used Great Scott for several moves within the District. They were always reasonably priced, professional and prompt. Recently had to move a household and art collection 1,000 miles.
Great Scott handled this recent and large move without a flaw. Said they would arrive at 8:00 am... and they arrived at 8:04 am. 26 hours later they had moved everything into place at the new location... dent and scratch free.

Moving can be so, SO stressful. But Great Scott Moving made a recent move a real breeze.
My partner and I were vacating an office space that we had been renting in a 10-story office building near the Takoma Metro station. The move involved disassembling some furniture and moving it and other pieces to two locations, one an office space in the same building, the other a 5 to 10-minute trip away.
Things couldn't have gone more smoothly. Scott, who is very cordial, returned my call promptly and was able to come up with an estimate over the phone. After speaking with several other movers, some of whose bids came in much higher, I opted to go with Great Scott. Soon after making the decision, I had another conversation, this time with Henry, who was also very professional and easy to work with. We arranged a suitable date for the move without a hitch. A day prior to the move, Henry checked in to confirm.
On the day of the move, the movers, Brandon and Steve, arrived a few minutes early. They, too, were efficient and professional. The job took considerably less time than predicted, slightly over an hour. We were impressed not only with the speed, but also the care that Brandon and Steve showed each of the items. And our total bill? It was $280, significantly lower than the $375-$500 estimate. (One mover had said the charge would be based on a 5-hour minimum time frame and a 3-man crew, for a total of $750 plus materials. I'm glad I kept looking!)

Let me just open with a word of thanks to Jonathan H. for bringing this AMAZING company to my attention. If ever there was a time for Yelp to come through, it was now.
I called Great Scott after finding out I needed to move ASAP. Scott himself answered the phone and he was totally cool. He didn't try to pressure sale me into anything and we quickly arranged to do a move at 9am on Monday morning. A few days later I realized that some changes would need to be made so I called back and spoke with Henry. I needed the movers to come to my storage unit in Falls Church, then proceed to my condo in Virginia Square then to the new location in Crystal City. I also had a time variable. We only had the elevators reserved at the final location from 1-5pm. Henry quickly added up his estimates and said he would have the movers come at 10am to ensure we arrived by the end location at the appropriate time.
Let me tell you, his calculations were SPOT ON. The two man moving team arrived promptly at 9:55am. They were beyond courteous and moved my storage items out ASAP. All of my items were securely packed up in the truck and the boxes that weren't well taped up were given an extra tape padding by the movers.
When the movers arrived at the Virginia Square location, they assessed all the items quickly and began moving. NOT ONCE during the move did they slam a large item against the wall. NOT ONE DING OR SCRATCH on the wall or any of my things. After they finished up there, they proceeded to the final location but mentioned they would take a quick break to get some water and a short lunch (Henry mentioned this when I spoke with him).
Indeed it was a short lunch because they arrived exactly at 1pm for the unload. Mover #1 stayed and unloaded the truck and mover #2 brought the items up in the elevator into the condo. There was no loading dock here but they still moved fast to get all of my items up. They placed the boxes/furniture in the appropriate locations and just as they had before, did not put one scratch or ding into the walls or furniture. I mean, I could not believe how carefully, yet quickly, they maneuvered my things through the condo hallways. Amazing. If anything, just the fact they didn't ruin our walls was enough to make me be true to them forever.
I would recommend Great Scott Moving to anyone to cares about their things and expects true professionalism from a move. If you factor in time and truck rental (not to mention they're insured!) the price is so right. Moving is stressful enough; let these guys take the stress out of it.

