I was here last week.
If you have the means to splurge on some delicious cocktails and delicious food, Hakkasan is the place to go.
I recommend going here for some after work drinks and appetizers.
It's got a really sexy, modern and swanky decor decor to it. The bartenders (or mixologists I should probably call them) are really friendly, professional, helpful and they put an unbelievable amount of time and effort into preparing any cocktail that you order. It's crazy the amount of preparation they put into it. As soon as you taste it though, you can appreciate the lengths they go to. No matter which drink you choose you can't go wrong.
The bartender was even nice enough to bring us complimentary samples of the various Dim Sum the chef was preparing. -

So; I am bit disappointed, not with the food or with the service. I just heard this place is closing. ( could I be wrong). HMMMM. Anyways, I went in to have my usual Chilean seabass and my jazmine rice, along with my crispy duck salad. (which btw was on the Dine LA menu, happening this week). And happens to be my favorite dishes from Hakkasan.
I was greeted by the beautiful restaurant manager Ms Irina and I chose to sit at the bar with the amazing bartender Julie. (The usual Julie, The Hakka drink please)
Just want to say that I am going to miss this spot, I mean the staff was awesome to me as always. I just wish this spot would remain open.
The ambience, music selection and of course food (on point). My fav spot to go to,. Now where do I go to have a modern, hip, and young nightlife vibe in Beverly Hills.
Only if there was a way to keep this spot alive in Beverly HIlls.Let me start off by saying, I was really impressed.. As I entered inside Hakkasan I was greeted by a beautiful host named Sarah, she was quite inviting. As I like to get know people and introduce myself, just to get that one on feeling.
I didn't have a reservation, but it would be best to call ahead for one. I went ahead and sat myself at the bar with one of my good friends. I had another beautiful bartender by the name of Julie that came to greet us and of course I introduce myself and my friend (let me tell you, now she makes the night). Her suggestion of a drink specialty called "The Hakka" was so good and on point with the taste.. It was a little sweet, refreshing, and of course presented so elegantly (Contains - Belvedere vodka,Tozai junmai sake, Coconut and passion fruit and Lychee juice.. Excellent suggestion. (By far my favorite drink). Did I mention doesn't hurt to have a shot of patron anejo.
Since it was my first time ever eating at Hakkasan and I have heard so much great things about this restaurant, I was going to order what other people suggested to me, but I took a step back and I talked to my friend and we decided that our bartender Julie would make the recommendations.
Alright, so what we were suggested/ordered was the following:
Sesame prawn toast (3 prawns coated with sesame and with an excellent sweet sauce)
Grilled Seabass with Chinese honey-(this fish was cooked to perfection, the knife fell right through, cutting ever so graciously, the taste (oh wow) just so flavorful from the Chinese honey cooked on the outside .. This particular dish was my favorite, can't wait to have this again)
Jasmine tea smoked chicken- now this was soft, tender and just moist.
The suggestions by Julie, was just on point, where we ate all 3 plates, and it was enough to share (bonus). Let's just say I usually send something back because I usually notice something with the taste or if the dish didn't do it for me. But not this day I went.
I suggest, in any restaurant, if you are not sure what to order, by any means get a suggestion from your bartender, server, manager or even the host.. I'm glad I did because it was by far the best experience I have had a restaurant.
Throughout the night and which I was really impressed by, was the fact that a manager by the name of Irina, who was just so nice, warm and her smile was just so inviting, the fact that she was checking on us to see how our night was going, asking if the food came out, how our drinks were, and overall just taking care of us, was just pleasant to have (as a restaurant should.)
Now of course I introduce myself to her and I let her know, I had the bartender Julie suggest our dinner for the evening, and I was really impressed with the timely manner the food came out and the fact the food tasted so good.
As the night progress we got our bill (wouldn't you like to know). Well that won't happen, the environment, food, and hospitality is priceless. Whatever my bill was, was worth every bit of it.
Would I come back? Umm but of course, I already booked a reservation coming up soon.. I highly recommend this restaurant and also check out the dishes that were chosen for me..
Excellent Job Hakkasan, Thanks again: Sarah, Julie and of course Irina. The night couldn't have gone any better.. I will return, I know I will get the same service again. Until next time Read more -

