    riddle me this fellow yelpers.....

how do you know your in one of the best mexican restaurants ever?  when you walk in and all the workers are white (seriously, every single one of them) and you have the mexican owner doing nothing but standing behind the cash register collecting the tabs....you have to be good to have that kind of swag - and this place definitely has swag.

we got off the interstate because we had to pee so bad we couldn't see straight.  in turning on yelp's "monocle" and searching for "best places to pee" it pointed us towards  "habanero".

the selection/choices were totally awesome, the white workers knew how to roll a serious burrito (i wonder what they practiced that on), everything was fresh - no canned or jarred items here, there were vegetarian options, prices were reasonable and the mexican owner knew his restaurant was "all that"......thus the patrons were treated with kindness and respect like we were "all that".  and last but not least - it was a great place to pee.

muy excellente con mucho swag...... gusto....gusto.....

Habanero's has always been among my favorite Martinsburg restaurants; now that I am vegetarian, it is even more so.  I love the deliciously-filling burrito bowl with three vegetarian options (tofu, mushroom, or fajita veggie), and I love it when they pile on the restaurant's top-quality fresh ingredients.
Also, this is the only place locally where I can order something "extra spicy" and actually get it.  Ask them to mix a few drops of the "secret" hot sauce in with the normal "x-tra hot" sauce, and you chile heads will cry tears of joy!  They also have a less-spicy ghost chile salsa (available seasonally).
Delightful and delicious, and they make everything per your order.

Delicious, fresh Mexican food served made-to-order. To give you the idea, it is similar in style to the Chipotle chain of restaurants, but with the character of a local establishment and friendly service.

I frequent the restaurant a few times a month and am fond of the veggie burritos, nachos and tacos. Veggie filling options include fajita veggies, mushrooms, tofu or beans. For the meat lovers out there, you can get burritos, nachos, tacos, taco salads and/or quesadillas with your choice of chicken, beef, steak, or chorizo filling. Four salsas are available to suit your tastes from mild pico de gallo up to scorching hot habanero.  The queso on the nachos is awesome, and I'd recommend adding guacamole to whatever meal you might choose as it is always fresh and tasty.

All in all a great choice for good food, served fast when you're in Martinsburg.

Habanero Grill is a cheap restaurant that gives cheap restaurants a good name.

I had the steak soft tacos with pico de gallo, hot sauce, lettuce and diced onions; she had the same thing, with chorizo instead of steak.  It's basic Mexican, and Habanero understands that the key is having fresh and well-seasoned ingredients.  (Be advised that it's real chorizo, and it brings enough heat that you can afford to take the next step down for the sauce.)

Pro tip:  there's also a mercado across the street (Lupita's Grocery) where you can buy a Mexican (i.e., made with evaporated cane sugar, not corn syrup - yes, corn farmers' lobby, you can taste the difference) Coke to enjoy with your meal.

everything here is fresh and flavorful, nothing canned, nothing frozen!  the food has more flavor than Chipotle.  the "hot" sauce (orange color) is to die for.  it is a bit spicy but so full of flavor. every friday is spicy shrimp, and I spend my whole week in anticipation of shrimp tacos.

it is locally owned and those wondering who the owner is, it is the short red-headed girl, charly. be wary of adding even a smidgeon of extra anything as she will charge you at least $0.50 for any extra.  most extras are $1.50. the bearded guy "taco" who always has a smile on his is the general manager and the friendliest guy you'll ever meet.  he works there during the day so stop in for lunch and say hi.

Love Mexican.  I mean really....is there anything better than queso?  Well the best I've had is at Habanero.  These guys are awesome!  They serve everything so fresh, there isn't even a freezer on the premises!  It's a little daunting if you don't know your Mexican food because the ordering process is a lot like subway.  The good news is that the menu is limited to such things as burritos, tacos, taco salad, fajitas and nachos.  The selections are endless when it comes to the ingredients and the service is fast and friendly.

I highly recommend the beef burrito and the taco salad with extra queso (You'll pay more but it's worth it).  Their busy hour is from noon till one as everyone who works locally walks on in for lunch.  Try to get there at around 11:30 when the food is hot and at its freshest.

The view from the glass windows are excellent for those who enjoy people watching.  Esta bien!

I had a Chorizo soft taco. It was great. The Guacamole was really good.

This isn't a fancy place.  It's a small restaurant with tables and a counter where you place your orders.

I loved the place, I went there about a month ago and was very excited.
The food seemed very fresh and it was quite clean. They allow you to pick and choose various meats such as chicken, beef and Chorizo to top soft and hard tacos, Nachos and Taco salad. There is also a great selection of Hot to Mild spices and salsas to top it with.

Burrito snobs beware, a hard-core ethnic-style burrito joint this is not. . . but:

    1.  The bathrooms are reasonably clean (check).
    2.  The food is fresh and tasty (check).
    3.  The people that work there seem geniunely happy and appreciate my business. (check).
    4.  They sell homemade unsweetened and sweetened iced tea (check)
    5.  They are open 24/7 so I can get my burrito fix at all hours (sadly, no).

This place has the consistency of a well-managed chain restaurant, the freshness of your mom's home cookin', and a slightly quirky but always friendly staff.

I like meat but the tofu burrito is awesome too.

I will make a lame excuse to go to Downtown Martinsburg just to have a burrito from here.

I went there yesterday for the first time and had a chicken burrito.  It was great!  Salsa verde was awesome.  The place was very clean and simple but still had a nice atmosphere.  I'll definitely go again.  Plus, the burrito was HUGE.

I am so sorry that I didn't try "Habanero Mexican Grill" sooner.
Located in downtown Martinsburg @ 100 North Queen St. in one of Martinsburgs most historic buildings known as "THE MARKET HOUSE".
I was greeted with big smiles and sincere welcomes from the staff. As soon as you walk in you get the feeling that this is the place to be.
My order was to go. I ordered the "Shrimp Taco" special x 2 , "Chicken Fajita Platter" and "Chicken Nachos". The prices are fantastic and actually a bit less then ordering two large pizzas with 3 toppings delivered from a Non -Chain restaurant.
Everything tasted fresh and looked fantastic. Man I couldn't get home fast enough to dig in. Wow, the food was great and very fresh. Everything is made from scratch and it tastes like it.
One thing about the "Habanero Mexican Grill" is that you walk in and order at the counter and take your meal to the table, sort of like a subway but with much more class. They do serve alcohol. This place is simple, quaint and clean. I was quite impressed and cannot wait to go back and eat in. What a refreshing & different dining experience.

Food was tasty and pretty good for the price. Sort of comparable to a Baja Fresh, except locally owned. I'll probably go there again. Besides that, the only thing I can recommend is to serve the food hotter (the meat was not much above room temperature - and this was during lunch hour), unless I just hit them at a bad time. Also -- and this is minor --the gentleman who took my order when I first got in line on the right -- it wouldn't hurt for him to smile now and then. I don't know if this guy was the owner or just an employee, but he was not real friendly, very somber, and didn't smile in the least. Of course, I'm going for the food, not to befriend the workers....but it doesn't hurt to be just a little hospitable and friendly instead of a just a stern robot taking your order. Hope that wasn't the owner.....but like I said, I'll go there again. Hopefully next time the food will be a little more warmed up.
