LOVED BEATRICE...
Needed a cut and color... stat, since i was about to go on vacation for a week. I love that they are open 7 days a week and LATE on Fridays and Saturdays!
I was stressing from two weeks of face punching work and was late for my appointment, but since I was the last appt and Beatrice didnt have another engagement they were able to see me an hour and a half later.
She's the Davines educator for LA and she's awesome! Loved my cut and color (just took care of the roots), she complimented my color (that my girl, TAMMY at The Color Boutique, Newport rocked for me - just couldn't make it to OC from BH)
Got a lot of compliments... thanks Beatrice for being such a sweetheart! Dropped $250 (bought product) but worth it!!
Wow. This is unlike any salon I've been to in LA...when you first walk in, you're welcomed by a great vibe, awesome music, smiling faces, and a variety of beverages (including libations!!). The staff is pretty much amazing...down to earth...and really good at assessing and listening to what YOU are looking for, not just what they think might look great on you.
If you're looking for a not-so-LA salon, Hairroin has a radical and approachable edge everyone loves.
Do ittttt.
While I usually just get a cut (by Janine the owner....who is AWESOME) last trip I went in for an old school straight razor shave and a skin treatment from Luis Payne. I have very sensative skin and usually use an electric razor, but last time I was in Hairroin I saw Luis giving a straight razor shave and thought I would give it a try.
What I got was much more than I expected. I got the smoothest shave I have ever had, and had not one razor bump or cut. Which I have not been able to achieve shaving myself with a razor. I will plan to get one at least once a month. Thanks Luis.

So this is my first negative review and I hate talking bad about people/places, but I had a bad experience here so I feel I must share it.
First off I have long healthy hair that is dark brown on top and white blond on the bottom. I have had it this way for four and a half years now and have been going to the same stylist for almost 4 years. Last December I was due to have my roots touched up and the brown darkened. My normal hairstylist was out of town so I began the search to see who could color it before i left for 2 weeks to go back east.
I got on Yelp and started reading all the reviews of ALL the hair salons. I also asked around to all my friends to see who they recommended. My friend suggested Hairroin. She said it was a really edgy place with a cool vibe and great stylists. So I read every single one of the reviews and they were almost all great! I read about a stylist named Dalina who colored amazingly and made her blonds a white blond. She had gotten many good reviews so I decided to go with her.
I loved the place when I walked in. Im covered in tattoos so I felt right at home here. The decor is hip and edgy and the vibe is great. Dalina sat me down and she was super cute and friendly. I explained to her what I wanted done. The roots were to be touched up and the brown was to be a shade or two darker. I told her that my stylist didnt use toner and showed her the easiest way to color both parts without getting any bleeding.
We chatted the whole time and she seemed to be doing a good job. I went over to the sink and her assistants took over from there with Dalina coming over to chck every few minutes. They put toner all over the blond and left it on for a really long time. They washed it out finally after what seemed like forever. After she dried my hair I could see that the blond was really brassy and my scalp was burning. She said if I wanted it blonder she could re try it in a few days. Well I was leaving the next day for over 2 weeks.
Cut to the next month, and everytime I washd my hair I lost tons of it and it felt really really dry almost straw like. My scalp was burnt including my forehead. My hair was a dirty brassy color and I literally lost like a quarter of it. I went back to my old stylist and she has spent the past 10 months getting it healthy again and back to normal. And to that white blond color that I always had before going to Hairroin.
So unfortunately I wont ever be going back here. Maybe this was just a one time mess up and maybe Dalina is really great with other peoples hair. But with mine she was not. And when your are talking about someones hair, its kind of important to not mess it up big time.
Sorry guys, but im giving it 2 stars only. im sure their are some talented stylists there, but I wont be coming back. :/
I was visiting a friend at USC from Maryland and desperately needed a haircut. She learned that on Sundays Hairroin does buy 1 haircut get one free so we decided to go. I'm very picky about my hair and do not enjoy cutting it or experimenting much with my hair. However, it was well overdue.