Founded in London, the Hakkasan chain can be found in some of the largest cities throughout the world. The Beverly Hills location opened a couple years ago in the heart of 90210 and serves ultra high-end Chinese fusion in a trendy and classy lounge setting.
We showed up on a Thursday for dinner around 6:30pm and the bar area was already packed. The dining area is cut up into sections with high walls creating a maze-like interior. Even though we were seated right next to the bar, the walls killed the sound of the other areas around us. Finally, a nightlife dinner spot that's able to control the sound!
The menu is filled with Chinese favorites including plenty of chicken, seafood, noodles, rice, and veggies. There's also a small plates section with lots of sharable options. Rather than doing the boring app, main, dessert routine we ate tapas style sharing everything we got. First out came the stir-fry mushroom lettuce wrap (with pistachio and pine nuts). The lettuce was fresh and the stir-fry was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crisp. After that came the Hakka steamed dim sum platter (scallop shumai, har gau, Chinese chive dumpling, and black crab dumpling). These bite size rolls were amazing with strong flavors, each different from the next!
A couple larger dishes we still shared were the delicious crispy duck salad (with pomegranate, pine nut, and shallots) and the grilled seabass (with Chinese honey). The duck was great and the huge brick of seabass was nice and flaky. The steamed California sea prawns (with chili and vermicelli) came out next along with the truffle braised egg noodles (with enoki mushroom) and the sides of pak choi and steamed rice. It was so much food it barely fit on our table but when shared amongst all of us it was the perfect amount while letting us sample most of the menu.
After we finished all of that, dessert was next with the berry and chocolate gelato, macaroons, and berry and mango sorbet. The perfect spheres of gelato and sorbet were all rich and were served so ice cold that we were able to finish them before they became puddles in the bowl.
Hakkasan fits in perfectly with its posh neighbors on Beverly Drive and offers some great people watching as well! Be sure to check out their huge cocktail menu and take a walk to the glow-in-the-dark bar before you leave!-

I am a fan!
Asian inspired restaurants with the best drinks ever!
It better be, as each cocktail was a easy $18 or so. My friend though was not to fond of the drink that she would described to taste like children's toothpaste, but how do you mask the nasty gasoline taste of Baiju ?! Regardless it was a good try in my books!
We had pretty much ordered everything on the menu, but the stand outs are def. The Eggplant and Tofu Clay pot! Everyone of us, carnivore or vegetarian all voted it was the perfect Eggplant and tofu they've had in a long time!
Another favorite of mine is the vegetarian Dim Sum dish, made with perfection and tasted even better!
Skip:
On the Vegetarian Chicken, they made it sound so amazing but really you can get that anywhere!
Also skip on the lobster soup, although the portion was fair the taste was just so so.
we also had Macaroons for dessert - even though it looked amazing on a sea of chocolate pieces it was overly sweet and def. could of gone without it !
Overall my experience here was wonderful and def. will be back ! -

