Watsonville, CA
GVG is really the only place in Watsonville you can get a nice fancy meal. I usually enjoy their steaks and pancetta prawns and whatever fish they are happen to have on special for the evening. They have the tastiest Cosmopolitans too! I've had a lot of great memories here. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they had to change the location and I liked the old location better.
The new location is unfortuantely too small and too loud. My husband and I took his parents in October on a weekends and it was so busy. Plus, they ran out of half the food, including the desert!
Still I really enjoy this place and hope it stays around for a long long time. -
Review from Megan P.
Went here yesterday for drinks and lunch. They're open from 2-4pm for appetizers and burgers before dinner Saturday and Sunday. My boyfriend got the oysters and I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his oysters and the mango salsa that they used as garnish. My cheeseburger was really good and I really liked the flavor of the cheddar they used. The fries were decent too for being shoestring style. I would definitely order it again. I would like to come back and try their dinner entrees and see how that fares.
As for the drinks, my boyfriend enjoyed his bloody mary and ordered 3 of them! I had a tequila sunrise which was decent as well. I would definitely come back again for drinks and lunch.
Ps: They do have booths. :)
Pps: They seem to have a decent amount of regulars so that has to say something. -

I've had dinner at their old locale a few times and never had any complaints but recently had dinner at their new location and to be honest was not impressed with the layout.
There were no booths that I could see and the place has a lunchroom feel. The old place seemed a bit more upscale and had an ambiance to it.. Staff was very friendly and food was very good. Service however was very slow for the relatively small number of customers who were there at the time. I shudder to think of the wait time if they were packed.
I would probably go there again but it has definitely dropped down a few notches from what used to be my top 10 list. -

Watsonville, CA
Best restaurant in Watsonville, but new location is a step down. Old location had a very intimate feel: new location is trying to put nice furnishings in a diner. Food remains very good (if tad rich), service remains too slow (you need to budget at least 1-1/4 hours to get through lunch because dishes take forever to get out of the kitchen when they are busy). The waitstaff is very good and helpful, but can't speed up the kitchen. Previously, I was always happy to take friends and business associates here as the location was so nice, but with the new "lunchroom" feel, I probably won't be visiting as often.... ;(

This place has gone downhill since it moved. Front door opens to a large room full of tables. Zero privacy. You can hear the street noise every time the front door opens.
I asked for a wine list and the response was "We do not have a wine list, we just serve whatever Ray finds on sale" I ask for a bar menu "We no longer have a bar menu-but you can order the food that was on the menu" Guess they do not want to sell you a $10.00 sandwich and force you to buy an overpriced entree. Not good for just stopping by for a glass of wine and a sandwich on my way home. The bar area is a lot smaller and you can watch tv behind you on tiny crappy screens. If you stop by, make sure to say hi to Ray, the owner. He is there every night drinking way to much and just being to cool for this crappy place. I used to stop by once or twice a week for a drink and dinner. NEVER AGAIN ! -

Whittier, CA
This is a nicer option for the small town of Watsonville. The new location is better but the decor seems a little confusing. Of course most people wouldn't focus on that. The prices are pricier than your average local restaurant but the food is good and so is the service. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a nice quiet meal. I recommend the gnocchi because the sauce they use is really delicious. Their steak options are also really good. If you're looking for a lively atmosphere while having your meal, this is probably not your place.

Went there for work meeting today and had the special " wood grilled escolar", a white fish from Fiji, as the waitress described. I felt it was healthier than sliders (not a great dish from the chef, though).
Well, after feeling ill (stomachache, gas, wanting to throw up) from 3 pm on, I googled the "escolar", that exotic white fish from Fiji. CHECK IT OUT!!!!! The results are not surprising, considering the symptoms, but very alarming if anything else!!! Oh what I would do for that information before ordering my meal!!! I called them and asked "are you still serving the escolar for dinner? __ohhh, it's our special!!!' she said. Then I asked her "are you telling your guests what they're facing later on after the meal is eaten?" Her answer: "Oh, but it s NOT BANNED in the United States"!!!"
Is that what they think? as long as the fish isn't BANNED, it's OK? (and considering the consequences of this "escolar", also called "butterfish", it's really not something you want to bring up with your coworkers the next day!) I might have to change sheets during the night, but hey, if it's not banned, I guess this grill can serve it and feel good about it? This fish is probably cheap, considering the difficulties of serving it in regular or big portions, and offering it at 15 dollars must make them money...1 Previous Review: Show all »