We were able to get appointments for Sunday and I was paired up with Viv. She gave me exactly what I was looking for. She was able to keep my length with giving me some style to my face. She spent a lot of time with me during the consultation to make sure I got exactly what I wanted and after the cut she gave me advice on styling at home and how to use certain products. I am so pleased with my haircut and the professionalism at Hairroin. I only wish I didn't live in Maryland so I could go back when needed, but next time I'm in Cali I will be stopping at Hairroin for a Haircut. Highly Recommended especially coming from someone who is so peculiar and picky about their hair.
We were able to get an eighty dollar haircut for forty, but I would have paid well over eighty for my haircut. Quite a steal!
THIS. IS. MY. JOINT. you have to understand that my "thing" is hair. im all about the hair. my love affair with Hairroin started one day while i was wandering the streets of Hollywood. The boy works in the area and i was waiting for him to have lunch at Cafe24 (another review, another day). One look at the Hairroin logo and i was addicted. A skull with big hair and a bow? are you kidding me? thats me in a nutshell.
Anyways, i made an appointment soon after seeing the YELP reviews and determined that Beatrice was my drug of choice. She specializes in color and thats exactly what i wanted. Loud, obnoxious, rich color. My oh My, 2 hours after stepping into the salon with boring (but BIG) black hair, i stepped out with and gorgeous shade of electric purple on top with hot pink extensions coming out all over the ends. i was in love.
There is not one day that passes by that i dont get complimented on my hair. its big its crazy, i love it and its all mine. go get your own hairroin fix.
I am clearly not alone in my love for Hairroin Salon. Based on the 49 reviews before mine--most of which are 5 star--I realize that my salon is not the 'hidden' gem I may have pretended to myself it was. Though its puntastic name makes me cringe a wee bit inside every time I say it aloud, it hasn't stopped me from recommending it to multiple girlfriends, all of whom have returned themselves and passed the good word on to their own friends.
I see one of the senior stylists at Hairroin, Marcy. Marcy is expensive, but her experience, skill and great results are worth the money. Which is a totally valid excuse for transferring money from my savings this past week in order to touch up my color...right?
Tip No. 1: Not all days are made equally. On Friday night, Hairroin offers blowouts and bubbly for $25. On Saturday, don't miss the muffin and scone spread while you're waiting. Mmmm. (And every day of the week, the mini fridge is stocked with diet coke (they know me so well!) and other complimentary bevs.)
Tip No. 2: No one likes to see a girl with foils in her hair and a robe on running to her parking meter. If you're splurging for the hair cut, you may as well skip the quarters. There's a lot on Selma for $5.
I have followed Irene from Palm Springs to the beach to Hollywood - no I am not an ex/ stalker :) I am her friend and biggest fan. Ire is the best of the best at Hairroin Salon and has the resume to prove it.
Ire is loved by her clients and her coworkers at Hairroin and there is a reason why: she is super cool and will be your therapist/friend/confident/confidence whilst you are in her chair.
In addition they have a party on Friday nights complete with DJ and a buzzing salon.
Amazing Salon. I have been going here for years now and cant say enough great things about the styling techniques of Janine and Dalina... two of the most talented hair stylists in the business. I highly recommend this salon to everyone, it will be a great experience.
Are you getting your hair cut somewhere not here?
Then you my friend need to see the light. Especially if you have wild curly hair. That's right. You can pretty much follow my hair horror stories through the years on Yelp. I think my long journey is over, and I have found my OTS. That's One True Stylist.
Monique is a chill and laid back beauty with gorgeous Technicolor hair that I immediately coveted. Now let me tell you something. My hair is naturally curly. Like Noemie Lenoir curly. I swear it is actually just a separate entity living on my head. Don't tell anyone, but I think it eats people at night.
Moving on. I thought that by going to Harroin not only would I be out major bucks, but they may pull a Vidal Sasson on me. I was not up for looking like an Afro-ed Q-tip. That's just not ON.
But I took a chance.
And HOLY HELL.
Dry, frizzy, everywhere curls became flat ironed, sleek and bouncy with just a touch of Monique's fantastic hands. I love her so much I'm going back in two weeks to get a deep conditioning treatment. And maybe even buy some product for the first time. And I'm considering going back for the Friday $25 dollar hair special next week.
What the hell, it's my birthday and I know the girls at Hairroin will do me right! Who's addicted? I am.
