When I moved away from Sacramento for law school the thing I missed the most was getting my hair cut at Hair Phases. I seriously love this place.

My hair grows fast, really really fast, so I like to get it get every two weeks. Coming here that regularly meant I got to know the staff really well. The owner Daena moved here from Italy and is easily one of the most lovable people you will ever meet. She is engaging, professional, and truly cares about each of her clients. It was always a pleasure to chat with her while I waited to get my hair cut.

Each of the stylists who cut my hair were excellent. They always listen to how you want your hair cut and pay close attention to detail. It's almost impossible to find somewhere that consistently delivers great results at a reasonable price, but Hair Phases is definitely the exception.

If you are looking for somewhere to get your hair cut come to Hair Phases, you will never have to look for a new place again.

One word...ZERO....that is the amount of times I will go back to the butcher shop for a hair cut. O M G..my daughters cut turned out ok. When I say shoulder length, I don't mean to the nape of my neck. My daughter said I looked like I was going to cry and the other stylists were looking at me like "what did the stylist do"?.  The stylist proceeded to say how cute it looked. WHAT? Are you near sighted? When she asked how I liked it I said "it's too late now". I will now be travelling to my native bay area to get hair cuts from now on. No one up here seems to listen to requests.

This place really is consistent with talent, I have used at least 4 different stylist due to a few reasons, none of which due to lack of talent.

    - Stylists move on with relocation, life etc.
    - I am great planning my workday, terrible planning my personal necessities, so I utilize the walk-in service on occasion.
    - I recently discovered Nicole, which is phenomenal! I will be trying to book her more often.

Bottom line: This is a $40 haircut for $20.

I went in here a while back for just a basic haircut and to add a few layers. The girl I had (can't remember her name) did an okay job, nothing special. I wasn't TOO impressed... especially for the price I paid.

IF I WANTED MY HAIR CHOPPED OFF I WOULD HAVE DONE IT MYSELF!

The stylist and I hit it off great at first...And then she chopped off my bangs! I guess by angling my hand and saying "start here" I'm not being clear enough to not give me straight bangs! And when asked "like normal bangs?" Please clarify what "normal" means to you because all the normal bangs I see are angled! So now my bangs start half way down my forehead with a tuft of hair sticking straight out because it's too short to blend in with the rest; it was cut for straight and won't just comb over to the other side. I could not see or feel what was happening when my hair was being cut, she was either in front of the mirror or I was faced staring at someone else while my hair was being cut. A good amount of time was spent on my bangs, she tried fixing them but the only solution is to just let them grow out now. My bangs were drenched, dried, trimmed and then doused in hair spray (repeat 2 times). After my bangs were chopped off I was basically ready to leave, and I'm sure the expression on my face said it all. I remained relatively calm because there was nothing else to do besides go to anther salon to fix the mess up in about, oh...3 weeks. The mess up was blamed on me, the client, and no apologies were given until I was almost done. It wasn't until I got home and tried to fix my hair that I was really livid. I should have waited for my regular salon to have an opening, but instead I'm now spending double; $35 + tip for the haircut, and $56 + tip I'm going to spend on the haircut to fix the mess. Do not let Yelp discounts lure you in, it's not worth it! You couldn't pay me to come back here!

I love love this salon. I recently found this out after going to another salon that jacked up my hair. I took off one star because I had scheduled an appointment and got a call an hour before my appointment stating they made a mistake and that's what made me go else where.. next time I'll be patient and wait for an appointment at Hair Phases.

I got my haircut and styled by Chelsea (2nd time going to the salon and 2nd time loving my cut) after my hair grew out and I couldn't get an apt is when I went somewhere else and got a horrible hair cut, a couple months latter I called and got an appointment with Chelsea again and she fixed my cut and saved me! lol

I had recently received gift certificates for haircuts at Hair Phases International.   It had been 10 months since I'd had my last (what I considered bad) haircut at Great Clips, so it was definitely time to get my hair back in shape, literally and figuratively!  You see, I'm one of *those* that waits entirely too long to get a haircut then desperately ends up at Super Cuts or Great Clips.  And the results have always been hit and miss (unfortunately)....

I called Hair Phases on a Saturday to see if they took drop-in's and to see how late they were open... Turns out, they are open 7 days a week -- open until 6 p.m. on weekends and until 9 p.m. during the week.  So, I raced on over since it was nearly 5.  The salon is large-- lots of stations-- and the receptionist was friendly.  I quickly filled out a form adding my info and pretty much right away Jan the stylist introduced herself and showed me to her chair.  We went over details (wanted long layers, my hair is a pain in the ass-is fine and thin-tangles-would like more body, blah blah blah, etc.), I said I had a gift certificate to use...  It was then time to wash my hair and get going on the cut.

Jan was cool, friendly, sweet, with a charismatic personality and is an excellent stylist...  I liked her hair style and whole look (which I feel is definitely important IMO!).  I enjoyed chatting with her while she cut my hair.   Jan took time to cut and style and explained how to blow dry my hair to add more body.  As a result, I am totally happy with my new haircut! :)  I will NOT be waiting 10 months until my next hair cut and assured Jan that I would be back for sure.

