I love this Guppy Tea House because it's really close to where I live. Also another benefit of this place is the fact that it's one of the places that is open late in the area...seeing how most everything in orange county closes super early...this place is the usual meeting place or go to place if my friends and i need someplace to go to.

The food here is only okay...there are some dishes that i really like...such as the seafood udon...or the popcorn chicken noodle soup...those are staples...they're not the best ever but they're pretty damn good!

Their drinks aren't bad either...and they're pretty good about fixing the drink if it's not quite what you want. I really like their strawberries and creme drink which is usually pretty good or my sister gets the milk tea...overall they're nothing super special but...when you compare it to the food in the general vicinity it's pretty damn awesome!

All in all this guppy tea house is the best why? BECAUSE YOU NEVER HAVE TO WAIT like the other locations...it's funny all the other ones are always super packed...but there are open seats...but this place...usually you can get seated right away...unless you have a crazy huge party..and even then they can usually seat you almost right away!

Their food comes out pretty quickly...just don't expect TOO much.

Overall i'm giving them such high ratings because in comparison to the other locations it's the BEST because of its vicinity to me...and the fact that i can always get seated whenever i go!

The place with the most annoying servers. The boys stutter, spill, make mistakes on orders, are nowhere to be seen, and at times too readily available, all-up-on-your-face style. Last time I went, three different servers asked us if everything was okay, all in the span of 10 minutes. The time before that, we asked for a napkin and we just never got one. the whole time. period. We just ate with the boba spill chilling on our table.

It's partly our fault for visiting a high school late-night hangout. But hey, there aren't too many Asian joints near my parents house.  I really like the food, especially their pineapple fried rice, popcorn chicken, coconut brick toast, and boba, but everything is so MSG-ed out I feel gross after. If they were more health-conscious and hired normal servers with experience, I would come here more frequently.

Cerritos branch is better by far.

p.s. their shaved ice is good with all the condensed milk junk, but I get sick after eating few bites.

    This place is alright.

If you're here in quest of good Taiwanese food, you are not in the right place. But if you're here to just hang out and you don't mind eating okay food, then why not come here?

The food here isn't that great. Its very easy to make. But often times the people who cook the food are careless with it. They don't show it much love. Its just a "make it and serve it" kind of thing. Like their popcorn chicken, its alright but you know you've had a lot better. Its very crunchy, and the spice seasoning that they use would be from that of a cup noodle seasoning packet. They do give you decent amount though, enough to fill you up like 2/3. But in my opinion, its not worth the price for the quality that they're putting it out at. The desserts and drinks aren't bad though! I would give four stars for those. The shaved ice and brick toast are never bad options. They're always big and full of stuff. Its nothing special, but the ingredients speak for themselves and deliver the flavor that enough to satisfy you. The shaved ice is huge though, so be sure to come with a big party! The brick toast is pretty freaking sweet too. Its toasted nicely and its not dry at all. It has the right texture and its never too sweet. The drinks aren't the best, I've had better, but if you're in the Orange or Anaheim Hills area and you want some boba, this is the spot.

If you're here to just socialize or have a late night eat with your buddies and all that, this place definitely isn't a bad choice. I would say the age group that eats here is pretty young. The age range is definitely meant for people from 16 - 27. So if you come with family with your mom and dad and all that, it might be a bit awkward. The money you pay, a majority of it definitely goes to the ambiance.

I would recommend the Guppies in Irvine. The food quality is definitely a lot better.

I love Guppy, but we found the employees at this particular location were very rude. Other than that, I recommend this place.  All of their teas and bobas are yummy. I got grapefruit green tea w/jello this time. I highly recommend the obvious staples you will notice on most peoples tables: shave ice and brick toast. Shave ice is just what it sounds like, a pile of shaved ice.  What makes it amazing is it is then covered in fresh fruit and condensed milk. Amazing! The brick toast, again as it sounds, is a fat piece of toast the size of a brick. They all have a sugary butter on top, though there are several flavors. Definitely worth the visit!

We came in and ordered to go a very simple order:

    1 Thai tea with boba
1 Coconut Milk tea with boba
    1 Gyoza appetizer

We got the drinks pretty quickly and they were ok (nothing I'd crave).  The Coconut Milk tea was pretty un-sweet, but I liked it!

