One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, the service excellent and the drinks....BIG! :-)
I usually go with my hubby and have only attempted the kids one time. They loved the food, but with kids in tow...it gets spendy. A couple of months ago we had dinner there as a big group of girls for my bachelorette party and it was great. Private room to ourselves and twelve ladies drinking big margaritas!
I haven't had anything there yet that I didn't like. I stuff myself silly every damned time we go....so be prepared with some antacid....I can never stop eating while I am there. :-)
This place was beautiful! I really think this is the nicest Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The exterior decor is amazing. The food was... well... it wasn't exactly inspiring. But the prices were reasonable. I think this is actually a good place for a date or business meeting. I had the fajitas and that was delish...
Note that the chips are great (thin and crisp), while the salsa is amazing. I couldn't get enough of it.
The only downsize is that getting there was a bit of a hassle. I wouldn't make the drive up there again unless I had a really good reason to do so (i.e. a business meeting). yeah. This is a solid 4 star to me.
seriously...I would rather taco bell. Maybe I am a mexican food snob, or something, but everything tastes like it was out of a can, or pre-manufactured. I have found this to be the status-quo at MANY places in Denver.
To summarize
If you make tacos at home, with pre-made taco shells, this might be considered good mexican food.
If you judge a place by the margaritas, and not the beans and rice, this might be a place for you.
If you need to be greeted in english, and cleanliness of restaurant are your top things, this might be your place.
Clue: if menudo isn't on the menus, there is good chance that you are going to get Taco Bell quality mexican food.
Finally got an opportunity to visit Hacienda Colorado with my wife for early dinner. Lot of friends had good things to say about this location.
The interior and the outside patio area was very welcoming, well decorated and had a contemporary feel to it. The waitstaff were efficient, although we thought we deserved little bit more attention from the waitress attending our table! Hence the 4 stars.
Food was great for the price. We had Shrimp and Mahi mahi tacos. The dishes were generous, filling and tasty. We did not endulge in any alcoholic drinks but the Margarita options were very interesting and tempting as well. Lot of variety than any other place I've seen.
Good value for money and a great place for eating out with friends and family.
I love Hacienda. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The service is always excellent, the food is great, the margaritas are amazing. The prices are good considering the fact that one entree is large enough to easily feed 2 people. There is usually a long wait on the weekends, but they allow you to call ahead and get on a wait list.
o.m.g. mexican food is my absolute favorite and let me just tell you: this place is amazing!! i love the green chili - any of them - and their cimis are just ridiculous. seriously. my stomach is asking me quite loudly for a little bit of Hacienda goodness....
the only drawback i've encountered is that a couple of the waitstaff were kind of rude - not too excited about being served by someone who would rather do something else and doing everything they possibly can to let me know about it. but, i've recently met an awesome guy who works there, so this rating may just graduate to 5 stars!
Hacienda Colorado always has great service. I cannot name one time I've had bad service here! That in itself gets big props because for how busy they get they still have a system down and the service is great every time.
Their food is always delish! I love their tortillas and queso. Their salsa is always fresh and let's not forget about the margaritas! They have awesome margaritas!
Their happy hour drinks specials are decent as well.
I recommend calling ahead on the weekends. They get super busy!
OK, great looking place. I didn't expect kidsville though. This was family with small children heaven. The place is like Chili's with vibrating pagers for the wait list, slightly crowded dining rooms (great deco....). Waitress seemed annoyed to be working, had her spiel down pat and didn't care to deviate. The food was pretty non-descript for Mexican - I've had much better at Benny's. Then there was the rush to get us out - no - would you like something else to drink - and when we asked about desert, we were told we had already been asked - though none of us remember being asked - and we were drinking diet coke. SO, all in all, a good place to go if you have a minivan full of 3 year olds (they serve a mean macaroni and cheese with French fries, apparently) - but not the best place for a real meal with grown-ups. Sorry. [shudda taken Tiffany's advice .... I'll learn]
I love this place.. in fact I love it so much that when I got married recently.... that's where we went to eat afterwards with our little gang!... The Ultimate Margarita's.. well the name says it ALL!! I LOVE them... You SHOULD only drink one.. but I try to stay long enough so I have an excuse to drink TWO~~~.(Safety Tip!!) Have a DD with you or on call!
The atmosphere, very fun... it's kind of a mecca for http://Match.com dates and if you sit in the bar area for any length of time, you will notice these couples.. pretty enjoyable people watching to be sure... I wish they'd let you eat in there because sometimes there is a LONG wait for a table.. and remember what I said about that Margarita?? You are going to need some food!
They let you do call ahead seating and I definitely recommend doing that.. just call ahead a bit before you leave and they'll put you at the top of the list when you arrive.
The food... AWESOME and unique. People like to say "this is authentic Mexican food" "That is Authentic" but I've been to Mexico and each region is totally different from the other.. What I like to find is AWESOME Mexican food and this place has it. I've probably been here over a dozen times and have never had any complaints about the food and the service is always friendly and awesome.
Sitting outside by the firepit in the evening before or after dinner is also very enjoyable and just add's so much ambiance to this Meridian location.
