This is the best place for seafood in the area. Go there for lunch for better prices on equally large portions, and definitely don't skip the chowder.
I'm knocking a star off since they still don't accept credit cards -- in this day and age, that is ridiculous. -

This place is great. It is always crowded though so call ahead if you can. The food is fresh and really good. A great family Owned place with good service.

This is sort of like the classic new england fish place.
Great clam chowder, huge lobster rolls (served hot or cold), great fried haddock, lobsters etc.
Pretty decent pricing. An entree with 2 sides runs $12-$22 mostly?
Again they only take cash, which is annoying. they do have an ATM inside, but still its 2011.
Make sure to try the cajun fries -

Staple of Marshfield! great fresh fish! The food itself gets 4 stars.
The only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because of the service, which was deplorable. I went with 2 friends, and we were seated immediately. That's where it gets bad. Once we sat, we looked over our menu's and knew what we wanted within 2 mins. We waited for almost 15 mins for our waitress just to bring us our drinks. While waiting, a mother and daughter sat behind us, and they got served everything before us; food drinks etc. I'm sorry if I'm mistaken, but aren't you supposed to wait on the people who have been there longer first? After getting our drinks, we waited another 10 mins before our lunch order was taken, all while the mother daughter duo got served first. Not very nice. The waitress was MISERABLE. So beware when going there, you might just get looked over for a more favorable table..gross. -

Excellent food, so delicious. I mean its friend seafood, but even after eating a lot, I still felt ok! Got the fried clams and scallops, kids got pasta, and ate the whole thing, that is saying a lot.
Interior could use a little sprucing up, and they only take cash, little odd. But again, the food is excellent and the prices are good.
So I downgraded my review. I went back twice more and had horrible experiences. The first time, with 2 kids in tow, they tell me 15 minute wait, we waited 50 minutes for a table! Also the hostess, is not friendly at all, unless you are townie. The waitress was rather so so, and they do not have many beers on tap at all. Only seafood on the menu, plus they only take cash, come on its 2011. -

I really don't understand all the positive reviews on here. People from this area should know good seafood!
Went here last Saturday for the first time. Very busy and strange dining room set up. Have to walk through bar and server are just to get in. Menu is small and is basically steak or seafood. Prime rib was ok but cut badly and over cooked. Fried seafood was very bland and these o-rings are just terrible.
Lobster pie was frozen lobster with bread crumbs and chowder was like wall paper paste...don't understand.
They don't take credit cards!!!!!! -

been coming to haddad's since i was a tot, it's my dad's all-time favorite restaurant. Went last night for the first time in a while & it hasn't changed a bit. Sat at the bar, had excellent / friendly / no frills service. started with some stuffies, lobsta chowda (both delicious), & a big $6 glass of sangria (can't beat that!). i got the stuffed haddock & it was good. BF got the jumbo lobster roll & it was A-MAZING! I got a few bites before he devoured it... wished i'd ordered my own!

A fantastic seafood experience with a very New England beach side feel. The people know each other here and outsiders are very welcome.
The deluxe seafood platter is sublime and could feed a village. I've never had fried lobster before Haddad's and it was worth the wait. The fried scallops were my favorite and the chowda' warmed me up.
They have bucket of beers and they only take cash.
If you are in town and looking for a seafood place, look no further. This place has lasted while others have come and gone. -

I love Haddad's. Relaxed and charming, it is the perfect spot to order a beer and enjoy a lobster roll after a day at the beach.
Please note: there are two sizes of lobster roll. Regular and Jumbo. Go big or go home. -

Everytime I'm in Marshfield I have to go to Haddads. Not only is the food amazing and a steal, the service is great too. From the bartenders, to the wait staff, even the owner comes over and talks to us. It's always a fun time in there!

