Hampton Inn
2 reviews for Hampton Inn
My expectations of hotels are quite simple: clean rooms, safe area, comfortable beds, a decent shower, and friendly staff.
The Hampton Inn here totally blew me away in terms of service, my room was absolutely spotless, there was free Wi-Fi, complimentary hot breakfast in the morning, and a general ease in checking in, checking out, and even reserving my hotel stay a few hours before I showed up.
The beds were really comfortable, and I slept through the night, which usually NEVER happens when I'm traveling. They didn't screw up my wake up call in the morning, and the front desk woman who checked me in at midnight the night I arrived chided me for not grabbing breakfast the next day when I was running to meetings. She was sweet, I felt like I was really being taken cared of.
I'd definitely stay here again.

Okay, so, the Hampton Inn is really nothing special as far as hotels go, but this place deserves five stars for its excellent service. My (very large extended) family is about to have its second family reunion in Connecticut, and both times we've booked large groups of rooms at the Hampton Inn in Rocky Hill for all of the out of town cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. As an out of town cousin from Los Angeles, I stayed here the first time and will be staying here again, and I'm consistently amazed at how well this place is run. When I booked my room this time around the woman on the phone was friendly, efficient, knew exactly who my family was and what our group rate was, got everything taken care of for me and even emailed me the reservation confirmation before I even hung up the phone! It was one of the smoothest transactions of any kind I've ever engaged in.
Furthermore, the rooms here are clean, spacious, and well-equipped, and the rates (even non-group rates) are very reasonable. There are several stores and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Nothing fancy, mind you, but if you need to make a late-night run to Wal-Mart or grab a bite to eat , you won't necessarily need your car.
I wouldn't plan a luxury vacation here, but if you're traveling here on business or are visiting friends/family in the area, this is an excellent place to stay.
P.S. Free wireless Internet access, hooray!