This is the very best place in Watsonville, I promise.
I was here with a group group of 11 people and everyone was deeply satisfied and appreciatory.
One thing lends itself to this area, It is where the vast majority of california grows it's produce. Driscolls strawberries as well as many other place . If you haven't heard of it I suggest you pick up a box of strawberries and look at the label.
That being said it is in a incredibly earthy, well decorated upscale room on the second floor of a building in a parking lot off green valley.
The oysters were amazing, the halibut was incredible, I also tried the tuna and the salmon. The salmon was by far the best, it was very fresh tasting and incredibly flavorful. The polenta had an incredible cheese flavor.
All the vegetable dishes were magnificent and highly enjoyable as side orders.
The whole experience and every aspect of the meal was marvelous.
One look at the menu which is spectacular should do you in.....

oooh, butter braised lobster tail and new york steak with roasted garlic, gorgonzola and mushroom butter with two sides. Gotta try that and the cornmeal crusted catfish next time -

Watsonville, CA
"The Grill" use to be the best restaurant in town. Unfortunately since the business moved locations to Main Street everything about The Grill has gone downhill. The service is terrible (spent 2 hours at the restaurant, 30 min intervals between courses), the building itself is horrible, and the wine list....well all I have to say is what wine list.
Because the building is so small they have minimal options with seating so they have decided to cram a bunch of tables and chairs together in a brightly lit area. You literally have to suck it in to squeeze by the tables to get to your seat which as you can imagine does not offer any privacy for a nice intimate meal. Once seated you will discover that the table is so low you have to hunch over to eat your meal. When you finally receive your meal you will notice that it has been sitting around for awhile, the steaks are fatty, and the flavor is just not the same; however the prices are (pd $100 for a glass of cheap wine, 2 dinners, and 2 desserts).
Very disappointing and sad....needless to say we will not be dining here again. Unfortunately we will have to make the drive out of town for a good steak and glass of wine. -

Watsonville, CA
GVG restaurant use to be one of Watsonville best kept secrets although with the new location came many new unwarranted changes. Since it opened I have dinned there 3 times and found issues everytime I dined there. The three categories I will review, Food, Ambiance, and Service.
FOOD, use to be a four star category and has dropped down to a 3 star. My dinner was late, the fillet mignon was overcooked, to top it off the creme brulee had a hair in it.
AMBIANCE use to be 4 star category, the old place was a hidden venue, where you could escape from the rest of the Watsonville, the tables had sectional where one could have a private conversation, the booths were not so open and the noise was filtered. Now the ambiance dropped to a 2, the change in locations has brought many people coming in to dine. The dress attire has decreased from people wearing sweats, inappropriate torn attire and more. What once use to be a semi dressy-casual wear venue has changed to a place where one can wear their outerwear.
SERVICE use to be 4 star and now it has increased to a 4.5 star. This is what saved the dinning experience. the last 3 times that I have dined the waiters have brought me back, Great customer service and service recovery. Richard and Maggie have done an excellent job in making sure things were corrected immediately, attentativeness, pleasant, entertaining and pesonable were a few customer service implementations that convinced me to come back. I would recommend this place if you are looking to get a A-ok dinning experience. -

Santa Cruz, CA
Pretty good food but nothing to knock your socks off. The main drag was that we did not see out dinner until an hour after we sat down. I guess that would have been ok on that particular evening but the decor was really boring and I was not drinking any wine that evening. It was a good meal and our dinner dates picked up the bill but it is not a place I will likely return.

ok lets just get this outta the way right from the beginning: THE SERVICE IS HORRID. It has been like this since well....forever. I dont know why and will probably never know why. Its just the way it is. As long as you go expecting to take a full 2 hours to complete your meal you wont be disappointed.
Now onward...the food. It never disappoints. When they first moved to their new location the food tasted "off". I attributed it to getting to know a new kitchen and new stove and gave them another chance. Luckily things have improved and things taste better than ever. The bread is always soft and delicious and dont ever I mean EVER eat a meal here without A) blue cheese crumbles on your salad and/or B) Au Grautin (sp?)Potatoes. They are worth the visit alone. -

