It's the Hampton Inn, c'mon!
BUT, it's the best Hampton Inn I've been at. The front desk people were super friendly and they made good dinner suggestions.
They have an adequate workout facility and a free breakfast, what's not to like? The rooms are clean and have comfortable beds, the only downside is that the walls are really thin. I knew exactly when the individual next door was taking a shower, and what they were watching on television.
If you want to see the NJ Nets play basketball the IZOD center is just down the street, as is the NY Giant Stadium. It takes about 20 minutes to get here from the Newark, NJ airport
I was expecting a kind of crappy hotel when I reserved this for American Idol auditions in 2006, I'll admit... but I was so pleasantly surprised!
Yes, the walls are very thin, but that actually resulted in us meeting some great friends to practice singing with and hang out with! The free breakfast, though a little icky, was free and therefore much appreciated on a poor just-graduated-from-college budget. The room rates were awesome and there was free Internet. Beds were exceedingly comfortable and the location was perfect for the city without all of the congestion an crazy prices.
If I'm ever going to New York again, which hopefully I will, I'll definitely look into this hotel again. And we checked out a day earlier than expected and they refunded me, which I didn't expect. The concierge service was superb. For a typical so-so hotel chain, this Hampton Inn far surpassed my expectations!

i stay here for business a lot, very nice place for the money. tons of tourists though, and pretty slow wireless.
