Greenling has been awesome to me and I live all the way out in Fort Hood. We were driving into Austin regularly just to get to Whole Foods and other awesome stores that you'd never see anywhere near a military town. My husband and I have a lifestyle that is not common in military culture that include organic foods, natural cleaning products, and other sustainable/green practices. Greenling is nice enough to put together a basket for us to pick up from their warehouse saving us much time and money in the long run.

Greenling also offers a good variety of gluten free products and grass-fed dairy/meat which are hard to get in most grocery stores especially if you don't live in or near a city.

We are vegetarians now and the produce is what we purchase on the one time option so we can change it with no repeats. This is much easier than writing a list, driving in traffic, facing a hectic store, etc. The prices are about the same and they're doing the stressful part for me after clicking the mouse a few times in the comfort of my home or on my phone. They let you change your order up until noon two days before your delivery. I roll on into Austin, pick up my box and I'm good for one to two weeks depending on what I select since produce life span varies. The produce is great quality and they will refund you for anything you find subpar since they fill the boxes.

I can't think of a better business who does make so many accommodations for their customers even out of their delivery range. They also have perks for referrals that benefit the referrer and new customer with discounts. I couldn't ask for more and intend on supporting these guys the remainder of our time in TX!

What can I tell you? I love food.  I was turned onto this service by a friend/co-worker.  You simply log on and sign up for the free delivery.  Here is what I like about this service: Free delivery right to your front door, you can either choose the pre-made baskets or you can make your own, nice selection, friendly staff, and the site is super easy to navigate.

Here is what I do not like:  It's a little pricey for me.  I can get the same quality organic foods for less at my local grocers.  I do splurge when I can and enjoy the goodies!

Greenling is perfect if you either a) abhor grocery shopping and/or b) don't have time to go grocery shopping. You can get a mixture of local items and non-local items, and everything is picked with scrutiny...it has to match their values. That  makes me feel good about buying anything from them.

I asked a poultry farmer about their relationship with Greenling. They said, verbatim, "Greenling is good to us" with a big smile. So, that made me very happy.

It's expensive. That's what you pay for the convenience of picking up a bin in front of your door instead of going out and braving the market or the grocery store. This is a service for people that have more money than time.

Their weekly newsletters are wonderful, full of information about what's in season now, what's in the local box this week, accompanying recipes, and other useful information.

Note that if they run out of an item you ordered from a farm, they'll substitute it automatically with something you could get at Central Market. This was frustrating for me, but I was able to ask them to put a permanent note on my account to not substitute at all.

I love their fresh produce! The only reason they don't get all the stars is because they don't let you know if they're out of something before they deliver it. But I love their friendly staff and their food.

This is a great service that I discovered accidentally when I saw one of their trucks in our apartment complex. I ordered the 2 Engine Diet package which is 5 days of food with recipes for $60 (after a coupon, which you can practically always find online for this company). The produce was fresh, the delivery was timely and the drivers are very friendly. I'll definitely be using this service regularly - an excellent idea, well-executed.

We have been using Greenling for almost two years now and I cannot remember life without them.  The local box we get every week, along with the recipes that come with it, are a blessing for us.  We now look forward to our green box every wednesday.  We have also learned about other local austin businesses that we now frequent or wish we could frequent (I'm looking in your direction Little Blue Stem).  I cannot say enough good things about Greenling but I think my nearly 2 year membership to them says it all.

I love the concept. I love buying locally made produce. I love getting surprise items that I have to figure out how to cook.

But in practice, Greenling just didn't work out for me. The cost of produce was simply too high compared to HEB's organic section. Several times it seemed that by the time I got my basket, the produce was already wilted.

The time required to plan ahead is just not my style of making food. I don't think about food until I'm hungry. Only then will I go shopping or out to eat.
This philosophy is simply incompatible with a service that requires you to plan your food purchases days in advance of when you'll receive it. Plus, my fixed delivery date was Thursday & I tend to eat out more on weekends. By the time I was ready to use the food I had ordered, it would spoil.

