Review from Jeff G.
Awesome beer selection! The manager is passionate about beer and it's very obvious when walking through the beer isle. The selection is almost as good as Birra Deli but MUCH cheaper. Lots of good Oregon beers available.
Checking out here is HORRIBLE. The lines always take forever. If they could speed up this process, they'd get 5 stars from me. -

I like Haggen for somethings more than others.
Pros:
Amazing bulk candy/nut section! They have everything, and it's fresh.
Salad bar - fresh, plenty of choices.
Sandwich/deli - delicious prepared foods and sandwiches
Floral - they have some nice flowers and gift items
Cheese - a pretty good selection.
Cons:
Checkout - it's always pretty slow. Self checkout doesn't seem to make it go faster.
Meats - no real butcher there and selection/pricing isn't great
Prices - overall, the items here are much higher than elsewhere. I definitely don't buy my everyday items here unless I'm desperate.
Produce - they don't have a huge selection, but quality is pretty good.
I find myself here mostly to get a salad from the salad bar, but then I end up buying other things I don't really need but get there because it's convenient. -

This is a decent store. Right down the street from where I live, only takes about ten minutes to walk here if it's not raining out.
They have a great selection of food, produce, drinks...you name it. The food court is okay, but today my son and I had Chinese food, and to be honest I've had better. Nice food court area with wifi (where I'm giving this review).
The produce looks very fresh. They are a little more pricey than other stores in this burb, but it'll be worth it if I get items that are a little harder to find.
My son and I were going through the Food Court Express to pay for our food and while we were standing in line and our food was on the belt for checkout, one of our soda's tipped over, dripping a little bit of diet soda around the belt. I apologized and the checker was very nice. But the manager came over and I apologized to him without even acknowledgement from him. Then when I walked by to get some soy sauce, I overheard him still complaining about it, even though the lid stayed on and very little seeped out. That was kind of frustrating, to say the least. He didn't even smile to ease my discomfort. I probably would have given four stars had this incident not happened. It's not the spilling of the soda, just the seemingly bad attitude of the manager over the mishap.
I'll be back often enough...hopefully they can redeem themselves. I hear that the employees here are very nice. I hope they don't follow in the footsteps of that manager. -

I first shopped at this Haggen in 2002 when my alternator burned up nearby and I had several hours to kill waiting for my car to get fixed. At the time they had one of those annoying "club cards" you had to get to avoid being severely ripped off on price, but they've eliminated that. YAY to Haggen for hopefully leading the way in getting grocery stores to get rid of these stupid cards.
Haggen is overpriced. Not as badly as the Palisades Lambs Thriftway in Lake Oswego, but almost. For example, giant Kit Kat bars that contain 12 "sticks" of Kit Kat (a triple Kit Kat) are currently on sale for $1.25 at Fred Meyer. Smaller giant Kit Kat bars that contain 8 "sticks" of Kit Kat (only a double Kit Kat) are $1.99 at Haggen.
A RIght Guard deodorant that's $3.99 at Fred Meyer, is $5.99 at Haggen.
What I like about Haggen are 1. the self checkout and 2. the deli area.
Any store that has a self checkout gets bonus points with me. Many shoppers are still not confident enough to use self checkout so the line is almost always the shortest at the self checkout, if there is any line at all.
I don't cook, so I love their deli area. They have a huge selection of ready to eat stuff, so you don't have to cook. Their chicken strips are surprisingly good, just about as good as KFC and less expensive than KFC.. For about $5 you can get a plastic thing of 4 or 5 cold chicken strips with ranch dipping sauce.
They also have a whole Panda Express in there (it's not called Panda Express but it is the same thing), a salad bar, and a full service deli in addition to the extensive self service cases.
Besides chicken strips, I recommend the focaccia sandwiches and roasted potatoes. All excellent. You'll also find standard sandwiches, mini sandwiches on buns, hero sandwiches, twice baked potatoes with bacon on top, roasted squash, three different kinds of SAMOSAS (beef, chicken, and veggie), black beans & Mexican style rice, chicken enchiladas, meat loaf, roasted chicken... a variety of dips... salads... wraps...soups... corn bread... and that's about it.
Don't go to Haggen unless you want some good "grab and go" food. -

I want to give you more stars Haggens. You are doing so many things right. I see the same faces working there for years and they are friendly and helpfull. But I have to go here with a plan. Winging it can cost you a pretty penny.
Local to the Pacific NW they usually have a Meat deal going on and I have no problem being a beer snob on a budget here
Tell you what bring back the $2 Washington Apple Juice and I'll up my rating -

I really, really dislike shopping at Haggen. It reminds me of a really ill-organized, ridiculously priced Roth's. They've even got the green logo. Okay, so I know Haggen came first, but I have a really hard time paying $4.50 for a quart of hazelnut coffee creamer, and waiting in a really slow line, only to be asked if I have a Haggen card so I can get the $0.10 off.
For some reason, this location feels really boxed-in and I get claustrophobic every time I go inside. Could it be the fact that the ceilings (at least at the entrance) are ridiculously low? Or because the rows are close together?
BUT...the Haggen lunchtime selections make this place worth the extra stars. Surprise, surprise! It's actually a ridiculously good deal...salad bar, deli, paninis, and Chinese food. The deli has lunch specials where you get an entree plus two sides and a drink (and they LOAD on the food) for about $6.99. The "Oriental Market" has a similar deal, where you can get a rice bowl (rice plus two entrees) for $6.99. And seriously...so much food I can't finish it. Uggh!
This particular location even has a cafeteria area where you can enjoy your food. NOM NOM NOM. -

I was in a hurry and ducked into Haggen for some lunch and tried the Chinese food. Chow Mein, Rice and two entrees plus a Coke Zero for $10? YE GODS!! Was it good? Not really. The teriyaki chicken was swimming in a brown sauce that wasn't very teriyaki-ey, the honey chicken was a decent taste but way too much tempura batter. The chow mein was actually pretty good.
The little teriyaki place across the street is way better, I'll go there next time.Listed in: Swing! And a miss!

