    Hairdotcomb is the best.
Have been going there for years, always excellent haircuts, great prices, great people.
It's one of those places that you kinda want to keep a secret so it doesn't get too popular, but that is inevitable.

Let me say first as a caveat that I am a special type of person when it comes to getting my haircut. I have thick, coarse hair that also gets extremely frizzy post-blow dry. It is almost on the verge of unmanageable if you do not layer and thin it out correctly. I came to hair.comb purely on the basis that it has an incredibly good rating, but then I realized that my hair is just different by the end of my haircut here.

I called in to make sure that they have stylists who know how to manage thick, frizzy Asian hair. A woman on the phone told me that they were all experienced in terms of dealing with Asian hair, so I believed her. But I digress.

The product of my visit here was the complete opposite of what I had wanted. I came in with thinned, layered hair that simply needed a trim length-wise. I walked out with poorly layered hair that managed to turn into a bob (i.e a straight cut instead of a V-shape). This is honestly the worst case scenario that I imagined in my head and this is what I received. I hated it because it made my hair look even thicker than when I had just walked in. How does that even happen? I attentively watch hair stylists throughout the years handle my hair, and she cut it as if it were anybody else's hair, too. If you're going to cut it "by the book," that doesn't work for a lot of women.

I had to go elsewhere in Bellevue to drop another $40 to get this haircut fixed. That's $80 total for a trim, including tip. So, if you have similar-sounding hair as me, I would not recommend this place at all. Go find some place else. If you have nice, fine, and manageable hair, this would probably be an okay place to go. The only reason I gave it 3-stars and not 2-stars is because the girl who serviced me was really pleasant.

pretty good haircut, girl who cut it was named rebecca.  she had style.  its good to get someone with style to cut your hair.  she cut it how i wanted without me really even having to tell her how I wanted it exactly.  quick and to the point just the way i like it.

they also let me drop in and get it cut right when i got there, so cool.  i'll bump this to 5 star

they kept teasing me though because i am a dork, but thats my fault

I've been a customer from the day they opened (10+ years) and won't go anywhere else.  My 9 yr old son, 8yr old daughter and I are regulars.  The boy and I drive down from north of Seattle at least once a month.  The staff is like family and we always get great consistent haircuts.  Can't speak for everyone, but if you're a guy looking for a place to get a good cut without a frou frou salon or rolling the dice on who's available at Hair Masters, you need to go to Hair.comb.  Become regulars like my son and I, and you'll never have to worry about a bad haircut again.

WOW!! I have been searching for someone to be "my personal stylist" as I seemed to have had one bad experience after another, and that's just what I found at this salon! Lindsey (the one with purple hair) treats me like my haircut and color is the most important thing in her world at the time, and I so appreciate it! She listens and is patient with me as I try to figure out exactly what I would like. She also gives me styling tips to be able to re-create the awesomeness when I'm at home.
I have never had a hairstyle that I get complimented on so much as I have since I started seeing Lindsey. Seriously, actual strangers have stopped to tell me how great my hair looks.

...and did I mention the AMAZING scalp massage during the shampoo? Man, I'd go back in there just for one of those!

The entire staff at this salon are easy-going, funny, and fun to be around. I would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone!!

Tip: park in the lot on Brooklyn and about 47th with the yellow and blue sign with a "P" next to the dry cleaners. The salon validates this parking!

I'm not sure what the lady's name was, but my colorist (cute, thin, brunette, short hair) was great. She got my hair just the way I wanted, not just in color but in styling as well. It's the first time I've walked away from a salon without wanting to rush home and restyle it myself!

$75 for color, a little rich for me though ):

I get my hair cut very, very rarely, and thus was a little nervous going to a new hair place on one of the few times that I was getting it cut.  The price for a ladies's cut ($30) is great.  I almost opted to go to a more expensive place to feel more like I was making sure my one hair cut in a long time was worth it.  However, I ended up going here, and it was great.

My stylist, Rebecca, was kind and listened attentively as I blathered on about what I thought I wanted with my haircut - I am a low maintenance type of hair person (and generally know little about hair), and I often worry that stylists will look down on that, but she never made me feel inferior because of that.  Rather, we talked about what types of cuts/styles would work best with the amount of maintenance that I was interested in doing.  She clearly knew what she was doing, but again, never made me feel inferior for my lack of knowledge.

