This is another of my "addiction stores." And to make it worse, I used to work as a security at this location. So I would shop on my break.
There are numerous amazing bargains to be had, but I would not buy food from here at all. Clothes and other stuff, yes, but never food.
Every time I get the total at the register, I think to myself "that's it!?", as I walk away with a pile of bargains and more in my pocket than anticipated. Yup, there are a lot of really cheap items here, but you can tell that by looking at them. Come on people, if you see a candle that says "Ocean Haze" for $2, it's not gonna smell like a yankee candle.
But if you look carefully, you'll find amazing deals on brand names, and that's what you want to stick with. I'm not as psyched about "Bran Flakeys" as I would be genuine Cheerios, so I stick with what I know.
I only had one mildly negative experience here with a cashier who got nit-picky on me. I bought some sneakers and as she's ringing them up, she asked if I had the coupon from their flyer. I said no, and she told me it can be found online. Out of consideration (and not wanting to leave her to put them back) I told her I'll just go ahead and buy them, then come back with the coupon and exchange them. She said I can't do that.
Why can't I do that? I can't make a return, and then go shopping? Yes, I really can do that. Even if the store "doesn't let you", it's not illegal. I can have my husband return them if they're gonna be ridiculous about it. I just thought it was funny that she acted on such personal behalf for the store, whereas most people would say "just be careful, don't tell them what you're doing" or something to that effect.
Aside from that, I love this place. Cheap food, cheap furniture, a staple for my christmas shopping.
This place is like big lots but with legit stuff, not those cheesy nockoffs. They have everything you'll need, even video games which indeed are cheaper than target or walmart. Madden 2009 for the xbox 360 was only $15 and the ONLY reason I didn't buy it was because my girlfriend dragged me away from the electronics department. Wish I had more time to check out all the neat little things they have but it is legit.
Every time I visit my family in SD, I always have to stop by. I have purchased everything from Versace China a beautiful $250 Amethyst Necklace, Zip Lock Bags to $12 Kenneth Cole pants for my husband. They get a lot of Costco merch. that is open box or one-offs. Prices are excellent as a whole, but you still need to be smart.
GTM...Get That Money ? Bunch of really low quality stuff here. Buyer beware.
Its ok if you're bargain hunting or if you're shopping for someone that you really dont like.
I dont think I would buy food here. Canned or dry.
This place is great for bargain hunters. Selection varies WIDELY week to week as they get new shipments in from Costco, Macy's, and other retailers. Visit their website and sign up for their email list to get news on new shipments and coupons for the week's sales.
This is definitely a bargain hunters dream store. I have actually told my wife not to let me go to GTM for atleast 2months because I cant control myself. You can't go to GTM and expect to find a certain item, you have to have a broad view of what you want and go there. Because inventory is very random depending on what the truck brings from week to week. Plus they have coupons online and that helps to save big bucks.

I think a fellow yelper had the same dilemma I had- if I share this place with people, then my little secret will be out. Well, I'm all about the greater good, so I figured I gotta share this place with people.
GTM Discount General Stores is somewhat like a Big Lots. Now I know what you're thinking, why on earth am I getting so excited for a place that is being described similarly to a Big Lots. Well here's the deal- this place has great deals on just about everything- electronics, houseware, furniture, and CLOTHING. For real, they got the hook up on clothing. My wife and I got Lucky Brand Jeans for $20, Seven (brand) Jeans for $50, and Black Diamond (mountain gear) jackets for $15!! Definitely a great place for a bargain hunter, we have yet to go to this place and not leave with an amazing deal.
They don't have common items in stock, they just have trucks drop stuff off weekly, so each week is a new adventure. Plus they have coupons on their website where you can take an additional 30-50% off selected items. This place beats outlet prices! (Gosh, I feel like a car salesman all of a sudden:-P). Check out the specials online to see what they have in stock on any given weekend. You're guaranteed to find a deal.

GTM is great for all of us bargain hunter's out there. They have tons of stuff that is currently sold at Costco for less. Clothes, electronics, purses, shoes, housewares, outdoor furniture, rugs, hardware, greeting cards, books/music and a grocery section. They take all forms of payment and the staff is friendly. Nuff said!
