"Bub" in our home is a mainstay. We keep our penguin soda club machine busy. This store exchanges refills for the C02 at the same price that I did pay to have them shipped. Local first is our plan.
Also, near the rear of the store is a product refill section. Meaning, you can bring in your soap bottles, cleanser bottles etc and refill your bottle for cents per ounce! It's great to recycle, even better to not buy more.
Service each time we have been in has been friendly and knowledgeable. Did you know that refinishing your tub is one of the more toxic repairs? Us either! We'll be back for refills. -

As a tree-hugging, "Inconvenient Truth"-watching, left-leaning Earth Mama, I was thrilled to see this store open up in Oak Park.
Green Home Experts is a store that specializes in eco-friendly building and home supplies. The back of the store is like a teeny, earth-friendly Home Depot -- there are paints, countertops, flooring and window treatments that fit their slogan "Good for your family, good for the earth."
The front of the store has cleaning supplies, CFL bulbs, Chico bags, and a display of cloth diapers (thank goodness my diaper days are behind me). They've expanded their selection to include things like bedding, lunch boxes, candles, cleaning products and other around-the-house stuff for those of us who are renters or just taking baby steps at this whole green living thing.
Maria, the owner, is still a delight and will answer all of your stupid questions as if those were the smartest questions anybody ever asked, ever.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Super-friendly and full of great products!
And the owner Maria is a wonderful resource! The store offers a wide range of products from the fabulous Mrs. Meyers soy candles and the option to come in to refill your containers with cleaning products to eco-friendly and high quality interior design materials like Marmoleum flooring and Gilasi countertops. They even have Mason bee houses! -

Finally, found a rain barrel! I was told I'd have to wait a week for it to come in - no big deal -- but then to my surprise I got a call that night that it was already in. I'm on the way to pick it up today.
Got a huge compost bin for my garden and a bucket compost bin for the kitchen. Nice to find everything I was looking for in one store.
The great knowledge of the owner and friendly demeanor in addition to the great products offered make it a wonder store to shop. I highly recommend it. And their website is pretty informative, too. -

I stopped into this brand new store to pick up some Mrs. Meyer's dishsoap. While I was there, I got a Chico Bag -- actuallly small enough that I can keep it in the glove box at all times and have a bag when I need one for a change!
As a bonus, this bag turns out to be a perfect stroller bag for my little stroller and the bag holds an amazing amount. We stuffed it full at the library and it held up great.
I'm one of those lazy envrionmentalists -- I'll do the right thing, but it can take a heck of a lot of time and research effort that I don't have.
Green Home Experts make it easy -- they've done all the research. If I buy something there, I know it's really green, not just "green-washed."
I'm already planning my next kitchen remodel using their Marmoleum floors and dreaming of the recycled glass countertops -- I love those!
Definitely check out this store! -

Maria of GHE truly knows her stuff, has a great selection in the store and is extremely nice and helpful. I love her range of products and my kids have now fallen in love with her "create your own soda" display.
We first heard about her store because my son's school buys it's Green Team items and composters from her. Then, I had a chance to meet her and her warm personality really drew me in to visiting the store. Now, I love going in there. -

I love supporting local businesses and will shop here for all environmentally friendly cleaning supplies. I like that they carry refill sizes. Looking forward to attending a lecture in April on gardening.

First of all, Maria is one of the nicest people. I went here just to scope it out, and maybe get a shower head. There was only one kind there, but I asked her so many questions and she was very helpful. She really knows her stuff too, and can always point you in the right direction for more info on something. It was nice to be able to see a lot of the things I have read about online and stuff. Definitely will be back.

Maria has a great eye for sustainable and practical merchandise. From what you need for your upcoming remodel to school supplies to cleaning products, she has just about everything! No one makes you feel welcomed as much as Maria and her team does. It's a joy to shop there and I always learn something new. I always walk out of there with something new and a smile on my face.

I finally found a kitchen compost container, and it wasn't expensive! That saves me the cost of a garbage disposal right there. What a great store--environmentally guilt-free shopping for your home and garden. The owner is knowledgeable about everything she sells, and her enthusiasm for her products is contagious! I can't wait to send hubby there for his much sought-after, but never found, rain barrel!

What a neat store! I went there for the first time this weekend and found a selection of products that I have not found elsewhere. They have everything from brightly colored flooring and countertops, to pet shampoo, to environmentally friendly paint stripper! Its a great place to find green alternatives to the things you normally use in your house. I was also surprised that the prices are pretty reasonable as well. I will definitely be back for my next home project!
