Ahhh...Guido's...I'm hankering for a slice of their Basil pizza just thinking about 'em. Seriously good pizza! They offer pizza by the slice (or you can order a whole pie) at reasonable prices (between 1.80-2.05/slice depending on what you order).
What I'm not crazy about: Their crust. It's a bit inconsistent and a little too crunchy at times (I like to fold NY pizza in half...it's just wrong if the crust is too crispy!). Plus, they don't take debit/credit, which is a little annoying---but there is a ATM nearby and they do take checks.
What I like: Their location (right next door to my favorite coffee house? Pizza for dinner and a little coffee and dessert next door at the M...fabulous!). Their toppings are great (not too much cheese...plus fresh basil--yum!). Their sauce is fabulous. And, their service has been great every time I've been there (They don't seem to have a reputation for great service, but I have to say I've always had good luck--the last time I was there, my server threw in an extra slice for free and another worker gave me wine recommendations...they were seriously awesome!).
What I love: The fact that they serve wine! It's the one thing I always find lacking at another NY style pizzeria in town. Also, their pizza by the slice variety--they offer 4 types on a daily basis (Guido's original, Basil, Vegetarian, or Pepperoni) plus a random slice of the day.
Overall: Really fabulous pizza. Great prices. Good service. Wine.
Need I say more?
Love this pizza.
Great cheap NYC pizza. This is where we go for a quick slice, and the other slice places can't compete. Basil's especially good. Somebody said the staff's surly. No way! That's part of NYC pizza service!
Best pizza in Boise, great bargain. There isn't much seating at either location- but there is some limited seating outside downtown. On average, a large pizza is about $12, and it is about two feet across. It's thin crust, so there isn't a ton there, but it will feed three people pretty easiy. Get the the white pizza (sundried tomato, basil, cheese), and order a side of roasted garlic dressing. Start dipping, and you are in the middle of possibly the best pizza experience you will ever have. By the way- bring cash- they don't take cards.
Best NY pizza in Boise. A few of the staff can be a bit surly at times, though I guess that just makes it feel even more NY. The crust tends to be better on weekdays than weekends.
This is my favorite "cheap" pizza. I like the basic east coast vibe. Reminds me of the good times in Providence. The spinach salad with the creamy garlic dressing is really popular.
For a guy who doesn't like thin crust pizza, I thought this place was pretty good.
Definitely a cheap place to go for lunch - they have maybe five types of pizza by the slice - cheese or basil for $1.80 a slice and pepperoni, veggie or the pizza of the day for $2.05. The slices are huge and the toppings aren't bad - I got today's special which was garlic, green bell peppers, red onions, and olives. It was awesome - even the dough was good. I'd definitely drop by again for lunch - nice, fast, inexpensive.
Might have to try this place at night, too...
This is my favorite pizza place in Boise. I hit up both locations! I'm an East Coaster and this really hits the spot.
In my opinion, this is the BEST New York Style pizza (at least in Boise OR the entire state of Idaho OR the Pacific Northwest OR the West Coast OR west of the Rocky Mountains OR hell...why not outside of New York?)!! The crust is sometimes a little TOO thin...so thin that you'll occasionally find a hole in your pizza, but there are no other complaints here.
Boise is lucky to have Guido's!
I am shocked, simply shocked that Guido's only has two prior reviews to mine! This place is so good that it will be the first place I stop after my flight touches down!
The food is AMAZING, the atmosphere is great and the prices are decent. Stop eating Papa John's or Pizza Hut, that's crap pizza! Eat Guido's because oddly enough, you will be eating true New York style pizza in Idaho.
ps: GO VANDALS!
BTW: it is cash and check only, but there is a Wells Fargo ATM right next door, so order your pie then grab some cash!
If you're having an unstoppable craving for New York style pizza in Idaho, of all places, Guido's is about the best you'll be able to do. Expect thin crust pizza sold by the slice (about $1.50) with sauce on the sweet side and not too much cheese. You can also order soda, wine or beer from servers who are in a perpetual NY-style hurry. Keep an eye out for the totally random NY-sports-team themed wall decorations.
Hands down, the best pizza in Boise. A little greasy, but that is how NY style pizza is supposed to be.
great thin-crust pizza place! i was visiting my cousins in boise and went here for lunch. its nice that they have slices, since not every place does. and it was super affordable for such awesome pizza!
and they say all idaho has are potatoes...
Guido's is terrific! Much better than the local yokels usual "Best of Boise" faves like Flying Pie.
I love stopping in for a quick bite and when I am kinda broke bcs it's very affordable, fast, hot and delicous. The staff is always friendly and the owner is a standup guy! I love my hot food really hot so I appreciate that each slice is specially heated up for me. They also have kickass salads and beer.
Great pizza! We had a taste off with Pie Hole and Guido's won hands down. Crust was perfect with that slight crisp then backed with tasty sauce. So many NY style pizza's try to achieve what Guido's does.
This place is the BEST for the original New York style pizza. Can you say delicious?? But be warned, if you do choose to eat here, you better have a big appatite cuz these pizzas (even the small ones) are freekin' HUGE!!