I got a reccommendation to see Marcy at Hairroin when I moved down to LA from SF. I drove from UCLA to Hairroin just to try it out, and I'm SO glad I did.
Marcy is a wonderful colorist. While the salon is punky and avant-guard, she can do great natural color-I've gone to blonde and back to chocolate with her. Her highlighting weaves (I think this is what they are called) are so meticulous and neat. Women I met after going blonde thought I was a natural, and I would only go 4 times a year (cheap lazy college student).
And when going to brunette from a blonde, she came in on her day off (I was going up north and had to have the color right before shocking my family) to take the red out of my hair that mysteriously appeared a couple days after going brown. She had no problem fixin' it.
Marcy's personality is a wonderful combination of spunk and the sweetest friend you ever had. While the prices are high for me, I never feel ripped off.
Plus, she does a wonderful blow dry that will make you feel like a million bucks.
In addition, the salon is a feast for the eyes...words cannot describe. It's a mix of punky, a twist of retro (check out the retro hair tools in the bathroom), sweet and bizarre. And everyone else working there goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed, from the receptionist to Marcy's assistants.
One warning, beware the parking meters outside. They eat quarters and aren't always working.
I love Harroin Hair Salon and Daline is awesome! After reading all the great yelp reviews I knew this place had to be great. I was a bit hesitant when I walked in because it is SO edgy and somewhat punk. I'm pretty conservative and a lawyer so I'm not looking for edge but Daline told me I was in good hands and she was right! I have black hair and every salon has told me its impossible to get the red out or impossible for it to not come out brassy. Daline got it right! My hair is brown, which is exactly what i wanted, she did an awesome job. I will def. go back to her and I recommend Harroin to everyone whether you are edgy or not! HARROIN IS THE BEST! I did spend a lot and even though it was half off i dont know how they came ot the non-half off number when they rung me up but at the end of hte day i paid for a great hair color.
I use to be THAT person. The one who dyed their hair themselves, and went to Super cuts or the place at the mall if they were feeling fancy.
Then I moved to Hollywood, and realized I'd need to find a new hair salon fast.
I was really apprehensive at first about paying so much for a hair cut. But let me say that it was TOTALLY worth it. I've been going there for over a year now. Patrick is not only the sweetest man ever. (and extremely patient 'cause I'm a total chatter-box when I'm getting my hair done) but he's also amazingly talented and gave me an awesome style when I told him how I wanted a retro hair-cut with out resembling the other 100 Bette Page hair styles running around the area.
Yes, it's a lot of money, but I feel so fantastic afterwords, that it's worth the investment every few months.
After having my hair ruined by another salon here in Santa Monica, (It turned out green, the woman tried to "fix" it twice before I just left-- AND, i was just starting principal photography on a movie) -- a friend recommended I try Hairroin. Let me tell you...I will never go anywhere else in LA. I LOVE Irene...she is down to earth, chill, and listens to you. Don't even bother going anywhere else....I'm serious. Hairroin is the BEST in LA
This place rules in such a complete and devastating fashion that if you're even considering going somewhere else to get your hair tweaked, you have lost my sympathy and my admiration.
I'm a DIY kind of guy, and poor, and had been giving my hair the scissors-in-mirror treatment for about 2 years since I'd moved out here. Also, my hair is long, curly, and painfully thick. For these two reasons, my hair was a mess. My girlfriend, professional internet aggregator, sent me to Hairroin.
Marc totally sorted me out. I didn't really have to tell him anything about what I wanted or how my hair rolls, he just took it away and gave me the most bitching haircut I've ever had. On top of that he was a totally sweet dude. I skipped out of there with a sweet mop, some dry shampoo, and a christmas CD for something around $60-$70. What else is there to say? If I ever leave LA, I'm flying back here to get my hair cut at Hairroin.
"My experience" is still dos estrellas... but I'm upping it up to three because the salon contacted me in hopes of giving me a better experience. Since I've already snapped on the plastic gloves and disguised the Hairroin coiffure, I've pretty much taken away their chance to correct the situation.
Not every customer will be a happy customer, so I respect the fact that they are trying to do me right. Thank you, Hairroin.

