This location is smaller than the Lex Ave or Herald Square stores, but it seemed like there was more sale merchandise and more smaller sizes left over (both excellent for me!).  On the sale racks I saw mostly 2-4-6s and 12-14's, so the merchandise looks more picked over.  The clothes at this location are more basic and less catalog-y or ready-to-wear, fewer mannequins, and the crowd was light when I went in (3 pm on a Wednesday in summer).

I use H&M for plain fitted slacks and tees, track jackets, socks, things to wear to a boutique-type job.  This store had plentiful basics in smaller sizes, but very few accessories or flashier stuff.

I don't belong here. I am not wispy thin. I need rugged clothes. I come for the trinkets. Sunglasses for under $10, and where else in the world can you get a derby hat that you're never going to wear for $13?

This is one of my favorite H&M locations.
Staff is nice sometimes. 2 full floors of clothing.
This is one place where I can always find something at a good deal.

This store definitely caters more to girls.
I found a really great spring jacket here Ive been eyeing a few months ago on sale for $20!
They have a sale section at the entrance when you walk in and one in the basement towards the back.
I also saw really nice bags on sale for really good deals.
The cashier yawned as she said Thank You but I know she meant it in a nice way.

I am an H&M fan, but this store was such a let down!
Usually my philosophy while shopping at H&Ms is to try on the craziest clothes and they tend to work out quite well, but the selection here was severely lacking, mostly business-y cheap silk and a small jewelry section. Oh, and not to mention, seemed over priced for the quality.
It hasn't turned me against H&M in general, but I doubt I'll ever visit this site again.

Clothing is a hit or miss, but it seems as if it's more simpler here.  You won't see that many wild prints.  If you come here for sales, that's even better.  I found a $30 shirt for $9.99; I'm happy with that.  Material is alright; might last you for a good year or so if you take extra care for it.

What a depressing shithole. There's gotta be a better way to sell and display cheap rags than this. I'd rather spend hours digging for lost treasures in Century 21 than minutes in this bland, boring, cookie-cutter, cheaply-constructed bits and pieces peddler. After the depressingness of this store, I literally ran a block south to Bloomingdales to forget my H&M experience.

I am extremely irritated. I hail from San Francisco, and when H&M finally made its debut out there, I was so freaking excited. When I actually entered the store (there were literally lines down the block during the first few weeks. KInda like when Trader Joe's hit NYC, apparently) I was HORRIFIED. It was nothing but boho-trendy nonsense from floor to ceiling. Where were all the cute, functional pieces that were not designed with the Olsen twins in mind?

I found them. They are still in New York. Listen, H&M, I know SF is not the style capital of the world, but how do you expect us to move forward if you don't even bring us the goods? We gave you Levis and Trader Joe's. WE DEMAND NORMAL CLOTHES IN OUR STORES!!

Now that's the place to go for mediocre but cute lingerie. At least they're not trying to make you believe you are buying what Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum wear. It's just good old disposable sexiness.

Why should you go? Well. You don't really want your man to be tearing off your Agent Provocateur outfit now, do you. I didn't think so. With H&M lingerie, you can let the boy go wild without having to resist the urge to kick him out of your apartment and set his clothes on fire. It's all about peace of mind.

Not every H&M has a lingerie collection, but most of them do. For girls from A-C I'd even recommend buying the bras. You won't keep them forever but they are cute and at that price, who cares. The briefs are adorable, hipster things with cheap and fake but sexy-looking lace. Again --- not for a long lasting love story, but a short affair with H&M lingerie once in a while is entirely acceptable to help bring back the passion in your relationship.

Wait, what am I saying...?

One of the worst H&M stores i've ever been to.
Ok...So I've lived in Ny. now for 2 years. This H&M is the one i became most familiar with because I skulked the streets of Soho mostly when I first ventured out in to "The Boroughs."
The clothes here......1 or 2 of each "style. Pretty much a mess.
And My biggest complaint, Yep...the employees. Now...it's not just this H&M is most of them. Its strange how they all have nasty ,angry, bitter employees. What are they doing to these people? Electro shock??? They always seem bitter and just plain out pissed off. Usually at the confused customers aimlessly walking about.
My experience at this store: I thought I was waiting to try clothes, but actually I was just standing behind one of the employees friends who came by to visit them on a lunch break. That's what I got out of their conversation until the H &M sales person actually acknowledged that I was there. And I had now been waiting for about 10 minutes!!! 10 minutes mind you.
And when they did finally acknowledge me it was a total inconvenience for them. Like I ruined their day . As I was trying on clothes I coudl hear everything about their very explicit evening the night before LOUD AND CLEAR...no holding back, whats so ever. The vulgarity was beyond imagination.
Next, the cashiers.......Pretty sure they didnt even look at me when i checked out. And they just continued thier conversation in front of me as if I wasnt even there.
This has also happened in other H&M's.Would you believe ...even in Chicago? How can this happen? Is H&M really that bad of a employer? Or do they reallly not care who they employ? Either way.......I hate this location. infact ....... I will never....ever go back into this store. Not unless I felt like getting verbally abused..or pushed around by the employees in the store..again. DO yourself a favor......this H&M in Midtown is pretty bad as well but not AS bad. Go here if you really NEED some H&M.

"H&M is like Forever 21 for 24-35 year olds. Their styles are hit and miss. Lately they seem to be catering to the punk look, which doesn't fit their target audience. Great deals, but the sizing is inconsistent."

I do like H&M because of their cheap, but cool clothing selection, however this location is not that great.  Men, beware, because this location only has women's clothing...and lots of it.  However, the 2 floors are always messy and not arranged very well.  Plus, the last time I was there, I stood at the cash register for 10 minutes while the cashier flirted with his girlfriend and took his sweet time ringing everyone up.  I got so frustrated that I walked across the store to another counter where I had just seen a man ring up some lady.  But, he says to me, "I'm not open" with a snotty attitude.  I would much rather shop at the one on 5th and 19th (approximately), which is much nicer.