I wanted a no-hassle move, and I was willing to pay a lot of money for that. Great Scott provided that move, but at a fraction of what I expected to pay.
The experience began when I submitted an estimate request on their website. Henry Feaunati quickly replied via email with a detailed breakdown of what his company would do, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. The original estimate was six to seven hours, including an hour of travel time from Hyattsville to my place in Odenton. Mr. Feaunati quoted a total cost of $1,225, stipulating that they only accept cashier's check or cash, payable upon services rendered. We agreed on a move date of June 15th at 8 a.m.
Fast forward to June 15th. The only bad part of the whole experience (and this is really just nitpicking) was the movers showed up at 8:37 a.m. rather than 8 a.m. like they were supposed to. I don't think it was their fault, because they called around 8:20 saying they were lost.
When they arrived, they did a quick walk-through of the house, then got right to work. Ozzy, Pete and the other mover were incredibly professional, and worked very fast. They wrapped all my furniture in plastic wrap and cardboard and secured everything with tape or twine. I was most concerned about my plasma TV, but just like everything else, they treated it with as much care as they would handling something of their own.
They packed up the truck in short order, taking only one hour to pack my entire two-bedroom condo, furniture, boxes and all. We convoyed to Odenton Self Storage, the location of my storage room. They expertly unloaded all the stuff on the truck and situated it within the locker in the most efficient manner possible.
In the end, it only took them two hours of the originally quoted seven. I was very impressed with how well the movers handled and packed my things, as well as how expeditiously they got things down the three flights of stairs from my condo to the truck. Even though they spent an extra 30 minutes driving because they were lost, they did not charge me for that time. The final cost was only $525. I couldn't believe how little I paid for such great service.
I wish there was a Great Scott Moving company everywhere I will live, so I can rest well knowing my things will be moved and handled with the most speed and professionalism I could ask for.
When we decided to move to Capitol Hill, we chose to go the route with the least stress we could manage. Great Scott was a great choice! They show up on time at our apt with 2 guys who busted their butts and moved everything out in 30 minutes!
Then once we get to our new house, they unload the moving truck in equally as fast time. Now we just have a POD for them to unload that's sitting on our front curb - no problem!
We had Bobby and Scott move our stuff for us and they were both in shape, friendly, hustling guys that made the move very pleasant. Now if they would come back to unpack all these boxes! haha

By far the best moving experience I've ever had. Ever.
I had browsed through all the movers on Yelp, and was having a hard time trusting some of the reviews (there were a few movers with a whole bunch of 5-stars from users with only one review, etc.) so I reached out to my DC friends. My friend Carol highly recommended Great Scott, so that's what we went with!
Our crew, Scott and Bobby, were friendly, professional, and QUICK. They were able to load up everything from our 1 bedroom apartment (keeping in mind, we sold most of the furniture from there, it was mostly boxes, a mattress and box spring, artwork, and a large flat panel TV) in about 30 minutes. Including the loading, drive time, and unloading a packed-to-the-gills POD from our Atlanta house, spread across three floors of our new home, they were completely finished in less than 3.5 hours.
The guys were friendly and interesting to chat with while they worked. Not a thing was damaged (other than what had gotten shifted about in the POD while it was transported).
We were very, very impressed, and would have no hesitation at all about using them again!

My last move was with Great Scott -- they were very efficient and moved like they were working on their own dollar, instead of mine. The movers literally ran back and forth to the truck and carried as much as humanely possible with each load. They finished before their estimated time -- and prior to my expectations as well.
I did notice a few minor dings on my stuff -- to be expected I guess, but that's the only reason for 4.5 instead of 5 stars.
My previous moving experience was horrible -- so I was a bit of a skeptic, but Great Scott was indeed great -- and I would certainly use them again or recommend them without hesitation.
Five stars for a super fast and easy move with friendly movers who did things so fast that I paid LESS than what the company originally quoted me!
The guys were really nice. My move was small, but we moved stuff from storage in Maryland all the way across town to Capital Hill South, and unloaded, in 2 hours. There was no time wasting. At the end, they sat down with me, counted out the hours and tagged on no extra fees--just charged me the hourly rate ($130 for two guys) that was quoted when I called the first time. The only fee beyond the hourly rate was for travel time to and from my place, and that fee had been disclosed up front on the phone with my estimate. They moved my stuff so fast that it was cheaper than the estimate (no guarantees that this will happen to you, but they weren't slacking is all I'm saying).
It's a higher hourly rate than several other places in the area but SO worth it for a smooth move with no hidden fees and nice people. (Also, someone always answers the phone in their office so if you have questions, etc., they will be there). I have had the WORST moving experiences previous to this--watch out for the cheapo movers who will try to charge you extra on arrival and threaten to take your stuff if you don't pay in cash before they unload! Nothing like that at Great Scott--

