Fantastic quality work! Just recently moved here and had some blazers and shirts to get altered and Gustavo was fantastic! Very reasonably priced, fast, and incredible work!

Will definitely do business again.

Brought in a new suit for tailoring with 9 days to spare. Set up an appointment in the morning with Gustavo, and I was in and out in 15 minutes; he had me wear the off-the-rack suit and took measurements and discussed what we should have done, quoted me for the price and sent me on the way. He had it ready exactly when he said he would, and the alterations were just right. I have another older jacket that I will probably take to him to get touched up. He was professional and quick, I would recommend him!

Seems like your best bet is to call for an appointment beforehand, not sure how receptive he is to walk-ins.

After many years of searching, I've found the best tailor in town. Gustavo was referred to me by a friend who works on TV and I had always admired how great his suits fit. Well, Gustavo definitely makes your suits and shirts look like they were made for you. It is true that he makes a $300 suit look like a $2000 suit.  He's amazing.  I had forgotten that on Mondays he isn't open (Instead he's open on Saturdays, which is very convenient for people with a weekend event who need an urgent alteration), so he called me back and was very nice on the phone, even though I was a bother on his day off. So besides being the best at what he does, he is also a very nice person to deal with and his prices are reasonable considering his great talent. Highly recommended.

My family and I have been going to Gustavo for almost 20 years to get our clothes tailored. He used to do great work, and appreciated our business. Unfortunately however, he has slowly become obnoxious over the years, does bad work and is unapologetic unless you're on TV.

This last time, I took him 2 suits to let out a bit. First, he never even remembered which suits I gave him. I had to remind him every time as if I was bothering him for giving him business. I came to finally pick them up and he totally butchered them. I had to go back 3 times because he kept doing the work poorly. When I came to finally pay and just get them back, he tried to charge me for work he didn't even do. When I told him he was wrong he hesitantly agreed, but then demanded the full amount without any recognition of the poor work he had done. When I asked for a measly $5 discount ($130 total) he said ok, but followed that up with "Fuck you and never come back again." I was shocked at how he can throw away 20 years of loyalty. I brought that up, and it only got worse. He kept telling me to fuck off, get out and never come back again.  When I left, he told me to have a nice life. I was so shocked that a someone would treat a customer like that. If that wasn't enough, he did it in front of another customer.

I've referred countless number of people to him over the years, but his head is too big now for the shit work he does. Too bad, because he used to be a nice guy.  So sad.

I was in a crunch! Waited till the last minute to get a dress I was wearing to a wedding tailored. I went in to see Gustavo (since he was referred by a friend of mine) on a Tuesday and he had it ready for me on Wednesday PLUS he repaired my husband's shirt just as quickly. He was charming, very sweet and reassuring. I absolutely love finding people with good energy that do good work!!!! I will definitely be bringing my clothes to him for all of my tailoring!

Gustavo is the nicest guy, and he does great work. His prices aren't dirt cheap, but they aren't nearly as pricey as most tailors in Los Angeles. To have a suit jacket and slacks tailored it cost me $65. I gave him a little over a week to work on it since I wasn't in a hurry, and the work was perfect. My slim fit suit fit me like a glove. I felt like I was wearing a suit worth thousands of dollars. He listens to all of your concerns and will give you his professional opinion on fit. He has many celebrity clients, so you know he does good work. He works out of this little hole-in-the-wall apartment, but don't let that turn you away! I almost left after I saw his shop thinking, "I need to go to someplace nicer with an actual storefront." I'm so glad I didn't bail. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, because he is a busy guy!

He is my new tailor for as long as I live in Los Angeles.

Rude!
I was looking forward to hopefully getting my suit tailored with him given all the positive reviews. So, I called. Here's how the conversation went word-for-word:
Gustavo answered: (with a monotone, sounds irritated)"Gustavo tailoring this Gustavo."

Me: "Hi, I was hoping to come in today would you be available?" (Now, mind you, I have a customer service background so I was as polite as can be)

Gustavo: No, you need to make an appointment, ok, bye.

Me: (In my head, WTF) "Ok, can I make an appointment?"

Gustavo: "I don't know"

Gustavo: (again, monotone/irritated) "when do you want to come in?"

Me: "is today possible?"

Gustavo: "I don't know I have 3 customers right now"

At this point I felt like he didn't want to help me.

Long story short, I was able to make an appointment for 4pm today. So I asked him if it was possible to get an estimate. He said, "no it's not possible. If you don't like it you can go across the street. It's simple as that. I have 3 customers in front of me" (Rude tone and did I mention an irritated tone) I bit my tongue and hung up. There's gotta be a better way to say things to potential customers!