Watsonville, CA
I'm an occassional diner, usually attend for work lunches. With that said I can only comment on my lunch for today. I ordered the Ahi Sandwhich which was my favorite and got the sweet potato fries. They changed the bread the sanwhich was on, I think it used to be a franchese roll and now it's something that has poppyseeds on it. The avocado salsa is a bit different also. Fries and fixings were as usual (lettuce, tomato). They are minor changes but really changed the taste of the meal for me personally but still a tasty lunch. A downfall was that they used to include their fresh bread and butter with their to go orders. I don't know if that policy has changed or that it just was forgotten this time, or only offered if asked for. Last but not least the parking is AWFUL!!!!!!! It was sometimes difficult to park at their old location and that was sharing a huge parking lot with lots of offices. The only option is side street parking in front and it fills up fast . There are about 5 spots in the driveway of the shared parking they have with a cheap Watsonville hotel. The neighboring businesses which are a bank and a very GOOD cafe called Cowboys Corner Cafe have tow away spots so don't even think about parking there. Carpooling is the key word if you want to make it there with a group of people. Seating pretty wide open inside, noise level has gone up, and decor just as basic as it was before which was clean and not overly fussy. Staff was nice and efficient for my pick up order but be prepared for some changes.

OMG the worst service EVER! Friday night, sitting in the bar and wanting to spend $. Waiter (older white male w/grey hair) got our drink order wrong, and hardly checked in on us. I understand it's a NEW location, but always put your best foot forward. Food service was long for appetizers, other tables were getting faster service. The GVG platter was sloppy, and the calamari was not fresh, but frozen. We then wanted to order the Kobe sliders which they were sold out of at 6pm...really? Sadly disappointed and hoped their new location would have meant awesome experience, instead it's just another lack luster experience with cheap wine...and I mean cheap. I could have scrapped together a better wine list from Trader Joes. SAD!. Service for 4 people was a FAIL though the waiter at the end after seeing us jocky for other waiters tried to save his tip. Too little too late. You guys suckered $120 bucks out of us, and the last time that happens.

I am boycotting this place. It was one of the only places to go in Watsonville. I would go there with at least 8-10 friends/co-workers at a time and you'd think they'd appreciate the business. Nope. Because we don't drink we were pretty much shunned. Service very, very slow. (Painfully slow) Also, my employee got a pasta with pesto and it was terrible. He sent it back and they stirred it around and brought it back out. He ended up not eating anything but bread because it takes so long to get a meal that we were unwilling to wait.
The waiter would not remove the meal from the bill, so we called the manager. The manager was very snotty and said that he would go out of his way to remove 1/2 of the bill because, technically, he did eat some of it. (He had to taste it to know it was bad!)
I'd been going there for years and bringing large groups. Never again. Unless this place changes owners, they have lost my business for life. -

This is a great place to go to if you want the hosts to look down their noses at you. First of all Aqua net is out and so are stretch pants. You work at GVG, yes it's supposed to be "upscale" but its not. You are above Planned Parenthood with a nice view of Home Depot, get over yourself.
Also, I ordered a steak medium well and it was delivered RAW! I could see pink even before i cut into it. I sent it back and 5minutes later it was returned cold with the same little pool of blood right on top. So basically the cook just let it sit on the plate in the kitchen for a bit and didn't bother throwing it on the grill. I wasn't going to notice this? I ate my salad and took the steak home, cooked it myself. -

This restaurant has closed its Penny Lane facility and will reopen soon at what was briefly Bagel Cafe (and before that was Lorene's Packing Shed) on Main Street. I believe their opening date is August 1, 2011.

I'm so glad there's a restaurant in Watsonville that I never get tired of going to. Everything on the menu here is good. I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered. Once again, it is in a weird building, but sitting next to the window and being able to see the Home Depot parking lot makes up for it, right?
The food isn't fancy-pants, but its delicious. I'm especially fond of the ribs and the tuna steak. You MUST order your dishes with a side of the potatoes au gratin. They're cheesy, melt in your mouth good. If you're a fan of potatoes (like me), get the potato skins for an appetizer. They are gargantuan. They give you a ton and the rest of the potato goes into the lovely au gratin.
As for dessert I always get the creme brulee and share. It comes in a soup bowl!
The service here is great and the food and drinks are reasonably priced. Get your order in before 6:15 and you'll get a better price as an early bird special. -

The food here is delicious. I agree with the others that the building is strange, but don't let it fool you. Plus, you can run errands before or after your meal if you need to refill your birth control/get dialysis, whatever.
The food is very grill-ish, if that's even a word. Don't come expecting gourmet fancy dishes. Come expecting gourmet grilled food that will knock your tastebuds off. Dinner can be a bit pricey but if you come before 6 or 7 you can nab the early bird special for a more affordable price. -