However... 5 minutes go by, 10 minutes go by, 15 minutes go by... no gyoza.  I ask the guy if he knew if they were ready yet, so he goes to the back into the kitchen and comes out saying, "Oh, I'm sorry, it's gonna be another 10 minutes!"

WTF? THAT MEANS THEY HADN'T EVEN STARTED THEM! And sorry, but there was only one other order before us and they were long gone with their food.

I said, "No, I can't wait, sorry!" In efforts not to lose the sale, they guy said, "Ok, 2 minutes, give us 2 minutes!" I said, "No, thanks."

What on earth were they gonna do in 2 minutes for something that takes 10 minutes to cook?....

I got my money back, and safe to say, we won't be going back.

    Shaved ice!

I know I know. I can get shaved ice anywhere. I can make it at home if I wanna. But I really do like the shaved ice at Guppy's. We got the combo of shaved ice (small- red bean and strawberry topped with ice cream) http://www.yelp.com/bi..., coconut brick toast http://www.yelp.com/bi..., and popcorn chicken http://www.yelp.com/bi.... The strawberries were sweet and I always love me some red bean anything. Unlike other Guppy's, the brick toast did not have an overload of sugar, which was good. As always, the popcorn chicken was good and crispy.

However, the downfall of this place is that the curry chicken http://www.yelp.com/bi... is no bueno. It's more of a gooey texture if anything which is a big no no. Also, service could be better. It took them a while to refill our waters for instance.

Parking: just a parking lot with no problemos.

What?! Haven't reviewed this place? I thought I'd just be updating right now...

Anyway, first came here 6 years ago with a girlfriend and her boyfriend and me hubby.

I loved the creative twist on the peanut butter jelly sandwich affectionately known as "the brick." My husband kept saying "I could do that at home." Well, duh, the point is they're doing comfort foods in a modern and new way! We could do it but we didn't come up with the idea ourselves.

The fresh fruit drizzled with condensed milk was vry good too. You can imagine what hubby said.

    The rose tea was excellente!

    Apparently, they remain the same.

    And parking still sucks.

Hey you guys remember when this used to the the "Wherehouse Music Store"?

Terrible service . I go here so often love the food but cannot stand the service. We had a unit luncheon and we waited 50 mins plus yet we still didn't have all of our foods. We got two meals that we ordered from 6 of us. The waiter also spilled hot soup on one of my co workers' lab. He even tried to charge us from the three boba drinks we had. My co worker, the one who was badly injured had to make some sense into him. Im not coming back to guppy house anymore.

Went to eat here during a trip to Socal, loved it!
I got the porkchops (which were so good!) and also the shaved ice dessert (w/ bananas and strawberries, extra condensed milk) and the chocolate brick bread. The dessert portions were HUGE, you have to share!  Absolutely worth it, the service was fantastic and the wait was not long.

Late-night hangout. This is my late-night hangout.

Okay, I love this place because I take it for what it is: a place where you can just have a meal, a drink, or a snack with a friend. Like a cafe without any French pretentiousness and all the Asian noir flavor and sensibilities. Wow, that made my head hurt.

Start off with the drink that prove the gods exist and wants us to be happy: Almond Rose Milk Tea. This thing is DIVINE. Love love love this thing. Oh, and to think I tried this on a lark!

Proceed to the appetizer: Popcorn Chicken! OMFG. This is PDG (pretty damn good). Drizzle it with sweet 'n sour sauce and you got a mighty fine crowd pleaser.

Now, just remember that you can get a full meal here. The asian cuisine dictates fish or seafood, beef, chicken or pork dishes, noodles and rice as carbs. This will include any permutations of the above. I am not a statistician, so don't ask me how many. Just grab a menu instead before you complain, okay?

Oh dessert. I CANNOT begin to tell you how BIG this place is on desserts. You can make them comfort food snacks if you had a bad day having to listen to customers complain at your work. They have fruit bowls as big as your head (or larger). Strawberries, mangos, bananas over heaping bowls of ice, drizzled all over with condensed milk. I cannot fathom how someone, ANYONE, could finish these monstrosities that can easily send even the healthiest person into a sugar overload! But yes, they are good! Be warned, even a small isn't really small. Ask how big they are BEFORE you order.

I never come here when the sun is up. The night crew is polite, friendly and very attentive, especially Rory, the night manager that I see all the time and, quite frankly, is tired of seeing me and my friends LOL.

Love love love this place. Almond Rose Milk tea time is ANYTIME!

