Never heard of waffles stuffed w/bacon, eggs, and cheese.  I was initially turned off just by the description of it, so I tried a stuffed waffle w/bananas and walnuts w/powered sugar. Might I say it was DELICIOUS.  I did try the stuffed waffle w/the eggs, bacon, and cheese and was very surprised it too was delicious.

Initially when I got the waffle, I looked at it and thought..... boy this is small, guess I'll have to get something to eat again afterwards.  I did manage to eat the whole waffle (I have to add that I never finish any of my meals) and it was filling.  My suggestion: be creative, try something new and step outside the box a little.

The atmosphere reminds me of a little cafe. It is small inside but that doesn't make a difference unless it's packed.

They're proud of their coffee here and they should be! I had a cup of plain ol' drip and loved it! Full bodied, full flavored goodness!

The waffles weren't bad either, but they weren't spectacular or anything. On this first trip, I ordered a savory waffle with three stuff-in's and I liked it for the most part. The caramelized onions were much sweeter than my preference, the cheese was somewhat skimpy, and the turkey bacon is of the cheaper, more processed variety, but the waffle was a flawless golden brown with the perfect soft-to-crisp ratio. My girlfriend ordered off the weekend brunch menu. She felt her eggs were overcooked when she asked for "over easy" and the potatoes were well-seasoned but too dry. Overall the meal was fine. The highlight being my Cup o' Joe!

Very delicious waffles.  A different twist with the cinnamon dough.  Just a bit too sweet with the sugar pearls.  $3.50

The panini's were really good.  I had the essex. The price was $9, plus $3.50 for the waffle.  Came out to be $13.  A bit pricey for a lunch.  I would come back though and try the waffle topped with ice cream.

A group of us visited the waffle shop on a Sunday in November, 2011 for brunch. I believe that this place has changed hands since it's now called Grid Iron Waffles.
My husband has the insatiable sampler, which came with home fries, eggs, bacon, sausage, and one each of waffle, french toast, and a  pancake. Hubby, who is a bit of a waffle nut, said these were the best waffles he's ever had.  I agree. They're sweet, crunchy on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside. The french toast was amazing. It almost tasted like they were custard-filled.  The only disappointment were the home fries, which were slightly under-cooked for our taste.

My MIL had the waffles with a dark chocolate center. She was in heaven.  She was worried they'd be too sweet or that there would be too much chocolate. This wasn't the case at all.

I had the eggs benny served on a waffle. It works, although I would have liked my eggs cooked a bit more a tad more Hollandaise sauce.

And the coffee was great. Most times I think breakfast places mail it in with the coffee, but not this place. Their coffee is strong, dark, and bold.

Service was OK (place wasn't very busy and our food came quickly) and prices were reasonable.

This may be our new favorite place to go for breakfast!

Hated this place, call me an idiot for going back a 2nd time, the service sux, their crepes are disgusting, and DONT get them.
Other than the terrible service and the food, the owner is terrible gave me an ear ful in her ' confusion' when I called to explain the crepe I just had may have had sauce on it that went bad.  I'd never go back.. and I'm a full fledge idiot for going back, let alone calling them.
And I agree with Kevin K. (see his post).

I don't even remember what this food taste like. First time I came here all I noticed was the negative attitude. Came back a second time with my family and the manager or cashier or whoever was rude. After seeing this nasty person treat my dad like an idiot for no reason (maybe he cracked a corny joke or something - who knows), I have never ever ever ever set foot in this place again. I despise it.

Decent place for breakfast.  The waffles are smaller than we were expecting; my friend had two (a la mode with strawberry & dark chocolate) and while he said they were tasty, we went home and cooked up lunch.  The oatmeal creme brulee was good, but I had expected the bananas to be more carmalized.  My boyfriend got the veggie panini which he was very happy with and I enjoyed my savory waffle, though when I read "sausage and peppers" I expect Italian sausage, not the breakfast kind.  My bestie did ask for her crepe with just butter and lemon and still had to knock the lump of (albeit real) whipped cream off the top, but  she did enjoy it.  The coffee was good; my au lait was perfect.  Good biscotti as well.

Service was a little slow, for no reason we could figure out as the place wasn't all that busy.  I'd definitely go back, but wouldn't expect to fill up there are the portions are just too smal.

Went here again and tried one their waffles. OMG. My friend and I split the stuffed strawberry waffle, which was just amazing... not too sweet and the perfect size. Seriously incredible. The boys with us had their savory stuffed waffles with eggs and various breakfast meats... both sounded pretty happy with their choices.

This place is very quickly becoming my favorite lunch place in the entire tri-state area... I wavered a bit giving them 5 stars since the atmosphere is not soooo amazing... but the amazingness of the food has gotten to me and I feel compelled to award 5 stars.