5 stars everywhere... all over the place when reading their reviews. Maybe I was expecting too… Read more »
I like Hairroin a whole lot. Dalina is wonderful. It's pricy (what LA salon worth its salt isn't??) but absolutely worth it. I've been thrilled with her work every time.
Hairroin is an interesting cultural experience...the clientele is hip to the point of practically cancelling itself out, the decor is funky as hell, but it's not the kind of place you feel like you can roll into in grubbies on a Saturday morning (learned this the hard way...). I never thought I'd feel like I had to plan my outfit to go get my hair done. Not that I DID, but I felt like I needed to.
So why three stars? Well, the last time I went to have my hair done, I decided to get my eyebrows waxed on a whim. I was brought to the back, and as the girl was about to start, she told me that she had just gotten her license in the last couple of weeks...I didn't think anything of it...how hard can an eyebrow wax be? So she rips the thing off and it hurts like a BITCH (moreso than usual) but again, I'm just thinking maybe it's because I hadn't had them done in a while. She gives me a quick glance in the mirror and I peace out. Upon returning home, I looked in the mirror again and found that she had completely ripped off an entire layer of skin under my eyebrow, which I was evidently too out of it to notice before I left. Not pretty folks...not pretty at all. So just watch yourself if you decide to head in for anything other than a cut and color.
If you need a good haircut today then Hairroin is the place to go. Most places cut your hair and then you need a few days for it to grow in a bit. Hairroin gives you a great haircut the moment you walk out the front door. Doug Peyton is my favorite stylist. He listens to you and then walks you through what he thinks would work best. He gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had, and I have crappy fine hair so I've had a lot of bad haircuts.
My only complaint is it is a lil pricey, but you get what you pay for right.
OK folks. I was skeptical that a place that looked that cool and was in the heart of Hollywood would ever be a place that would be the answer to my hair crisis.
I have worked for several salons and spas so I know what to look for and what to run from. I've been growing out my hair and haven't had it touched in months - which worked out since my stylist who rocks HARD has been out of town for months taking care of her ailing mother. I decided to go back to red and my hair still had more black in it than I thought and my roots went super bright and the rest looked not too different. *sigh* So it was a Monday and my other rock star stylist was not working (which is the case with 99% of salons in LA on Monday's) oh but not Hairroin... God bless em.
The bottom line is: their prices are totally competitive, Reyna kicked ASS on getting me back to a sweet allover red with a lot of labor on her part and without thrashing my hair (no small feat) and she shaped my hair up a bit to take some of the suck out of it from 8 months of not touching it. And their hours can NOT be beat!!
I am going to keep this short and sweet: I used to be a beauty writer so I have been to every salon in the book, from LA to NY. Never have I seen a hairdresser as talented as Marcy Harmon. I wrote about her years and years ago for InStyle magazine, when she was working in San Francisco, and was thrilled to discover she had moved to LA. Blah, blah, braggy credentials aside, Marcy is a genius at color and creating babe hair (her haircuts are not haircutty; they always look grown-out--in a good way--immediately). She is fun to talk to and hang out with and she has the world's coolest style (red lipstick, vintage dresses--effortlessly cool). She is the only person who has been able to get me the ashy blond highlights I've wanted forever without damaging my hair one bit. Her prices are totally reasonable for the level of experience she has (she's won a million international hair competitions) and she's quick and easy to be around. All in all, I will die if Marcy leaves LA (I may have to follow her).
PS - The salon is badass too, because it's totally unpretentious and everyone, despite being hot and fashiony, is nonjudgmental and warm.
yaaaaay!!
I am so happy I tried this place. thank you yelpers!
I was having such a shitty 21st birthday. I got sunburned and then had an allergic reaction to the aloe I used.. yeah.. i was just a mess.
but after popping (probably too much heh) benadryl and getting my hair done I felt sooo much better.
Stephanie ROCKS. sweetest nicest hair stylist I've ever met. listened to what I wanted and made suggestions that would fit my face better.
i walked out of there looking and feeling amazing, as one should on their 21st birthday! take that sunburn!
I will definitely be coming back here, and I will definitely be telling everyone i know to go there.
oh.. and the prices.. awssum! I could pay double at some other salon and get nothing more than a snobby attitude and a mediocre cut.
hooray for hairroin!
