The prettiest carousel! The staff at the ticket booth are really nice. $4 a ride and parents ride free for kids under 42 inches. I have never seen a carousel with such cute animals. This is also a newer one too so the seats are really new.

Severely understaffed. The same person operating the carousel is selling tickets. The carousel stops 10 min between each run.

If the carousel is open, then spring has officially arrived in Boston even if we just had a dusting of flurries last week.
The carousel operates in a part of the city that used to have the ugly elevated roadway but now that they've spent a few billion dollars to put that underground, this wonderful greenway exists and one of the crown jewels is this beautiful carousel.
Even if you don't have kids, it's nice to sit here and listen to them having fun on the ride. Way too much fun!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 13Oh no 0 - Oct 18, 2019
For $4, my friend and I each had an awesome 3.5 minute carousel ride on some of the cutest little animals you can ever ride. I can't even tell you the last time I was on a carousel but the weather was so beautiful, how could we not ride it? Fun for kids of all ages. For. Sure.

My family and I have this rule that if we see a carousel, our kids have to go on it. This place was no exception. It's very cute, one of my favorite carousels in Boston so far. The animals are really eclectic (cat fish?) and it's beautifully done. If you're over a certain height, you can go on it yourself (there's a carrot for your kids to stand next to) and if not, an adult has to be there next to them (no charge for the adults), so it's a sweet way to see your kids smile.
Tickets were $2 or $3 per kid? Very reasonable and the best part is for the adults (it's located in a scenic part of Boston!).Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 13Oh no 0 - 70020462047Jul 11, 2015
SO FUN!
It's $3, if you want to kill time and feel like a kid again, go here, and you'll have no regrets.
They've got fun animals for you to ride, and I want to say that they're all New England animals...but I might have missed something like a unicorn...Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 552578427Jun 26, 2015
A carousel? In the middle of the city? Sure!!!
On Tuesday, a bunch of us adult people had an awesome time riding the Greenway Carousel. We're all going weeeeeeee after the insane sugar rush that was going through our brains from Ghirardelli :) I ride a lobster. I'm a cancer so it fits lol.
After everyone left, three of us went on again. #YOLOHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 11, 2013
I went back to my childhood this hot & steamy afternoon, all for $3. No calories involved, just good clean fun.
After seeing the piece on "Chronicle" a couple of weeks ago about the opening of the Carousel, I knew I HAD to go for a ride. I chose the bunny (there are a couple of different bunnies), and off we went on our musical adventure.
This is awesome, and you should go. Actually, you have no reason not to, seeing as it costs less than your coffee. Open daily through Halloween, then weekends through the end of the year (Google it for more details). You can even get 10 rides for $25 and ride 10 different nifty New England themed animals.
Seriously wonderful.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - 5136881655Sep 1, 2013First to Review
I was lucky enough to ride the Greenway Carousel on the 1st day it opened to the public.
I've been watching the construction progress profiled on the TV show Chronicle & through updates on the Rose Kennedy Greenway Facebook page, so I was very excited to see it in person!
The rides cost $3 for everyone over 42" (if you're under the height of the ticket counter, you can ride for free.)
The carousel is also handicap accessible. If a member of your party will be riding that's in a wheelchair, just let the staff at the entrance know, and they'll load the person in the wheelchair on first, so they can properly set up the entrance ramp and secure the wheelchair before crowds of families swarm the ride.
The figures on the carousel aren't your normal carousel figures - no horses in sight. Instead, they're figures of creatures found in New England. They asked school children what animals they'd like to see on the ride and ended up with lobsters, foxes, butterflies, a whale, a cricket, and lots of other fun "New England" animals.
The ride is about 3 minutes, and I really enjoyed letting my inner child out for a few minutes and taking a ride.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Michelle C.Wayland, MA924874869Oct 18, 2017
Drive by all the time and have been looking forward to riding for a longtime. Such a cute carousal with unique hand made characters.
I saw an interesting segment on Chronicle about the sculptor who is a MA native (Jeffrey Briggs). Love the uniqueness of this ride as it's not the typical horses carousel.
At only $3/ride, it's a bargain!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