Belated dineLA review. Don't bring your Chinese mom here unless she'll appreciate expensive Chinese food in smallish portions. But it's not really a family restaurant anyhow. It's upscale with an extensive selection of cocktails and wine and probably best enjoyed on a date or with friends. Speaking of cocktails...they are definitely pricey here. At $18, I treasured every sip of my SHISO GIMLET and it was heavenly.
A group of us came here for dineLA, but when we noticed they also had some prix fixe menus that were less than the $50 dineLA menu we did some mixing. Between the six of us we ordered twice off of the dineLA menu and twice off of the $38 Taste of Hakkasan menu and added a couple of other dishes we really wanted to try. Overall, the food was good to excellent.
From the Small Eat section:
* JASMINE TEA SMOKED PORK SHORT RIBS - One of our a la carte additions and my favorite item of the night. Succulent and so flavorful!
* HAKKA STEAMED DIM SUM PLATTER (har gaw, scallop shu mai, Chinese chive dumpling and black pepper duck dumpling) - Fancy dim sum, but I gotta admit they were good. Only one piece of each.
* CRISPY DUCK SALAD - Yep everyone's right.
* SESAME PRAWN TOAST - It's not toast! And I'd skip this in favor of any of the above.
From the Mains section on the dineLA and Taste of Hakkasan menus:
* STIR-FRY BLACK PEPPER BEEF RIB EYE WITH MERLOT - Yummy, bite-sized chunks.
* ROASTED CHILEAN SEABASS WITH CHINESE HONEY - No fish head, but it is perfectly cooked.
* SANPEI CORN FED CHICKEN CLAYPOT - More tender meat.
* SPICY PRAWN - Nothing wrong with this, but I'd pick any of the mains above first.
All of the main dishes came with bok choy and rice (jasmine or brown) so we had more to get us full, plus we added an order of HAKKA NOODLE. Good but not necessary. Desserts are made in-house. We had the MACARONS, ICE CREAM AND SORBET from our prix fixe menus. I don't remember the flavors of the macarons, but we had blueberry and ginger caramel ice cream and mango and tropical sorbet. Thumbs up on all the desserts.
The only downer to our evening was the service which got a bit weird at the end. First we were asked to wrap up so they could seat another party. That's understandable but when we noticed that one of our bottles of wine in the bucket off to the side wasn't quite empty we inquired about this. That wine was not cheap and since the staff were pouring it for us they had the responsibility to finish pouring it. Instead of apologizing, the female staffer we spoke with was abrupt with us and that was our last impression. -

Great food and great service - the truffle duck is a must have. Thoroughly enjoyed the recommendation provided by the sommelier - their staff is clearly knowledgeable and professional.
I have also been to the location in New York and would state that the service and courtesy provided by the BH establishment far exceeds the one in NY. -

Really enjoyed my meal here. Although not every single one of the dishes were truly authentic, they were tasty. Some of the items though were super authentic that I was quite surprised. For instance, the lily bulb, preserved olives in the green beans, and the incredible "wui fan" -- braised rice dish -- truly blew my mind. It was as good as the ones I've had in Hong Kong. Really impressive.
The restaurant is chic and modern, resembling a traditional tea house, but definitely has a clubby vibe to it even though it isn't a club.
There is valet parking which really helps on this street where parking is scarce.
Really good service as well. -

Two Words: Hyped Up?
The decor of Hakkasan is impeccable! I was so impressed by it. However, we did not like our food or service. We ordered the crispy duck salad for appetizer and our greens were somewhat limp, and did not seem fresh. We would have ordered more appetizers, but were disappointed by our salad. I ordered the grilled seabass, stir fry french bean. and hakka noodle. The seabass and the noodles were both overcooked. I actually enjoyed the stir fry french bean. I decided to not speak to our server about this, because by that time...we just wanted to leave. Our server seemed to have come by our table every few minutes. My friend noticed it first, and then I realized her frequency. She kept trying to make us order more foods by suggesting other food items.
I am not sure if I will come again, but if I do ...maybe it'll be to visit their bar. -