It seriously doesn't get any better than hairiron! My hair has never looked better! Dalina is beyond amazing....the most gorgeous color (she specializes in blonde) and cut I've ever had. A million times better that any of the other high end salons: the staff is way more talented and the attitude is incredibly laid back. You won't feel like the hairdresser next to you is talking sh&%t about your hair or outfit.
If you are a blonde (or any other color) you MUST go see Dalina! I've never been able to get the perfect white/pale blonde that I've always dreamed of having; other hairdresser even told me it was impossible to get my hair that shade. The FIRST time I saw her she got it PERFECT! I gave her a vague explanation of the cut I've been wanting and again....absolute perfection! I've always heard that the best haircut is one that you can style yourself, is versatile and grows out well; mine is all of those and more! Not to mention she is sweet as pie! The two hours honestly fly by! I used to dread talking to my old hairdresser (I won't mention any names); she was always so catty and judgmental. Dalina is so easy to talk to; so calm, sweet, non-judgmental and accomadating (and full of cool stories). I always feel so comfortable and totally enjoy myself there.
Did I mention how cute it is in there?! Filled with the most amazing antiques, beautiful high ceilings and decorated absolutely adorably! The carry the best products- specifically Davines. I've actually never used it before and Dalina introduced me to it; now I have the entire line, it's seriously amazing! They just picked up Rene Furterer and my collection has now begun.
I can't say enough about this salon! It's the best, hands down! But on that note, I wouldn't bring mom. I don't think she'd appreciate their eccentricities the way they should be appreciated. But on the other hand, I'm 26 and have a two year old who I brought in with me and she loved it! Dalina even braided her hair! She walked around and everyone was so sweet to her. Not one dirty look for bringing a kid in! Everyone actually went out of their way to be nice to her; playing with her hair and telling her she was pretty. She was glowing when we left!
Hairroin is a must! !f you're tired of your "cookie cutter" hair style or just looking for a new stylist, you can't go wrong. Dalina will give you the gorgeous hair you've always wanted!
Just went today. Very excited to finally get my highlights done. I used their offer for 50% off on Wednesday. I had my hair done by Beatrice and LOVE IT. She's a sweetheart and so talented. She did exactly what I wanted. I will be back! If you go there ask to be booked with Beatrice.
I had put off getting a hair cut since moving from NYC to LA for almost 2 months. I even flew back to NYC during that time to, amongst other things, get my hair cut by "my girl" Jasmine...dueto salon...can't go wrong. Let us refocus. Simon sorted me out at Hairroin. I was a bit unnerved at the price...even in NYC I paid less. If you don't want a surprise you have to ask the right questions...junior stylist versus a senior..etc...
Simon was to use a new word i've added to my California venacular, "Hella" good/cool/nice/bad ass. Did a great job on my doo and was fast as shhhhhhhhhhhh...
My girl friend walked in and was so happy with my hair that after a few words with Sara/h...she took the plunge...I'll let her write her own review...but suffice it to say my chica looked...again..."Hella" hot as shhhhhh....g-d bless you sara/h. =)
Finally! After 2 years of living in Los Angeles, I've found my hair salon!
It is a gorgeous salon with super friendly staff. I called on Wednesday and had an appointment for Thursday....WOW! I can't even do that at my old "cheap salon"!
Beatrice is really sweet, and she actually LISTENED to what I wanted!! My hair looked great by the time she was done. I usually only get a hair cut (I can't believe I'm admitting this) once or twice a year, but I was so happy with my experience here that I think I'm actually going to go back in a month or two!! It's a little more pricey than I usually pay, but then again I'm cheap. When it comes to Hollywood salons, I think $80 is not a bad deal for an amazing cut. The only thing that I feel the need to complain about is the parking. It's street parking only, which is AWFUL around there.
I love when I bookmark places and then go and try them out. OK OK I get it thats the point of YELP. But its great when the place turns out to be awesome as well!
Hairroin is one of those places! I woke up day after halloween to the mess that was my hair and quite the hangover. I've been trying to grow out my hair for some months now. It needed some help!
Called on Saturday morning and got an appointment with Simon for a few hours later. The place is awesome and everyone is super relaxed and chill. I got a great cut with Simon and told him my plans for growing out my hair and he gave some good advise. I definitely will be going back for bang trims and help molding my hair until it reaches the desired length. Definitely a loyal fan!
