This is a great place to go to watch sunsets or picnic during the day.  There are picnic tables on the cliff overlooking the ocean view.  If you want to go down to the beach, the access is a lot easier than some of the other beaches nearby because of the developed path down.

If I had little kids with me, I don't think I would take them there.  Just an FYI for parents.  It seems like it would be a hassle to deal with the cliffs, steep hike up and down to the beach, ect.  So while it's not a good beach to bring the kids, it's a really nice place to go without them.

I do enjoy a nice day out at the beach and with all of the great spots our coast has to offer there is no shortage of adventures in finding a decent place to chill for the day.  However, when in the need of a beach where a good size bonfire and staying out all night is not a problem, Greyhound Rock is where me and my friends know to go.

The park is located roughly seven miles north of Davenport and has a real parking lot, public restrooms, picnic tables, and a paved walkway to the beach (amenities many of the beach hangouts closer to Santa Cruz lack).  The distance from SC does seem to keep many of the loud college crowd attracted to the southern beaches like Bonny Doons or Davenport itself which in turn also keeps the cop visits to a minimum.

Greyhound Rock is named for the large rock in the water dominating the view from the whole area, but finding any information across the inter-tubes regarding this beach/county park is damn near impossible.  There are sites and people who have mentioned that fishing, bird watching, and scuba diving are all possible here.
