5 reviews for Hair Lounge & Spa
Richard Brassfield is the Holy Hairdresser of all that has ever come and gone before.
I used to visit another sylist there, and when he was overbooked and running late, I had the esteam privilage of getting Richard. Oh baby is he DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN GOOD!
He has the touch of an ANGEL.
The bedside manner of george clooney himself, (very charming)
And the skills of a nuerosurgeon!
I handed him a picture of Brittney spears (WAY back when!) when she was brunette with a few blonde highlights, and he delivered the EXACT cut and color as seen in that pix, down to every blonde shaft!
I've gone from Plantinum, to brittney brown, to Blondie, to RAVEN, to Cappichino, to....(oops I tried to do it at home quickly for an event)...to OMG, I "f-ed" up Rick Help me!....to Beautiful Blonde!
The man is a genious! He can fix anything (i've done, or anyone else) and I have learned my lesson, and wont do any quick root jobs anymore...LOL
He is worth every penny (not crazy prices for his extensive experience!) and I have referred absolutely everyone to him, and they are also just in love with him.
The location is very cool with rolling toolboxes for stations, music videos playing on TV's, and art for sale on the walls. They always call to confirm my appointments, and love that they offer a nice robe to change into.
A++++++++++
Always hard to find someone who can do nice highlights (and not look like an Asian whore!).
So, I love my cousin's highlights and had to go to the same person she went to. Saroun is great (it helps that she is also one of my cousin's really good friends)! She felt the same way as I did that the highlights shouldn't be too light and she did my highlights perfectly. I may think twice about getting my haircut only because I didn't very much as done to my hair and I still ended up paying full price for it. But, these lovely highlights are enough for me to make the trek all the way down south ...
Sabbatha saved the day and cut my hair extensions beautifully and affordably after another salon canceled. She styled my hair very nicely as well, and clearly had an enthusiasm for hair and hair extensions that seemed common among the other stylists in this salon. Her expertise and relaxed manner were very much appreciated, and I had many compliments on the results. The salon itself was pleasant, not pretentious. From the outside I had my doubts, but it was worth the long drive.
I've never gone to a salon for the installation of extensions before (usually it's myself or a freelancer), but I was so impressed that in the future I just might consider it.
I have been a client of the owner's (Richard) since the tender age of 10. I have been with him through his different locations, and about a ZILLION different cuts, colors, and extentions. You name it, i've had it.
He catered to my "i-am-an-individual" attitude while i was in high school (see: crazy-ass hair), gave me dreadlocks for school dances, gold, black, and red extentions to match a dress, (and pink, white, and orange on a separate occasion), dyed stripes of color into the tips of my hair, and supplied the bleach for my blonde-addicted years. He also cleaned up the messes I used to make of my hair when I tried to do my own dye job - manic panic style. As I matured and decided I didn't need to have outrageous hair, he picked out a flattering dark brown, which I still use and love.
This man can do no wrong. I've never been to another stylist there, but I'm guessing he only hires the best. Too bad it is in ghetto federal way though. That's the only downside.
okay, so i went back and forth for awhile about whether or not i should let the cat out of the bag and share my newfound secret spot with the world. i also didn't want my other stylist to think i was bailing on her or her skillz, cuz lemme tell you, she knew asian hair, too. but since i live in tacoma, driving to ravenna for a haircut just didn't make sense (especially with gas prices so high) .
so here i am, giving my review for the hair lounge, since i know that as a good little yelper, i musn't be greedy -- i need to share. and technically, mira let the cat out first, so i may as well back her up.
i LOVE this salon. it's SO CUTE! omg such a little gem within the vast strip-mall jungle that is federal way.
i was referred to this place by one of my best friends. THANK YOU LANDRA. michael hall cut my hair. i officially have a crush on my stylist.
he was 20 minutes late starting with my cut, but you know what that told me? he is thorough and attentive. he did an AWESOME job. he was so knowledgeable about hair (being that he is asian as well, he KNOWS asian hair). i didn't really even have to tell him what i wanted. i just told him what i didn't like about my hair and he just sculpted away! he was also super sweet about giving me pointers on how to use my flat iron and a round brush and bobby pins instead of those corny claw clips (i promised him i'd throw all the ones i had away :)
i've FINALLY found my forever stylist now, close to home and everything.
YAY!
