We (one adult, a child and grandma) went paddle boating on a typical Seattle day but as we were readying to turn around the wind kicked up and we got stuck and no matter how much we paddled we were going nowhere. And the wind was blowing too hard to do much about it. We abandoned ship and called for reinforcement while child and grandma walked back. Another adult and lots of good Samaritans pushing from the shore were of no use. Ultimately we turned in our life jackets and they not only did not charge us for the extra time, they were gracious about us leaving them with a boat to paddle back during their work day. Nice folks and fun but avoid high winds!

Had such a fun time here! I came with two friends and we rented standing paddle boards. It cost $15/person which I thought was a bit much, but at the same time it was unique fun.
When we arrived and paid, they gave us size-appropriate life jackets and helped us adjust our oars to our heights. We walked to the water where two more employees helped us get on our boards. From there we had an hour to paddle around. So much fun!
Something I didn't really like was that you didn't have any idea how long you'd been out there-- for example, we didn't have a watch with us. What I liked about Greenlake boat rentals was they give you a 15 minute grace period in case you're a bit tardy, and in my experience they were quite lax and flexible in that regard.
I would definitely recommend renting here-great people and lots of outdoor fun! -

They have many boat options. The life jackets are relatively new and clean. The service staffs seem happy and friendly. Also, they do not round up the time for the hourly charge, which I really appreciate. They also run a little snack shop on the size. They sell super frozen ice cream bars and ice cream treats for dogs.

My roommate, her friend from Portland and I came here last weekend with the thought of Kayaking!!
We showed up, spent some time tooling around the parking lot until we got a spot and headed into the boat shack. Greeted by two college kids, we asked about the best idea for us to boat together and they suggested canoeing. The price now is about $14 per hour not including tax, per boat rental not per person. That's right, for an hour of fun we each had to spend the dismal amount of $4.60!!! Nice.
There are also options of paddle boats, reg. row boats and of course the kayaks or canoes.
Piling into the canoe with the help of another college guy, we took off on our little adventure. Trying not to tip over (well, I did rock the boat a few times to make them squeal and have a little chuckle to myself), we rowed over to that mysterious little Island in the middle of Green lake. It's cool!! I so wish I could camp there.
The staff are chill and relaxed. When bringing back the paddles and life vests, the guys just took the stuff and said enjoy the rest of your day. Casual and carefree like. I like! I'm down to do this way more often, if the homies allow me to be in their boat again. -

So fun. So chill. So easy. We rented one of the little paddle boats and cruised around the lake. Next time, we plan to bring a picnic and just enjoy it out on the water. It is really peaceful. My husband is over 6ft, so he didn't enjoy being squished in the paddle boat, but for someone on the shorter side like me, it was perfect. I think we'll take out one of the little sail boats next!

I want to be VERY clear that this is about the operation of the business of Greenlake Boat Rentals, NOT my experience while I was out on the water in the paddleboat.
I don't know how they can say they're open "11am til dusk, weather permitting" (that quote is straight from their website), and then close down their credit card machine before 6pm on a Tuesday in July when it's 85 degrees out and sunny. We got back to shore a little after 6pm and needed to pay for 1.75 hours on 3 boats ($63 they said). We couldn't use my credit card because they told us "the manager has already zeroed out the card machine". We had to bust a move all the way to the market to get cash and hurry back so they didn't close up shop with our IDs still inside. LAME LAME LAME. It's not like they weren't busy - there were still at least 6 or 7 paddle boats out on the water, one was even launching right as we were landing!
Initiating the rental was a piece of cake, and they were helpful with launching and everything. Of course we had a great time while we were tooling around the lake! But this experience of trying to settle our balance at the end of the day really harshed my groove of the fabulous time we had just spent on the water! -

This is such an enjoyable fun time.
I rent them with friends or family and we tour the lake. It's early in summer now an deasy to rent onw without standing in line. I have always had great service and encountered friendly staff. -

Sooo much fun, reasonably priced, and convenient..One drawback is that after Labor Day, they are only open during the weekends even if the weather is super nice. The staff were easygoing and helpful. Obviously, I would rent from them again since they seem to have a monopoly at Greenlake :)

I went paddleboating with my friend today, and it was a lot of fun. The boat rental guy was almost not going to let us out on the water because I was under 18. It was a bit expensive -- 14$ for an hour so 7$ a person -- but Greenlake is such a pretty park and the day was so beautiful I felt it was worth every penny!

This is simply a must do if you have little ones around, if you want to get some excercise, or if you just want to float about the lake alone. At approx $12/hr it is cheaper than a movie or even a few latte's, really. If you get a paddle boat I suggest the one's with the yellow seats... the blue are really hard to peddle and when you get to the middle of the lake and have to come back you will feel it in your thighs the next day!

The absolute best, most affordable way to have fun on greenlake during the summer. $14 for an hour of paddleboating! they are so nice, chill, fun, relaxed... it really was such a blast, we can't wait to get a huge group together to go enjoy actually being ON the lake, not just running around it!