Despite the lower price than many other salons, I didn't feel like my cut was skimped on at all.  Rebecca took her time cutting my hair, and was also happy to explain anything that I asked about.

The rest of the staff there were so friendly and kind; it was like being in a salon with a bunch of friends.  What a wonderful atmosphere.

And did I mention the price?  I mean, I think that $30 is a lot to pay for a haircut, but when most places want to charge closer to $60, this is a wonderful price.

In short, the next time that I need to get my haircut, I will be coming back here!  With one trip, they have earned my repeat business.

It's not a 5-star review just because I don't feel like I have been there enough to evaluate if they are truly awesome, or if I just had a good first experience.  But regardless, I would highly recommend them.

Hair[dot]comb just happened to be the first place I saw when I wandered down to the Ave in search of a haircut.

That was 11 years ago. Despite the fact that I moved from the U-dist years ago, I still make the trip to Hair[dot]comb whenever I need my hair did.

That's not to say I go there out of sheer blind devotion. No sir. I tried going to a couple of other places, to test the waters so to say, but I always regretted doing so. It's tough to appreciate a bad haircut until you're on the receiving end of one. After those experiences I've stuck with Hair[dot]comb.

Not only are they skillful with the shears, they're also really pleasant and friendly people. Anne, the owner, is great. Lately either Misty or Lindsey has been cutting my hair and both do a great job and are cool people.

Pro Tip: they also validate parking in the lot behind the former Rite Aid.

I love this place! Specifically, I love Misty, who gives consistently great haircuts. Every time I think I've found someone I can depend on, they let me down with a bad haircut after the 2nd or 3rd time. But Misty is always great. She takes her time, listens (!) to what I want, talks to me about what she thinks would work, and then does exactly what she says. Also she's incredibly nice and fun to talk with. Hands down the most personable stylist I've gone to.

Add to that this this place is a lot less expensive than many place I have gone (yet results in better hair!).

Since it's at the north end (ish) of the ave, I'm usually able to find street parking without a hassle.

My friend and I made appointments at hair.comb today after reading all the positive reviews, and both had a great experience. I was just looking for a trim and some slight fix-ups of my layers and my stylist Lindsey did a great job and was super friendly. It bothers me when you go to get your hair "trimmed" and it ends up more of a "cut," so I appreciated her carefulness to not cut more than necessary but still manage to get every split end! My friend saw Misty for a full cut - she has thick curly hair and Misty did a great job lightening it up and thinning it out.

The staff were all really friendly and had plenty of helpful hair advice to give, and we got appointments easily on a Friday afternoon, though I don't know about the ease of walking in. The only thing was that both our cuts cost $30, and they didn't seem to have any sort of cheaper option for just a trim vs. a full cut.

Great place for all your hair needs!

Not gonna lie: I do a lot of things out of plain old boredom. That, combined with the fact I realized I haven't gotten my hair cut in 3 or 4 years [yikes!] pushed me to search Yelp for someplace reasonably priced within walking distance of the UW. Up comes hair[dot]comb, and at a 5 star average rating with a 2 $ price? Consider the selection made.

I had no problem walking in for an impromptu haircut, and once I was on the chair I mentioned how I've been thinking about coloring my hair... instantaneously my appointment became a coloring appointment, too! I'm an easy sell, it's true!

Long story made short... I am awkward. I felt totally comfortable around the ladies running h.c, they had great music playing and not a snooty vibe. There was totally a 'distinguished lady' [I'd guess her at 50] sitting next to me getting her hair done -- truly a place that anyone could feel welcome in, which is super important to me.

As for the hair cut? Cut and color for $90 total pre-tip, and I love it. I almost look like a little Misty M. clone -- Allie S., now with more faux ginger! And I chopped off enough to go to Wigs for Kids; so the fact I'm lovin' my haircut rather than lamenting the loss of my long hair is of particular importance.

I was going to wait 'til I had a good picture of my hair to post this review, but I'm so psyched about it you'll have to wait for an update in a couple days, because I want to post now! :t I am selfish like that.

    Edit: Pics posted!

I have just recently gotten my hair cut at hair(dot)com by Jackie. Jackie is really nice and easy going lady! She understood what I wanted and asked me how comfortable I was about cutting off the split ends. I am use to going to Gary Manuel salon and paying quite a bit more. The hair cut was $30 which I thought was a great price. I will definitely be going back.

