I've been going to Ground Zero for four years now and have gone to three of their locations - Manayunk, Queen Village, and Center City. Each has its own unique atmosphere, but overall, the quality remains consistent throughout. I prefer Center City because of its location and because the vibe is generally more relaxed, especially compared to Manayunk. The stylists are friendly and the owner is almost always there.
As a guy who detests clipper cuts, I've been able to find several hairdressers who have done excellent scissor cuts and who have listened to my needs and concerns each time. I highly recommend Dena.
I'm reluctant to give the fifth star because they recently raised their prices, but it's still fairly reasonable considering the prices other salons (not barber shops) charge in this city for men's haircuts.
Ground Zero Center City is a great place! Located inside the old Y on Arch Street - it really has a vibe that makes you feel comfortable while also receiving top notch service. Wendy & her staff really listen to you and give you exactly what you ask for. And if you don't know what you want, they will be sure to help you in getting a style that will work for you- so you could walk in not knowing what you want & walk out with a fantastic 'do that rocks! It's a plus to watch all the people working out at the gym while your getting your hair did because of the huge "fish bowl" window that faces the weight area of the gym (yum)!
