So I took the family to Easter Brunch here. It is pricey ($45 per/person on Easter, $32 others Sundays), but I figured for a special occasion no big deal, especially with out of town guests.
I had made reservations, which I was called to confirm a few days before. We arrived a little early, and used the complimentary valet. And though we were early, they seated us right away.
Once seated we were given mimosa's or champagne, or whatever you wanted to drink... And our waiter kept them full the entire time. The food was really good and there was plenty of it. Fruit, veggies, crudités platter, cheeses, made to order eggs, and waffles, prime-rib, chicken, risotto, mahi mahi, cobb and pasta salad bar, eggs benedict, cheese blintzes, potatoes (roasted and mashed), pastries, sushi (rolls and sashimi), shrimp, clams, and many dessert items....
I think I got it all.
Overall my family had a great time. It was a little chilly outside where the buffet was, but what are you gonna do about that. We all left really full, and extremely happy with the service we received.

Patio atmosphere was good, waiter was robotic and harried, although efficient. I took my wife here for her Birthday.. her choice. We have visited HDS and had drinks but never dinner. I wouldn't go again. She might.
I ordered the Strip Steak Med Rare and it was chewy and tough. Not what you expect for $34.00. My side of Potatos Au Gratin were crunchy. Ick. We did split a Caesar salad and it was remarkably good however. Her dish was Lamb Chops and she described it as "fair". Side dish of Chive mashed potatos was bland. Margaritas were good.
Observing other tables I noticed most people ordered the Hamburger and Tacos. They seemed to enjoy them so my guess is stay away from the steaks and chops here, stick with the simple stuff and avoid a $92.00 bill (reduced by 2 drinks because the food came luke warm).
I'm giving it 5 stars because it is in Tucson. This is the nicest hotel and restaurant I've been to in Tucson. The food here is excellent - I've ate just about everything on the menu and it is tasty. The steak is great here and the atmosphere is awesome. I really enjoyed staying in the hotel too. Not cheap.

This gets five stars because it is in Tucson. That said we had a wonderful brunch and the food and service were really outstanding. We had a large party and it was quiet enough for everyone to talk to each other without feeling like we were center stage. This place made a liar out of me.... can't say there are no good restaurants in Tucson anymore.
I went here on Christmas Eve with my husband and mother in law. This was there 3rd time going so, some comments made are also based on their experiences.
First of all, the outside is absolutely stunning, they had small bonfires lit leading up the mountain to the restaurant that was super cool...the view and landscaping at the top made me feel rich and fancy..and then walking in - Holy shit, it's amazing. Being from the midwest, perhaps I have not been in a lot of Hacienda style places, but every detail was to perfection.
The food. Well, my husband and I do eat seafood but don't eat other meats such as chicken, beef, etc. Though there were 3 fish dishes on the menu, only one was only seafood. That was really disappointing, as my husband had to get the risotto, which ended up ... well adequate.
My mother in law had the duck, which she said was really chewy and just okay.
I had the swordfish which was really awesome. The pureed cauliflower kind of made the dish.
The wine list is intense, and though it's really impressive to have a catalog of wine, it would be nice if it were organized somewhat better, or even had a featured wine list of the night.
The service was okay, but as my husband, whom is a waiter at a fine dining restaurant pointed out, the food runners had their thumbs all over the inside of every dish. yuck.
The desert was pretty good, but the espresso was super sour tasting.
I was so impressed with atmosphere that it overshadowed the mediocreness of the food. But in the end..it was really expensive. The night before at Wildflower the food blew me away, and was much less. They also said that the menu seems pretty much the same as it has the last 3 years on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, it sounds as if the tradition will be broken next year, as they will be looking for a new place for their special holiday dinner. Both my husband and mother in law are pretty intense foodies, and I think really wanted to be blown away by the food, but it just doesn't cut it.
What a beautiful resort, highlighting the picturesque natural landscape of Tucson. From the restaurant, you have a great view of the Mountains and their desert garden.
The Sunday Champagne brunch was delicious. The options were just enough (prime rib, waffles, omlettes) - but their dessert table could use a little more variety.
This is the perfect spot for a lovely brunch for the girls.
Food was near number one in Tucson, but the service (which I've heard from numerous people) wasn't good. Great wine list and a knowlegable Sommelier!

This is some of the best quality, best tasting food I've had in a long time. They have the best salads I've ever tasted as well. Do they season them? Anyhoo, you can't go wrong here but be prepared to sink a pretty penny or three into dinner for two.

I rate it FIRST CLASS and number ONE in all of Tucson. Especially for a very special visitor.

Ok, it was early on a quiet Wednesday afternoon and I missed the turn-off to another restaurant. But I had been to Hacienda del Sol before, so I boldly parked my car (no valet parking at that hour of the day) and marched the steps up to the grill. Bob was on duty and after a very brief juggle of phone calls he had me seated on the patio. Now mind you this was not prime time for cooking. I was nevertheless treated to a mouthwatering Angus beef burger too big to bite into and a delicious drink prepared almost exactly as I like it. The lovely waitress, Laura, kept asking if I would be more comfortable sitting at a table looking out over the canyon, but where I sat was just fine! When I commented that the drink should next time be just a bit drier (shame on me, I was drinking a Grey Goose martini, neat, with a twist), Bob brought me a replacement free despite my half-hearted attempts to dissuade him. On a busy night I know this place gets really busy. But it's also a really lovely place to go for a late lunch!!!