I had the lunch special at Ten Ren on Atlantic in SGV. I was craving me some Taiwanese style chicken with basil and beef stew. Most of all, I was craving toast!

I know this Guppy House is not the best location. I have been here many times. So, how could you go wrong with toast? It was burnt. Burnt toast with aok peanut butter and not so good strawberry.

I always come here because there is no other place close by. I wont come anymore.

This place needs a remodel bad.

Not a fan and not AOK with me anymore.

So...what happens when you have a group of 12 people...in a city an hour away from home...and all hungry?  Also, you know about this great restaurant (you've heard about) in the same city as your party?!  Yup, you come here and everyone agrees to almost order something different so we can all taste the cuisine.  Woohoo...can you say TEAMWORK?! SCORE!  LOL

Came here around 4:30 (yesterday, Saturday) and there was hardly any people here.  That's great!  So, we ordered to our little hearts content (literally) and were completely stuffed.  So here's the run down...I tried almost everything.  Seriously, no joke!

    DRINKS:
    - Lavender Milk Tea: So awesomely aromatic with a unique taste all it's own.
    - Almond Milk Tea: Oh, so nice with a nice light nutty sweet taste.
    - Red Milk Tea: I have no idea what "red" is but it was great.
    - Espresso Milk Tea: Oooh, nice! I love the great coffee taste.
    - Thai Iced Tea

ALL with tapioca! Their tapioca (AKA boba) are the most softest that I've ever had and their smaller than the usual ones you get at other places, but that's where I fell in love.  See...a good first impression can make a difference. LOL

    FOOD:
    - Kimchi Fried Rice: Wow, I've never been a huge fan of kimchi but the spice and all the elements just worked.  My friend added some eggs over easy in addition.  Yum!  Portion is huge!
    - Ham Fried Rice: It taste like something you can make at home but it was still yummy.  Again, huge portion.
    - Spicy Popcorn Chicken: Wow, the spice will hit you (like a baseball bat! LOL) and it's very peppery but it was still good.
    - Popcorn Chicken w/ no spice (Yup, for the wussies! HAHA): was still flavorful all on its own
    - Medium Spicy Popcorn Chicken with Noodles - Oooh! it's a nice little kick on the chicken and the broth on the noodles was sooo yummy! (Note: not served together, served separately.)
    - Pork with rice: OMG!  Soo good but I kind felt that some eggs over easy would've put these over the top.  YUM!

After trying all that my order came...grilled salmon.  Mine took the longest to make.  On the menu it says it will take 15 mins, but it took a little longer.  Luckily, I got to taste everyone elses food.  I had to make sure there was no poison.  LOL  Okay, but on the real...mine was good but the portion is really tiny.  I didn't feel it was worth the price $14.99. They give you a small piece of fish but fill this enormous plate with sides - rice, lettuce (yah, it was just lettuce) salad, and potato salad (wasn't feeling the raisins in it).

Still, we had to have DESSERT. Who knows when we'll be back?!  So, we had to get their signature stuff...
    - Double Brick Toast Combo: Chocolate Toast and Coconut Toast served with strawberries, banana, and whip cream.  It was really yummy!  Although, I'm not a huge coconut fan, I felt like it was a lot better than the chocolate.  I think we should've ordered this with ice cream.  I must try next time!  :)
    - Strawberry Pineapple Shaved Ice: We had to order the small for our group and we still couldn't finish it.  Probably because we already full!  LOL  Yup, we are heifers. It was good but you can honestly make this at home.  It's shaved ice with fruit and condensed milk drizzled all over it. It served about 8-10 of their little bowls.

Thanks to our server, Dana, for being so patient with our big ass group.  She did an awesome job of making recomendations and accomodating our demands.  LOL

BOY, I had a lot to say!  Didn't i?!?!  Anyways, all in all...I would come back.  Anyone want to drive me to this location, or any of the the other 5 locations?  We can share a brick toast.  My treat!  You fly, I buy!

This is the a place for drinks, desserts, and appetizers!   It is a total hangout kind of place with loads of seating inside and out.  (Plus, it is open late)  They have every cold fruit boba type of drink and every hot tea sweet cream drink too.  For dessert, hands down, love the brick toast with ice cream!  A close second is the shaved ice with a wide variety of fruits available.  Be warned this is a share with a group of people sized treat.  As far as sustenance goes, popcorn chicken is the way.  Everything else is okay.  Like I said, it is a drinks, dessert and appetizer kind of place.