The sis loves this place... she's been in London, NY, LV, SF and it's just fitting to finally check off the Beverly Hills location and yours truly is just happy to be tagging along!
We went here to celebrate a successful trip: I found my apartment! Yup, the reality of me moving down south actually came when I was drinking my lychee martini (that sadly, did not taste anything like a lychee martini that the Four Seasons are oh so good at making!)
Anyway, our server (again forgot his name) was courteous and friendly and very ninja like (well, it was dark and loud so he would just come of nowhere and would definitely startle me!)
The sis ordered for the both of us since this is her thing... so here goes our food:
* Wok-fried lobster in XO sauce = wow... superbly done! Tons of lobster meat and just the perfect seasoning.
* Black truffle roasted duck = the sis LOVED this but I didn't b/c I don't like duck in general. It still tasted very gamey for me... but if you're into duck and truffle, this is for you!
* Egg and scallion fried rice = sis loved this too but it tasted like regular fried rice to me...
* Roasted silver cod = OMG... this was delicious!!! Probably the best dish I've had that night and the best fish dish I've had, like ever. The fish was so tender and tasty and it just melted in my mouth. LOVED IT!!!
* baby bak choi with oyster sauce = typical tasting :)
* Coconut panna cotta = for you Hawaiians... it's HAUPIA. Yup, just a fancy looking one! :)
* Macaroons = we had to take this home... we were that full.
Overall... I was a fan of the Hanway Place... still have to visit the SF... but the food here was good... although it was loud... but not too dark... we were still able to see our food at the end of the day.
Top notch service... awesome food... and I don't know what the bill came out to be, but major shout out to my sis... thank you for this awesome celebratory dinner!
PS: reservations highly recommended!!!

So I've visited this Hakkasan twice. Both times because I wanted a quick cocktail and because it is conveniently located opposite my hotel of choice: The Montage.
I have nothing but good to say about this place and the second visit really knocked my socks off. For one, the bartender remembered me 5 months after my first visit here. Second because their happy hour is awesome! It's basically 50% off select cocktails and a complimentary dim sum platter to tip it off!
My two favorite drinks here are:
1) The Hakka which is lychee based
2) The tropical dynasty which is actually more minty than it sounds.
As for the dim sum I love it. More on it later since I had my first dinner at Hakkasan at another location ie San Francisco!!-

Being brought up by my dad in Hong Kong who frequents 5, 6 stars hotel for his F&B needs, I have developed a very narrow vision of how an expensive dinner is served.
We received the Dim Sum Platter, housed inside are: Har Gao. Bean Sprout Gao and Duck Gao. I even consumed them in that particular order, from simple single taste of shrimp then into the heavier duck. I am really blown by the shrimps inside, besides the expected: fresh & huge; the taste of the shimp is so unfamiliar, unseen but inviting. The wrapping has its approrpiate thickness, not timid but not too bold.
The bean Sprout Veggie Gao, (the green one). Once you bite into it, the fresh scent of mountain burst into your mouth. The duck is the star of all. The red Queen of the Platter.
Then came this Seared Cod, two big pieces resting on Bok Choi. The theme color is red. The fish flakes out piece by piece, comes with it is the special sweet sause. The texture very similar to hairy leg crab, very sumptious. The skin was torched but tastes like charcoaled. Very original but they way it's been prepared add a stone age flair to it. Lots of callagen adhere to the inside skin, ladies! Get this!!!
I never never seen flakes of truffle the size of whole finger nails springle all over a dish at a restaurant. The trufled Roast Duck relatively inexpensive but it is truly infused with the taste of truffle. The skin is paperthin and very very crispy. This plate has lots of duck pieces for us to take home. No extra fat, very lean and lady like since they debone it and only the best looking pieces are placed on the plate. (Hey, its not like your $29 roast duck from Samwoo in a styrofoam box) Ladies, you can wear solid deep red lipsticks to bite into this and still look sexy.
There is alot of potentials male in this room, so dress to impress. Music is good but not over power, definitely its your choice if you want to lean closer to the guy next to you or speak easy at an arm's length.
I am the one who made reservation, but I never mentioned its my birthday. Our lady server seated us down and greeted me happy birthay. So funny. Then we receive a macaroon birthday plate. lol I am so happy. -