San Francisco, CA
Two stars because we got free desert and the bread was amazing! But other than that, this restaurant isn't all that great, their services was decent but the food came really slow. I ordered a prime rib and apparently it was the last piece of the night and it's been pre-made to be medium, and then later medium well done, but when it finally came it was pretty well done! It tasted nothing like a decent piece of prime rib, what a waste! Also, we waited for 20 minutes for our plates to be picked up while our waitor was sitting down talking to some couple.
This place is not what it's hyped up to be at all... -

Santa Cruz, CA
Our family used to patron here frequently for special occasions (about 5-6 times a year). This year, on my mother's birthday, we had our usual dinner at the Green Valley Grill. When my father charged his credit card to pay for dinner, he wrote in the total with a 20% tip for the waiter even though we only had mediocre service.
Later when he got his credit card bill in the mail, it said that he had tipped the waiter over $100, about a 80% tip. He called the GVG for a week straight and no one would answer any of his questions. He called the credit card company and they told him he must have made a mistake on this receipt.
We believe that our waiter acted with greed and unethically fudged some numbers. Because of the GVGs failure to deal with our family respectfully or confront the waiter we had, we no longer patron here.
--The food is fine, or else we wouldn't have enjoyed it so much in the past, but beware of the uppity male waiters-- WE WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. -

San Jose, CA
I work here in Wat-son, so I've been visiting this place almost weekly for lunch. After several visits, it seems that the hostess and servers are getting to know me and I don't feel that weird vibe I was feeling in the beginning anymore. After all, this place is pretty hoity-toity, fancy-shmancy looking and what would someone like myself be doing here (discrimination!!!)? I remember the second time I came here, I rode on my bike (about 2.5 miles), so I had the whole exercised look going on. I arrived right at 11:30, so there was no one around yet, it had just opened for lunch. The hostess picks up a seating chart (no one's there, mind you), looks down at it and then around several times, and then stuffs me in a back booth. How about that window I was seated by last time? It looks pretty empty, as do the other dozen tables with the view! Minus two stars for that.
The food itself is pretty delicious, fresh and the bread is really soft. So far I've had several of the salads, tortilla soup, polenta lasagna (MMM), and pasta. Pricing is ok, I suspect they are nicer now because they know I'm not there to dine and ditch. I pay for my meal and give them a nice tip too. Who would've guessed?
**The place sits above Planned Parenthood and a dialysis place, so the hoity-toityness is a bit unassuming, until you're there and its too late. The eyes are already on you. -

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Everything on the menue is great. Everyone in my family gets both kinds of oysters and says they are great but I have never had them. They are known for their Tortilla soup which is really good but very spicey. I love there patatoe skins!!! oh my god you have to have them. I have not had anything else on the menu but everyone in my family always wants to go back so the main dishes must be good two.
Word to the wise the air conditioner works over time so you will need a jacket and they put the lights down fairly low so if you have trouble seeing your menu in the dark then be carful.
This resturant is in a weird location cause it is next to a pland parenthood building and it is surounded by offices but once you get in there the ambiance is really nice -

I love the GVG! It is the only spot with American style food in Watsonville that is on the upscale side of things. The Wooden Nickel up the street does American style food, but not the kind of place we'd have a 50th anniversary party for the grandparents, as we have at GVG. GVG has been my family's go to restaurant for special occasions. I go there for those and lunch, dinner, drinks at the bar, and pretty much any opportunity I get.
I would highly suggest getting the early bird specials. I think it goes from 5 to 6, but double check. They have many of their popular dishes available, just a hint smaller and a lot cheaper. I honestly haven't found anything here that I didn't like. The tortilla soup is awesome, their salads are always good, their ribs are off the chain, skirt steak is good, and The Pajaro Pie may cause orgasmic responses.
People have been complaining about GVG's service on here. One person even gave it one star because they felt that a certain business down the street that has apple in their name has more personable service! The GVG treats us like family and while service has been a little slow (probably because we have a 12 person party lol) on a rare occasion, it's always with good reason. What a lot of people like to conveniently forget, is that sometimes you can be working as hard as you can and when the cook's in the weeds or there are some extenuating circumstances, you just can't go any faster.
I love Mexican food, but that is pretty much all Watsonville has to offer (besides fast food). When I need a break, this is where I go. I would say it is in my top 3 favorite restaurants in all over SC county. Go for lunch, go for drinks, or go for dinner. Just go! -