WOW!  I really enjoyed this place!

    Chicken Wings:
There were 8 in the order and came with carrots and celery.  I didn't eat the veggies because they appeared a little old.  The brown edges gave it away.  The wings however were super crispy and tasty.  I'm not completely sure, but I thought there might be some Chinese  Five-Spice added.

    Appetizer Sampler:
This was huge...and I mean huge.  But this place is known for going large on food and desserts.   The HomeFries were crispy and crunchy, just the way the GF like it.  I think there was more of that spice on them.  Spinach and Mixed Greens salad was okay.  I was more interested in the meat.  The Chicken Cutlet was marvelous, but thin.  The dipping sauces were paired nicely with this, as well as the last item on the sampler.....the Popcorn Chicken.  It was good, not great.  I would have been more impressed if they used white meat as opposed to thigh meat.  I opted for level 2 out of 5 on the spicy side.  It was not really spicy, just warm.  I'd go 4 next time.

    KimChee Dumplings:
These were really good and surprisingly the best value.  There were 10 dumplings filled with KimChee mixed with pork.  They came with a vinegar sauce and a soy sauce.  I dunked the dumplings in both sauces and stuffed my mouth.....who wouldn't?!

    Fried Rice with Ham:
Simply Wonderful!!  Full of quality ingredients and flavor.  I loved this dish and it was easily my favorite of all the dishes I tried.  There was koko on the side.....a wonderful touch :)

Double Toast with Fruit:  Gain a few pounds just by viewing my photo.

Check out the photo of my dishes and you'll see why this place received 4 stars.  The minus star was for the thigh meat in the Popcorn Chicken.

    It's a love and hate with Guppy's.

Honestly, I only go here for their Salmon Fried Rice that doesn't have a whole lot of salmon but the entree size is tremendously huge! You can share the plate definitely.

The drinks are decent, my favorite one is Passion Strawberry, it's not thick, so not like a slushy, wish it was. But very watery. The boba tastes funny sometimes.

It's kind of expensive for my taste, and the quality isn't that great. Service sort of sucks sometimes, depends what time you go. They're always busy that's why.

The shaved ice is really worth your buck. Some of the fruits like super ripe when they serve that, especially mangoes

Came here yesterday since I was near my house and in need of a boba fix. Entered the restaurant and was greeted by a big smile of the only worker around...Place was pretty empty for a Tuesday late afternoon but I put that aside since I knew this place was probably more of a late night eatery for my drunken peers.

Checked out the menu and with a little advice from the cashier I decided on the red milk tea with red beans with less sugar added.
Order ready in about 3 minutes since I was getting specialty lone customer treatment.

First taste was really good...red milk tea was BOMB, reallllllly good. Seriously, my new favorite. However, one thing that definitely won't be making my favorite list was the red beans chilling at the bottom of my drink. They added a nice flavor and sweetness but the texture was something I couldn't get past. Gritty and coated my mouth.

I will be going back soon for the red milk tea but I will be changing the red bean for boba instead. Hope the change will result in 5 stars next time...until next time Yelpers :)

Guppy Tea House you make me soo sooo very happy. You are there to curb my Lavender Milk Tea boba cravings along with making my tummy happy with your popcorn chicken!!
If there is still room then the Strawberry Jam Blast shaved ice is the best to share!

This location was a little slow with their service, we were greeted and seated right away but kind of forgotton about by our waitress. She finally came by to drop off a water pitcher and to take our drink orders.
When our drinks were delivered, our food order was taken.
Our food was pretty delish, and we were able to relax and enjoy our late lunch. Prices are not bad here, if your not in a total rush then this is the place for you!

I really don't like Guppy's. Actually, I'm just over it (high school hype), but every single time friends want to meet up, Guppy's is suggested without fail. I think this place is everyone's favorite because of the cheap prices and humongous portions. I've only been to the Cerritos location before, but from the food to the atmosphere, this one is EXACTLY the same.

DECOR/ATMOSPHERE: There's a number of Guppy House locations, but from what I can assume from the Anaheim location, the decor at each location is ridiculously the same. I don't understand why Guppy's doesn't attempt to change the decor. It seems like 30 different people wanted to decorate the restaurant, and couldn't come to an agreement. My friend said it best when she said it looks like a Chinese 'jungle' inside. There are fish tanks on the wall, stuffed parrots hanging from the wall, individually wrapped dried roses in a bouquet stapled onto the wall, random plants, random 'pictures' on the wall...it doesn't end here. It looks 'low-budget' but I think it would've been better to just paint the walls, and not put anything on them.

