others and on a few occasions with my own party. The beds are comfy and could fit 4 of me (i.e., king size bed).

Want some late night grub? Try Denny's next door or go further down the street to Santa Cruz Diner. Granted, these are not the best places to eat...I would rather eat than starve.

On a nice day, you can take a 15-minute walk to downtown. This means that you don't have to hassle with parking. ;D

Forget the fancy schmancy (i.e. expensive) B&B's and ghetto-ass beach front Motel 6 lookalikes.

Hampton Inn includes breakfast and is reasonable compared to the high and low end places around.  Even though there's no workout room, you get a complimentary pass to the nearby Gold's Gym.

Don't forget to get the AAA rate if you're a AAA member - it's worth it.  And, I was able to get a better rate over the phone than the internet.  Surprised.

The standard Hampton Inn, nice enough, comfortable, etc.  I feel a bit pricey for what you get.  I didn't feel especially good about being next to Denny's though could be convenient .  Unfortunately there aren't many good choices in Santa Cruz.

We had a family reunion and 4 different groups of family members researched their own hotels to stay in.  We all chose the Hampton based on price and quality.  And we were not disappointed.

They have a great little breakfast [me loves my sausages]. The king size bed was comfy.

It may not be that close to the beach but it's the first hotel into and out of Santa Cruz.

The only quirk was that the room keys kept expiring.  We went back four times to reset.  But I'll put a positive spin on that and call that an extra security feature.  Free of charge.

The rooms are very clean, the beds are excellent. my family liked the breakfast and coffee. My kids loved the pool (indoor, heated, quite small but they didn't care). The hotel was quiet even though we had neighbors next door. Most importantly, the staff was really exceptionally nice and accomodating to us. We are now using them to put employees up when we bring them in from out of town.

i wanted to stay at a B&B, but they were all booked, so the hamptons it was. my problem with the place was that it had no fitness center and the pool left something to be desired (it's so small!!!) they do offer comp passes to golds gym, but i was being lazy. the pillows and comforter were very comfy, the heater worked great, and they offered all kinds of cable channels and free wifi. we had issues with the shower in that the curtain did not cover the shower entirely, so i was freezing the entire time. our room was right next to the lobby and breakfast area, and we were woken up early by the sound of fatty fat fats getting their grub on. it was kind of nice rolling out of the room to get breakfast in bed. the manager adjusted our rate for the inconvenience and noisiness, which i thought was nice. i wouldn't stay there again, although its location of being right off the freeway and walking distance to mariannes, dennys, and ferrells donuts is nice.