Don't let the fact it shares a building with a Planned Parenthood, Dialysis Clinic, and other medical offices scare you off.
The food is phenomenal! I have never had an average meal here, everything is always stellar. To me consistency is one of the most important things in a restaurant and GVG has it.
The creme brulee is HUGE...they serve it in a soup bowl. -

I definitely have to agree with Anthony J - the building area can be a bit strange for those who haven't eaten here before. The food is always excellent, and they give large portions. (I absolutely LOVE their pasta jimmy)

Major props to this place - the best in the county! I am a foodie and go to lots of restaurants. It is the only place in town with white linens and a great bar. The service is nothing to brag about, needs improvement, but it doesn't stop me from coming back time and time again.
The cocktails are excellent and the wine list is decent. The steaks are well prepared. The potaoes au gratin are the best i have ever had and the salads are great. Creme brulee is off the hook! My favorite pasta dish is the pasta jimmy. Have never had a bad dish here in 10 years.
Very family friendly place. Children's plates are just as good. My girls love to get dressed up and go here for dinner. A nice treat for a birthday, business meeting, or just for working hard. My hubbie and i love this place - no need to drive north to Capitola or Santa Cruz for overpriced food.
Affordable and excellent food! And, yes, "it's ALL the way in Watsonville." Thank goodness - we like it this way. One of the best in Santa Cruz County! -

Santa Cruz, CA
I was afraid to bring my family here after reading the horrible reviews. This is the only upscale place in town so after a formal event we decided to give it a try. We made a huge mistake! We arrived at 8pm and were rushed to order. After 55 minutes the salad arrived and the food 15 mins later. When the food arrived I mentioned to the waiter that the wait was long. He replied that they were busy closing the and finishing up for the night (they were still seating people when he says this), our waters were not refilled, no "how is your meal". When it was time for desert we were told we didn't have enough time.
In the end the food was average at best and the service us rude. They are in located in a crummy building next to Home Depot and Planned Parenthood so they need to drop the snotty routine.
Go ahead and drive the extra 15 minutes to Bitter Sweet Bistro in Aptos for better food and ambiance at the same price. -

Santa Cruz, CA
This is one of the very best places in Santa Cruz County to eat. I have eaten here regularly for at least 15 years. This restaurant is my family's regular dining spot. I have never had a bad meal here. The food is excellent, no matter what you choose off their impressive menu. My person personal favs(recommended): the ribs, the skirt steak, and the salmon. As far as the side dishes with your dinner, you may have a hard time deciding whether you like the potatoes or the baked polenta more. My mouth is actually salivating while I am writing this. They have a very impressive selection of wine. The desserts are delicious but be prepared to share! There is also a full bar(separate from the dining area) that hosts live music on certain nights.
Sure it's on the pricey side; but it is a nice restaurant. Most dinners are somewhere between 15 and 20something dollars, but they also do have a filet Mignon and lobster tail combo(around $35) that is to die for(I order this every year for my bday dinner)You can always try the early bird specials that start somewhere around $10 if you get there by 5(or sometime around there!). There are also great lunch specials.
Since it has great food, it does gets packed, so I strongly recommend reservations(especially if you have more than 4 people in your party). Sometimes I do feel that the food takes a long time to get to me, but all is forgotten by the time the food comes. Order an appetizer, I recommend a house salad, which comes with most dinners anyways(with caramelized walnuts- yummy!) or try the homemade tortilla soup. This place can get really busy, but it is adequately staffed. The waitstaff is well mannered and well groomed, which can be a breath of fresh air considering some places in SC.
Don't let the fact that this place is in Watsonville fool you. If you are looking for a nice dinner, you have to give this place a try; you won't be disappointed. -

Worst service ever. The food was good. But I felt like we were being served by a used car salesman. He even forgot our order...the table next to us, double in size of guests, got their food at least ten minutes before us and came in 20 minutes after us. When we asked our server where our food was he just snapped his fingers and said out loud: "Oops, I forgot." If I wasn't with my co-workers I would have walked out. People make mistakes, but this guy was horrible. He probably would have been a semi-decent server if he wasn't trying to hit on our whole table - extremely unprofessional and even more irritating.