SERVICE: The service at the Cerritos location is MUCH better than here. The waitress came over like once or twice to get our orders and check up on us. It wasn't even busy; I think there were only like 4 different parties here. She didn't come by to collect the plates and give us the check. We waited for a long time, and just ended up going to the register and paying...

FOOD: The portions here are HUGE. The popcorn chicken here isn't the best; there's a lot of 'fat'. But it's edible. I was hungry so I got the popcorn chicken with rice. Maybe it's because my friends and I came here late at night, but the to-go shaved ice was the size of the small! We were able to share this with five people and still have leftovers and be full. At the Cerritos location, I've tried all variations of popcorn chicken (rice, salad, etc. w/mild, medium, spicy.) I recommend spicy. The chicken cutlet, pork cutlet, hawaiian fried rice, beef stew noodle, butter coconut brick toast, shaved ice (strawberry, mixed fruit), milk tea are all decent. I would definitely recommend getting the special (popcorn chicken, brick toast, and shaved ice) if you're here with a group of people. It really is a good deal!

I recommend going somewhere else for food and drinks, but if you have to come here, get the small guppy special.

The food here is decent, but you can get better tasting Taiwanese food elsewhere. Also, don't come here for boba.

If you're going to come here, the thing you should get is their brick toast with ice cream. Talk about gluttonous deliciousness! And their shaved ice is perfect for eating and socializing with friends since the portions are HUGE and sells for CHEAP. Oh, and their popcorn chicken is pretty good too!

The place is a little small, but it's never incredibly crowded or suffocating. The music they play is good and very "I want to steal this playlist" worthy. The decorations are colorful and cute. I understand why teenagers like to hang around there. Although the food isn't all that great, it's a good place to socialize and eat desserts and popcorn chicken.

Went in, sat down, made our order... Waited... Waited... Waited... For about 20 minutes. Then a waitress finally comes back and tells us she will check our order. Turns out our waiter never put in order.

That's not even what upset us! She recommended we leave because "it's gonna be a long wait" because out order will have to come after a huge group that just ordered, a group that came in AFTER us. I know it wouldn't be too difficult to start our order first but whatever.

And I know we werent the only ones upset. The tables around us were getting impatient also. Ridiculous!

Service here definitely gotten better since my last review. The really smiley waiter, David, is super friendly and very welcoming when you walk in. The food comes out piping hot and desserts seem to taste better at this particular location. Although this location is 25 minutes further than the Rowland Heights location (since I'm from sgv), I'd actually rather drive further just for this location.

The Kimchi Fried Rice is DEFINITELY worth the trip. I don't kno what they put differently in here (aside from the Kim aka roasted seaweed/Nori), but it DEFINITELY tastes amazing. The Rowland Heights one isn't as good here.

And the Cocunut Brick Toast actually isn't as overly sweet here, than other locations, so I actually was able to enjoy it.

P.S. There's actually no "Guppy's" wifi that I am aware of, but there's some "gamer zone" or whatever that you can leak free wifi from :]

I heard horror stories about the terrible service this place has, but I must have been lucky this night. After chowing down on some Kogi Truck tacos, we had a hankering for something sweet, and though my friends were very hesitant to come here, we did. Started off with a nice Thai tea/boba. I wished i had sked for this blended (not sure if they would have) but I very please with the taste, reminded me of many a good Thai Ice teas at Thai Patio.

We also shared a butter coconut toast, and can I say yum!? Hardly your ordinary piece of toast. Butter, coconut, and chocolate all on a Paul Bunyon sized piece of toast - what's not to like. We also had a shaved ice, but I must admit that a giant, and I do mean giant, bowl of ice with some fruit on top was not exactly what i was craving, but my friends seem to enjoy it. Overall, considering it was midnight, I'd suggest you give the place one more try, or a first try, and have yourself a tasty midnight snack.

Really bad service! Food was salty & gloppy... people, there's an obesity crisis going on. Why must everything on this menu be FRIED??? My poor kid asked for something really simple and the server was clearly clueless on how to take a food order from a kid. Hint: be nice about it! Totally bummed because I read good reviews and it's close to the house, but big thumbs down.