HAKKA STEAMED DIM SUM PLATTER
Scallop shumai, har gau, Chinese chive dumpling and black crab dumpling were OK at best. Wasn't sold on the scallop shumai, but OK. Not terrible either.
RATING: 3/5
CRISPY DUCK SALAD
With pomegranate, pine nut and shallot was a bit greasy and fatty. But the meat was tender and the overall flavor was again OK.
RATING: 3/5
GRILLED SEABASS WITH CHINESE HONEY
I thought it was OK and I don't care for the honey-taste. I would prefer it with a soy-sauce base.
RATING: 3/5
STIR FRY CHINESE MUSHROOM
Strangely enough, this dish, with yam bean, sugar snap peas and macadamia nuts was my favorite. Flavorful and fresh.
RATING: 4/5
HAKKA NOODLE
With mushrooms and Chinese chive was rather bland. Not a fan.
RATING: 2.5/5
SPICY WILD PRAWN CURRY
With lily bulb and almond flakes was also OK. The sauce was fairly decent, but the shrimp not so much, a bit chewy.
RATING: 3/5
SANPEI CORN FED CHICKEN CLAYPOT
With spring onion, dried chilli and Thai sweet basil was very creative. Chicken chunks inside a claypot, but the flavors did not taste like it was truly immersed into the dish.
RATING: 3/5
STIR-FRIED BLACK PEPPER BEEF
With merlot was my favorite meat dish here. Tender and flavorful. But not exactly Cantonese. :/

Michelin star Chinese eh? Not something I've ever had the pleasure of trying - so although we couldn't get into one of my favorite restaurants of all time (those gnocchi are seriously life changing at Gordon Ramsay's) I was looking forward to having gourmet Chinese food.
Now I understand what people mean when they say this place is kinda club-like. It's different from the traditional higher end restaurants and not in a way that I'm sure if I loved - I think my bf and I were both expecting it to be a little more intimate. Although once you're inside, you don't notice it as much - although there's weird dance music constantly playing - and I hate incense - and they have some burning in the restaurant in the back by the bathrooms. Not overpowering but something I noticed as soon as we came in - but quickly became nose-blind to.
The inside is pretty and has lots of different wooden carved patterns strewn about in a maze like way. It's nice though and the mish-mash of traditional and modern works very well in this space!
Now for the food:
Dim Sum - pretty good. I don't think they were quite as good as Din Tai Fung (and we both agreed that we needed to get back to that place post haste), but they were definitely solidly good. My favorite surprisingly (or maybe not actually) was the Thai inspired one! So good! There was only one that I was kinda meh on - just because it was a little too fishy for my taste - although it was still fresh tasting and good!
Mushroom Lettuce Wraps - Delicious! I love lettuce wraps as much as the next person! And these were definitely kicked ip a notch over your typical takeout places! I loved the addition of pine nuts and those mushrooms were sautéed beautifully! Yum!
Black Pepper Beef - Yum! I was so tempted to get this dish as I LOVE black pepper chicken! I only took a small portion off Pump's plate but it was delicious! That beef melted in your mouth! Amazing! Such good quality beef! The flavors of a traditional black pepper Chinese dish were all there and it maybe could have been a touch more peppery but that's just me being picky! It was a great dish!
Corn-fed Chicken Clay Pot - This was my personal dish! The presentation was cute in it's clay pot! But the chicken was so good! The chicken was fatty without being fatty, if that makes sense! Of course it doesn't! But if you tasted it you'd know what I mean! The chicken was so rich and tender and just perfect! The sauce itself was flavorful and good!
Macarons - Yum! It's a random selection of 2. I had the lime - which was delicious with a chocolate ganache. The Chocolate Cherry was just okay. Tasted just like one of those cordial cherries - which are just not my cup of tea. But they were baked perfectly! (Not like my sad macarons hahaha)
Sorbets - I was actually surprised that these were quite yummy! Simple but with bold flavors. Yum!
Overall, I loved this place! I loved that the traditional dishes were really kicked up a notch with super high quality meats and ingredients that seriously just melted in your mouth! Yum!-