It's awesome that any business is busy and getting a lot of revenue. I'm sure Gustavo is an awesome tailor. But, please just be a little bit more courteous and nicer to people like me who are just looking to get a simple alteration. If I'm an inconvenience to your business of trying to give you business then I think you need to take a step back and appreciate what you have because it can all be taken away.

Gustavo is a rockstar tailor. He gets it right every time. He understands fit and design plus his prices are reasonable.

He is a very busy guy, so make sure you call ahead and make an appointment, especially on Friday/Saturday.

I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews on here. I have been a customer for 25 years and everyone I send over loves him. Someone mentioned Raquel Welch and his celebrity clientele. He's been doing celebrity work for as long as I have been going to him and he's always been proud of that.  His work has always been meticulous and reasonable.

Gustavo is great- he is talented, knows his craft, and does his best to make sure you have what you need on time. I've had a couple of bridesmaids dresses tailored by him. Recently, I took a dress to him on Tuesday hoping I could get it back in a week- he was done with it in days, eliminating the stress by having it done early. Just call and let him know when you plan on coming in. He works with your schedule.

I agree whole-heartedly with Raymond H.   Perhaps, in the past, Gustavo was a superb tailor and deserved all the five-star reviews, but he is not now.  He ruined an expensive suit jacket and prattled on the whole time we were there about Rachel Welch and other starry star stars giving him business. When we complained, he took the suit into the back and ironed it after which he refused to remedy the situation. We left down his 40 steps and never returned. His work was shoddy and he was definitely, as Raymond wrote, obnoxious. Steer clear!

Gustavo is a genius when it comes to tailoring. I just bought 4 new suits and I have a 5th one I've been meaning to get tailored but I usually have little trust with new tailors. I took my first suit to Gustavo and I'm wearing it as we speak. I've gotten so many compliments on the fit and he's made this look like a $2000+ suit. He's won my business over completely and I will only be using him exclusively from now on. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Gustavo to any of my friends/family.

On top of that, he might be one of the nicest guys I ever met. Incredible customer service and knows exactly what you want as soon as you try on your clothes. I asked him to see if he can get this first suit tailored before a certain date and I knew my request was a tough one but he not only did he meet the date, but exceeded my expectations too.

See you soon Gustavo, I'll be bringing my other suits in the next week along with some shirts!

I guess he forgets about the loyal customers like someone else wrote in another review. It's a shame, I liked going here. Called him to make an appointment and he gave me outrageous prices on things that I have done with him before and then told me he's never gone below those prices. Annoying, just another business to me now. Time to move on... He's still a decent tailor but be warned from a once loyal customer.

Gustavo is a recognized taylor! His work is amazing. Thats why its Sofia Vergara's favorite.... I recommend him hands down!!

We've been coming to Gustovo's for a few years now. He's always professional, does a great job and is very reasonably priced. Make an appointment. It's best if he's expecting you.

I called Gustavo up to get an estimate on altering a suit. Flabbergasted, I asked, "How are your prices so cheap??" and he responded, "Well, you can pay me more if you would like; no problem!"

I took my suit over there on a Saturday morning (BUT beware that he only typically accepts customers via appointment on Saturdays), and was enthusiastic, professional, thorough, and quick. He has been in that location for more than 32 years and feels it's important to keep the prices fair while doing an excellent job and build up a loyal/personal customer base. If you care, he has some loyal celeb customers as well - John Travolta, Sofia Vergara, and some others that he wears on his walls with pride.

Gustavo is a busy guy but he made time for me when I called with a quick turn around wedding dress situation.  I had to wait about a week for an appointment with him but he fit me in and fixed my dress in two weeks!  I did call to remind him that I needed to come get the dress a few days later so if you are in a time crunch you may want to give him a reminder call.  His price to fix multiple things on my dress was very reasonable too!  Thanks Gustavo!

I was referred by a friend who wrote an amazing review so I decided to try him out. I spent $80 getting the sleeves taken in on 3 coats. On one of the coats the sleeves are not the same size. You would think that an expert tailor could match them up and make the right adjustments! I didn't take them back and will definitely not be going back. I was very disappointed.

I came to Gustavo on a girlfriend's recommendation and I am so happy I did! I needed a suit altered ASAP and he came through for me. Not only did he do standard alterations on the suit jacket, he also recommended some alterations for the skirt. He worked quickly and I am very happy with the quality of the work too. AND his prices are so reasonable I wonder how he makes any money!!! AND he is so sweet and helpful and makes sure he understands what and when you need. You will not regret coming here.

I highly recommend Gustavo for any of your tailoring needs. He does beautiful work at a VERY reasonable price. His shop is kinda small and there are clothes everywhere, but don't let that mislead you.  He did an excellent job on the bridesmaid dress I took to him. He's also very friendly. If I ever need another piece of clothing altered I will definitely take it to him.
