Green Papaya is located on the Northside of Jacksonville, in that mini town center "wanna be" near the airport. This is good place to go when you are looking for really good Asian Cuisine when you are in the Northside area. Since I work in the area, I try to stop by for lunch or dinner every now and then.
They do have lunch specials here. I do not remember what the hours are for their lunch specials, but it is a good deal for the amount of food you get.
Food has been great with great portions (lunch & dinner), and the service here has been excellent. They come around and make sure your drinks are topped off, and to see if you have any concerns with anything.
I have brought several friends and co workers to this restaurant, and now they are introducing Green Papaya to their friends.
I highly recommend Green Papaya. -

Forget Green Papaya is situated in the unfortunate River City Marketplace. Once you walk in, you forget you're there from the modern decor and tranquility. Please move closer to Riverside.
My date and I started with the Crispy Fried Tofu, which was lightly fried, not oily and silky. It just melted as soon as we bit into it. The accompanying sweet and sour sauce complemented the tofu well and the textures of the breading and tofu were wonderful.
Since my date had only had Thai once in SoFla, we studied the menu of favorites and settled on the Mango Chicken and Amaaaaaazing Curry.
The Mango Chicken, featuring tender and succulent chicken boobies, also contained generous amounts of mango, onions, peppers, baby corn and carrots. Add the mango sauce and spiciness and we were the two happiest gay guys at our table.
The Amazing Curry we ordered was with beef. The beef, like the chicken, was tender and flavorful. The peanut curry sauce was, well, peanut-y and curry-y and beautifully tasty. The coconut milk added just the right amount of sweetness and richness. The spinach was a healthy dark green and with the bite of fresh spinach and the broccoli was steamed just right, retaining its crunch and flavor.
We opted for both kinds of rice. The brown rice was nutty and still had enough bite (i.e., cooked properly) and the fragrant jasmine rice, always a sure bet, was aromatic and just how I remember my sticky rice to be. Mmmmm!
Our server was attentive and helped choose the right level of spiciness. Not wanting to make my date cry, we settled for level 2 which was just enough for him. I, on the other hand, didn't suffer from mouth burns or snot drips, but I sure broke a sweat after the first two bites. WTF?!
Green Papaya, we are coming back!Listed in: What New American Means to Me:…

Easily my favorite restaurant in Jacksonville. Professional staff, clean dining area and restrooms, friendly but not in your face friendly. Oh and the food. Freakin phenomenal. They have a dish called the Amazing and it really is just that. Simple but certainly amazing. I usually he the Amazing when I go because it is that good but I've branched out to a few other dishes just to have a better basis from which to tell my friends this is where to eat on the Northside.
A very close second and on some days may jump to first is the Millhouse, but the Green Papaya makes me smile just thinking about it! -

Wow. Upscale fancy bistro in a huge shopping center with other big franchise restaurants. Great service. Beautiful decor. Very good Thai food. One of my favorites. Party of 6 traveling thru Jax. We enjoyed everything. You wont be disappointed.

Food is still delicious-but they've adjusted their spices, so now a 3 is comfortable, but hot. 1 or 2 would be relatively mild.

We were driving south from Va. Beach to Naples and stopped in Jacksonville to spend the night. We found Green Papaya and had the most delicious dinner. The reviews on Yelp definitely did the restaurant justice. We had the Pad Thai with shrimp and the Green Curry with chicken. The curry had just the perfect amount of spice and the brown rice had a great bite to it. We each had a glass of wine, each in its proper glass for red and white and it was a nice healthy pour at great prices. The restaurant is located in a huge shopping complex. Don't be scared away by that it is definitely worth stopping in.

We were disappointed. The reviews are so good I expected a lot more. I guess others had a better experience then me and also think since north jax as slim pickings it is better then a lot of other restaurants in the area. I will say I have eaten at many Asian fusion restaurants, Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese restaurants in Orlando. The portions were small then we are use too and service was also poor.