Reviewer JOYCE B is a liar and a bully plain and simple. I was unfortunately sitting behind her and witnessed ALL that transpired! I was on the couch reading when she arrived and moved to a table at 10:30am. She arrived late to meet a friend who occupied the table for 20 min prior to her arrival at 9am. She only ordered coffee, NO FOOD! She occupied the table for 2 and a half solid hours sipping her coffee and oblivious to anything that was going on around her...a packed cafe with a line out the door!
The waitress visited the table no less than 5 times over the 2 and a half hours she was there asking if she could get them anything else...hint hint ..every time she asked they rudely ignored her.
"Joyce" finally was politely asked if she would mind moving to the couch so the waitress could accommodate the long line of families waiting at the door and outside in the cold. She said, "no, I will not move, we are leaving soon". Every table was full except the one adjacent to her that they needed to put together. The owner then went over after another 15 min had passed to collect their check (that they finally after an hour decided to pay) and asked "how was everything".  The woman in a raised voice so everyone would hear, went off on the owner, telling her that she will never be back, that she had never been treated so badly before, that she should be able to stay as long as she likes and that she has never been asked to get up from a table before. The owner tried her best to explain and diffuse the situation, offered the couch area again but "Joyce" was only interested in making a scene. What a bully. The owner left the table, cashed out her check and went back to the table. While she was gone the woman was telling her friend not to tip the waitress and said wait till Yelp hears about this! When the owner returned, the woman again loudly said she will never be back and that she should be able to stay as long as she likes, that she had never been asked to get up before at a diner...the owner then (rightfully so after enduring much abuse) said,  "well I am very sorry, I guess you don't get out much" ...when she left almost every diner including myself cheered! One said good riddance.
Grid Iron (formerly Bonte) is fabulous. The food is outstanding. The service is good but can be a little slow sometimes on the weekends...but this is primarily due to how busy they are. They do however always make up for it with their kindness.

O, Bonte Wafflerie, why are you so far away?

The 5 star is for their waffles. Dark chocolate waffles to be exact. Yum. I always order 7 waffles in a day and bring it home, so I have waffles for breakfast everyday for a week. Genius!

I'm not really sure why they're always empty though. Though, Dunkin Donuts next door is always crowded. Weird.

Bonte is a coffee house that serves sandwiches (hot & cold), salads, soups, pastries, and of course, waffles!  These belgian waffles are  a bit on the small side, but they are quite delicious with no syrup necessary. You can choose to mix in fruit, nuts, and/or chocolate to your waffles. We went for the banana/strawberry mix-in and it was moist and yummy - but these are best eaten as soon as they are served. The waffles make great desserts - you can also get it with a side of ice cream.

Some of the coffee drinks on the special menu sounded tempting, but I stuck with black tea, so I can't say how the coffee tasted.

The sandwiches were a decent sized portion - not too much, but still filling.  I went with your basic mozzarella, roasted red pepper, and pesto panini.

This is a cute little place with a small seating area and I can see it getting really crowded. But it's nice for a quick bite and I wouldn't mind if a Bonte showed up in my neighborhood!

Good Coffee, Delish Waffles. Sometimes specials (not sure when though)

Might be a chain waffle house (not sure), but even for a chain, definitely stop by. A very open, quasi-retro style setting. Worth checking out.

Tried this place over the weekend and the food is okay, but nothing special (you don't have to be a chef to make dry waffles).  Though, the service is absolutely horrible and the place was empty!  Be prepared to wait while the staff talks among each other and seemingly does nothing.

My waitress was indifferent and actually made me feel like she was doing me a favor by serving me.  Had to practically beg for coffee and syrup for my waffles.

Overall, was an unpleasant experience and I won't be back.

A cute little cafe/ wafflerie tucked away on South Orange Ave. They have delicious waffles with sugar mixed into the dough. I love that you can choose your toppings which they put into the waffle iron with your baking waffle. You can smell the lovely aroma as you wait for it to heat up. It's a very quaint European vibe that provides a nice alternative from a typical suburb / college area. I suggest trying different fruits with chocolate in your waffle with a side of ice cream- it doesn't get much better than that! YUM :)

I first tried a Bonte in Philly and loved their chocolate waffles.  I was extremely excited when I saw this one open up by my brother's house.  This Bonte has a bigger menu than the one in Philly but no need to try anything else but the chocolate waffle.  So good.

    just eh...
went to a shop nearby and since the reviews are pretty good, I went in with my parents.

portions are tiny.  got the turkey sandwich with melted cheese and saurkraut.  sandwich was pretty decent.  salad nicoise was just so so.
the sugar waffle was a big disappointment.  I was saving room for nothing.

Bonte is a great addition to South Orange. The waffles are yummy as are all the other food items I've tried. I especially like their homemade croissants. We're looking forward to sampling the chocolate fondue this weekend when they host "dessert night."

Food is mediocre but attitude of owner is the worst - the  waitress and then owner asked us to move to accomodate a larger party just a few minutes before we were getting ready to leave (although there were other tables available that could have been combined to seat the other group).  When we protested, the owner pretty much said that we had been there long enough and she needed to turn tables.  When I said that I had never been asked to give up a table before she told me that I didn't get out enough.  Needless to say, neither my friend nor I will return - not for the food and certainly not for the service!  It's unfortunate because the owner fails to understand the importance of good customer relations in keeping a small business alive and we went there solely to be supportive since the food is really not the draw.  Don't know how long they will survive with mediocre food and really poor attitudes!

Weekdays are great, weekends are terrible. New "restaurant seating" on the weekends and the staff aren't able to keep up with it. Waited over 20 minutes for someone to take my order after I was seated. On any given weekday when it's a "walk to the counter and order" type place, it's great. Far too expensive, though. Expect a sandwich, coffee, and water to run close to $14 bucks.

Delicious coffee, great vibe and nice wait staff!!! Very friendly and everything on the menu looks good.  Lots of different waffles to try - but they are belgian style sugar waffles, don't expect standard american style large belgian waffles . . . . Different batter and preparation.  Delicous and more of a dessert.

very good sandwhiches, coffee/coffee drinks,  and solid baked goods. While it advertises itself for their waffles they are pretty small and very pricey. Laid back atmosphere, good music free wi-fi which is a plus good alternative to the Starbucks further down
