Halo is now officially on my list of top 5 favorite things to do on my lunch hour.
This location is perfect for a break from office monotony and spreadsheet boredom. Check out their website for a description of services and prices AND you acn book your appointment and even choose a stylist all through the website. Love that. So I went in for "The Man" and met Hannah. She asked a few questions about my typical style and what I was looking for and I ended up giving her a big sob story about my search for the perfect haircut. She took one look at my cut and pointed out every single thing about my hair that I hate so I knew I had been going about my "style" all wrong. All along I just thought I had a weird shaped melon or petulant hair that refused to cooperate and come together in a medium brown semblance of hair harmony. Instead Hannah just pointed out what previous stylists have been doing wrong and what she thought would work. And you know what? It totally did. A little on the expensive side? Yes. But it's amazing what getting a really great haircut can do for your confidence so how do you put a price tag on that.
A friend referred me here after he got his hair cut and i was a bit sceptical about it. but after my first time there i have to say i was the most impressed i have ever been with a haircut.
With your haircut you also get a scalp and neck massage and a hand massage. And the place itself is awesome. A total guy place. If any guys are feeling girly about going to a man spa... dont!
They have flat screen tvs with sports playing, the girls who cut hair are gorgeous, and the waiting rooms are so relaxing.
This place can be pricey but its worth every penny.
First of all, I'm bald - not balding - Bald. Every once in a while, I like to get my head shaved by someone other than my Mach 3. Having sun-burned my head while at a tailgate party the previous week, I had to let my head go unattended for seven days. Looking to take advantage of my situation, I went online to find a place downtown (as my place by home was closed) and came across Halo.
I went in for "The Shave", but asked them to alter it for my head rather than my face. Hannah (my barber) debated for a moment, but then took the challenge as this was not something that they normally do.
I got exactly what I wanted. Hannah was great: personable without coming across like a Hooter's waitress who can cut hair (which is what I was a bit worried about). She knew what she was doing and I would definitely recommend her.
Halo was targeted to men (e.g. good music, TVs showing sports at the barber chairs, etc.); and while some may comment on the prices being too high, they are on par with any salon downtown. If you want something other than a strict "barbershop", give this place a shot.
BTW: I used their online reservation system. It had a great user experience. You can pick your time, the type of cut, and choose your barber.
First, the address is misleading. The place is easiest entered from the door on Clark Street, north of Madison (east side of the street).
So if you're looking for that salon treatment, this is a great place. I got their "The Man" treatment for a grand opening special for $29 (regular $45). Includes shampoo, paraffin hand was, hot towel on face, haircut, rinse, and one beverage.
This was my first salon experience as opposed to walking into a Great Clips. Personally, I just don't think those extra services are worth the extra money. My stylist doesn't like to use clippers, so your haircut looks a little more natural, and you don't have that "Just got my haircut" look.
All in all, for me it was a one time thing. Doubt I'll ever go back -- not because of poor service or dissatisfaction, just not worth it to me.
Definitely a great concept and idea.
Went there on a dope coupon for "The Man," came out looking hot. Since this was the loop location, I was worried "The Man" would be more like "The Bro," or even worse "The Broker," but my stylist (Hannah) was outstandingly attentive and I got the exact cut that I wanted. I don't know what people are talking about with the $45 not being "worth it" - I was already paying that before for a cut alone. The hand massage, wax, facial treatment, etc. are all perfect perks for when you want to feel like the dude that all the men want to be and the women want to be with.
Only thing is the place is hard to find - it's by the entrance around the corner, NOT the one on Madison.
