Amazingly delicious. If you've never been to a Churrascaria, it is a buffet where the "meat runners" come right to your table with meat on a skewer and slice off pieces right onto your plate. The steaks are so delicious you end up eating until you are about to burst. There are about 7 different types of steaks, and also chicken, turkey, sausage, lamb, etc. It is very expensive but worth going, especially if you can eat a lot. But any drinks, even a soda, cost extra. And dessert is extra as well, but I have never been able to eat dessert after all the steaks anyway! There is also a small regular buffet with some seafood and vegetables. But don't fill up on this, save room for all the meat! They don't open until 4pm.

I ate here on New Year's Eve for the second New Year's Eve in a row.  The decor of the restaurant is nice upon entering but is not nearly as nice in the seating area.  Regardless of that both the bar and buffet are impressive.

I started off by going up to the cold bar which had a wonderful selection of different foods.  It contained everything from savory meats and fresh Parmesan cheese to crab legs and even some sushi and sashimi.  Honestly, I could have been happy with just eating from the buffet the whole night but the best was yet to come.  If you have ever been to a  Brazilian steakhouse before then you know the ridiculous selection of meats that they have.  Everything that they brought out seemed to be cooked perfectly with my favorites being the skirt steak and the Parmesan encrusted filet.  The meat servers were also very much on the ball and new meats were arriving at the table almost every minute that I had my card turned to green.  Overall it was probably the best experience I have had here and I have never had one that was not pleasurable.

The bottom line is that this is the only Brazilian steakhouse in Pittsburgh which is ok because it is a good one and I will definitely be back in the future.  Don't expect to get off cheap when eating here but it is still well worth the price for all of the wonderful cuts of meat that they have.

One of the best real Brazilian bbqs from USA and I already went to a lot here. The environment is very good, the cuts are perfect and service is extraordinary. The restaurant is managed by a Brazilian what it makes a real deal and they have Guarana and Brazilian coffe. I totally recommend this restaurant and will travel back to Pittsburgh with the intention to go there again.

I have been a couple of times to Green Forest.  The place is nice, people very friendly, service is good and the food is great and fresh.  Parmesan pork is amazing (just personal taste :) ).  I have been to several other churrascarias (one in Brazil too) and I would say that it is really comparable.  The only thing it might be room for improvement is to bring a larger variety of meats (to justify also the fairly high price compared to other places with larger variety).

You will absolutely get your money's worth here! Don't let the 'all-you-can-eat' buffet sway you away from this place. The buffet is amazing in and of itself with items like, antipasta, crab legs, oysters, pasta salads, salad, mashed potatoes, different rice dishes, paella, black beans cooked with pork, Chilean sea bass, sushi, marinated olives, and different cheeses.

Each table also recieves a plateful of fried bananas, yucca, and tiny homemade rolls. Are you full yet?

Filp your red and green painted thread spool to the green side and the meat starts coming about every 2 minutes! Parmesan-crusted steak, ribeye, hangar steak, filet, filet wrapped in bacon, homemade sausages, turkey breast wrapped in bacon, lamb chops, leg of lamb, pork ribs....all brought to your table on a long sword-like skewer and sliced onto your plate.

If you have any room left, they also have an array of tropical-inspired desserts like passion fruit mousse, pineapple sorbet, and coconut tart.

Green Forest is no longer a BYOB. They have a full bar. We found this out by taking our own beer and wine this weekend. However, they were very nice about it and said since we did not know it was no longer BYOB, they would let us drink our wine and beer. There was a $3.50 per bottle opening fee.

Awesome!  Buffet of crab legs, shrimp, and many other things were great, but really were just  a sideshow to the meatfest that we enjoyed.  Staff was great, food was awesome and we left with full bellies.  A hidden gem in the Penn Hills area, we will be back!!!

You will be overwhelmed by the huge variety of sizzling meats flying by your table and landing on your plate.  It really IS as good as it looks and sounds.

The meat starts coming only after you've sampled the amazing appetizer bar- seafood, salads, soups, pastas, hot sides.  I would've been satisfied there, honestly!

And then BAM- its meat time.  Can't wait to go back, despite the hefty pricetag.

Meat, meat, meat, meat, meat. I think they also have a salad bar? Don't know what meat sweats are? Come here.

Good churrascaria... meat, meat, meat. Seriously, what else is there to say? As the last reviewer said - flip the card to green for meat, flip the card to red to stop. The food is freshly cooked, seasoned nicely and the servers come around often. It's not a place you'll often frequent because the bill is pretty steep because it's all-you-can-eat-meat! Meat.

Flip to the green side up. Meat. Flip to the red side up. No meat. Their buffet appetizer is fantastic. I've never had lobster ravioli until I came here and it was actual lobster. I could have just eaten at the buffet but also did want some picanha's. The meat is cooked and seasoned very well.

They are now BYOB. They used to serve booze and we could get some caipirinha's and brazilian cerveja's but not anymore. This was my first experience at a Brazilian restaurant and I was hooked.

Now this place is no Fogo de Chao but it is still very good for what you can get in Pittsburgh. Plus, the bill is less than $30/person which is a steal considering how much food you can stuff down your gullet.

