I'm not Greek but I love Greek food.
So boyfriend and I paid our $3 admission. We were afraid the festival would be centered only Greek heritage, but no, there were a lot of food stands.
Drink prices were really reasonable which impressed me. $1 for water or soda, nice family-friendly prices.
They had a a combination platter, but we found the individual stands to have much better food. The dolmades were awesome, filled with meat, warm, and served with a lemony sauce. Then there were 10 different Greek desserts to choose from, all at $2 per piece. Unless you go to Costco you can't beat that!
This festival is about food and dancing -- I don't think there was much of anything else. (You can take a tour of the church, I think.) There was a lot of Greek music going on. Great for a short afternoon lunch.
This Greek extravaganza takes place at the Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Looks like it's an annual event too.
Went here by suggestion of some friends to meet there. Easy to get to off of the 5 freeway.
Lots of people darting around. Kids playing games for prizes. Music playing, along with dancing for those willing. Food being served. Artifacts being sold.
Lamb on a spit. Shish-kabob. Sweets. Ouzo. Gyros.
I ended up going for the combination plate comprising of: souvlaki (shish-kabob), spanakopita (spinach phyllo pie), pastitsio (Greek lasagne), pilafi (Greek rice), dolmathes (grape leaves stuffed with rice), Greek salad, and a slice of bread. Yummy! Finished off by baklava (phyllo with nuts and honey). Certainly cured my longing for the Greek lasagne which I hadn't had for years. ;-)
Fun for all ages!