Haddad's is across the street from the ocean in the little village of Brant Rock. Like an actual brant (which is a small goose that winters offshore here), I like to go in winter when it's less crowded and the coziness quotient is off the charts.
To me, Haddad's is the South Shore version of The Village in Essex. The clam chowder isn't quite as good, but my other favorites (lobster pie, onion soup, fried clams) are comparable. An order of onion rings for the table is an absolute requirement.
Occasionally. eight or ten family members will go and take the big table by the front door. Last year, my brother and I went down to watch a football game at the bar, and I had one of the best burgers I can ever remember eating. Chuck, the owner, works hard but is always available to extend a welcome.
I've read some local reviews that complain that there is an odor, but that's unavoidable when you're frying large quantities of breaded seafood. Go to Haddad's, but don't go too often, or you'll need a stent or two.Listed in: Old Stompin' Grounds (Quincy)

My parents are regulars here, and in the years I've been writing restaurant reviews I was forbidden to reveal "their secret." But since Mayor Menino has been in here, it can hardly be a secret. Now that I'm not the first to review it, I can happily say a bit about this place.
The food is amazing, simply because it's not trying to out-do itself or be gourmet. The portions are generous and dinner entrees range from $12-$25. The lobster/seafood casserole is crumbly and jam-packed with fish (scallops/shrimp/haddock and/or the meat of 1 lobster if it's the lobster casserole). I usually don't get much else, unless it's the fried clams (with bellies), that are huge and battered just-enough. The fish & chips and broiled or haddock casserole are also delicious. Sides are hard to choose from: go with the onion rings and cole slaw, or the buttered green beans. We usually get spaghetti w/ meat sauce for the kid. Relatives have had the steak & chicken, which are good, but really, is that why you're here?
If you're able to, go during the week for lunch. The lobster roll ($10.95) is just toasted enough, is full of lobster, and has just mayo & celery to hold it together.
It's a family-owned restaurant, and sure, it's far from fancy. And maybe it could do with some updating, but that means the prices would go up, and we can't have that. The floor in the dining room is bowed from surviving so many storms & floods. Also be warned: cash only.
While I feel a slight pang of guilt that maybe part of me shouldn't have given our beloved Haddad's such a glowing review, the only thing I'll feel bad about is if we can't get in on a Saturday night. Good thing they're improving the parking lot in the back. -

Haddad's Rocks. I love the lobster chowder...i buy it by the quart.
When i was living out west i would come home to visit freeze two quarts and fly home with them. It helped my homesickness.
The prices are great and the fish is fresh. The sides are good and the service has been the same crew since 1978.
They cleaned up and made some improvements to the place a few years ago so its looking nice.
The regulars are the local fishermen drinking draft beer.
The best seafood on the south shore.
Share the twin lobsters or have the lobster casserole...
The chicken sandwich is gigantic. Say hello to Chuck, he's the owner in the kitchen. -

On the positive side, I really loved the friendly atmosphere and service. This is a good place for families or to get a drink with friends. You would probably feel better if said friends included middle-aged men in Topsiders and polos...but I digress
ANYHOW, I am not a fan of fried food. It seemed to be the specialty at this locale, so I figured they could offer up something that pleased me. Not at all, and I agree with the other poster about the breading being devoid of even salt and pepper.
I wish I had tried the stuffed lobster, boiled lobster or seafood casseroles instead. I might someday if I'm in the area, but the fried seafood I had made me ill. I'm used to much lighter fare, and this was too much grease for me. I also noticed that the clam strips werent cooked at all and tasted like fried mud.
My lobster chowder arrived with skin on the top. How long was it sitting there in the serving dish? Gross. It was too thick, and the lobster meat inside tasted like absolutely NOTHING. It was just a different texture with zero flavor. How do you ruin the best part of the dish?
I was also really annoyed with the placement of the hostess station. It is in the back of the restaurant, between the restrooms and the kitchen. There is so much traffic that you're constantly inconveniencing the staff while you wait for a table. Its terrible, but the friendly owner tries to make conversation and make the wait less miserable.
Sorry if this review is all over the place. It's been a long day, and I had to get it out when the memories were fresh! -

I still love Haddad's, but I felt like my review needed just a touch of an update...
Their seafood (and food in general), really is great. It's nothing fancy, but that's really not what you'd be expecting when you come here. It's a local favorite, and for very good reason; terrific seafood at incredibly fair prices. (Awesome service, too... the waitstaff in particular are very sweet, and always very accommodating. Always.)
My big (and only) gripe with Haddad's is their clam chowder. (Does that sound petty? It just makes me sad when a great seafood place has lousy chowder.) It's heavy, mealy, and ah... flavorless? If you've read my other reviews you know I love my chowdah. Haddad's really disappoints in this area, but know that going in. Don't go here for the chowder, kids.
Still a four star place in my book. (Work on the chowder, Haddad's... please!!!)Listed in: Viva Marshvegas!