I can't blame Greenling too much, but the rigid delivery dates and advanced order time just don't make this the easiest way to buy your food for a single young professional.

Oh, and when you calculate out how much it costs to keep a 6 sqft plastic bin lying on the floor in my little condo, its a disturbingly expensive waste of space.

I must say now I know why the local farmers are not getting people to buy local.   I tried the service and I must say I was not happy at all the products that I saw in the video was not at all what I did get.   I also  purchased a grass fed chicken and it cost me $18.00 dollars.  I also order nuts from them and cost me a fortune.  I could have gone to a farmers market or HEB and for the price I paid for my order I could have bought groceries for 3 weeks I spent 83.00 and to include the fruits where rotten and when I called they  told me they will give me a credit.  but I will not buy from them again so its lost money since they don't return you the money. I like the concept but not the prices.

Love the idea of this service. I'm a huge fan of supporting local stuff in general and the fact that they deliver it straight to my door? Shooooot. The only thing I'm not super excited about is the price for what you actually get. I understand that the whole process takes extra money, I guess I'm just kinda cheap.

Customer service was pretty awesome. They sent me a coupon email and like a Dumass (that's doo-mahss) I deleted it and didn't even remember I had it until my trash file ate it. I sent Greenling an email and very soon after I recieved a response saying that they had already credited my next order with the coupon. Now THAT is what I call good customer service!

Love you Greenling, but I've had to stop getting stuff because when it comes down to it, $50 for what equals 1 paper bag of veggies and couple goodies is too steep for my lil bitty budget...

Can I get an amen, people? As a person who's former favorite vegetable was the tator tot, I'd like to thank Greenling for so many things...I found you when I moved from Chicago - I had grocery delivery service there, so I was looking for something similar that would also support my efforts to eat better - and there you were.

And I refuse to read the newsletter until AFTER my delivery. Why? It's totally like Christmas and my birthday every week when I get my green local box - since I haven't read the newsletter, I have zero idea what's in there. And the hubs and I have such fun going though it and figuring out how to cook it all.

And customer service - top notch! I called once because a veggie was a bit wilty - they credited my acct. And a few weeks ago, I guess the driver was running late - he called to let me know. So nice.

So Greenling, thanks for being you...

I hate to do this and come off as a B, but I feel the need to add this update. Really my rating should be 3.5 stars.

3.5 stars goes to the business, what is stands for, the great things they do providing fresh, local, and organic goods right at your very doorstep. Customer service has been responsive and apologetic, which is nice and appreciated, however the executions is where I find things to be lacking.

Where did the other 1.5 stars go?

    1. The flow of the website wasn't very user-friendly. I won't go into details, but many times I second guessed myself wondering where to put packing notes and a gift message for the recipient. There was one box at checkout labeled "Gift or Packing Message". So I wondered..do I put my gift message to my friend here AND my notes for the delivery driver to know when I want this delivered? Will they know to put the gift message in the box and interpret the rest of the message as packing/delivery noted? User confusion #1

    2. Granted I hit the "back" button a few times to back track and make sure I didn't miss anything. I made sure my order was right.

    - Local & Farmstead Box in cart, check.

    - Gift card for $50 in cart, check. (Both items added from the "Gift Page")

    - Recipient's Address filled out, check.

    - Gift message saying "Merry Christmas..yada, yada", check.

I decided to go with a "Gift Message" in the "Gift or Packing Message" field, to avoid any confusion for whomever processed this order and send a separate email for specific delivery date details.

One other thing to note, there was never an "order confirmation" email sent to me. This made me worrisome and further reinforced my reasoning to send an additional email to Greenling to make sure everything was set in stone.

    3. So I send 2 emails to Greenling.

Email #1: Complaints about the web site..yea, my email was probably annoying, but I do this for a living. "This" referring to how a website should flow. If you hit this button, this screen appears. If the customer makes a mistake and has to go back to the previous screen, this should occur..you get the idea.