Thanks Jan and Hair Phases International! :)

Can't speak for the other hairstylist but  I adore my hairstylist, Jessica. She's super awesome, very pleasant and lovely. She listens and remembers what i ask her to do. I have super sensitive scalp so I can't take  a lot of the hair color  they use nowdays but they carry a super gentle line that has awesome colors and my scalp does not burn or itch during or afterwards. Yesss...finally!!!
Everytime I'm here they seem to have a steady flow of clients and regulars. They must all be doing a good thing here. Me likey! =)

I had some mullet syndrome going on and it needed to be killed before it grew any longer. My hair seems to grow pretty well in the back... it's just the top and front just can't keep up with it. I was starting to fear for my life! What if I decided to go hunting and someone thought it was a squirrel and shot at me! ...or worst yet, what if a squirrel thought there was a foxy looking squirrel on my head and started to hump it!? The possibilities are endless. So kids, remember... mullets are bad.

I was told about this place by a friend, and I am a big fan of the referral system. I stepped in for the first time and the receptionist was pleasant and had me fill out a quick form. I thought it was a bit odd... I've never filled out a form to get my hair cut before... a massage or a medical exam sure, but to cut my hair? I was wondering if they were planning on going mid-evil on my mullet.

So I sat down and the stylist started asking me a few questions first such as products I used, my hair preference, and so on. I was pretty content that she did nothing but inquire prior to doing anything. This gave met he impression that she wanted to make sure my needs would be met properly the first time. She then took me out back to get my hair washed, then cut.

The mullet was no more and I ended up with a slightly different cut then I was used to. I liked the out come very much, and it even cost considerably less than other salons I have been to. I was very happy with my experience and for the first time, I am actually looking forward to my next hair cut!

Meredith King was my stylist and she was friendly and nice and did a good job.   However, I only got a bang trim so I'm not sure about their skills on other things like color and cutting yet.  I'm going to give it a try though.   They sell Moraccan Oil which is a plus since that product line is my fave.

$50 spent on another bad haircut.  The hair stylist was too busy singing to the songs on the radio rather than paying attention to how short she was cutting my hair.  She kept raving about how good she was and how many years of experience she has had cutting hair....but the layering job did not live up to all her self hype.  Furthermore, she cut my hair way to short for "long layers".  And to make matters worse at the end of it all she put all these products in my hair and claimed that my hair dries so nicely that it didn't need to be styled.  No professional stylist will send you out of the salon with sticky and wet hair....

I admit I didn't even know this salon was there! I found a coupon in the Natomas Shopper for $5.00 of a mani/pedi. Just what i was looking for! It is about time these salons started doing some discounts for nail services, in this economy. The coupon was good for first-time customers only. I got a pedi for $20 and a mani for $10, you can't beat that. At least not in Natomas. My manicurist was Jessica, a young, pretty, hip and very intelligent girl who astonished me with her knowledge of old movies and 70's music. We hit it off right away. She took her time, and did a thorough job. My nails look fabulous! My only complaint was the massage chair, which didn't work. Too bad too, because I do look forward to a good "kneading" while I sat. But, we were so busy talking it really didn't matter. The salon is large, open and airy. The receptionist was very take-charge, and friendly. I am quite happy with my experience.

I was in desperate need of someone to fix the bad haircut I had gotten at Supercuts (another desperate act).  I happened to be in this shopping center and looked over and saw Hair Phases.
When I walked in, I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist.   She asked me what I needed, I explained I had gotten an uneven cut at Supercuts and needed it fixed.  Now, she could have taken this chance to completely insult everyone who works at Supercuts, but she didn't.  She said most stylists who work there are good, but there are some bad apples.  That impressed me, as a lot of businesses will tear down the competition if they get the chance.
She had me fill out a short form and then set me up with Edward.   Edward was super nice, and has the cutest Southern accent.   He said he knew that I needed my cut evened out, but before he did anything, he asked me how I normally style my hair.  I told him, and he spent a few minutes examining my hair.  Then he shampooed me and used a really nice conditioner on it.
He took awhile to cut my hair,  but he explained what he was doing as we went along.  We made small talk, and it didn't feel like he was forcing himself, it just felt like he was being friendly.   I kept expecting him to bring up my home haircolor job (yet another desperate act, I think I need help) but he didn't.  He cut a little more off than I was expecting, but he said the cut he was giving me would make it easier to style it how I normally do.   He also used a couple different products on me, and when I asked he told me what they were, but didn't try to push them on me.
The finished product was gorgeous!  I was really happy with the cut, it looked 1000 times better from when I arrived.  It was soft and shiny, and the cut was exactly what I wanted.
The true test was this morning when I woke up, my hair always looks awful in the morning, but this morning I ran a brush through it and it all just fell back into place.
The cut was $45, a little more than I was hoping to pay, but the end result is totally worth it.   It looks like a much more expensive cut.  I will definitely go back to Edward, he was really nice to talk to and he did a great job.
