6 reviews for Green Bean
Been coming here for years whenever visiting a friend who lives here. Love this place: the drinks/products, the atmosphere and pastries etc. Staff is usually pretty cool. Lots of space, a pool table in the back, and cool chalk-message-covered (garment district cambridge mass color pink) bathroom.
enjoy.
I think the Green Bean is the best coffee shop in town. Yes, way better than Tate Street, call me crazy.
The Green Bean does lack in coziness, but it has some unmatched perks. 1) The Red espresso drinks are really awesome. I was never a fan of rooibos tea until I started ordering the Red latte, mmm. I sub honey and soy milk (extra fitty cents), and it's delectable! 2) The conference room with a big table and bright lighting, where you can have a private meeting. I don't know if it's reservable, but I've seen groups just walk in and use it. 3) Pool table! 4) Nice, secluded, partially-shaded patio out back.
There are ample plug ins for all the laptop fiends, and the internet is free, although you have to request a passkey slip from the barista that'll only get you 2 hours online. You can get another one when you time out, but this annoys.
Note: Daily specials have changed since Ryan R.'s review. The only one I can recall for sure is 1/2-price espressos on Sundays.
This is the only coffee shop in Greensboro that carries the RED Espresso, which is healthier and contains more antioxidants. I tried my first RED Espresso drink last night. The Greene Bean called it a RED Symphony. It was AWESOME! So light and yummy, sweet and fluffy! There's also a very comfortable atmosphere at the Greene Bean. Laid back and chill. Though, you may be hit on by the occasional person looking for a hookup. And if that's what you're looking for, this is a great place for it!
Great coffee, good staff, clean and comfortable. Also, every Thursday all of the drinks are half price and that includes alcohol!!
Tatooed boys and girls in tight pants merrily mingling with button-down young professionals over lattes and cups of green tea. The Green Bean brings to life those intolerable MTV reality show moments, but here you know and enjoy the company. No one is trying to swing their pretensions or show up the other patrons (save for the girl in the corner with a parrot on her shoulder). The coffee isn't the best (or worst) in town, but do you really care when the point is obviously to be the local hang-out?
I hesitate to give it 2 stars because I'm really glad this place exists... that said, I don't care for their brews and would gladly, given that it's not at all a long haul to go to Tate St., leave downtown for a while...
Not much to say. They have, the times I've been, been pretty cramped tight with several people using the wi-fi (a good thiing-I like local business even if it's literally not my cup of tea) and ... eh, the atmosphere just doesn't do it for me. I'd give it 3 stars except... "Meh, I've experienced better" really truly is my assessment. That said, it's worth trying. See if you like it. I haven't regretted trying them. I've just been underimpressed by a long shot.
This is a good coffee house. There is a good selection of hot and cold drinks (tea, coffee, ect). It's no Tate Street, but it is good if you need a cup of coffee and you are downtown.