My bf took me here for a surprise date and I loved it!
I will admit I was a little turned off by the building, idk why it's above Planned Parenthood! For the quality and price they should be able to afford a nicer building, but the food is what's important and it was amazing!
We sat in the bar, and although the music was a little loud we received excellent service! The food was amazing! I had the clam chowder, calamari, and the special which was lobster and shrimp cakes omg!!!!! I had to take it home but it reheats great! This food is like an orgasm in your mouth! Last time I had food this good it was in Vegas! I will definitely be coming back here again! -

I have been going to the Green Valley Grill ever since I could remember, and it has always shined. Everything from their Mother's day brunches to my annual birthday dinner there is always AMAZING. The quality in service is above the standard in Santa Cruz County for nicer end resaurants. What makes it even better is that a lot of the same people still work there after several years. This shows 2 things... 1 - The staff is happy where they work. And 2 - This shows the success of the GVG. What makes GVG even a notch higher is that the owner often comes to the tables and asks how the meal is going... not just to check up on his restaurant, but because he actually cares about your experience there. This to me is priceless. Now lets get to the food. I have no complaints about the food... EVER... end of discussion. If something wasn't right when i ordered it, it was fixed within minutes. The food is always hot and fresh and the specials are always a treat as well. The last bit i want to comment on is the bartending. Although slow at times, the bartenders at GVG take care of you. The drinks taste very good but will kick your butt!!!
All in all the Green Valley Grill will always have a place in my heart for the wonderful service and the amazing food. Definitely not something you'll find anywhere else in Santa Cruz County. -

Now, I am unsure if my food standards are too high, or if people are just high, but 5 stars??? Are you kidding me??
I give it 1 star, as the service took fooooorrrrreeeeevvvvvveeeeerrrr. When I was looking for the waiter, he was SITTING DOWN WITH ANOTHER COUPLE!! No, I am not joking. He was sitting, just chatting away, as if he didn't have a job to do...
I ordered the filet. I could have made this thing for half the price, twice as fast, and three times better. I am an avid steak house eater, and this piece of meat didn't hold a torch to the filet's I have had at other locations that cost much less.
The bread was amazing. That was for sure. While we were waiting 40 minutes for our meal, we were laughing at if we could order a loaf of bread could be an entree...as they ask if we wanted bread 4 times!
They did give us a desert. The desert was half decent, but the only reason they gave this to us, was because they told us they had no more prime rib, just to give the table next to us 15 minutes later a piece of medium rare prime rib (apparently they ordered before hand, but not according them...)
This was the second time I have visited this place. The first time was at lunch, and I ordered an avocado cheeseburger. It was so gross, I could not finish it.
I'm sorry, I love food, and am open to a lot of stuff, but I gave this place one try, and it failed. I gave it one more try, and I tried it for dinner, and I must say, it was horrible...honestly, they should be very happy I went with any stars...
And for the location. All I can say is it is above a dentist office, requires a three flight walk, or elevator, and when I sat down, I looked over and saw paint chippings around a window, which was centered by a Home Depot parking lot. I would have rather no windows, and some pictures that complemented the background. Horrible location, horrible building, just horrible... -

By far the best ribs in Watsonville. The service is always great, gets crowded sometimes, but well worth it. I dont like that it's right above Planned Parenthood (really?) but I guess that can be overlooked. Salmon is great, all the appetizers are excellent. I also come to the bar sometimes, and it's fun on friday nights when they have live bands playing. It's def. something to do in Watsonville.

Not a huge fan, food is not really worth the price.

When we want to have a fancy-pants meal without leaving town, Green Valley Grill is where we go; in fact, it's the ONLY fancy-pants restaurant in town. I've never been disappointed by anything I've eaten here and all the grilling is done over oak. The wait staff is friendly and helpful and they have a great wine selection. We even had our family Thanksgiving here a few years ago. My favorite dish is the catfish and hominy, but the oak-grilled salmon can't be beat either. If I have one complaint, it's that the portions are HUMONGOUS, so if you go, go hungry!!!

Green Valley Grill consistently delivers a great dining experience. I have been going with my family to the GVG over the past 5-6 years and have yet to be disappointed. A cozy, family friendly atmosphere, a great bar (we always arrive before our reservation to enjoy a drink at the bar) and live music make this place one of my favorites.
Green Valley Grill is definitely worth the trip to Watsonville. If it's your first time, arrive early to enjoy the bar and some live music. The appetizers are great and you absolutely must try their polenta. I recommend the baby back ribs, you won't be sorry.