I've been getting my hair cut here since I was an undergrad.
The ladies working here do a great job and from what I can recall, the price of a haircut ($25) has not changed within the past few years.

They do accept walk-ins but I'd recommend setting up an appointment beforehand. Keep in mind they are not open on Mondays.

Also, for parking there is the old Rite-Aid lot. Do not pay beforehand, the salon will validate it for you (asking for a dollar donation, though).

So there you go, get a fresh do and walk out pretending like you're in a Garnier commercial, tossing and flippin your hair like there is no tomorrow. Oh wait, that's just me.

I'm so thankful to have found this place. It's one of the few places where stylists take the time to figure out what you need, and treat you and your haircut very personally. I have gone to Misty three times, and every cut has been superb. This place is  absolutely amazing.

I got a hair cut for under 30 bucks with tip (unfortunately no student rate). I was getting tired of my long knotty hair so decided to cut it short. Margarita cut my hair and she did an awesome job giving it a little body (it has none). The ladies who work there are fun to talk to. Check it out!

it was the 3rd haircut id gotten within a month.
i've been wanting my hair short forever.. but something always held me back..

but yay!! Misty made it happen!
I got a short ass bob done, and i'd never had short hair within the past 10 years or so.
I've gotten complimented on my haircut by a bunch of strangers... and also friends.

4 stars because of the constant raking of the comb against the back of my neck done by Misty in order to get my hair straight.
I thought my skin would get raked off and i would bleed to death.

I received such a terrible haircut from Misty today that I am wondering if the other reviewers were paid for their reviews.

The haircut I received is significantly shorter than I asked for and the cut is not at all what I described. I asked for my bangs to be trimmed, half were cut and the rest were left long. I asked for layers, I received one tiny layer.

After the cut was complete, Misty began to chastise me, telling me I should have cut my hair sooner and that I should bring a photo next time. She offered to fix my hair within a week if I was unhappy, but I am too sacred to let her touch it again.

I recommend staying away from hair.comb, go somewhere else.

I love this place. I've coming here for hair cuts and highlights for 4 years.  Kelly is an amazing stylist.  She is friendly and has a great sense of style.  I always leave it up to her to pick the color and style for my hair and have never been disappointed.  The price for hair cuts and color are very reasonable. I have since moved out of the area but whenever I fly back to Seattle, I always make an appointment here to get my hair done.

I have been going to this salon since they opened. The service is excellent. The staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable and the hair cuts are always consistently great. The trick with this place is to book early, so you can get in when you want. Once I spaced getting an appointment, my hair got too long and Easter was coming. Unfortunately they couldn't fit me in. I went to a chain place, Hair Masters. The gal cutting my hair actually told me "My manager never lets me blend" Thankfully Anne was able to fit me in a few days later to fix the massive screw-up! The owner Anne really takes pride in her business and it always shows. Highly recommended

I've been going to hair.comb since 2002 and am always pleased with the service. All of the staff are friendly and well trained - I usually make my appointments with Jacque, but you can't go wrong with anyone there. From color to cuts to facial waxing, they do it all and do it well at very reasonable prices. Just made some nice upgrades to the salon with new lighting and paint to freshen it up a bit. Fabulous salon!

I have been going to this place ever since a friend recommended it to me. I always get nervous having my hair cut because it's so long and thick and I've had many bad, traumatizing experiences. I have my hair cut by Misty and she does a fantastic job. I was trying to grow my bangs out and it was in that in between phase where you can't really do anything with it, and I brought that concern up and she gave me a cut that gave me some flexibility with what I could do with my bangs and it still looked fine even though my hair is a work in progress right now. I also cut it the day before a wedding, and I NEVER cut my hair before a special event because if it gets messed up you're screwed! But I was confident in Misty's skills and she's always done a great job with my hair especially with how much I have! I bring pictures of celebrities too and she'll tell me if it will work on me or not. I appreciate her input because I don't always know what's best for me. I'm going to continue seeing Misty because I've never had a bad haircut with her! Plus the prices are decent! 25$ for my long thick crazy hair!! Usually people charge me way more when they see how much hair I have! It's great if you're on a budget!
