As a friend and fellow animal rescue volunteer, I have had the privilege of seeing how Ailsa and Steve of the Almaden area's Greenman Pet Services interact with their own pets, and have always been deeply impressed.  They prepare meals for their animals, all of their pets see the vet regularly (even if they're not sick) and they give each animal a level of attention I could only hope to offer mine.  I'm not surprised to see good reviews of their pet sitting service here on Yelp, because I know it carries over into their work.

I would trust Steve and Ailsa with my own birds, no questions asked, and I'm sorry I can't find a pet sitter like them in my own area.

We had a wonderful experience with Greenman Pet Services. They watched our very anti-boarding cats for a week.
When we contacted Steve and Ailsa, we were very pleased with their professional attitude. They presented us with a clear pricing structure and were able to make recommendations based on our animals particular needs. They are both well versed in animal care and planned for every possible problem we might run into (having to stay an additional day, emergency contacts, who to turn over the cats to in the event we should become incapacitated.)
They took the time to meet our cats beforehand, and to understand their needs. This made us very comfortable with leaving them this Christmas, as we have not felt in the past.
They were also able to send us email updates of how the cats were doing if we became nervous or began to fret.
From beginning to end we were well pleased and felt that we got quite a bit of value for our money when we hired them. You will not regret it.

Greenman Pet Services is a licensed and insured pet services company based in the Almaden Valley of San Jose. We are dedicated to the health, safety, and happiness of companion animals of all kinds. We love the joy that animals bring to our lives, and know others do too.  We are also committed to being a Green Business - reducing, reusing, and recycling and buying products for our business that are  earth-friendly.

We are available to help care for any pets: dogs, cats, birds (from a flock in aviary to socialized companion parrots), rodents, reptiles, fish, and beyond - and we'd love to meet your family!   We have excellent references (which you can see here on Yelp as well as on our "testimonials" page on our website).

I met a great lady on Yelp,
In a talk thread providing help.
A pet sitter indeed!
She was just what I need,
Now, I don't vacation by myself!

Having never used a pet sitter before, I am thrilled beyond belief to have found Ailsa and Steve of Greenman. My previous hobby involving cats mostly had my husband and I away at different times. Now finally, we have the opportunity to travel together. But, what about the cats? Finding myself in this situation was worrisome at best.

Now that I have Ailsa and Steve, I'll never worry about this again. In fact, I'm going to plan more vacations!

I would not hesitate to recommend them and here's why:

1. They are professional, honest and trustworthy.
2. They are kind, caring and experienced when it comes to pets.
3. My cats were at ease with them upon first meeting; and so was I.
4. They did a fabulous job of caring for my babies.
5. They sent detailed email updates with photos on a daily basis.
6. Their fees are reasonable and fair.
7. They take in mail, newspapers, water plants, and other things too.
8. My cats were happy, healthy and content when I returned.
9. Ailsa called to make sure all was well when I got home.
10. They said they'll miss seeing my cats everyday - and I know they meant it!

It is with great pleasure and thanks that we write this letter of recommendation for Steve and Ailsa at Greenman Pet Services.  Greenman Pet Services serve the greater Bay Area in California.  We know Ailsa through the Mickaboo Bird Rescue organization as Ailsa is the conure coordinator for Mickaboo.  As an overprotective pet owner, we hardly traveled anywhere in fear of leaving our "kids" behind.  We have 7 birds that we love dearly.  We were so very happy and relieved to find Ailsa and Steve.  

Before our departure date, both Steve and Ailsa came over to get to know our birds.  They were truly interested in getting to know their personalities, quirks, likes, dislikes, and their daily routine.  While we were gone they took great care to understand everyone's temperament and made sure everyone followed their normal routine.  So our birds not only got food and water, they got lots of "out time" to play and get attention as well.  Both Steve and Ailsa were wonderful with our birds.  Our 'finicky' bird Mojo, who normally does not like anyone (including my husband), got along great with Steve.  Steve even got our old man Mojo to come out and ride on his shoulder and drink from the faucet!  That is something we have not been able to achieve!  It was a miracle.

During our trip we received daily detailed status emails on how everyone was doing.  They even took the time to send pictures as well!  We even got a short movie of one of our birds!  It was such a treat and a great touch to their service.  We were very happy to see our kids safe and having fun while we were away.  This allowed us to fully enjoy our vacation.  We were truly relaxed knowing we had Steve and Ailsa taking care of our birds and home.  

When we returned home from our trip we could tell our birds had been well cared for.  All of our birds were very happy and playful, unlike some of our other trips.  Steve and Ailsa made sure to leave our lights on and even printed out a note with the last status update.  The note even included details from the day, observations on our birds, and even color print out of pictures of our birds from that day!  It was again such a great touch and tribute to their world class service.  Steve and Ailsa also followed up with phone call when we got back to make sure we got back safely.  They were very keen to make sure the birds were taken care of and would have come over if they didn't hear from us.  It was such a great touch and relief that if something had happened, Steve and Ailsa would have been there for us.

We feel very fortunate to have Greenman Pet services for our pet sitting needs.  Both Steve and Ailsa have a big heart and an even bigger understanding of animals. We have complete confidence in their judgment, reliability, and most of all on their knowledge and kindness towards animals.  We will most definitely be using Greenman Pet Services in the future.  We plan to do a lot more traveling now that we know our birds will be safe and happy with Greenman Pet Services!