Email #1 Response: Luckily my babbling email of complaints was well received and forwarded to the "web designer". I'm sure it was, I just hope it wasn't received with "rolling eyes", really it was constructive criticism. So Thank you for the Greenling. Customer Service still appreciated here.

Email #2: I send an email to Greenling stating that I had just placed an order as a gift for 1 local/farmstead box and 1 gift card to be send to said gift recipient. I put all the details of the order in my email and requested the delivery to be on a specific date (today) since I knew the recipient would be home by then.

Email #2 Response: Got an email from Greenling agreeing that the delivery could be made on the date I requested no problem.

All is dandy. Until today. The Local/Farmstead box that I ordered for my friend as a gift, arrives at my door instead, doh!

I check the box, no gift message, no gift card. Also the box I received didn't have all the items in it. The Local & Farmstead box only had the "Local" items in it and none of the "Farmstead" items.

I call Greenling to straighten this out. Somehow I feel like they think this was partly "User Error", which makes me cringe. Why? because I blame the same thing in my job on others..when somebody doesn't do something right..karma biting me in the butt I guess. But I know it wasn't user error! I swear! Can I blame technology? the website?

Anyways, we concluded that it was mis-communication in the end and that Greenling thought my local/farmstead box order was for me and the gift card was for my friend. I'm not sure yet if my friend got the gift card. I would have expected a call saying "hey, thanks for the giftcard", haven't heard from them yet.

    To conclude:

    - the website gave me some heartache, I complained. Complaints were well received and hopefully reviewed in more detail

    - I don't know what happened to my gift message

    - the local and farmstead box didn't even have everything in there. I got the $34.99 worth of items, not the $49.99 that I paid for. I called a 2nd time and they apologized and were sincerely sorry and offered to credit my card back $15, which I took

    - the local/farmstead box didn't even make it to the gift recipients door. kind of kills the magical surprise of a green box filled with goodies and a gift card arriving at your doorstep, plus no fun farmstead items like cheese and bread. Again, it killed the gift *tear*

    - I sent multiple emails to try to make my order clear and I guess somehow too much information, made for even more confusion, because the order didn't turn out right, despite confirmation emails from Greenling.

    - Everything about this company could be great, it's just the execution that lacks a bit.

I don't know if my order was just a fluke, but it seems that so many things went wrong. *sigh*

I've tried three different CSAs in Austin and Greenling was just so-so to me. I found the food started turning within a day or two, which does not happen when I shop for local, organic food at the farmer's market. I also found that you get a bit more for roughly the same price with some of the other CSA delivery services around town. Greenling is a great concept for those who don't like to or want to grocery shop, but I was not impressed enough to continue ordering from them.

I have been extremely happy with the deliveries I've received.  The farm fresh eggs and tomatoes are amazing!!  I have had only good experiences.

The reason for only 4 stars is that I do find the website to be less than intuitive.  I do find the end results -  time saved, the excellent fresh, local products to be worth the website, which I've gotten used to after a couple of uses, to be well worth it!

I'm a big fan of Greenling. The prices are reasonable considering the product, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I have been real happy with the fruits and vegetables, and LOVE the Brazos Valley cheeses.
I have had one or two minor problems with my delivery in the past, but the issue was always resolved quickly. The only item I would stay away from is the milk (it tends to be less fresh then the grocery store) but if you have a family and go through it quickly it would be just fine.
I recommend them to everyone I know!

I am still continuing my devoted relationship with Greenling. We are now approaching our one year anniversary and there have been so many memories. The baby patty pan squash that helped make an intense, buttery loaf of bread; the butternut squash that was used in a creamy risotto that impressed my dinner party guests; the succulent peaches and blackberries that paired well with with our wine and cheese snack in the evening. So many, many memories.....and more to come. If there is ever any issue, Greenling promptly addresses it with sincere care and concern. This is the best customer service I have ever experienced.