Stayed at the Springhill Suites by the Airport, and they are nice enough to drop you off at the local shopping area (for free)! So, I was so excited to see the fabolous reviews of Yelp so I had to try out the Green Papaya.
The waiter was extremely friendly, helped us pick out exactly how spicy our dishes should be based on our needs, and made great recommendations. I went with the green curry and it was to die for (really). An empty plate speaks for itself. And, the presentation was great - the plate was "pretty" and tasty too. The server was attentive and friendly.
I also loved the decor, it wasn't your usual inexpensive dining chairs and tables (plastic and tarnished metal) that you find tightly jammed packed in some eateries. But, a calm tranquil retreat with a fountain and cool glass tables and chairs! Definitely a nice place to take a date (tucked away in a shopping center).
The next time, I'm in Jacksonville I'll be going back. -

What a delicious little asian restaurant tucked away in a shopping center!
Stopped in for lunch and got the beef in a peanut sauce (forgot the name exactly but it was their specialty). The sauce was incredible and I requested it with brown rice. I would definitely eat here again if in the area, especially for lunch.
The service was super friendly and attentive, and very sensitive to the fact that we had time constraints. -

Great find in chain store hell, thanks to yelp! I had the fried tofu, which was yummy with enough peanut sauce. Based on the reviews, I had to try the amazing curry. It was good, but the medium spice was weak. I should have gone with four or five stars. The service was good, though not perfect. The thai tea was excellent with free refills. I will return often as I am in Jacksonville often for work.

A brilliant mixture of Asian cuisine. I have had the mango chicken and the amazing curry, both have been remarkably fresh and flavorful. The decor and atmosphere goes so wonderfully with the dishes that I tend to forget I am dining in a strip mall.

Beautiful presentation of traditional Thai dishes plus unusual menu items for Thai cuisine like Basil Lamb. Great service, too. Do not miss this gem of a restaurant quietly dishing up consumable art under the shadow of chain food mills like Olive Garden and Chili's.

Good food, but dimly lit dining room. Wife and I have popped in several times. Massaman curry was excellent, but the beef tasted like teriyaki jerky. Pad Thai was very good. App sampler has a good range of items, but $12 is a bit much for San app. One of the better Thai places in Jade.

Wow... Let me start by saying that when it comes to thai food, I'm very selective with restaurants. I wish this place was around the corner from my place in Miami... Just something to keep in mind. I ordered the 3rd level hot/spice (out of 5) with my dish and it had a nice kick, so for those of you that can't handle spice that well, be careful. I like spicy food so I'm sure I can go up to level 5 and get a nice sweat. Other than that, it was amazing.

I stopped in here got lunch before my flight since it's so close to the airport. The decor was nice and the hostess was very nice.
I ordered Panang Curry which is usually the standard at which I compare all Thai restaurants. The curry was actually pretty good and the portion size was great! It was definitely shareable. I liked that it had sprinkles of peanuts on top which added some nice texture.
I will also add that their "medium" spicy level was really a medium. I can't tell you how many places I've been to where medium was actually mild... or bland, which is worse!
Anyway, I've been to a lot of Thai places and this is a good one. Too bad I live across the country... -

Nice little restaurant with an upscale flair. Not exactly what I expected when I first walked through the door. The service was great and so was the food (although I liked my wifes's menu choice better than my own), the decor is hip and modern.
Definitely no Ying's Chinee Takee Outee. -

Went back to Green Papaya this past Friday night. It's been a while since I last visited them (when they first opened). All I remembered was that the decor was beautiful and modern and the food was surprisingly good.
We decided to go to Green Papaya because a friend of ours have never been. And we wanted to have dinner and catch a movie there, so it was a perfect choice. I am happy to say that the restaurant did not disappoint and impressed my friend as well.
We ordered: Green Papaya Sampler to share, Beef Thai Fried Rice,
Shrimp Pad Thai, Fresh Ginger with Beef, Chicken Panang Curry. My husband and I love spicy food and asked for 5 stars on the 1-5 scale. The Ginger Beef and Panang Curry chicken still weren't spicy enough, but that was easily solved with extra side dish of chili pepper sauce. Although the food didn't "wow'd" us, everything was delicious. Combined with friendly service and nice atmosphere, makes this a solid 4 star dining experience for me. -

Hubby and I go here at least once a week. For one, this restaurant is clean, bathrooms are clean, tables are clean, floor is clean....I think if I were to head into the kitchen, it would be clean also.
Chicken Pad Thai is one of our favorites. Did you know you can get this dish with zero to 5 'heat factor?' Also, the ginger salad dressing on the ginger salad is fabulous!
The prices are very reasonable and its right across the street from the River City movie theater and right next to Yogurt City!

I am compelled to write a review: Fantastic food and above-&-beyond service. Spring roll app w/ fresh mint leaves and sizzling (literally) steak teriyaki dinner were both outstanding. As a business traveler, i can say that this is a good place for solo or otherwise. Atmosphere is trendy/upscale. A place worth trying!