It's good. It's cheap. It's disposable trends. Enough said.

The thing with H&M is that the clothes can be inconsistent in terms of hitting everyone's needs.  But it is known for hitting the major trends as they come off the runways - whether boho, 60s mod cocktail, YSL safari. Yet, the one time you go looking for black opaque tights, that will be the time when there is nary a legging in sight.

Sometimes, you may want something besides all the trapeze dresses stocked.  Or, "do I need sweaters, dresses, and tops in mustard yellow?" You may not, but I'm sure at least one person out there does.

The main tip is to stop in often and definitely try things on.  Sizes may vary from style to style.  And for a long time, the women's pants never seem to fit anyone I know - some weird bunching in the crotch!  But, that has gotten better in recent seasons.

One plus is that the recent designer collaborations.  The limited edition collections have been a massive hit for H&M internationally.

i'm glad this h&m has men's apparel.  i remember back in the 1980s, the gap did the whole androgynous/hermaphroditic/assexual/unisex fashion thing, and that made it hard for already socially awkard adolescents to figure out how to shop.  "am i in the right section?!"  then the fashionistas/fashionistos that run the store simply say "gender is a social construct," when they really mean, "i'm too lazy to sort clothes into separate piles for men and women."  being part of modern skateboarding culture, i'm not averse to wearing retro 1980s slim jeans.  however, i'm not like those teenage boys who purposely seek out "girls' jeans."  well, at _this_ h&m, i think i accidentally started browsing through the women's jeans.  nuts, they tricked me.  they probably had a hidden camera to capture footage of my secret drag queen life.  the blue jean drag queen?  ha ha ha.  *sigh*

yeah, i'm just a cali boy, a nor*cal dude to be more precise; and, out here, our santana row h&m only sells women's clothes.  i guess it's like how esprit out here only sells women's clothes, while some in other regions sell men's clothes too.  i believe i used to see some small benetton stores that sold just women's clothes and not men's clohtes, right?

well, i had been searching for a good pair of jeans for a while.  i've been wearing through jeans so fast these days.  i thought i remember being able to keep a pair of levi's for a couple of grades in school when i was a kid - and, as a kid, i would give the knees of my jeans quite a bit of wear.  for some reason, i haven't been buying levi's lately anyway.  maybe they _do_ last longer.  i have lots of torn up jeans, which don't look so good when i'm working as a silicon valley engineer at a big semiconductor corporation - though it would be fine at a software company.  some of the jeans i've bought lately are too low-rise, and those are also not so good for corporate work.  kids call it "sagging," right?  yeah, i have to save that for weekends.

well, here at h&m, i found myself a good pair of low rise (but not _too_ low), slim fit, boot leg jeans.  not bad!  i was going to buy a similar pair in raw indigo with tapered legs, but opted not too since i have other jeans that are tapered-leg and because i prefer zip-fly over button-fly.  (their jeans are all button-fly.)  well, i wore the jeans yesterday, and they were great.  i'll give this store four stars.

service?  yeah, it was fine.  fitting rooms?  fine.  i'm fine with this store.

A whole lot of trendy clothing jam packed onto racks that are far too close together. You'll find yourself waiting to browse a section because there always seems to be a person looking at everything you want to see.
Regardless, H&M is good at what it does. Trendy clothes for the masses? Cool with me!

Made for youth: low budget, non-durable goods. (My Columbia undergrad friend loves it.)  Bought one item there but ended up never wearing it.  Perhaps accessories have greater appeal demographically.

A good idea for a peruse.  You're never guaranteed any good finds and it's usually insanely crowded.  So patience is a must.  There's always a really long serious line for the fitting rooms so be prepared.  But I've definitely lucked out many-a-times which is why I keep coming back...

I usually am guaranteed to find at least one thing I like among the racks of clothing and jewelry at this multi location store. I often come here when I am looking for some new clothes to go out in as I won't care if I spill half my Cosmo on it and end up having to throw it out. Be ready to spend some time sifting through racks and pushing through crowds.

I love this H&M. There are two floors so this place is packed with clothing, and you can't argue with that. The womens selection is much larger than the mens, but they still have alot of great guys clothing. The clothes here are always really well made, so they'll last even though the prices are so reasonable. One of the best places in the city to shop.

your basic essentials. tanks, camisoles, black dresses, etc. nothing too extensive. everything is disorganized and annoying to sort through. it's true- all the clothing racks are so close together! i hate it when clothing is stuck to other hangers and tangled... that's what you'll find at H&M. (but in all locations)

this particular location is convenient. right in the heart of Soho- there can't be a better place to stick one of these stores. however, the organization and selection makes you cringe and self-loathing... wishing you were in Herald Square. where it's much bigger, better, and slightly more organized.

the ny stores are the replicants of their european siblings - and are maybe not as cool all the time but i have fond memories and still own the cool stuff I got in the Bacelona and Milano stores- 3, 4 and 5 years ago.....
so if I have a second I stop in and like today found two great dresses and a skirt.
but this place fits with my clothing value theory-
if a item of clothing cost you -$30 ( a negative since that is spent money) and if you get 10 compliments - that is a -$3 cool factor
if an item cost -$300 and you get 10 compliments that cool factor is -$30....
In this era of GREEN thinking and true values of peace and economic feasibility - the Iraq war has a -$1,000,000,000 cool factor.

I have a few things from H&M from Europe and NY that have great cool factors...cheap and lots of compliments....
thus 4 stars...only cuz the help is a bit overworked and not smiley.... my fave store  is on 5th and 19th