This isn't a restaurant, it's a food EXPERIENCE!  My friends warned me ahead of time, and I am thankful.  They said, "drink lots of water all day, but don't eat anything..."  They were right.  I have always been the carnivore's carnivore, but I must say, I have never eaten so many delicious meats in one meal as I had at the Green Forest.  I was READY for the meats.  What I WASN'T ready for was the vast array of other foods that were prepared and waiting on a monstrous ice bar and in hot chaffing dishes.  Bring your own beer or wine, and prepare for the food experience of a lifetime!  When they ask you if you want dessert, just laugh and try to burp.  (You'll probably be too full to do EITHER!)  Amazingly enough, even after some of the best roasted meats I have ever tasted, my FAVORITE part was the brown sugar-encrusted spit-roasted pineapple!  Wow.  You might want to bring a dolly so somebody can wheel you out of there when you finally say uncle.

Never did I expect to feel over-served. The people at Green Forest are right on the ball, maybe even ahead of the the ball, in offering you refills and fresh plates. If I wanted, I could have gone through 9 or 10 plates in the two hours we were there. The hostess asked if we had reservations, but there was clearly no danger of the place filling up. It is a weird atmosphere. Bright and almost utilitarian.

All of the meats were delicious, but be hungry when you go and be prepared: if you like well-done, this may not be the place for you. The pork was particularly excellent.

It looks like the prices have risen on a pretty regular basis. Our meal was $32/person. While it was tasty and a fun experience, I would rather go to a nice restaurant and get one amazing meal and a glass of wine for the same price. It's worth a try though.

This place is pretty awesome in theory.  There is a non-stop flood of rare meats, and an endless buffet of bleeding awesome.  At some point, they paraded a cow through the room and people just bit it.  He was a dignified cow, with the stoic demeanor of an old John Wayne.  I watched as he was slowly eaten away to a skeleton.  A bitter tear slid down my cheek as I lamented my bovine friend.  I turned the red/green thingy to red to give him a moment of silence...then turned it back to green and ate some different type of meat.  I left when they walked the live turkey through the room.  Uh, but yeah, this place is a pretty good experience in general, the staff is good, the food is delicious.  There can be a moment of sticker shock when the bill comes, but this place works best as an informal special event type of place.  All in all, a pretty fun experience.

Went here a while back for my college graduation with a few friends.  There's definitely a better ambiance if you go for dinner vs. lunch, but I was satisfied every time I was there.  Service was very friendly and outgoing, even when I went with a large group, and the meat was always succulent and juicy.

I'm surprised that people are complaining about the price.  I can tell you that at other churrascarias around the country you can expect to pay 40-75% more for the same meal.  And I feel that the Green Forest just seems to have a better atmosphere and better tasting meet than chains such as Fogo de Chao.  I can only hope to compare my experiences there with churrascarias in Brazil if/when I go for business travel.

Come hungry and loosen your belt for this meatfest!  Food was excellent, service was quick.  Came on a Saturday evening and spent $37.50 on the main meal; drinks and desserts extra.  Plan on spending $100 + tip for a party of two.  Would I do it again?  Count me in!

Green Forest is a Brazilian churrascaria - a rodizio restaurant. The idea is a fixed price menu for as much meat as you can eat. They bring out flank steak, top sirloin, bacon wrapped filet mignon, pork loin, chicken, chicken hearts, Brazilian sausage, beef rib, and other meat and cut it and put it on your plate.

They also have a warm buffet with rice, beans, fish, and pasta. Their cold buffet has shrimp, salad, mussels, clams, ahi tuna, artichoke hearts, cheese, salami type meats, and a bunch of other food. It's not a vegetarian friendly place.

I think this restaurant has some 5 star qualities, and some 2 star qualities. The restaurant's atmosphere isn't great: they no longer have a liquor license, it's in an office park, the ceiling tiles aren't immaculate. But the meat is excellent - and there's really nowhere else you can get this much meat and have it be so good. Bring a big stomach, and your wallet. It's not cheap ($26.95 + drinks, tax, and tip), but it's fun to do once a year.

    Good service ,great meats.

If you've never done Churrascaria, this is a great place to start.

Saturday nights are crowded, but the variety of meats is larger, including suckling baby pig.

I've eaten at quite a few of these places and believe it or not, this is one of the best in the US.

I went here for Valentine's Day a few years back with a girl I (unfortunately) had no chance with. No matter! The food was fantastic. There's nothing quite like unlimited amounts of meat (and generally, just meat) being brought to you at the flip of a button (green means give me meat, red means you're lagging behind). There's a pretty nice salad/buffet bar as well with plenty of choices for those who aren't up for eating three or four pounds of meat in a short amount of time. Delicious seasoning, great variety, nice atmosphere!

We've eaten here several times over the years and have always enjoyed it. This is not really a place you would patronize on a regular basis, but definitely the place to go when you find yourself experiencing that deep, inchoate desire to express your carnivorous nature. An excellent destination for lapsed vegetarians to get back in touch with their authentic self.
Green Forest serves a wonderful variety of grilled meats and has a very nice buffet with good quality seafood and sides. You need to bring your own wine (or beer). And you do want to plan for a leisurely meal; all that meat is heavy going, so give yourself a chance to sample your way through the full rotation. Including the grilled pineapple. Yum.
At the end, if you still have room or inclination, do check out their dessert offerings. A sherbet goes down quite nicely at that point.
The service has always been great; nice people and with a sense of humor.

I have not tried the Brazilian steak houses in Chicago as their prices seem a bit hight for my budget.  But at $28.80 a person, this place was in range.  The meat variety was very large and of very high quality and the appetizer and salad bar contained some excellent offerings, especially the shrimp and the grilled mushrooms.  Skip the hot side dishes unless you want to fill up on starch.  As per the other reviewer, location is a bit strange and decor is plain.  Service was outgoing and very friendly.
