Review from Rayne W.
San Francisco, CA
I would rate my stay at the Hampton Inn a solid 4 stars.
Rene was simply sweet! When you check in, you get the whole introduction (times for the free breakfast - and they even had biscuits and gravy - one of the mornings I was there- yum!) I stayed 3 days and 2 nights. The pool looked nice but I didn't have time to use it.
The bathroom was spacious, bathtub and shower was nice and of course, there was free wifi. I was disappointed that there was no mini fridge or microwave but realized very quickly that I could heat up food in the microwave they have in the cafeteria area. And did I also mention that they are literally right next door to Meijer's? It's awesome because that store is open 24 hours (it's like an upgraded version of Wal-Mart) and you can buy your food & bring it back to your room and start chowing down on your food and drink while watching some tv. I also really like the fact that they have a clock that is very easy to set the alarm and...if you can't sleep well, they have options where you can "play music" or have "nature sounds" - the sound of waves...reminds me of home *sigh* - I miss the beach ...yes, back home, I live near the beach. A lake is just not the same. lol
I enjoyed the fact that you could also adjust the spray variation on the HUGE showerhead (seriously, it was big, lol) but there was a bit of fear that maybe the water would not be warm enough because...when you turn the dial - it's a short distance. You'll know what I mean if you decide to stay there but luckily, there was plenty of hot water for me. But seriously, if there was no hot water for a 4pm shower..then that hotel would have serious problems.
So the best part of the hotel is that they have two public computers and one of them allows you to print...for FREE! And you can print your papers in color too. I had a whole of bunch of slides I needed to study and I printed about 30-40 pages and the printer ran out of paper. Thankfully the young gentleman at the front desk was quick to respond and also very nice. He gave me a whole stack of blank paper. I also need to mention that Rene was very kind too because she had another employee help me out by making copies of my friend's notes! Fast, efficient and very accomodating service.
The only reason I took off a star is because the bed wasn't as comfortable and even though the sheet (and yes, I mean sheet as in they only give you 1) was clean but that comforter...there is just something about that crinkly off yellow color that made me think "oh goodness, I hope they wash that," I dunno, lol.
Overall, great experience and good hotel staff! -

I'd agree with my GF down here. A nice Hampton Inn for sure. The big whirlpool tub was a bonus after the drive and we could watch TV at the same time. The Hotel is pretty new and is a quick drive to campus and the stadiums. Breakfasts at the Hampton Inns are usually all pretty quality and this was no let down.
My girlfriend was really impressed by the cartoon map they provided to get around town since neither of us went to school at MSU. -

My boyfriend and I went to drop my sister off in East Lansing this past weekend and he had some Hilton Rewards points for us to use. The hotel was almost booked, and so we took a room with two queens - or so we thought... We actually got a huge king bed with a 2 person whirlpool tub. The amenities were impecible and incredibly comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the continental breakfast was more than just your average cereal and bagels. If you are visiting MSU (this is only 5 minutes from campus and right off of I-96) I would definitely recommend this hotel.