I've been to the Guppy House in Irvine and what I like about this place is that I can actually sit and eat instead of ordering something quick and trying to find a place to sit at.
This Guppy House location has plenty of places for seating and has an interesting feel to it.  The decor reminds me of one of my aunt's homes ... it was filled with a lot of plants.  I looked on the the walls and they had random fish floating around an isolated aquarium.  After awhile I thought I was in an aquarium, which I didn't mind btw...it was a guppy house after all.
I ordered the popcorn chicken which was deelish...I should've taken it easy on the medium spice though cause it burned my tongue and I downed the water pitcher quickly.  Still...that damned popcorn chicken was great.

I came to Guppy House a little over a year ago for some taro slushie boba.  It tasted pretty bad. :( I had to trash it. So I told myself that I would not go back ever again...

Until I started reading reviews about this Brick toast... (although I have yet to try it!)  I just decided to try them out again- just for their boba and popcorn chicken.

    OK lemme start off with:
DUDE. Your service is so- slow. Right when I got there I checked in, of course. My bf makes fun of me and always asks: "DID YOU CHECK IN?!" We got our boba drinks first...  then waited patiently for our popcorn chicken.  *taps feet*

The waiters were running around like mad men! Condensed milk dripping from the shave ice.... YUMMMM!!!!!!!!!!! haha
I wanted to see how long we waited so I checked my "Check ins" and it said that I checked in 20 minutes ago.  WAH. I know it takes awhile to cook it but damn.

We should have just ate it there because by the time we got home the steam made it soggy. BOO.

The next time I come back I'm going to try the Coconut Brick Toast.

Food is GOOD - Portions are HUGE - cheap, getting ur order takes a little bit of a wait, but it's worth it.
The boba isn't that great - but that isn't there specialty - the male server that is there is pretty not so friendly =/ but the FOOD makes up for it -
    double O combo cheers!

I recently discovered how much I like their red milk tea with boba.  You can request for less sugar, which I usually do at boba places.  Their tea is unusually creamy (but you can really taste the tea!), and is a refreshing change from the typical milk teas out there.  Now I don't know if it's a marketing ploy by calling it "red milk tea" but I like it, and I've been convinced.  Oh, I am also in love with the dark chocolate brick toast, but I can't remember if this location has it too (I've only had it at the Cerritos location).

Also, my best friend and I come out here once in awhile for shaved ice when we are too lazy to drive to Rowland Heights for some Class 302 amazing-life-changing snow thing or to Garden Grove's special green tea shaved ice from Cafe-T.  Guppy House has average shaved ice, with probably way too much ice compared to fruit and goodies ratio, but you can't go wrong ordering it.

One note though: If you aren't into kids or waiting long, try to avoid the 3pm - 6pm slot.  This is a hang out zone for the tweens and teens around those times, and service gets scant/stretched out.  At one point, I was waiting for quite awhile (no line) to order to-go while one server-and-cashier-in-one was taking care of the entire place.  After I ordered, and only after the poor girl finished taking orders for everyone and started on people's drinks, did the other employee's get up after their well timed lunch break (yes, all four of them at once) to help her out.  I think only one other person was on duty though, the others just stayed back to eat together then bailed when the lunch break employee went back to work.  Not necessarily the high service image you want to show from a franchise operation, but there wasn't an on-duty supervisor (or at least s/he lacked a presence during that time) so I can't really expect people to do a stellar job every moment.

Whenever I'm in SoCal and get the chance, I love going to Guppy's! It's a great place to meet up and chat with an old friend over a fruit bowl and shave ice. Deeeeelish!

PS. GREAT value too! The portions are HUGE and for a surprisingly low price!

My experiences at the Guppy's in Cerritos were pretty decent, so I was pretty happy that one had opened up around my area. It wasn't as good as I'd expected, though. The shaved ice was pretty good, lots of fruit and condensed milk. The portions are huge, a small will easily feed 4. But the to-go packs aren't so great unless you get home right away and pour it out in a big bowl. The cups were tall and it was hard to get a good balance of ice, milk, and fruit in one spoonful with the way it was packed.

The food servings are large but they're nothing all that great in terms of taste or preparation.

The boba was disappointing. It was flavorless and overcooked; just kind of broke apart in my mouth. blegh.. The tea didn't taste like real tea, either. Tea concentrate? It seems like a lot of places use this instead of real leaves. They charge higher end prices for sub-par drinks.