And just when I thought Greenling couldn't get any better, they are now offering Recipe Boxes. That's right, 5 meals that are measured out and ready for you to prepare. There are three different 5 meal plans and they all look amazing! I just replaced my Local and Farmstead box with one of these boxes this week and I am looking forward to its arrival this Friday. I am a little nervous, but also incredibly excited. I know Greenling will not disappoint. I will let you know how it goes.

    Holy. Crap.

So, I really like the Farmer's Market. Not only can I get super healthy, fresh and delicious things there, I also get the added pleasure of being smug and bourgeois! Unfortunately, the FM happens on Saturday morning when the only acceptable activities are sleeping or going to brunch to re-drunk.

Greenling to the rescue! Their local box is delivered to my door once a week and contains so much local yumminess I can hardly stand it. For example, this week I got sweet potatoes, jalepenos,  four kinds of squash, watermelon, peaches, cucumbers, okra, an eggplant and some stuff I am no doubt forgetting. It really is enough produce to get me through the week, but not so much that it's wasteful. At $35/week that less money and more sleep than the Farmer's Market was ever willing to provide.

We're going steady now, but I don't mind sharing.

Everything Greenling does is awesome.  Last night I attended my 2nd  Greenling hosted wine tasting, and just like the last time I had a ball.

Both times have been at the Grove, which is an ideal setting.  I sampled hmmmm at least 8 different wines (some were sampled an extra time or two).  All were organic and some were evidently biodynamic.  I also learned what that meant last night.  You can look it up.

I met some wonderful people, ate great food, tasted great wine, and asked the ever-patient Mason myriad questions about 'organic' food/products.  I bet he feels like doctors when they are out and about.  "Hey what should I do for this rash on my arm?"  Hopefully he gets less disgusting questions.

So if you see an invite for a Greenling Wine Tastings, GO!!!!!  Enjoy.  And you get coupons to use on your purchase of wine/beer from Greenling.  What more do you want?

Nothing is cooler and more eco-chic than riding your bike down to the farmer's market on Saturday, but the 111 degree weather and fact that produce weighs A LOT has been cramping my dietary style.  Call Greenling.

I won't lie, I was a little hesitant for the prices, but decided to finally pull the trigger and make the purchase (I'd waffled on this one for a while but the almost ridiculous obsessiveness of both my Yelp and Foodie friends alike convinced me to go ahead with it).

While I don't see reason to be quite as fanatical as some about the service, I will say this: It is definitely a good thing though not quite the value some imply.

Did I arrive home last night with my first local box happily waiting for me with an adorable hand written note and recipes to help me fully enjoy the goods inside?  Did I find the produce beautiful and even more delicious than anything I've ever bought at Whole Foods?    Am I psyched to use their recipe to make my own fresh pickles from local farm fresh cucumbers they packed inside?    Did they call me this morning to make sure I was happy?  In writing this am I suddenly having to reconsider my evaluation of their price versus product?

    Yes to all.

Greenling is an organic grocery delivery service.  Set up your account online, create your grocery list, and a kind man will deliver it to your doorstep on a specified day.  I have been receiving local grass-fed beef, hormone-free milk, and hand-gathered local eggs for months now.
But they really outdid themselves this Thanksgiving!  I wanted to cook a "green" turkey for the holiday.  And I didn't want to mess with a frozen bird (thawing is a pain in the giblets!).  Yesterday, on Thanksgiving eve, Greenling delivered a 16 lb local fresh free-range turkey. It's beautiful.
    Butterball be damned!!!

For the past year, I've bemoaned my inability to make it to the farmer's market on Saturday mornings. Excuses, excuses.  Greenling's promise to bring it right to my door was something I considered for a while before taking the "Local Box" plunge a few weeks ago.

