I've had the luxury of going here twice, and it's just wonderful. Let me count the ways:

1. Right on the ocean.
2. Quaint, classic victorian atmosphere.
3. FREE WINE and spirits after 4 pm.
4. Wonderful breakfast and hors d'oevours spreads (the quiche was frikkin incredible)
5. Huge tub,  fit for you and several concubines.
6. Big ol' bed and fireplace.  Rock on.

If I have any sway in your decision to stay here, I'm happy. But one thing: stay in the carriage house- it's the detached area in the back.  You can still see the ocean from your window if you get on the 3rd floor.  The Carriage house is more $$ but worth it- you get a lot of privacy, the aforementioned tub and fireplace, and your own bathroom (in the main house, the bathroom is shared, no thanks).

I love this place, and I hope you do too.

Meh. This place was ok, but definitely not worth the price.

First of all, don't bother with this place unless you LOVE floral prints (flowery wallpaper even on the ceiling! there was no escape!) and Victorian style houses.

When we first came in, we had to wander around confused as to where to go since the "front" desk is in the back. When we got there, the service was not really that welcoming. It wasn't bad, but this place isn't exactly cheap and I really expected more.

We stayed in two rooms because we couldn't get the same room two consecutive nights. Our first room was the carriage house. It was pretty spacious, but in retrospect, we probably didn't need that much space. We never sat around in the alcove with the couch and tv for instance. Also, the bed was so high off the ground it was kind of an effort to climb into it. The jacuzzi could fit two, but it was a little cramped. It was still fun, but we were pretty limited in terms of how we could fit.

The staff moved our bag from one room to the other while we were out and that was very nice and convenient. I was worried at first that we would have to move everything to our car for a few hours while they cleaned the lacy suite, our next room.

The lacy suite was pretty nice, but the jacuzzi wasn't great. This tub was definitely only for one (I'm not holding that against it), and there was really only one way to sit in it- with the jets on your feet, calves, and outer thighs. That seems oddly positioned to me. The jets on my feet were pretty nice after a day of walking, but at least one jet on my back would have been nice. And I still don't understand what the jets on my outer thighs were there for. The room was otherwise very nice, with crazy high ceilings and lots of floor space.

Breakfast both mornings was a tasty, simple affair. The scrambled eggs were definitely the best thing there, cooked very nicely on both days. The rest of the meal was simple stuff, like some chopped fruit, muffins, sliced bread, oatmeal, and english muffins. There was also granola and raisin bran. They had orange and cranberry juice to drink, as well as coffee and tea that were available all day. Overall, it was nothing you couldn't find at a continental breakfast at some random motel.

The afternoon hor d'oeuvres were pretty mediocre as well. It included cheap cheese (like pepper jack and cheddar), chopped up veggies with ranch, crackers, and some backed good like a cake. The cake was good and the veggies were fresh, but again I had to wonder if it's worth it.

As for location, Green Gables is right on the bay and it was nice to eat with a bay view and walk out into the sea air. But almost none of the rooms actually overlook the bay. The common space does, but that's not really where we spent most of our time. From the carriage house, we could see it a little between houses and from the lacy suite, all the windows were facing the opposite direction.

I really liked the computer in the common space so that we could yelp nearby restaurants, but the internet access was fairly slow

Basically everything was fine. If you go here, you'll probably have a good enough time, assuming you don't mind the decor. The only problem is how your pocketbook will feel at the end of it.

Scary.

I didn't stay here but I walked in on accident thinking it was the Seven Gales Inn.  My boyfriend wouldn't even come in, it was overdone with teddy bears and carousel unicorns--I expected cats to come flying out of all corners, and to find a smoky bar with rich widows drinking gin martinis.

Eek.

Adorable.   And with the champagne package you get the cutest teddy bear IN THE WORLD!  I love TT Pooh!  Excellent rooms, oversized stand alone tubs and automatic fire places!  Insta-Romance!
In the off season, check out a book called "Bed and Breakfasts and Country Inns"...in the back it has a coupon for "stay one night get the next for free" for hundreds of B&Bs across the nation.  Its an insane deal you dont want to miss!

i've been staying at the green gables for 20 years - i still enjoy my time there but have to say the quality/service has changes over time. the afternoon hors d'oevours used to be more creative/substantial is now down to bascially cheese/veggies/crackers...same with breakfast..evening turndown service is not consistant - the past few times they've missed my room. overall i continue to get there at least 1x per year - great location..

What a location!  Just steps from the bay and the walking/bike path that takes you everywhere.  We had a very nice stay although it could use a little updating.  Menus in the main house were from 2000 & 2002.  Breakfast is served buffet style so you need to eat on the early side.  The eggs were cold after 9:00.  Very friendly service and responded quickly to any needs....ice, advice, etc.  Our room was quite nice.  Fireplace, good bed, turndown service.  Overall a good choice for a short stay.
