I feel bad for not reviewing this place sooner.....their staffs are exceptional....take care of my puppies real well, my dogs get so happy when I turn the corner about to turn into the parking lot.......from the vet service to boarding and doggy day care, their staffs are dedicated, helpful and truly loves animals........I couldn't be happier, as a first time dog owner, they not only take good care of my dogs, but give me tips on how to train and take care of them at home....

Mostly good except that they can't handle our 20 lb dog, they're afraid of it. We've gone to two other vets that have no issues handling the dog at all.
We've taken several pets here. -

I just took my dog in for his annual check-up and we were in & out within 30 minutes. Even though my dog was scared out of his mind, the staff were very gentle and accommodating, which eased his anxiety. Services are decently priced and your pet gets their nails clipped for free on each visit.

It is rare that one gets to review a business and speak about their compassion and humanity, but that is exactly what this review is about..
My cat had been a patient of Great Oaks some time ago. We liked Dr. Grimm very much but because of a misunderstanding regarding a bill I had moved to another vet (whom I didn't like as much as Dr. Grimm actually). When my cat unexpectedly went into heart failure I knew I wanted to speak to Dr. Grimm despite the fact that she had not been our "official" veterinarian in some time. Dr Grimm was SO kind, she took my call and listened with great compassion and patience as I explained our situation. She answered all my questions, helped clarify some issues for me and reassured me on several points so I could make the best choice for my beloved cat.
Unfortunately my sweet kitty passed away at the emergency hospital. I don't know how Great Oaks even found out that that had happened but the same day we received a sympathy flower arrangement from Great Oaks delivered to our door. They really do care, beyond just keeping a customer, they care about the love and bonds between pets and their families. I am touched by this more than I can say. I will be returning to Great Oaks from now on.Comment from Brad S. of Great Oaks Animal Hospital 7/5/2011

Being new to the Austin area Great Oaks was a super find, I had been with my other vet for 18 years, so I had pretty high expectations. These ladies fit the bill! They are very kind to my dogs, which means a lot, as I have one that has to come in once a month for an Addison's maintenance injection. I would recommend them to my friends & family.

They're out in Brushy Creek, but they take really great care of my little fluffball of a cat.
Dr. Kelli Grimm could be an old fashioned country vet. She's an Aggie in the best way - knowledgeable and friendly. She always takes time to talk with me over the phone, keeps me updated if my cat needs to stay overnight, and has amazing tableside manner.
The office is clean and spacious. When my cat needed to stay in a treatment kennel, they honored my request for non-fleece bedding. (It's true, my cat HATES fleece). Basically, these folks are great at their job and I've never felt like a number or a dollar sign.Comment from Brad S. of Great Oaks Animal Hospital 3/16/2011

The staff here is REALLY great - friendly, caring, willing to answer every little random question I have, and definitely sympathetic to personal situations.
The office is bright and airy, and I definitely feel at ease there. I've seen just about all of the Drs on staff by now, and they are all very helpful and generally just nice. I think the best part was being given a direct access phone number when my doggie was under the knife - I didn't really use it, but it was great to know it was there!Comment from Brad S. of Great Oaks Animal Hospital 2/9/2011

Dr. Willis is our primary vet. She is thorough, knowledgable and caring. Dr. Baugh is the vet we use when Dr. Willis isn't available. She's great, too. The staff is friendly and caring.
The clinic is very clean and the waiting room is spacious so pets aren't all on top of each other while waiting.
We have to drive more than 20 minutes to get to Great Oaks but it is worth it to know that our dogs are getting great care.Listed in: Support Local Businesses!

Dr. Grimm is awesome! She truly has a heart and passion for animals. We took our 1 yo. lab here after his surgery and she was very helpful. She even sent us a HANDWRITTEN "get well" card for our dog. She is amazing!

Truly a caring staff! I have never had a vet that cares as much as Dr. Grimm. Always take the time to explain things, answer questions, and get to know you and your animal. It's clean and the staff actually know things... even though they aren't the doctors! Definitely the best I've ever had even after having a pet for 15 years!!

My two dogs have been patients of Dr. Grimm since 2007 and I feel as if they are getting the best care. I sometimes think they are really expensive, but after talking to other dog owners it makes me realize what I'm being charged is probably pretty fair. Dr. Grimm is always calm and takes her time to explain her diagnosis and follows up with me afterwards if one of the dogs is put on medication. She has been an excellent doctor to my pups and I trust her with their health issues.

the rock stayed here last weekend and was no worse for the wear when i picked him up, so they get a good review!
the staff is very friendly and sweet (even to neurotic pet owners like me) and everyone we saw seemed to really love dogs. the facility looks very clean and they have larged fenced-in areas in the back where the dogs can play during the day. you can send your own food (or not) and toys/blankets/etc.
rocky ran behind the counter to the office staff when they brought him out rather than straight to us. that made me feel like he'd been pretty comfortable there!
cons- they don't have an attendant on-site at night and it's kind of expensive.Listed in: My Northwest neighborhood

I am incredibly happy with Great Oaks. The facilities are clean and the staff is not only friendly and professional but it really comes across that they all love dogs, it really shows.
The only vet I've dealt with there is Dr. Baugh and she's been great. Very friendly, and takes the time to explain everything carefully to this first time dog owner.
I recently had my dog neutered and they gave me a phone number to call directly back to the recovery area, bypassing the front desk. A thoughtful touch that I appreciated.
They're great folks and my dog and I both like going there.Comment from Brad S. of Great Oaks Animal Hospital 3/16/2011

I love, love, LOVE this place.
My dog, Spyder, loves this place even more than I do. He can't contain his excitement when we arrive. I apologize to the poor employee who has to try to "walk" him back to the kennel. The staff is friendly and seems to really enjoy what they do. They know Spyder by name and always seem happy to see him! I am so grateful to have found this place. -

I took my dog here before christmas for an eye problem. They have eventually bled me of at least 300 dollars to basically tell me I let her condition go on to long and that she now needs to see a vet that specializes in eyes for dogs. They had her on Drops and then told me at this last visit that they can't help her because they don't have the equipment to diagnose the problem. I am very upset with this place and they should have told me that from the very beginning. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

This place is a above average both for features they offer and pricing. They allow you to pick the level of accommodation you would like for your pet from silver, gold or platinum. Prices are incredibly reasonable considering that 3-4 playtimes are included with the daycare or boarding charge. They fill up quickly, especially their silver rooms. Great discounts for second dogs as well. I have to comment that my dogs actually are calmer in the silver rooms. These are pens with typical wire fencing where they can see/smell through as opposed to the more room-like accommodations in the gold level and up. They don't have a website that I know of but they are very customer-oriented and responsive if you call. I haven't found an equivalent that beats the price and array of included features for boarding/daycare. Its really an all-inclusive type of situation where you are not having to pay for additional playtimes for every dog you leave with them. Also they are dog people, knowledgeable and friendly. They offer a variety of upscale ad ons to make your dog's stay even more comfortable. Very pleased.
