Groom is a very friendly place. My elderly greyhound has long toenails and needs a clipping at least 2x a month. I can walk in at any point in time dragging poor him behind me and they will gladly clip his nails with smile. Too bad my dog is a chicken. It does not matter how nice they are to him, he shakes and whimpers as if the world will end every time. You think he's get use to it, but no. I think he wishes we never found such a convenient place to stop by.  4 stars from me, 0 from my dog.

They tend to be pretty busy, so I recommend an appointment.

We just started taking our nine year old Cocker Spaniel to Nona due to several bad experiences after moving to SF 2 years ago.  Who knew leaving your dog's groomer was worse than leaving your own hair stylist?

The first groomer wouldn't get the mats out from under his arms.  The second groomer wasn't experienced enough on Cocker Spaniels and left his face unshaved and the next time it was his tail!  Ever seen a Cocker Spaniel with a fat tail?  HA!  The third groomer burned his neck several times with the clippers and after several warnings and pleadings I had to actually write the SPCA and send photos of my dog's wounds.

Groom, regrettably is my last resort, but I'm so happy I've found it!

Nona is charming and was even able to go back and trim Winston's head even after hours of pokin' and proddin'.  Just like with DbearT...she kissed Winston's little snout to distract him from the irritation of more clipper noise and shaving and he was fine!

Take it from a three time LOSER...Groom is great!  Reasonably priced.  Easily  accessible.  Excellent service and quality grooming for your pet.  Nona's a charmer!  Thanks a million!

They are good. I still slap myself on the forehead every time I plunk down between 50 and 60 to have my 9 lb pooch groomed, but I have to say that when I pick Frieda up from Groom.. she is wagging her tail as opposed to tail tucked between her legs and wimpering like a scene from :"The Accused". they do a good job and one time at band camp... they even gave her a  Brazilian at my request. She was matted and I said that Frieda would be very upset if she went completely bald, so could they just shave from the waist down. and they did. People laughed, but Frieda was warm from the waist up and that is all that matters.

I cheated on Katherine at Pet Grooming Headquarters and took my dog to Groom based on the proximity to my grandmother's house.  The person at the front desk is the sweetest lady ever and adored my dog.  She even gave Daisy a kiss.  They did an awesome job and prices are reasonable (but you can't beat Pet Grooming Headquarters).   Daisy looked lovely.  My girlfriend even said that Groom did the best job out of all the places I've taken her (Including Pet Grooming Headquarters).  Last time Daisy went for grooming, she went back to Pet Grooming Headquarters and I will most likely stick with Katherine due to proximity to my home.  But, I may take Daisy back to Groom if it's convenient.

O.K.  So we've taken our lovable, long haired pup to many other groomers and Groom is where we've landed.  It isn't the most convenient place for us to go.  Parking can be a drag in inner Richmond, but it's well worth it.  Christine (I hope I spelled that right) is a wonderfully mellow and caring groomer.  She always treats my slightly psychotic, separation anxious dog with love.  He doesn't like to be crated so she allows him to run around a bit so he doesn't whine.

Most importantly, he always looks like a brand new dog when we pick him up.

We've been to Beauty and the Beast, Pets Unlimited and a few other groomers, but Groom is tops.

Make sure to specify whether or not you want doggie perfume or not.  Sometimes our furry friends aren't big fans.

BONUS: Burma Superstar is right down the street a few blocks.  Drop off your pooch and hit some shops then have a Tea Leaf Salad.  It's a party in your mouth!

I spend $11 on my haircut I look like a homeless dude who is planning to join the military. I spend 4 times more on my pups haircuts and they look so adorable. I love Groom. They do a remarkable job on my dogs. I will take them no where else. The only problem is that it seems that everyone else thinks the same thing as you have to call in for an appointment which can be a few weeks down the road. But it's so worth it!

They are thorough with their groom. I sometimes peek in and the dogs are treated well. I'm not a big fan of Petsmart or Petco because they just cage the dogs for a long while. Not here.. You make the appointment and they tell you when the dogs will be done so they don't  sit in doggy jail for longer than they have to.

Definitely worth a visit at least once...but make sure you don't make your appointment before mine!

I love this place! We brought our Cairn Terrier in for a wash/groom and he came out cuter than he's ever been. Grooming the Cairn is a very arduous process because they have a harsh top layer that needs to be stripped and they did a wonderful job. When I went to pick up our pup, I was amazed at how handsome he looked. He had a perfect cut and his hair was smooth and smelled great.  We've also gotten so many compliments on his haircut, even by the groomers at Petco!

OK, I felt like I was making an appointment at a shi-shi hair salon, and I guess in a way, I was... They had a cancellation, so I was able to get in just a week after I called to make the appointment (I don't know how long it usually takes).  They treated my dog with great care, and I have to say, she looks supercute.  She was ready exactly when they said she'd be and didn't seem like she'd been stressed out or anything.  Great job!

OK, I'm editing this because I've switched to Little Ark after some disappointments with Groom.  The last couple of times we went to Groom, our dog came away with an irritation on her 'hoo-ha' that made her 'scoot' to scratch for over a week.  The scooting made it even more inflamed and so it took some time to get it cleared up.  Not sure if they didn't rinse her well enough down there or trimmed too close, but Little Ark did a much more gentle job of tidying up her nether region.

Another problem that I realize I had with Groom was that they only allowed me to leave my dog there for a few hours.  At Little Ark, I can leave my dog the entire day - she gets a more relaxed spa-like experience out of it and I don't have to rush over midday to pick her up as I do with Groom.

I love this place! They did such a great job with our little dogger we will never go anywhere else. The owner is friendly and you can tell she cares about our animals.

Make sure you call to set up an appointment or you won't be able to get in. The only thing is that it's pricey. But we seem to love to spoil our pets so if you don't mind spending $50 for a groom - this is your place.

I loved this place -- until it was sold to new owners in mid 2007. Now it's mediocre at best. And rather than tell me outright they don't want to cater to big dogs -- I've got a 100 pound short haired mutt--  the new owner charged 50% more than Kristine (the previous owner whom I loved) without asking me if that was okay. Presumably they don't want my business, but given the mediocre job, I'll take the hint and move on. Time to find a new groomer ....

I love groom. Christine is no longer there but the new owner (I'm sorry I can't remember her name right now) is just as great. They treat my dogs like the stars they are. They even tell me my poodle doesn't bite when she's there--which is a true testament to them. And they hate to let my Yorkie go home at the end of the day--sometimes when I get there to pick them up at the end of the day the entire staff is on the floor playing with him. Because it's hard to get in I tried going to many MANY other shops and let me tell you it's worth the wait, the price, the parking or whatever may be deterring you. Just make your next appt. when you pick up.

Groom formerly Silver Poodle is awesome!  I got a referral from Balboa Pet Hospital and they were totally right on about this place.  Chris is the the owner and she is so friendly and sweet to Indie(my pup) and me.  Unfortunately since I've been rather penniless lately I've resorted to trimming Indie's hair myself.  I used to take Indie to Groom every month and Indie would come back so impeccably groomed!  Her paw fur would be soo neatly trimmed, around her eyes and even her poop trail were all so tidy.  She'd always come back with a pretty little bow on her head.  Indie suffers from separation anxiety but when I used to pick her up after a day of grooming she seemed totally at ease and happy.  Her coat would be so shiny, smooth, and silky.  Now that I bathe and cut Indie's hair myself I know just how hard it can be to get such perfect cuts on such a squirmish little pup.  Hopefully I'll be able to bring my pup back soon.  Groom is seriously busy so make sure to make an appointment well in advance to get the date you want.