I give it a 3.5
Ambience and decor is very hip and trendy. Reminiscent of a lounge/club feel.
Hostesses are beautiful girls.
The bar area and the front of the restaurant is illuminated with a blue light. Ultra cool!
The food however, was a little above average. It should be EXCELLENT for what they are charging but hey I might be a little biased because I was never that fond of Cantonese food. Came here for my girlfriends birthday for dine la week. Even with it being "dine la" the bill came out to over 200 for a group of three.
For appetizer, we had the
Golden crispy duck roll- flavor was good but the meat was very dry
Dim Sum Platter-an array of different kind of unique dumplings such as the scallop shumai and black crab dumpling, Super good
Mushroom lettuce wrap- it was ok, Good thing about this dish is that it is very light
For entrees, we had the
Seabass- It was moist but the flavor and seasoning of the fish overpowered the delicate meat
Corn Fed Chicken- The flavoring and seasoning of the chicken was EXACTLY the same as the seabass which is not good if you guys are sharing all the dishes. You want there to be some difference of flavors
Spicy Curry Prawns- I feel Tricked! the title is misleading. The Prawns were not spicy at alll!!!! They need to take out the word "spicy".
They redeemed themselves with the drinks though. LOVED THEIR COCKTAILS! I got a zesty martini which includes sea salt, cilantro, pineapple. So many unique and different type of cocktails. -

This place is so trendy and fun--I love it. We came here with a group of 8 for a brithday celebration and they did a great job of dealing with all of our requests and orders.
We started off with cocktails-we all got The Haka which was amazing. It tasted like coconut water. it had lychee, pineapple, tasted very tropical and was fabulous. It was a little pricey at $17 a pop.
I can really only talk about the veggie food but I will tell you that the other stuff everyone else got looked amazing and also got good reviews.
PEKING DUCK: looked very good. they served it two ways--one with caviar and bread and the other in this very savory sauce.
LOTUS ROOT: amazing! How have I never tried this before??
SHANGHAI dumplings: veggie ones and non veggie. Has soup in the middle--so good.
VEGGIE DUMPLINGS: not too bad, tasted mediocre though and nothing special
EGG NOODLES with black truffle: Again, this was just OK
DIM SUM: veggie and non veggie--tasted very fresh and had a lot of variety. My favorite was the bean curd dumpling
Someone also got a pork and beef dish which got good reviews. There are plenty of veggie options here for vegetarians which was surprising. The service was excellent and all the staff is so good looking!
We all had a great time and I would definitely come back. They have a special 5 course thing between 5:30-6:30pm for a minimum of 2 ppl which is $38 each person. -

This is egregiously overpriced Chinese food. But, I kinda like it.
The dishes are the types that you would expect from your run of the mill Chinese restaurant. They spice it up a bit by using quality ingredients such as in the shu-mai, instead of shrimp, they use scallops. Their fish is good quality Chilean sea bass. They add truffles to their dishes.
That being said, a good chunk of the items are very good. Both sea bass dishes are good, the shrimp dishes are good and the dim sum platter is good. The duck rolls and shanghai dumplings though, pass on those. Pass on the lobster as well, you can get by far better from other places for much less. The dessert, particularly the Kir Royal is pretty good. Their macaroons, I'm not sure, but I prefer Bouchon's more.
Unlike a traditional Chinese restaurant, it's clean and has a trendy, fun vibe. This is not like the Hakkasan in Vegas, thankfully. That being said, it's slowly becoming on of my go to spots for dinner... -