Check em out!
PS--They are a little pricey but not insane
PPS-They have great product too
I hate doing this, I absolutely hate doing this. They are nice there, really nice and I hate slamming nice people. That being said, I feel I must forwarn other curly heads who have ethnic, thick coarse ringlets. DONT DO IT. They set me up with a master stylist, Sarah, who was a delight as a human being. She went on and on about how much she loves doing curly girls hair, explained what she was going to do. What followed was my fault, as soon as she told me her plan to "De-Bulk" I should have bolted, but I was lured into a false sense of calm by her adamant statement of how she knew curly hair. I will now spend the next 3, 4 months? fusting around on a daily basis trying to style my oddly coifed head. Not only is it now a frizz mess that has lost all prior ability to sustain curl, but there are tendril bits at random lengths sticking out. Last night a friend pulled on one thinking it was a loose hair hanging down. I told her nope, that's just my new style. The whole painful thing cost (gulp) one hundy plus tip because, I. am. a. sucker....
One last time, she was a really nice human and I hate slamming her workmanship but god, it feels good to have an forum with which to vent this instead of seething on a daily basis. Okay, given world economic woes I will now try to return to some sort of rational perspective.
To me, the way to tell a good hairstylist from a phenomenal one is not by the haircut so much as by how thoroughly you got what you wanted-- how well the stylist interpreted your words or photos and made them come to life on your head.
Doug at Hairroin is not only gentle, cautious, attentive and totally sweet, he has that gift. What he can do with a blow dryer is shocking- he made my hair sleek and flat without an iron, and it's generally a big frizzy mess- and each time so far I have left surprised to receive so precisely the cut I was seeking.
I walked past Hairroin one night while out on Cahuenga, and their logo made a little imprint on my brain. A few months later, I wanted to get my hair professionally colored, and decided to give them a try.
The first time I went, I got Beatrice. Almost 2 years later, she is the only person allowed to touch my hair. This girl can do no wrong. She's so funny and friendly, and makes the grueling process of getting your hair colored a pleasure. The prices can be a bit steep, but it's worth the money. The cuts grow out beautifully, and they do bang trims for free!
I just signed up for Yelp to write a review about Hairroin. That's how much I love it. Really it's the ONLY place to go in Hollywood. I won't let anyone else touch my hair. The staff are all amazing (you're in good hands with any one of them), the salon itself is gorgeous, and you get sense that these people really enjoy making you feel beautiful. I tend to make my appointments for Friday. Before you judge me for spending Friday nights in a hair salon, you should know that Fridays at Hairroin are Champagne Fridays. Sip some bubbly and listen to their hot dj play all while getting your hair done for your night out. I am completely addicted.
I love this place!!
Talented stylists, creative space, always a good experience!!
Can be pricey, but look:
$25 hair-do's - look your best before a night out on the town! Live DJ's from 7-11 PM and free champagne.
(I see Luis)
I love Hairroin! The staff is very friendly and extremly talented. I recommend my stylist, Vannesa Knight, she is an expert colorist and always manages to allow me to love my hair when I leave. Hours are a bit odd. No Monday or Wednesday evening appointments, but if you are there on Friday night they have a $25 special (wash and style), DJ's and cocktails.
If you are new in town or just sick of your current stylist, stop by Salon Hairroin and give any of the talented staff a chance to become your NEW stylist and NEW salon.
100% Satisfaction.
Went to Hairroin for the first time (while on vacation) and got extensions put in. I already have an enormous amount of hair so you can imagine the amount of time it took to have this done.
For my first experience with them, I am extremely happy. My head was sore the first day but after 48 hours I felt fine. I received excellent lessons on how to care for them and products I should use.
The whole team at Harroin was great company during the experience and next time I'm town I'll definitely go back!
(Special thanks to the stylist Stephanie, since she put in the 4 hours of hard work on my head!)
If the Hairroin Salon is addicted to anything--it's learning.
I went a few Fridays ago at 1pm. They flew in a well-known hairstylist. She cuts Conan O'Brien's hair, among others, at NBC New York. She critiqued all the stylists as they cut their customers hair. She took over cutting hair periodically, demonstrating her advice. It was cool to have a famous stylist cut my hair (for a regular salon price).