I know it's dorky, but coming home to a big green box of mystery food on my doorstep every Friday afternoon makes my day.  My kiddo is also excited to see what is inside, so it's become a ritual to unpack its contents and talk about what we're going to make.  It's forced me to look up new recipes and use veggies I wouldn't ordinarily buy (like sorrel, green tomatoes and corn) and provided me the best batch of green beans I've ever eaten.  My one complaint is all the carrots - not my favorite vegetable when not in cake form -- but that's just a personal taste issue.

After the first delivery, I got a call to check to make sure I was pleased with everything.  After the second, I received a handwritten note thanking me for my business and a few coupons for friends.  In each delivery, Greenling includes recipes as well as information on some of the farms they are sourcing.

All in all, a good investment so far, as long as they keep those green beans a comin'...

WOW! We are very lucky to have such an excellent service in town.

I started using Greenling service this past summer and started with the local box. with the local box you normally don't get to choose what comes in it, however you can request for certain items to not be included. So at first i was getting all this amazing stuff...but too much of the same. I cannot get through that much watermelon in the summer. Although the picks force you to come up with better things to do with it. so for teh extra watermelon i made granita (awesome way to cool down in the summer and a great way to preserve the food instead of wasting what i could not eat. Okra was another that i do not like but gave my neighbor the selection from that week and signed on to the site and asked to have that excluded form future deliveries.

i think the most interesting impact it has had on me is how i view not only local food but food in season. no doubt i take for granted all those vegiess and fruits grown far away that one can pick up at the HEB or elsewhere as if there is an endless summer here. but with going local, i am now seeing more and more hearty greens and obviously less fruit. it has made me think harder about how to cook the stuff but also thinking back to the days of grandparents who canned in the summer to have those fruits in the winter.

will it save you money, maybe not over HEB but definitely over Whole Foods. Will you save the planet? perhaps one small bite at a time. will you help the local economy and our local farmers and artisans? most definitely. and lastly, will you enjoy it? without a doubt!

I wish I had the ability to give them 6 stars, because they are THAT awesome.  I have received Greenling for over 2 years now and I couldn't be more in love with them. They have grown tremendously in those two years and just keep getting better. I currently receive the Local Produce Box with a local artisinal & farmstead add-on.  Boy-howdy, talk about $50 worth of local AWESOMENESS that should be valued much higher.

For me, the best thing about this box is that I challenge myself to make/try new things like squash blossoms, fennel, swiss chard, leeks, etc. The only warning that you need is advice on how to best store the produce. Unless you know what needs to be eaten immediately, and what can be saved/how to save it, you may lose some beautiful babies in the produce drawer.

Greenling is great!  When I'm busy and tired, the last thing I want to do is try find decent produce at the store, and while I'm at it, think ahead and get what I need for at least the next few days. With Greenling, I hop on the computer and from the luxury of my jammies, figure out what I want to cook for the week and what kind of fruit or veggies I want to snack on. Then I go to http://greenling.com and set my order.  A few days later, it shows up at the doorstep. I love it!

The people are friendly and responsive, the produce is organic and/or local, and there's a decent selection of both produce and groceries all of which are good or great quality. Prices are definitely fair, though initially I had to remind myself that they seemed higher then what I was accustomed to since it's delivery and everything is organic/local.

Thanks go to my friend Dani for making me aware of Greenling!

    Greenling Rocks!

When we moved back to Austin we regularly visited the Farmer's Market downtown and Boggy Creek Farm for local produce. It was a lot of fun but after a few weeks the novelty wore off and we lost motivation to get out of bed early on Saturday mornings. We still go to Boggy Creek on occasion but back in October I discovered I can get local, organic produce delivered to my door every week. We get the Local Box $34.99 full of seasonal fruits and veggies and add a gallon of milk to our order most weeks.

Ordering is super easy. All you do is go to http://greenling.com, and enter your zipcode to find out your delivery day. You can then choose from a variety of starter boxes, such as the Local Box, Small Box, Longhorn, Box, etc. or create your own box, picking and choosing your fruits, veggies and many other pantry staples.  Once you create your basket you can schedule delivery for several weeks in advance. You provide them with a credit card or arrange for COD and voila, in a few days (depending on your delivery day) you'll get your weekly box of produce on your front step.