Haggen is the slightly upscale alternative to Fred Meyer just down the street. I am a fan of the deli and prepared foods section. On my most recent visit, they had two soup options and I chose the Minestrone. A great chunky soup with the right amount of zest. They also have sourdough bread bowls and cornbread nearby to complete your meal.
Next stop was the deli where I grabbed the Mixed Garden Salad. My other favorite is the Broccoli Sunshine. Lots of gourmet pre-made sandwiches and salads as well to grab and go, but they also have an eating area inside if you want to eat there.
I think the quality of their prepared items is way above average, but it comes at a high price. I always pay more then I expect, but they always have what I want. My kids enjoy the Chinese food here and I like the wine section. -

Perfectly located off of SW Boones Ferry Road in Tualatin, I love this grocery store because it's so well-maintained and stocked. It's open 24 hours which is ideal for this night owl!
They also have a cafeteria section with freshly made dishes (incl. sushi, sandwiches, etc.); but this area is only open during certain
hours of the day.
I've found myself here many times when Burgerville was already closed and I just wanted to go somewhere with bright lights and late night shopping opportunities. And of course, what's not to like about no-sales-tax-Oregon!
Locals consider this kinda upscale-ish. I'd probably compare it to Mollie Stone's but it's a huge place with massive variety. Their produce section is clean and pretty, too!Listed in: Portland-bound!

Haggens has great food, quality merchandise and the two best pharmacy staff I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Aida is the most caring and dedicated professional here. Not only is she on top of everything, she still takes the time to inquire about me and my family. She knows each and every prescribe medication I've been on since this place opened. She treats us like family and we feel the same about her.
Forgive me for the spelling of the top pharmacist Sook since I spell his name like it sounds but he has never chastised me for it. He too is such a wonderful person and a complete professional. There is nothing that he doesn't know and will work with you to get what you need no matter how much time it costs him. He knows the entire family of mine that includes our family of six and the grandkids as well. I love him for always knowing what to do for us.
Overall, we couldn't ask for better people taking care of us. There jobs are just as important as the hospital staff themselves and we are grateful for the work they do and kindness they show. Leave the other pharmacies and run not walk to Haggen's. You won't be disappointed. -

Clackamas, OR
The good:
large beer and wine selection.
Good bakery.
Nice deli.
Large cheese selection
Lots of parking
Has a trimet train stop
The Bad:
Low staffing rate, so lines take a while.
Not a large vegetarian selection.
Expensive
I'd give it four stars if they were still open 24 hours -

It seems like I may be one of the few people who actually likes Haggen. The prices are decent if you know what to buy, and when to buy the items you want (Some are seasonal). Of course I may be just buying food that isn't too popular with the average consumer.
Watercress: I buy it for salads. It adds a nice peppery bite.
Fresh figs: Delicious in desserts of course, and great with pork.
Rose water: I flavor Baklava with rose water, so I keep a bottle handy.
Ceviche: I love making soft shelled tacos with ceviche filling. They are wonderful!
If you're looking for hard to find food items in Tualatin, Haggen is the place to go. You never know what kind of interesting things you'll find. -

I have a little game I play when I go here. I try to buy only things that are on sale so that I don't leave feeling like I've been wronged for paying about a third more than I would at a normal place. Usually, I can pull this off and leave fairly happy, but it's always a game of chance. Their meat is one of the few things in line with or cheaper than other places, especially in this part of the country where meat prices are crazy. They have a good sized wine selection that is only a bit more than other places, so that's good. Being 24 hours gets Haggen another star out of me because I can't think of many 24 hour grocery stores out in this part of the country, and having a Starbucks (not 24 hours) inside doesn't hurt, either.
If you care about a somewhat "upscale" feel to your grocery shopping (I don't), then you might enjoy it here for that as long as it's also cool that the cost goes up with the environment in this case. Beware the bags of nuts/candies, etc. from the bulk section placed right at the checkout area for your convenience (in case you forgot) because it will show the price in huge print making you think that's the cost of the package (and looks almost fair), but it's really the price per pound, so you will likely have paid twice that price.
If you are not willing to get a Haggen card (evil concept that's true of most grocery stores anymore), you can easily go broke shopping here. -

Friendly & helpful staff... saw me wandering aimlessly and asked if they could help.
Huge selection of chilled booze. Both beers & wines.
The lady chatted me up about Zyrtec ( my first spring here and my nose is going nutso) and how her twin boys use it & like it.. I'm from a small town so this small town type stuff.. chatting with strangers about their families makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! wtg Haggen I'll be back. -

I had an upset tummy so I went to Haggen to get some food and medicine. I was feeling very gassy so I was checking out the pepto and other medications. Afterwards, I was walking around and looking for food. I felt a rather large gas pain and since nobody was around, I let it out. Unfortunately, it was a wet one and I made a mess in my underwear. This has happened before when I have an upset tummy. I had to waddle into the bathroom and take off my underwear and clean up. I just wanted to say I was sorry to Haggen because I left my underwear on the floor, it was a real mess.
