The bar which is part of the" Grill" is one of my guilty pleasures. Yes I admit it, I like to wear nice clothes, go out and end the night at the Westin bar. I'll order a Woodfords Reserve Bourbon (neat of course) and sit in the quiet lobby to do some people watching. Nice hotels are always exciting, people are usually dressed up coming or going.
Maybe it's my inner desire to be a secret agent that brings me here....that would be cool.
Naw, it's cause this is just a great place to sit and have a chat and a drink.

Never would've come here except for the fact my friends and I were already in the lobby and wanted to grab a bite to eat and didn't want to go any further afield than was absolutely necessary. Yes, I was there for the Anime Expo 2007 convention--I'll own up to my uber-geekiness right off the bat :P Anyhoo, most of the diners there looked like well-heeled "regular" hotel guests and the atmosphere was relaxed and upscale. White table linens, the live quiet piano music, the bright early afternoon sun filtering through the skylights above--all very refined and civilized-feeling. The menu was limited but it all sounded very good; I ended up having the fish tacos (grilled halibut). The rice was a tad underdone for my taste, but the fish was wonderfully moist and flavorful. Some of my friends had sandwiches and burgers and their fries were really really good (all crispy but not hard, sprinkled with coarse salt and cracked pepper). A bit pricey, but for the atmosphere and food well worth it.
Our waitress turned out to be one of those who don't write orders down, and that always makes me nervous. What is the deal with not writing orders down? Is it supposed to be more classy to have waiters with superior memorizing skills? It always makes me kind of have a belligerent attitude, like, "You better get that order right." Sure enough, a few minutes later she came out to confirm a couple of the orders, which would've been totally unnecessary had she written them down--lame. But it's a pretty minor point to belabor when everything else was so pleasant. By the way, when the professional piano player went on break, the open piano was overtaken by some anime geek joker who promptly belted out the beginning to "Cold As Ice" by Foreigner. I don't know whether to add or dock a star for that.
