Dru is the best! My haircut this morning was a highlight of my day. This nice little salon is located at an easy-to-find corner in Fremont, with a calm Northwestern decor inside (think echoes of the Ballard location, but less logger-like). I've been going to Aveda salons for years, but this is really one of my favorites.
As other posters mentioned, there isn't any deliberate product-pushing. I usually buy something when I go, but only because Dru uses it on my hair and I love it. The prices, at least for a haircut, don't seem bad to me; I paid $50 for one that I've already received several compliments for. That's cred to my stylist, not to me....
Very friendly people, without an over-the-top polished salon atmosphere. After all, it IS Fremont, folks! If you're looking for a fantastic haircut that's worth the reasonable price in a cozy location where the conversation is always easy, then go here. And maybe after you can do a little shopping and watch yourself tossing your fabulous hair in the windows...or maybe that's just me.
Viola is the best! I have gone to her twice now and she really listens to what you want and does an amazing job. I am very particular about having my hair really blond and not yellow-ish and she has done a great job to get it just how I like it. She did a great job cutting my hair too. They aren't pushy at all about products. It is a little pricey ($195 for full foil, cut, & tone) but it's completely worth it.
I love this place!
My stylist left. The girl they recommended to replace my fabulous, friendly, extremely talented hairstylist, was sub-par to say the least: fresh out of school, and honestly kind-of butchered my hair.
This was well over a year ago and my hair has since found it's happy place elsewhere, but I should add to my last review that not all junior stylists are created equal.

Ask for a junior stylist - the price of whatever you are having done will be dramatically reduced.… Read more »
Habitude is the type of salon that you go to when you plan to really pamper your hair and don't mind investing money in that process. After frying my hair a few too many times, I decided to tone down the color with lowlights and see what I could do to rehab the condition without sacrificing the length.
After my appointment with Heidi, I'm happy to say that the condition of my hair has improved far beyond my expectations. The combination of highlights and lowlights she gave me put my overall color exactly where I wanted it. She also did a shine treatment that went a long way to improving the look and condition. And she spared me the lecture about my split ends which I appreciated. She was personable and easygoing without being overly chatty.
The ambiance is pleasant if a little kitschy, the location is great. I didn't get a hard sell on their product line like I usually do at the Aveda salons. My service cost about $150 which was the upper end of my budget but they were up front about the cost.
If you're looking into saving money, definitely ask about getting your hair done by one of their students.
Relaxing spa. Soothing atmosphere. Woodsy ambiance. Awesome massages. Great people.
i got a complimentary haircut by one of their students in the advanced training program. ive always wanted to try habitude in ballard out, so i took up on this offer from their sister location. i accidentally slept in so i rushed there, but the place was easy to find. yay for convenient locations! aveda and bumble and bumble products lined the walls, and it was really cute inside. i didnt need to hurry, because they had scheduling glitch and they were running 30 min late. i didnt mind too much, because they had a relaxing atmosphere and when my student finally came to greet me, she was nice and the reason was genuine.
normally i dont like to talk too much during hair services because it seems so fake sometimes. however, we talked about random stuff pretty effortlessly and it was nice. when she wasnt sure, she got one of the instructors there and went over it with them. even though its a small place, they had 3 instructors, creating almost 1-1 setting. and they all were very friendly and easy going. big plus.
i enjoyed their service and the fact that they really listened to me. i got the cut i wanted. i'll def come back again, esp for their bang trims since... i finally can admit to myself i cant cut my own bangs.
Heidi does miracles with long, fine hair! I have never had such a beautiful haircut-- its been about 10 weeks (too long, I know!) since she gave me my first haircut and it STILL looks great!
Thank you Heidi!!!!
This salon is beautiful - it is second to none in atmosphere. Overpriced somewhat, but Aveda products line the walls so you'd expect no less. While you may pay a pretty penny for the services within this salon, you will also find an experience few get to enjoy; plus, they have many spa services availible as well.
So, I tried Habitute since it's within walking distance and I'm usually a fan of aveda salons. And the first time I went it was great. I got a good cut, it was quick, they gave me plenty of tea and didn't charge too much. And a few months later, I went back for another cut and highlights and had a somewhat disappointing experience. First, like every other stylist I've had in Seattle, the woman I saw the first time was no longer working there and so they gave me to someone "with similar experience". First I explained that I wanted really natural looking subtle highlights. And she worked away putting foils in and let them sit, and then took another client and left me alone for what seemed like a really long time. Much longer than the 20 minutes or so she claimed it needed. And then she took them out and they seemed pretty light to me, way lighter than I was hoping for. And I think I must have made some weird faces cause she asked me what was wrong, and I tried to politely explain that I was actually looking for something a little more natural looking. And she said, oh, well, it's been so long since you've had highlights, you're just not used to it. Ummmm, that's not the answer you're supposed to give! So, then she went on to cut my hair, which is really like the easiest hair to cut - straight, not too thick, nothing fancy. And I'm pretty sure it was lopsided when she said she was done. I never make people work on it after they claim to be done, but I had to with her. I was really sad since the first girl was really great! So, I guess it's hit or miss here.
