The Green Papaya is a hidden gem I nice mom and pop restaurant in Miami Lakes... When you walk in you first meet Kim the owner's wife she always has a smile and readily to attend you... Frankie her husband is the owner of the establishment also the cook they are both so kind hearted and friendly you feel as if you went to your family's house for dinner...
The service is amazing the food extraordinary... If you love pho I highly recommend their soups, also their fried rice is the best I've had they even have a vegatable one for all you vegetarians or vegan if you tell them no egg... I could write a huge review stating how wonderful their food is, and how I highly recommend it but this one I'll leave simple and to the point go for dinner you won't regret it.. Happy eating...
A little hole in the wall in Miami Lakes where you can find authentic Vietnamese food served to you by an authentic Vietnamese mom. She was quite a character. Would downright tell us that she didn't like what we were ordering and kindly suggest (read:force) us to try another item. Don't get me wrong, I didn't mind this at all. I rather appreciated it because Vietnamese is not my area of expertise. You could tell she wanted us to have the best meal possible.
The place is small and cozy. The food is good. The green papaya salad with mint and beef jerky was a thing of beauty. It looked, smelled, and tasted like a little piece of tropical paradise. I also had the pho with beef, which was comforting and delicious. The taro bubble tea was a delight (sans the tapioca balls because they're just gross). The only reason I won't give it 4 stars is because the service was lacking quite a bit. We didn't get menus until well after we were seated and our water glasses were empty most of the night. But I understand a couple servers called in sick that night and the owner was understaffed. This place is a jump, skip, and a hop from my house so I'll be back very soon for the revision and that fourth star!
This is my favorite restaurant in Coral Springs right now. This location just opened 1 or 2 months ago and it's amazing! All the food is delicious and the ingredients are sooo fresh. I eat here twice a week since I found out about it a month ago. The boba drinks, edemame, and pho beef soup are among my favorites!
All I know is that the Pho was watered down - maybe with chicken broth. No pho options at all, don't go here if pho is what you're after.
This is a great place. It is tiny but the food is amazing. the soups are the best. I love the green papaya soup because it has everything. The fried rice is excellent and I would recommend this place anytime. I eat from here at least once a week.
For Miami this is a great alternative to Viet food. I went for the first time last week. It seems to be a mom and pop operation (those are the best kinds) Not as good as some other but I would defiantly go again and again to try things.
If you get a chance try Papaya salad with pork and shrimp.
I love this place!!!! Best seafood soup ever, and the green papaya salad is fantastic. we go as often as we can.
Tasty if you want something different in NW Dade. Although summer roll should not have pork in it and green papaya salad was bitter--the mint was not the best I think. Egh.
I could eat here twice a week if given a chance! green papaya salad rocks my socks and the #15. ALL OF THEIR SOUPS ARE AMAZING! bare in mind that the menu is pretty limited please still refer to the picture in the next review.....it was mine! yum!
Probably the only Vietnamese restaurant in Northwestern Miami-Dade - and not a bad one at that.
The food, service, and atmosphere is good. It has a homey and colorful look - and it looks nicer than a typical hole-in-a-wall establishment in Miami. The restaurant's menu is small, but they consist of popular dishes. And some things could probably be ordered off the menu, as I had ordered a che ba mau, a 3 bean grass jelly dessert that I've had in Houston's Little Saigon. They willingly made the dessert drink for me and I was grateful for it - it tasted just like it should.
The bo lu lac was good, but the beef chunks were smaller than the ones I've been accustomed to in Houston. The Saigon vermicelli was yummy. Soup seems to be pretty popular. Presentation of the food is nice. I've heard the pho is probably better than most other pho served around Miami. Additionally, this Vietnamese restaurant has Vietnamese coffee and tapioca drinks (which is not as common in this part of town as it should be).
The prices are reasonable, but I personally thought that the portions were a tad bit too small for the price - but it wasn't much to complain about especially after considering everything else.
excellent for miami.
i tried their vermicelli noodle bowl with pork, shrimp, spring roll w/fish sauce. their version = tasty.
i then decided to have their pho -- also flavorful, slightly salty but nice meat.
i wouldn't recommend their tapioca pearl tea -- taro was too sweet and the boba was not good.
The couple who run the place are super friendly.
small menu.
Vietnamese food in South Florida is hard to find. Good Vietnamese food is even more difficult to come across. So if you find one that's good, you hold onto it for dear life. It ranks up there like Oxygen for the body. One can't live without it. At least this girl can't. :oD
Green Papaya is very tiny, hardly noticeable from the street driving by. But if you took the time to stroll through the plaza, you will notice it there right next to a Nail Salon! What a surprise. :oP
The owners of the restaurant are also the people you meet when you walk in. The wife is the hostess and her husband is the chef of the restaurant. Both are wonderfully friendly and warm. I've gotten to know them pretty well and they are really great people.
This is one of the Asian restaurants where you can start off your meal with Boba tea or smoothies. They range in various flavors for you to choose. They also carry Vietnamese Che, which can be considered a drink or dessert, consisting of various kinds of sweet beans and jellies immersed in coconut milk and crushed ice. You can have this with the meal or afterwards as a light dessert.
There is a a pretty concise menu divided into appetizers, noodle soups, dry noodle dishes, and rice for one to choose from. My favorites on the menu are the Bun Bo Hue, the Beef Pho, the Pork Chop Rice Platter, and the Special Fried Rice. The Bun Bo Hue is a bowl of spicy Lemongrass soup filled with rice noodles and beef. The Pho is a traditional beef broth base soup filled with flat rice noodles and slices of beef and herbs. As for the rice dishes, the grilled cararmelized pork chops are my favorite. The chops are slightly sweet, slightly savory, covered in garlic and lemongrass, and served with pickled veggies and flavored fish sauce added to taste. It is like a taste of home for me. A new favorite based on the chef's recommendation, is the Special Fried Rice. The rice used is Jasmine rice, which is aromatic, moist, and perfectly al dente, making for a better fried rice. Mixed with multiple cuts of meats, it is full of flavor and absolutely delicious. All other items are good but the ones above are the best executed.
For those of you who haven't tried this place, I recommend you trying it out. It's a great little find in Miami Lakes.