HC is my favorite mexican chain ... Beats the others hands down. Right now I'm obsessing over the Guacamole Enchilada's with Shrimp. Have had them three or four times. Yum Yum. I've eaten at all four locations. All were good including the newest location on Colorado Blvd.
My kids love to watch the tortilla's being made.
This place is classy "tablecloth" Mexican.
The food is top of the line, and so is the service. It's located on a frontage road off the Interstate, a little difficult to get to if you don't know where it is. It's a tad expensive, but I would say that the prices are right in line with the quality and the service that you get.
If there's better high-end Mexican cuisine in the Denver area, I haven't found it. Go try Hacienda and see for yourself.
Hacienda is a terrific place, in my humble opinion. I've been there several times, both for work lunches and family dinners. I have yet to be disappointed!
Most notably, I've enjoyed the bacon-wrapped shrimp (although to be fair, I like pretty much anything wrapped in bacon) and the carne asada.
The atmosphere may seem a little fancier than you'd expect, but it's perfectly fine for kids. There is a very comfortable outdoor waiting area (inside too) with a large fire pit and benches. Or if you prefer, you can wait for your table at the cool bar.
If you're going for dinner on a popular night (weekends), it might be good to make a reservation. They're usually pretty fast, but when it's really busy you could find yourself waiting a while.
Not incredibly overpriced. Good date place. Make sure you have a reservation, even on weekdays. Wait staff is pretty forgetful, despite the fact that have several people assigned to each table. The drink guy, the chip guy, the waiter etc. What do they use those headsets for? Been frustrated here more often then not, but the food is acceptable. Okay 'white' mexican food.
Mountain Mex is what they advertise, and you get that for sure here. No canned refried beans and rice here...Its very fresh, very tasty southwestern food. chips are made fresh all day, all the sauces are also made fresh. You can taste the difference. Ive been a fan of this place since it opened. Once you eat here, you'll never go back to a normal mexican place again.
Hacienda Colorado is our standby favorite. We first discovered Hacienda Colorado back at the Wadsworth/Belleview location in the late '90s, and we've had nothing but fantastic experiences eating there. Yes, it can be crazy crowded, and the prices aren't as moderate as some might like, but the quality is incredible and well worth the wait and extra money. The chimichangas are great, but the one dish that gets rave reviews from everyone is the Camarones Baja ... bacon-wrapped grilled shrimp. My wife gets it every time, and I always have to steal a bite.
The sauces are also a big part of what they do. My favorite is the spicy pork green chili, but I also love the queso, and I hear great things about the roasted jalapeno sauce. On a final note, you're not likely to find a broader selection of tequila at any other Denver restaurant. So, whether you enjoy your premier tequilas neat, in a shot or mixed in with a top-shelf marg, you won't be disappointed here. I prefer the Cabo Wabo Anejo ... yum!
Oh, and last but not least, Hacienda Colorado serves the state's best salsa ... finely diced tomatoes with a balanced flavor and nice kick. I want the recipe!
The menu sounds good, but... meh.
They have a big list of tequilas, but the server doesn't know anything about any of them. I guess I could have asked them to bring the bartender over. But instead, it was either have something I'm already familiar with or go completely blind. "Oh, yeah, um, lots of people get that one." Oh goody. And when I keep ordering straight shots of anejos or reposados, different servers keep asking me if I want to upgrade from regular cointreau to a higher grade mixer, or whether I want it frozen or rocks. Huh? (Their lack of ever saying "anejo" or "reposado" when they repeated the order and delivered the drinks, just the manufacturer, wasn't exactly confidence-inspiring, but they always seemed to taste correct.)
So the food... we had a pretty big group and they'd ordered big bowls of guac and chile con queso with chips as appetizers. The con queso had quite the disgusting plasticky skin on top of it, like they let the whiz sit too long after nuking it, and went untouched by the 7 of us it was allocated to. The guac wasn't memorable, in either a good or bad way. The chips are really nice though, and the house red salsa is pretty good.
I had the poblano chicken with "spicy chile relleno". The poblano was perfectly cooked, but the chicken chunks and corn relish were pretty bland. The relleno's first strike against was that it was smothered in the cheesewhiz that we'd already eschewed from the bowl. I avoided the sauce though, since it was mostly breading, so I dissected it and scooped out what little bit of chile and cheese were inside anyway. The rice and beans that came with were standard Mexican chain, lower quality than Chevy's.
The place has potential, and maybe on another day, ordering more carefully, would be OK. Probably the best bet is to sit at the bar, if you can eat there. But there's some good food in and around the Tech Center, so it wouldn't be one of my first choices.
Great chips and salsa. Try the Queso or Green Chile Chicken chimichangas. It seems a little upscale for the prices and menu. Waiters and diners are fairly dressed up, made our casual family a little unconfortable but still worth it.
The best thing about this restaurant is its ambience. Not only is the place gigantic, but they were able to make it look cool too. Their entrees have a bit more pizazz than your regualar mexican restaurant meal and the prices are still at a decent rate. We had the fajitas nachos as an appetizer and they were some of the best I've had. The portions are huge--including desserts and drinks (they practically give you a big-gulp size cup!!). At the end, we tried their cinnamon icecream rolled in pecans and coconut. Not only was it AMAZING, it was pretty much the size of my head.