Hairroin Salon is committed to improvement, and that benefits you--the customer. You may get a better hair cut every time you go!
Marcy Harmon Kim gives good hair! I've tortured the poor woman for years. Insisting that no one can cut my fine limp hair except for her. Marcy just gave me a gorgeous cut a couple of weeks ago. People have been asking about it non stop. She just knows about balance and what cuts are going to work for people. I'm no spring chicken, but she turned back time with this one!! It's been a head turner with both men and women...thanks Ms. Marcy!
I have to admit that it took me a few hits to get my complete fix of hairroin. I first started shooting up with Mr. Patrick Killian there. Killer stylist and extremely positive dude, he was able to get rid of my hideous fashion mullet and turn my faded pink hair into a raspberry chocolate truffle. I took a short break from this place since Hairroin is crazy expensive, but what do you expect when you are shooting up with some good shit.
Rehab was a bitch and I found myself not getting the same high from other places, so I staggered in again and asked for the best for women's hair. Marcy got top marks for taking it to the next level with styling, so I finally got in there and had an amazing experience. She definitely knows how to take your vision and make it into reality. She didn't hesitate when I said, " Take me back to the 60s, cause if there's no smack there's no soul."
I walked out with a killer mod shag do' and I love it.... I think every 2 months I'm going to go in for my fix... because no one likes a quitter.
Based on great reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I was kinda broke at the time so I decided to go with the least expensive way by choosing a junior stylist (prices depend on the level of stylist). I made an appointment, and being that I am so picky about my hair, I was worried I won't get a good result for that price. I told Dani, the girl that answered the phone, to book me with the best junior. I got Reyna.
My first experience at Hairroin was absolutely fantastic. The assistant hairdresser, Ashley, gave me the best hair wash I've ever had, seriously. Very gentle and relaxing. Reyna was very sweet and I really like her style. I enjoyed talking to her while getting my haircut. Another thing I like about Hairroin is they don't push you to buy the products they carry. Instead, Reyna wrote down a suggestion of hair products she recommended that I can later come back and buy them if I want to.
Overall experience: For the longest time, I was always in search for a salon and a hairdresser I can stick with. I hate jumping from one salon to another just to find that perfect someone who not only can give me a great result but has a great personality as well. Reyna's definitely a keeper!
Dammit! I'm still unemployed and can't afford a hair cut. I'm counting the days till I get to go back to Hairroin. Seriously ... haven't found anything else this great.

I found myself at Hairroin after answering an ad on craigslist for a "free" cut. During these times… Read more »
Hairroin is definitely not your mom's hair salon... just look at the name. Hairroin is pretty much exactly what you would expect... edgy rocker haircuts giving edgy rocker haircuts. There are about a million name puns I could throw in here but frankly I don't I won't...
Indulge in a mimosa while you get chopped (and hope that your stylist hasn't indulged as well...). It's pretty affordable for your first cut, but very very pricey after that, so this is definitely somewhere to go if you're willing to splurge.
I've only been once, because a friend of a friend who had cut my hair elsewhere before starting cutting here, and he ended up being even more expensive than the rest of the crew. Worthwhile, yes, they didn't do anything quite drastic enough to make it worth THAT much.
If you're going to hit up Hairroin, get your money's worth by going all out and changing up your style completely, and if you can afford the habit, treat yourself to Hairroin regularly.
I was having to fly back to my beloved stylist in San Francisco to get my cut and color until my stylist told me to find Marcy Harmon at Hairroin Salon. After a few attempts at trying to find the salon (which I mispelled), I finally came in to get hair did!!!
Marcy Harmon is a goddess of hair! She really knows how I want my hair cut and colored... She knows I love the sultry, slept in but without all the fuss and time type of look! And she is able to bring my hair back to its healthy state after color and vacationing in the tropics for a month and being in the sun and ocean daily. Marcy really listens to what you want..not what she thinks you want...I am so comfortable with her and know that whatever she does to my hair will look amazing that I allow her to play and do her thing!!
The salon is chill and laid back. All the stylist and the front desk are very friendly, unlike some places I've been to in LA where they are pretentious and rude!