I can't say enough good things about Great Scott Moving. They may cost a bit more than other movers, but my most recent move with them is far and away the best moving experience I have ever had.
From the scheduling and estimation to the move itself, everything was hassle-free and better than expected. The two guys who moved our place were friendly, timely, and very hard working. They finished my move in under the estimated time without damaging anything.
I highly recommend Great Scott and will absolutely use them again the next time we move.

I cannot recommend any business more than I am recommending Great Scott. I have used them for years from different rental houses in DC and for my business, and several friends have used them from my recommendation so I am basing this on at least eight moves, I wish I could post this review eight times. They have always done an outstanding job and I have total confidence in them. I have tried to be helpful and move some boxes for them but they work so fast that I just end up getting in the way. They are very flexible too, they have send guys over as late as 7 pm when I was in a bind.
I have horror stories with other movers, never again will I use anyone else.
We just moved this past Friday to a new place and decided to use this company.
They were wonderful! They came into the house, looked at everything we wanted to move, and got to moving. Every time they had a question about something (a piece of furniture or a box), they would come ask us if we would take it or if they should. They packed up all of our stuff in about 45 minutes, and when we got to our new place, they checked out the layout and 45 minutes later everything was inside.
They are very fast and very nice to work with. There's a two hour minimum and they charge $130/hour, plus travel time, but it is worth every penny. We didn't have to lift a thing and they took care of everything. If we move again, we will definitely be using this company again!

They charge by the hour, but unlike some of the other local companies, only have a 2 hour minimum (and then charge in 1/4 hour increments after that), making them perfect if you only have a small move, like I did.
They were great to deal with on the phone prior to the job - and very efficient on the day of. I definitely would recommend them.
I am so happy that I chose Great Scott Moving for my move yesterday! Everything went perfectly, which gives me tremendous peace of mind and satisfaction. The moving team arrived exactly on time, were completely professional and very careful with my belongings, including shrink wrapping items. I was pleasantly surprised that they finished the move in less than the estimated amount of time. I had received a more expensive estimate from another DC moving company, which made me nervous because I believe you often "get what you pay for." I used Great Scott Moving to move on Monday. The movers were very friendly, efficient and patient as they moved my things across town. I used this company because of all the reviews they had on here, and I wanted to be sure to echo the previous comments. You can not go wrong with Great Scott.
My take on Great Scott is a little different. I hired them to move my aging mother-in-law. But, unbeknownst to me (it's a long and confusing story), my mother-in-law hired another company. It wasn't until the second company had their van half filled up before Great Scott pulled up and I discovered the mistake. I apologized profusely and assured them we'd pay for the error. The Great Scott response? "Forget about it. It happens." What class!
Just moved with Great Scott and had a fantastic experience! I moved in with my boyfriend so we had to get stuff out of two apartments and into the new condo -- all in 3 hours! Incredible! The crew was completely respectful, careful, trustworthy, and nice. I was particularly impressed at the care they took with the 55 inch TV and our giant leather couch.
I have heard moving horror stories about lots of extra charges (none here save a very clearly disclosed travel fee to get into the city), crews working slowly to push up the hours, or damaged goods. This was definitely a moving fairy tale and I think that the money I spent with Great Scott was some of the best I've ever spent!
I HATE moving. I absolutely hate it. But Great Scott made my last move from DC to NYC a total breeze. Professional, reliable, and efficient. They showed up early, finished early and charged me exactly the quoted rate. They are the best.