Shout out to SF's elite Hazel Nutella for driving down to the River City to check this place out. You are hella fun!
The food was awesome here. I just ate at a different Thai place in town last night but it didn't even measure up to this spot.
I ordered the Amazing, which is indeed Amazing. It comes in a peanut curry coconut milk sauce, with broccoli and spinach, and your choice of chicken, beef, pork or tofu.
The scale goes from 1-10 in hotness. I ordered the same 4 stars of hotness like Hazel Nutella, but alas, it was on borderline too much for me. Hahah Next time I'm getting it 3 stars of hotness.
Good thing I was drinking Thai Tea (Asian tea almost always has milk in it) and attacking that delicious brown rice.
The decor is upscale and classy, so you kind of forget you are in Jacksonville. Definitely a romantic date spot. But I'd be down to come back here with anybody.Listed in: Because of Yelp

When I lived on Amelia Island, this was the place we had to stop at when going to Jax on I-95. When I went back to visit & my friend picked me up at the airport, this was our first stop. Some of the best curry I have had. Their lunch specials are great & service-the server actually remembered me as a regular even though we'd moved away over a year before. Guess that shows how often we went since it was so good.
In fact, this is where I had taken him for his birthday lunch when we lived there & since I had told the server I was doing that, she personally ordered him a cake from a Thai bakery in town, picked it up & paid for it herself!! She told me she was ordering it, but didn't tell me she wasn't putting it on our check. Now that is memorable. I did give her a really nice tip that time. But just wanted fellow Hellers to know, this is a great place. Even the decor is upscale & comfortable. There is nothing I could think of negative of this place even if I try. Except that it is too far away since we've moved, but I can't blame them on that. -

Been there several times with many others and the meals have always been great. They will make it as spicy as you like. I have had lamb, chicken pineapple in a full pineapple, seafood medley. Other people have had sizzling steak, chicken, vegetable and many more dishes. Always a good meal. Nice glass tables and friendly staff.

Unexpected delightful surprise, as we were staying nearby only to catch a flight. We checked this place out beacuse we were afraid that we'd have to go to a chain restaurant, and this place is an oaisis in the middle of a sea of them. The peanut sauce is fantastic, as is the curry. The service was also stellar. Wonderful and highly recommended.

I usually run away from any place that says "pan Asian" but we went here for a work lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good! There seems to be mostly Chinese and Thai dishes or a mixture of both. Many of their dishes seem to spell out what kind of flavors and spices are in each, from where you choose what kind of... hmmm, protein... you want. Chicken, beef, pork, tofu, etc.
I had the basil dish with chicken, after considering what they called "The Amazing". I opted not to go for The Amazing because I was afraid I would be let down by all the hype. I mean, if it's called "The Amazing" it better be freakin amazing, man. I'll save that for another day.
Decor was clean, bordering on cheesy modern Asian theme, but who cares, the food was pretty good. -

Well, I finally made it out to this restaurant that I have been wishing to try and I was not disappointed! It is on the Northside at a very nice new mall development with lots of stores...The decor is very modern and upscale and the service ,presentation (white china & cloth napkins)and quality of the food was excellent! We all ordered Thai style dishes which were very spicy (three on a 1 to 5 scale) and the portion size was good- both of my friends had to have takeout boxes for their leftovers- we will definitely make sure to go there again :)

This was a nice find for a quick lunch near the airport. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look like much, but inside the decor is modern, clean, and attractive. Although billed as a "pan-Asian" menu, the choices lean heavily to Thai food. My basil scallops were great - I love Thai basil, and the balance of heat, spice, and sweetness in the vegetables was just right. The white rice served with the meals is standard long grain American rice. Service was generally good, although I ended up waiting too long for a beverage refill at one point. The prices are about right.

I love that I can take my family, who are not familiar with thai food at all, to this place. I had the Red curry with natural brown rice with 4 stars, which had the right level of spiciness and satisfaction. The neices were impressed with the beef fried rice, which came in big portions for the lunch specials. My brother in law had the mango chicken, which he fawned endlessly over, being sweet to the taste. My sister was the best though, trying the tried and true pad thai. Since she is new to this dish, I started her off the mildest level available. She was really impressed with the presentation and the taste of the dish. You can tell this restaurant put a lot of effort into their dishes, not overpowering their pad thai with ketchup to give off the "thai flavor", but actually using fish sauce, limes, fresh peanuts, and al dente thai noodles. The thai milk tea was also excellent, not being too sweet but just enough to savor like a dessert. The prices were exceptionally reasonable for lunch @ $8.95 per entree. Definitely when I am back in Jacksonville, I will be at this place constantly :).