Have going to Green Harbor for almost 20 years and if you like fresh seafood Haddad,s is one of those old style family/local places you have to go. Expect it to be busy, that says something already. Full bar ,nothing fancy, just good food at reasonable prices.
Lots of locals and summer folk, hard to tell the difference, same folks vacation there every year. -

Nice local restaurant, the cook/owner was out in the dining room chatting with a group of regulars. There were five of us for lunch and 4 of us decided on the fish and chips, 1 opted for the clam plate. Really fresh seafood and plenty of it for $8, the clam plate was around $12.
I have heard that the owner's brother has a fishing boat so he gets the daily catch directly from him. The space has a bar on one side and a dining room on the other, yet both sides have a slanted floor so make sure you have your sea legs! I left happy and very full. One warning...cash only! -

This place has been around for a while, a staple of Brant Rock. The food is decent, though there are better options. However, you can't go wrong with some fried clams. Yum!

This diner looking place filled with various seafood dish is absolutely fabulous. 99% of customers seems to be native Marshfielders, it may make you feel that you don't belong there. But don't let that intimate you. Because of that, it creates "big family dinner minus argument" like atmosphere which I found it awesome. Also this results the staffs being wicked friendly. You may find the seafood platter pricey(somewhere between $20 - $25), but it is market price and you won't find it cheaper anywhere with that quality.

I went there Thanksgiving weekend with my daughter's in laws and this place was terrific. It's a local "in the know" kind of place that delivers very high value for a very reasonable price. The service was crisp and efficient. The food was terrific - clam chowder New England style loaded with clams and the lobster gratin - simply divine. Fresh crisp french fries and a big heap of fresh cool cole slaw. Reasonable drink prices with a "good pour".
Not sure if it's open for brunch, so I checked only lunch and dinner. -

Haddad's Ocean Cafe is one of those places you go back to time and again because the food and the staff are consistent. Take note: if you are going for the first time, don't judge this restaurant by how it looks on the outside. And while the inside won't make the front cover of any restaurant design magazine, the booths and the tables are comfortable. While seafood -- fried, broiled and baked -- may be the headliner at this family-owned seaside cafe, the Chicken Parmesan, Steak and Lamb are first rate. The Clam Chowder and Lobster are always top notch. Oh, yes, and don't forget to ask your waitress for a side of onion rings. Ever since Charlie's Snack Bar closed, they are the best around.

South Weymouth, MA
This place is fabulous!!! The food is so fresh and not greasy at all. The prices are reasonable for the quality of seafood they serve. The only complaint I have is they only accept CASH!!! This is a major downside to this place as most of the ATMs around there charge fees if you are not a member of that bank. I think they should upgrade their old school system to offer use of credit/debit cards. Other that that whole issue the place is great.

Best seafood in town. Nothing fancy but fish is always fresh, cooked perfectly. Very much a "locals" joint but don't let that fool you. Visitors are always welcome. Very reasonably priced. Very friendly bar where everybody knows your name or soon will.

My boyfriend and I LOVE Haddad's. We always sit at the bar or bar area and get great service and great food. Believe it or not, they make a great vodka martini. Lobsters are always perfectly cooked; not overdone and the bartender and waitstaff are always friendly. The owner always comes around and greets the diners and is a sweet as can be.

Marshfield, MA
If you want good seafood, go to Haddad's. The fish is caught fresh and you can tell. Their baked haddock is awesome as is their fried haddock, scallops and clams. With dinner, you get a choice of two sides and theres lots to choose from. Granted some of the sides you can tell are canned, like the green beans, they're still good. Try the cajun fries and onion rings or a side salad. They have awesome tartar sauce, too! If you're looking for a fancy, high class restaurant then Haddad's isn't the place. Its perfect for a casual meal with local flare. Its so nice in the summer to eat here then go walk the seawall.

Marshfield has some damn good places to eat and Haddad's is one of them. It is definitely a basic seafood shack, but I don't think a place has to be super fancy to warrant 4 stars; it just has to be good at what it is. The food here is awesome. I love fried clams, whole bellies not strips with lots of tartar sauce. Fish and chips, onion rings and other similar fare will not disappoint. Also, they have nice cold beer, so how could that be bad?