4.5 stars!
Out of all the trendy spots in BH, Hakkasan is by far the best experience I had so far including the quality of food!
Before making reservations, I browsed the menu and realized it was Cantonese cuisine which I feel I can get anywhere for affordable prices. However, I heard the chef here has a Michelin star so I knew I had to try it.
Parking: Across the street $5 flat rate after 4pm.
We arrived at 8:45pm and were seated right away. The ambiance is very trendy. I was probably the youngest in the room I felt like and it was somewhat sophisticated! Music went with the ambiance and it was not too loud, which was good! You wanna be able to hear each other. FYI: Don't come here underdress with a regular shirt and jeans!
We first ordered our cocktails, I told our waiter Michelle that I wanted something not too sweet and she recommended the Green Destiny (contains cucumber, mint, apple, kiwi), which was perfect! It was light and hit the spot. I forgot what my friend got but he said it was perfect proportion of alcohol & coke.
Crispy duck salad 5/5: SO GOOD please order this. Duck was cooked to perfection and the vegetables that accommodated it went so well with the dish.
Dim sum 5/5: best dim sum ever! They had 2 unique flavors & 2 traditional ones.
Sea bass 5/5: melt-in-your-mouth good! Fried mushrooms that came with it was a great addition.
Peppered beef 4.5/5: this dish was also great! The only complaint I have is the tenderness; I thought it could've been a tad bit more tender for the quality we were receiving so far. Other than that, very good!
Macarons 4/5: quality is as good as any great French bakery/dessert shop.
Service 5/5: exceptional service! Checked in at the right time and provided new utensils when needed. Water was always filled.
This place is very pricey and portions are smaller than usual; however, quality of food and service was phenomenal and well worth it. My friend & I were full enough with no leftover; however, if you have a big appetite, you would probably wanna eat before eating here! -

Prices are on the higher side but not shocking given it's Beverly Hills and everything is top-notch from the ingredients to the presentation, to the atmosphere.
They also expanded slightly; there is now a bigger lounge area by the bar for more room to bring your colleagues and friends after work or for a pre-dinner gathering.
DJ was playing just the right music at just the right octave- you could still have a conversation but felt surrounded by good beats. The excellent sound system doesn't surprise me, given their expertise in clubs and nightlife. The lighting was amazing too.
Overall, a great experience. Will be back. -

I was pretty excited to try this place out because I have heard great things about it from friends. I guess I'll go ahead and give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to service. I feel like either the waitress was having an off night or she's just kind of a nut job in general. Who knows. The waitresses also don't really work well with the busboys. It's really messy and the communication between the two is awkward. At one point during service, the waitress ended up getting salad in my cup of water, which wasn't cool because we had to pay for every bottle they served us and she just dumped it out and charged us for a new bottle.
What we ordered:
Hakka Steamed Dim Sum Platter - I don't understand what the hype is all about other than it being the prettiest looking dim sum I've ever had. Taste? Not so pretty. This platter was very blah for me.
Crispy Duck Salad - By far one of the best dishes of the night! They don't skimp on the duck and everything just worked so well together. Texture was on point!
Sanpei Chicken Claypot with Sweet Thai Basil - Good, but not memorable.
Peking Duck without Caviar - Presentation was great and so was the taste (thank goodness considering it's over $100 for the two course). Perfect crisp of the skin and soft melt-in-your-mouth duck meat! Yummmmmm. A must try! We requested Hoison sauce though this dish isn't served with it here. It would've tasted too plain otherwise.
Second Course (Peking Duck Stir-Fry with Black Bean Sauce) - A different preparation that was good, but not outstandingly so.
Pipa Duck - Great dish to try. The sauce complemented the duck without overpowering it. The skin was nice and crispy.
Stir-Fry Black Pepper Beef Ribeye with Merlot - This dish was good, but the pepper was a little overwhelming at times.
Baby Pok Choi with Garlic - Prepared well, but then again, it's sauteed in garlic...can't really mess that up. Nothing special.
Hakka Noodle - Definitely nothing special for the price and portion size.
Egg and Scallion Fried Rice - A little too dry for my taste. My grandma made better at home.
I ordered a Kowloon Cooler to drink because I didn't want an alcoholic beverage. It was refreshing and worth a try. Their desserts look really pretty and have great presentation, but I wish that that kind of attention was also taken into account for the execution of the taste. Overall, desserts are mediocre. I've had better elsewhere where the elegance and interactive presentation of the dessert also went hand in hand with the taste.