Overall, I don't know if I'd come back here. There are better options elsewhere.

I have to admit this Guppy House gets a lot of hate, but to be honest I like this one. The reason why the stars isn't high though is because the atmosphere seems to be a lot slower than the others, which is up to whoever is reading this to interpret. I really like the service here because it's always quick and spot on. The things to get at Guppy whether here or at any of the other location is the fried rice ($8/ $10-$12 for those that aren't just plain), popcorn chicken, brick toast, and shaved ice. Good thing though that you can get the appetizer sampler plate which can feed up to 4 for $17 bucks which includes chicken strips, pop corn chicken, fries, and salad or for 20 bucks you get a small shaved ice (trust me the small is ridiculously huge, feeds up to like 6.), popcorn chicken, and brick toast. I've been to those Guppy House like 5 times so I've gotten to grow fond of it. Come and check it out.

Been coming here a few times over the past 2-3 years, there service is quite a disappointment sometimes, maybe cause some waiters/waitresses are hs students.  Its a hit or miss, kinda thing.  Sometimes you won't have anybody attend to you for the longest time and sometimes they come to you all the time... I just don't know.

The drinks here are not that great, all my friends agree with me too.  I think the cerritos one (orginal) is WAYYY better, if my memory is correct.

Popcorn chicken- sometimes wayy too fried and hard...

Pineapple fried rice- is pretty dang good though, hasn't disappointed me yet!

    Coconut Brick Toast- good.

Shaved ice- pretty good, as well. extra condense milk!

All in all, I try not to come here, but its the only place around this area if you want to talk and chill because its open after 10pm weekdays!

I came here to get the food to go around dinner time. The food came out at a reasonable amount of time, I want to say it took about 15 minutes to get ready. What was bad was seeing 3 tables full of dirty plates on this part of the restaurant leading to the bathroom. It was a little disconcerting to see that. Granted there are still tables available for us to sit down if we had chosen to dine in, but still.
I got (surprise!) popcorn chicken with rice. While I'm very happy that the portion is big enough I can split it into 2 meals, I have to say the chicken didn't taste as good as what I've had at the Irvine Guppy House. I'm just hoping this is just a one-time thing and next time I get over there, there won't be dirty dishes filling up every table.

Food: 3.5 stars (Udon 3 stars, shaved ice 4 stars)
    Service: 4 stars

I've been hearing a lot about the Taiwanese shaved ice in Socal, so on a recent trip, my traveling partner and I decided we had to try this place.

We were about to walk in right before 11AM. It was 10:58AM, and the waiter said she couldn't let us in, I guess two minutes makes a big difference?

Because we still had a long day ahead of us, we decided that we should get some real food and then get the shaved ice. We got a seafood udon to share. All the seafood inside the udon got over cooked (mussle, shrimp, etc). There were little side dishes that came with the udon so we could add it to our soup.

Shaved ice. Now this is the best part and the real reason we came here. We decided to be safe and go with strawberry shaved ice. We were about the get the small, but the waiter told us that we should probably get the to go size since the small is normally for four people. We couldn't even finish the to go size.

The mountain of strawberry jam shaved ice(?) or a name close to that, arrived and we were shocked at how big it was. There were a lot of freshly cut strawberries, and since we got the strawberry jam one, there were the preserved strawberries that are really sweet. Added with the condensed milk, it was really good. But if there wasn't enough ice in the spoonful I ate, it would be way too sweet.

Overall it was a good experience, but if I lived near a Guppy's, and I come here again, I'll have to pick carefully because of the sweetness.

    2nd review:

I came in with my 2nd uncle last night an hour before closing and i was greeted by a korean guy named Joe, he seemed super upbeat, especially for someone working at 11pm.  His hyperness instantly gave off a really good vibe to the place, he seemed perfect to be working there.  I caught him dancing around, I hope he's there next visit haha.  My favorite employee Rory was there, too :) he's awesome.  He looked like he was doing a great job taking care of the place and helping his other co-workeers.  I swear he should become manager haha.  I tried the fried riceball mochi.  It's an interesting and different appetizer, the Irvine location does not carry this item.  All of the employees were constantly on top of things and were always checking up on us making sure we were ok and if everything tasted alright.  My uncle thought the neon lights outside were cool. This spot is def a laid back hang out place.  I recommend it  for any occasion.  This Guppies must have really upped their game since the past reviews.  Good job Guppies!