What I love about Greenling is that the food is grown in and around our community and it's a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you are eating fruits and vegetables that are actually in season-your current season. I also like the idea of sustainability and supporting Texas farms. When you stop and think about it, has your produce traveled more miles than you have this past year? Eating more local foods and foods in season has given me the opportunity to try things I wouldn't normally buy on my own (I used to be a frozen veggie person) and be more adventurous in trying new and exciting recipes for the veggies in my box.

Until I can grow my own food, which I fear will be never, Greenling is my no. 1 source for veggies.  Eating local is a good thing and now easier than ever thanks to the fine folks at http://Greenling.com.

Discovered this service a bit over a year ago now and am still satisfied.

This is one of those pleasantries that everyone should partake in. Fresh, organic veggies delivered to your door every week or every other week. It is almost perfect: sometimes things go rotten before we eat them, sometimes there are bugs in the broccoli, but if that is the worst it can get, its still 5 stars.

The service is amazing if something is off and they are very attentive, which is much to say for a fledgling concept.  Their new version of their web site is much better than the old one (and the old one wasn't too bad).  I recommend this service for many reasons: having fresh stuff around inspires more healthful eating in instead of going out, they use local produce whenever possible, and they have a "surprise me" item you can add to your cart.  The "surprise me" is some random thing they pick out each week to add to your basket, you gamble two bucks and maybe youll get to learn a new veggie. They also are useful for people like me whom typically walk to the grocery, so I get my milk (the heaviest non-alcoholic thing on most shopping trips) delivered.  They also have other useful things available like local honey, local tortillas, breads, and even dog treats.

I have experimented a few times with the "Local Box" which is a $35 collection of all Local items, which is awesome when you are feeling culinarily creative, but its a bit much for me to do on a regular basis.

I recommend this to everyone as it is a fun, easy, and affordable (in general cheaper than the organics at the grocery) way to get fresh, mostly local, and organic items without all the effort normally associated with it.

We began ordering our produce through Greenling in March.  I had been trying to go organic little by little and was enticed by Greenling's "Local Box," an assortment of organic local produce that was in season.  The price was a reasonable $34 for a large plastic bin full to the brim with salad greens, kale, swiss chard, eggplant, tomatoes, squash and more!  It takes a lot to feed my family of five for a whole week, and we couldn't get through the entire box.  I had to chop and freeze quite a bit.

Not only have we been ordering Greenling's Local Box every week since, but we have also started adding their non-perishables and other items to our list like the incredible Rosemary Artisan Bread, Apricot Applesauce for the little ones, and plenty of soy milk to go around.

Thanksgiving was a real treat this year with a 13-lb organic turkey (stuffed with apples and onions from Greenling) as well as their organic stuffing, cranberry sauce, and sweet potatoes.

One last thing for those of you that are worried about the price: ordering from Greenling has cut our grocery bill by 30%!  Because they deliver only what I order, I am not enticed by in-store sales.  I also spend less time in the store and less money on gas.  We are definitely Greenling-a-holics!

If you're anything like me, you don't particularly enjoy going to the grocery store. The crowds, the over-handled produce items, the gas it takes to get there, the carts smashing into each other-- all of these things make me loathe my weekly-ish trip to HEB or Central Market to pick up essentials.

Greenling is one of those modern conveniences that not only make sense nutritionally, environmentally, and economically-- they also save a lot of headache.

Deliver fresh organic produce and grocery items to my door every week? Save me the trouble of finding a parking spot in the shade when its 100 degrees outside? Deliver milk and bread and snacks too? Sign me up! What's not to like?

