Like many of the last few people who have posted reviews, I found out about Hall of Faces and Denise after purchasing a body wrap service through Buy With Me. I bought the body wrap when I was a lot heavier and then forgot about it. Despite the fact that I no longer have much of a need for a body wrap or to lose inches, I enjoyed my appointment today very much.
Denise is very friendly and sincere. I am usually somewhat awkward with aestheticians and hair stylists but Denise's calming, easy manner made me feel comfortable from the start. My body wrap was very relaxing, but the real bonus was the mini-facial I got during the whole treatment! Denise did a bit of microdemabrasion on me and applied a calming mask to soothe my skin. I left feeling relaxed and peaceful and with my skin looking a lot better than it usually does after facials. I liked Denise's mini-facial so much I will definitely be going back for one of her customized facials soon! -

Hi Denise!
I'm a fan of Hall of Faces for 2 reasons; this is an example of a private local Woman owned business in San Francisco, and #2 the Hayes Valley ~ Haight Street area is one of my favorite neighborhoods to visit. I had a double appointment with a friend of mine, in which we were seen back to back. If we had requested both of us to be seen at the same time, we were told that 2 massage tables could be set up. We both opted for a Body Wrap through a "Buy with Me" deal. This was our first body wrap, so we had no idea what to except.
A visit with a good friend is how I would describe my experience with Denise. Denise is polite and you can talk to her about any topic and feel comfortable. As a medical esthetician, you can ask Denise medical questions and know you'll be met with professional answers. I enjoyed the fact that this business is ran from the home, with a beautiful garden and personalized decor. I like real people, and real conversation while having my beauty treatments ~ so I'm a fan.

This is a long overdue post.
Denise is AMAZING!! I didn't really know what to expect after reading the reviews on Hall of Faces. Some say it's in her basement, some say it's really comfy and homey. I wasn't really sure how it was going to all turn out. It was my very first body wrap and I was a bit uneasy about it. Sure, my curiousity got the best of me & I jumped at the chance of trying it out when Buy with me had a deal going on. But after I bought it, I was a bit nervous as to what I should expect.
On the day of my appointment, I ended up bringing a magazine with me because I wasn't sure what the standard procedures were--i thought she was going to wrap me up and leave me alone for a good 45 minutes before coming back to check up on me. Once I arrived at the location, I was a little confused as to where the entrance was. However, I did remember reading somewhere that the entrance is around the side.
To get to the front of the door, you need to walk to the "back" of the building (you don't need to go up the stairs). You'll see a sign that says Hall of faces & a doorbell.
I was really impressed with the setup! By the sounds of what I read on the reviews (mainly the "it's in her basement") I did not expect a nice a garden area and AMAZINGLY decorated room.
THe second I walked in, Denise was really welcoming & immediately offed me some antioxidants (grapes & blueberries) as well as some tea.
Then she proceeded with a foot soak/scrub before sending me off to the bathroom to change into a robe. She then proceeded in wrapping me up like a mummy and tucking me under some mylar blankets.
All the while i was under the blankets, she did a mini facial for me! After everything I left feeling refreshed and with soft skin!!
Denise is amazing and I highly recommend her! -

This place is great. I found it by way of the Lifebooker coupon for Microdermabration, my first time. It was a small place, kind of tucked away but very cozy and warm. The whole experience was great, very relaxing and enjoyable. I'll definitely be back here again.

I see Hall of Faces continues to sell themselves through deals e.g. Bloomspot (I came through that too) and there is a reason for that. I have bought 30 mins massage and a facial combo feeling lucky because the place is just a few minutes walking distance from me, but it's not worth it.
Massage was lame, I should have just gone to a proper one instead. The facial was not good either, for instance, there was no exfoliation. I was promised a follow up e-mail with tips about my skin....never received. The st -

I just got a microderm done over the weekend, with a Bloomspot deal. Denise was very welcoming and knowledgeable about skin. Unlike a couple of other spas/salons I've been to with a deal, she was very responsive about setting up an appointment (she fit me in on a Saturday with almost no lead time), and completely pampered me while I was there.
As other Yelpers have said, her spa space is the downstairs of her home, so there are no "amenities" here. However, I left feeling rejuvenated and relaxed and almost as though I'd spent half a day at a day spa.
It was a great deal, and I have to say the experience and service was worth the full price she charges normally. I'll be back! -

I found out about Hall of Faces/Denise through BuywithMe. I got two deals. One for the body wrap and the other for an oxygen facial. I have not had either done before so I was anxious and excited at the same time. I tried the wrap first and I admit I was a little nervous but Denise assured me that everything was going to be alright and that relaxation is the key. She started by wrapping me in these warm cloths and then tucked me into warm blankets. I felt like I was in a warm cocoon. It felt really nice. The wrap is meant to detoxify and if you go often enough for this particular service you will lose some inches. Anyway, while I was in this nice, warm cocoon, she gave a wonderful massage (feet, hands, shoulders) and I had a nice little mask put on! The whole process left me relaxed and I actually dozed off for a minute! After it was over, my skin looked great and felt really soft! It was amazing!
A week later, I tried the oxygen facial! It was amazing, too! I, unfortunately broke out from makeup I wore so she gave me a treatment to help with the break out. After it was over, my skin looked and felt so much better! The break out on my face came down and I left feeling good.
Denise is great and she really wants to take care of you and not just your skin. She creates such a peaceful setting and you end up feeling soooo relaxed! I can't wait to go back for more treatments...she is great! :) -

