Fried Chicken fans rejoice!! We no longer need to rely on supermarket chicken that's been sitting out for a while because Gus's cooks their chicken to order.
Bored of Popeye's being the only chain that sells spicy chicken? Try Gus's! It'll have that nice kick without overpowering your mouth.
Want tasty sides? Try the potato salad! It's a mix of egg salad and potato salad...creamy and very very tasty.
Want a "small" side of fries, a la Five Guy's? Gus's will serve you a small mountain Fuji of freshly made thick fries. They also have a really good selection of alcoholic and non-alch drinks.
Am Iassociated with this restaurant? Not at all. My reason for this review is completely selfish: I'm a fried chicken lover who's very impressed with this place and wants to see it stay in business so I can continue to have one in my area. That's all. Now you go and try it for yourself.

Gus's is an unpretentious luxury with friendly service and most importantly, awesome fried chicken. Maybe you wouldn't call this strip mall restaurant a luxury by appearance, but when something is so good I have to restrain myself from going, it's a luxury to me. I seriously cannot afford the calories but I can't help myself. So much flavor, so perfectly executed. This chicken is sublime. The sides are mostly mediocre, with the exception of fried pickles and okra which are the standouts for me. My dining companions did rave about the potato salad, however.

On my last visit I tried the chicken sandwich. It was fantastic. But my favorite thing is ordering the 20-piece snack and bringing it home for a family dinner. Gus's is absolutely one of my favorite joints in this town.

Look, it has been quite a while since I came here, and I can say the quality has stayed consistent. This place is "world famous" for a reason! The chicken is the best in the city, to say the least (and it doesn't come with the baggage. Some other places have *cough* chick-fil-a hates equality *cough* )

Anyway, i recommend this place to everyone. It's laid back. The service has always been great, and as a casual dining place, you can't get much better than this.

If you haven't been, do so you won't regret it.

I was pleasantly surprised how good this place was. My favorite was their appetizer the fried green Tomatoes, fried okra and fried pickle were SOOO GOOD. The chicken is a little spicy but I love spicy so it's perfect and their pecan pie and ice cream is seriously a must. It tasted home made. Overall very good and I will def be going back

I've been a loyal customer since they've come to KC in 2016. It's my husband and I's favorite restaurant. We come here at least once a month. I first discovered Gus's at their original location in Memphis and was blown away. Until Gus's, I didn't do spicy. Some would argue that Gus's isn't "spicy", but for those sensitive like me, there is a kick. My favorite way to eat Gus's is with a side of their ranch. My husband on the other hand loves a little bit of a ranch with a little bit of hot sauce. I recently (in the last year) tried their chess pie and 10/10 recommend! Ugh, writing this review has me craving Gus's this weekend. Also, we love their patio when it's nice outside!

Imagine the surprise of a guy who lives in Memphis stumbling on a Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken in Kansas. So, I had to give it a try.

Good and fast service. WOW, the chicken just like I experience back in Memphis. This location was busy with dine-in and to-go customers. Obviously, it is VERY Popular!

Just go eat here. Great friendly service and delicious food. You'll be happy ya did!

Let's keep this short-ish. Dam solid fried chicken. Super nice server and attentive. The chicken breast was moist and that exterior skin was freaking tasty/crispy. They do let you know that on a scale from 1-10 on spiciness its like 4-5. Agree on that. Mac n cheese and fries were average .

Totally would return to this place.

Came here while in KC for March madness and I'm glad I did! This was some of the best fried chicken I've had in my life. The skin was perfectly crispy, it came out hot and fresh. The flavor was so good you really didn't even need hot sauce. We got Mac n cheese, fries , and beans for our sides. The sweet tea was homemade and great as well. Our waiter was great as well he made sure we had everything we needed and was quick.

Overall this is probably top 3 fried chicken I've had along with Roscoes and Amy Ruth's. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for great fresh fried chicken!
