Hampton Inn is 1 of 2 choices in the Santa Barbara area for Hilton HHonors members.  The other being the DoubleTree with a much better location in Santa Barbara proper.  But I've read other reviews indicating it is next to train tracks with trains tooting their horns even in the middle of the night.  So I decided I'd try HI.  While HI is not technically in SB, it is just a short drive to SB's main attractions.

Getting there I missed the entrance to this place, so here's a tip.  Drive down Hollister and turn south into the hotel entrance when you see Kinman Ave.  There wasn't much parking up front for guests checking in, so you may have to park in the back and walk back to the front to check in.

Hotel itself was well-maintained and the service was excellent.  Free delicious cookies were available when I checked-in.  As a Gold VIP member, I also received a free bottled water and a snack from their mini-mart.  The elevator though for some reason is very slow.

The non-smoking king-bed standard room was nice.  (Think studio apt).  King bed had bedding that was just average and it wouldn't hurt to have nicer pillows (mine was somewhat flat).  Small refrigerator and microwave were available.  Bathroom was ok with nice decor, single sink, small tub, waterpik shower head.  Living room consisted of a couch, lounge chair, and a medium-sized LCD TV that could be rotated to face the bed or living area.  There were two large windows facing the pool area.  Bad thing was, there were thin curtains but no heavy curtains to block out the morning sun.  If you are a late-riser, I'd recommend asking for a room not facing the east.

Free breakfast is offered from 6AM-10AM and included scrambled eggs, ham, donuts, muffins, english muffins, breads, cereals, yogurt, mixed fruit, a few juices, coffee, and teas.  Decent selection for a free offering.

P.S. One thing to note, there seemed to be a lot of cop cars pulling people over in the general vicinity.  The night I arrived, I was making a u-turn and had a cop car head the other direction, light up, and pull someone over nearly in front of the HI.  Coming back after a late dinner, again someone was pulled over in nearly the same spot.  The morning while we were having breakfast, I looked out and spotted at least 2 more cop cars passing by.  I don't know what's going on, but as they say, watch your six.

I have to say the service is great and the free breakfast and free cookies are great. I have stayed at a few high end hotels and i have received better service here

I love this hotel.  Hot breakfast is so good. I love sausage and waffle. The room is very clean.  There are refrigerator and microwave in room.  The best thing are bed and blanket .  They are so soft and warm....I can't believe that it is 2 star hotel in priceline. Using priceline, I got $85/night (about $100 net) for weekend night, usually it is$200.  Very recommend