Ok, now that we've been with Greenling for another month+, I have to change my review to 5 stars.  The last few boxes we've gotten have been fantastic, filled with wonderful, high-quality produce and other goodies.    I didn't get around to using those yummy looking/smelling roast peppers before they molded, though... ;(

I definitely recommend getting the Farmstead addon.  I never realized just how FANTASTIC truly fresh pasta is.  OMFG.  I was never a big pasta fan, but now I'm a convert!  And those ginger molasses cookies... NOM NOM NOM.

I'm gonna have to go to the gym more often if they keep delivering such deliciousness to me every other week!

I so want to be totally enamored with you, Greenling.  After all, your concept of delivering local grown produce to customers that place orders through a Web front end is brilliant.  I've got to tell you, though, that the thrill is (partially) gone.

I've tried your delivery services a few times now.  The first time was great.  Your site guided me to select produce that was locally grown as well as fresh and in Season.  When my first delivery arrived, all of your produce was looking good.

But then my affection for you wanned.  I let my previous order stand and, in my next delivery, the produce that you brought was not so great.  Did some items go out of season between my first and second orders?  Maybe you lost a supplier between the two orders?  I don't really know; and that's the crux of the problem:  I want more communication in our relationship!

Seriously, talk to me Greenling.  I want you to tell me when the apples in my order basket won't be so great this week and ask me if I want something else instead.  I want reminders when new fruits and veggies are in season so I can add them to my basket.

Still, though, I can't help loving you.  Or maybe just the idea of you.  I think I'll give you another chance.

    -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------

Update: Greenling was kind enough to point out that they DO have a weekly newsletter with just the kind of info that I wanted.  Now that I've scolded my email client for treating their newsletter as a scam, I'm digging on the good communication.

I hate grocery shopping, hate it. I go to Randall's or Sun Harvest and pay more just because HEB freaks me out.

This is even better, because I can get healthy essentials delivered without the grocery store angst!

I just got my first order of Greenling and am happy so far! I ordered all sorts of fruits and veggies including the "surprise me" option, pasta and couscous and some meat, as well as yummy Summer Moon coffee (a half pound for $5--that seems like a good deal) and Cliff Bars. Awesome.

The only thing is, since it is all local and organic, it's also unpredictable--they were out of kombucha (how I got turned onto them in the first place) and sausage and some other stuff, but then brought me some things that they were supposedly out of. If you can go with the flow, that's ok though.

Greenlings is just amazing. Like the Sunset Valley farmers market, it combines an affordable, pleasant, and healthy experience with the satisfaction of knowing you are shopping, largely, locally.

    Here's how it works:

Greenlings buys as many products as possible from local, organic farms: Tecalote, Anderson are two that I know of. Tecalote is so committed to organic produce when their well ran dry, they wouldn't water with city water. No kidding. Greenlings makes these products available to you online; you place an order, within a few business days greenlings delivers it. They can leave it on your porch, or with your signoff, they take a key and put it inside for you in a refrigerated conatiner.

You can buy anything from produce, to milk, dry goods, canned goods, breads, meats and even household products. They also have this nifty concept called the localbox: for about $35, each week you can get a combo of all fresh produce from local farms. This week I got fresh rasperries, tomatoes, eggs, kale, corn, romaine lettuce, basil, squash, scallions, and onions.

Their prices are pretty great for what you get.

    Excellent experience.

Was introduced to Greenling while at an event at the Barr Mansion, and it sounded like an interesting idea. The opportunity to get organic, often locally grown, produce and grocery items delivered to the house seemed like a positive for both my health and the local business community. I placed my order and waited for my first delivery.

This was back in December of 2007. Since then, every week, Greenling has been delivering to my house. I think they do a fantastic job and look forward to more and better things to come from them.

Really liking them so far.  I gave them the wrong zip code, therefore screwing my order all up, and they went out of their way to fix it, and make sure I got my food.  Even did an extra delivery because of it.

As for the shopping, I can't entirely replace my grocery shopping runs with what they offer.  If I could, I imagine I'd be a healthier person.  Anyway, I still need to grocery store for low-fat soy milk, tea, flour, noodles--that sort of thing.