I had the pleasure of having my birthday party at Hall of Faces. I organized everything with Denise beforehand and she was kind, gracious and so helpful. She CLOSED the spa for the day to accommodate myself and the other 8 guests. I brought wine, champagne, food and a cake to make the day special. She was open to it all.
It was one of the best birthdays I have had ever.
Pros:
--Such an intimate setting. I was able to move around during the treatments and socialize with my guests.
--My massage/facial was wonderful, and my guests loved their body wraps.
--Denise does body wraps different than any other salon out there! Each of the guests got the body wraps and came to hang out with me and my friends all wrapped up like a mummy-The coolest part was that the guests were not trapped on a table (excluded from the group) by themselves and missing out on what was going on with the party.
--Denise provided extras throughout the day for each guest. Regardless of treatments, all of the guest got head and neck massages and foot soaks which were additions to the treatments everyone had paid for. What spa does this as a surprise? Wonderful...Just wonderful.
--Denise goes above and beyond to make the day special. I loved my birthday because of Denise and the guests/company I kept that day.
Cons:
It is hard to come up with a con, but before you go, you should know that the spa is in the downstairs/basement of her house. If you are looking for a lavish spa with a water fall in the lobby, this is not the place. At Hall of Faces, Denise's treatments and her kindness create the Zen in a very intimate setting -

If you truly want to see a difference in your skin then I highly suggest you make an appointment with Denise at Hall Of Faces. The minute you walk in to the comfy studio you know your in for a real treat! Denise is very knowledgeable about skincare and what will work best for you to achieve the skin you'd always wished you'd had. I've had 4 microdermabrasion & oxygen facial treatments and have been using the Hall of Faces products, I couldn't be more happy with the results, thus far. No more skin envy for me. Thanks Denise, you are truly a miracle worker!! :=) -

My friend and I found this place through a BuyWthMe Deal. We felt jipped. The room was cold, we did not ask for a "couples" session yet we were put in the same room THE ONLY ROOM. The body wrap was a joke, they didn't even fully wrap me and they used those silver survival blankets to 'keep us warm" but the constant crinkling sound was loud and not relaxing. My facial was basically cleanser, clarisonic, and moisturizer, which I could have done myself at home. Massage wasn't good either. Very disappointing and not worth the so called deal.

Denise Hall is a very talented, knowledgeable aesthetician, plus she is a warm, lovely person. Hall of Faces operates out of an eceletic, ground floor area which fronts a relaxing garden. I came on a "deal" , unsure of what to expect, and ended up enjoying two hours of indulgent treatment by Denise. She really cares about her customers and making sure you are satisfied. I was!! She worked on all those gnarly areas I can't see or reach, both in her facial treatment and heavenly massage. She made recommendations for at-home treatments I could do on my own. I think Denise is an intuitive, skilled practioner and I definitely benefitted from this appointment. My face felt so clean and radiant afterwards. I highly recommend her services. I am definitely going to her again.

I've been seeing Denise for facials for over 5 years. At this point, I won't let anyone else *touch* my skin. She is so knowledgeable about treatments and products, and will personalize each facial according to what you need at the time. I love her studio - it feels so luxurious to be the only client. Have I mentioned her magical hands? Her massages are the best! I leave her completely blissed out, as well as looking great.
Denise is also just the loveliest, warmest, most charming person. You will be in great hands no matter what your skin needs. Don't hesitate to make an appointment. -

I have had acne for years and have been fighting with it endlessly. I saw 3 different dermatologists and tried numerous medications. NOTHING WORKED. Finally, when my acne had subsided, i went to see Denise to see what else i can do to get it out of my life. She recommended microdermibrasion (which my dermatologist said was "pointless, unless you just want shiny skin for a day"). I have not yet completed her full treatment, but i can already see my skin changing. It is softer, smoother, and free from most of my scars! After i see her, my acne clears up, and my skin looks great for weeks. I even wear less foundation now, or, dare i say, wear none at all!
Aside from the actual treatment, Denise is probably the most pleasant person i know. She will always ask me about what is going on in my life, always recommend the best products (and tell me which ones dont work) and will joke around to make it all fun and easy going. Her massages are relaxing and i always get upset with her when she tells me that its over - i dont wanna get out of that bed!

I have been seeing Denise for several years now, and she is the absolute best person in skincare. Period!!!!!! She is so knowledgeable in what she is doing, takes pride in her work, and will give you the absolute best advise and care for your skin. Denise is never rushed, taking her time thoughout your service, pampering all the while. Folks who know me know that I am not a facial kinda guy. But hell, my wife who goes there and loves it got me a gift certificate. So I tried it and must say that I enjoyed it. Very relaxing, face felt all tingly, Denise is very nice and fun.