I have been super impressed with this company from my first delivery.  I love everything that they stand for and their committment to supporting local vendors and farmers.  I have received 3 deliveries from them thus far (all Local Produce Boxes) and the produce has been wonderful!  Okra (who knew there was purple okra!), Meyer Lemons, enormous portobello mushrooms, fragrant basil, bell peppers, squash, zucchini, etc. the list goes on and on.  I even added some local dog biscuits to an order for my four legged companion.

I love that you can completely customize each and every delivery and also set your own delivery schedule.  It's really a dream come true to be able to take less shopping trips to the store and instead have everything delivered to you.  Did I mention that they also have farm fresh eggs, local roasted coffee, chocolates and other tempting items as well?  Its a win-win situation.

I also used their Chat Now feature on their website to talk to a Customer Servicer representative and that was super easy and I love that they have that feature for us geeks who are chained to their computer and too lazy to pick up the phone or send an email. :)

Great produce, great service, and a great idea!  Give them a try - you won't be sorry that you did.

How to put this?  Greenling Organic Delivery... I want to have your babies.  :)  Seriously, though... I love it.  I had no idea that an ORGANIC, LOCAL grocery would deliver groceries TO MY DOOR in Round Rock, TX.  So, I had to give it a shot, right?  I mean, seriously?  I may never have to step foot in the stuffy Whole Foods again.  Although, I may want to mention the price difference... oh wait, what price difference?  Whole Foods may even cost more than my delivered to me, on my doorstep, no effort on my part groceries.  sold.

These people are the real deal.  On friday evening, I recieved my greenling delivery including fresh fruits and veggies (all local) and a half galon of the most delicious milk my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of drinking (and I swore off milk about 3 months ago, oops).  Not only that, but the fruit was delicious and the veggies fresh.  Our favorite things we got from delivery #1:  milk, eggs, baby spinach, and grandma's hummus (holy crap its good).  I can't wait to try out new things next time!  So incredibly happy, I want to give them 6 stars for fullfilling my need to support the local and organic farms!  Yay for happy chickens and cows!

PS: they have a gluten-free local box, and TONS of gluten-free grocery items :)  for all my gluten-intolerant friends out there (including myself)

Nothing but great things to say about greenling. It's like a local farmers market delivered right to your door along with name brand organic goods as well. I almost never have to shop for groceries anywhere else because the food is so fresh, healthy and wonderful and I don't have to mess with long lines, finding parking or going over budget on impulse buys.
The people who work for greenling are super responsive and nice too.

Greenlings is wonderful for its local and organic products. They don't simply depend on their local status to carry them. They provide great items and great service, from delivery to costumer service. The customer service can be contacted by email, phone, or IM. They are such happy people, too!

Everyone makes a choice on where he or she is willing to spend a couple of extra dollars and my choice is on the local produce and dairy. Eating an apple that has the taste and texture of an apple or drinking a glass of milk that reminds you it originally came from cream has changed my expectations of groceries.

I have been ordering from Greenlings for about a year, off and on. I am accustom to the web site and I that I can create different types of baskets. Greenlings local boxes or even the simple "Surprise Me" bags are a great way to try something new and interesting.

There are several things I would recommend; though, I realize that these problems arise from the fact that the food is localized. One problem some of the produce in the local box aren't available for individual purchase. As a result, I miss out on lots of delicious foods. I guess it would take a lot of time and money in order to add specific icons every week for items that come and go, but maybe an email or special note on the web page about these items would work, like an icon that you can click and put a sampling of these special items into your basket, like a mini-local box. Second, when I place an order and the items are out of stock, I often don't find out until the day of delivery. Again, it is a kink resulting from local, limited products. It would be great if they could set up an alert email or put a note cautioning that this product tends to run out quickly.  My last recommendation would be to add information to each item about how many servings it provides since that amount of the items can vary. (Ounces and pounds are difficult to process when you aren't physically holding the item. Think about an ounce of spinach as compared to an ounce of zucchini.)
